He showed me what he intended to do. Then he cleaned out the vent from the inside and outside.He suggested a few things for the future. It all went smoothly.

+ -1 moreI can't recommend this company highly enough. I was amazed by Jerry's responsiveness to phone calls and scheduling appts. In fact, initially he had me scheduled farther out for the new dryer vent line and then called me back and offered an earlier appt when he had a cancellation. I was so grateful that he took the time to do that. His son, Matt and work partner, Pete were so so responsible, professional, honest and patient. They did precise, excellent work. They were efficient and meticulous in cleaning up afterwards. Roy joined them to help with end of job and he too was so professional and kind. They will be returning to complete further projects and I have every confidence in their recommendations and workmanship.
Description of Work: We live in a 6 unit condo building and wanted to have dryer vents evaluated and cleaned. Matt and Pete arrived on time and did a thorough evaluation of vents, provided clear explanations about recommendations and were patient with questions and explanations. Same day they cleaned a common vent in the basement. Returned another day to install a new dryer vent line in my unit.

+ -1 moreI can't have enough great comments about Dryer Vent Wizzard of Roslindale. After setting up an appointment several weeks before, Roy from Dryer Vent Wizzard showed up on time and explained the entire process in a professional and personable manner. Our vent was in need of some code updates and hadn't been cleaned for many years. Bird nests and extreme blockage were discovered. After cleaning out a long vent and replacing the interior connector that was not up to code and exterior vent with one that was animal proof, it was like having a new dryer and peace of mind especially with all the recent dryer vent fires in the news. I would highly recommend this company.

+ -1 moreIt was perfect! Right from the start, Customer Service was helpful and efficient. And the technician who came was pleasant, knew his stuff, cleaned the dryer and added a new vent. Not all service providers are this good and it was a complete pleasure to work with them. I would highly recommend them!

+ -1 moreWe're in a four-unit condo building. The dryers had been vented so that each pair shared one exhaust tube. Meaning, we have four dryers and only two vent outlets on the exterior of the building. The whole set-up was not up to code. They came in, removed all existing tubes, replaced them with the appropriate materials so that the end result was each dryer having its own individual exhaust. They also removed a small window to create two more vent outlets and then insulated and properly sealed the whole area. Then they went on to remove the back of each individual dryer and cleaned out all of the accumulated lint and dust/dirt. When they finished, they wiped down the top of all four dryers, vacuumed the laundry room floor and removed all of the debris from the project. Jerry McCarthy and his son, Matt were on time and were extremely pleasant and professional throughout the entire experience. I was happy with the initial visit from Jerry for the estimate right through the end. He is knowledgeable and patient and explained everything to me in detail. He's also a very honest person and I can tell that he and his son take great pride in their work. I also felt that they treated my home as they would their own. I would highly recommend their services to anyone.
Description of Work: Replaced all dryer exhaust vents to get them up to code and installed two additional exterior outlets. Cleaned the interior of four individual dryers.

+ -1 moreRoy was punctual, professional, and great to work with. We won't have to clean the dryer vent for a few years now. We'll definitely use Dryer Vent Wizard again for the service.
Description of Work: Initial call was for a vent cleaning, but when technician Roy arrived it was discovered that the dryer vent line was not up to code. We agreed a new dryer vent line was needed, with the install adding an extra fee. Roy also noticed that our washer hoses were not up to code and could lead to a flood in the basement if not changed. He was able to add braided stainless steel hoses (which are supposed to last a lifetime), again for an additional fee.

+ -1 moreMatt McCarthy was the technician who came with a helper Roy. Matt called to say he had finished an earlier job and if it was ok he would come a little bit early. They pulled out the unit and cleaned the back, the tray cavity, repaired the hose and added a new outside vent cover. Both Matt and Roy could not have been any more friendly or professional. The clean up was great. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I needed a cleanout of my dryer since it had been many years sense buying it. It is a stackable washer and dryer unit and working with his helper, Roy, Matt pulled out the unit and discovered the vent was not attached. This may have happened during painting of our kitchen. They cleaned out the dryer repaired the hose and put a new vent cover on the outside.

+ -1 moreIt took some time to schedule the installation work, as it was a two-person job, given the tight constraints of the laundry closet. The owner, Jerry, was always responsive to questions and calls. The final installation is much cleaner than the previous arrangement.
Description of Work: The initial call was to clean the duct, but we then realized that the foil transition duct was squashed in the tight space behind the stacked washer and dryer. The solution was to open up the drywall and put in a recessed dryer box, to allow more room from the dryer to the wall duct.

+ -1 moreThe contractor arrived promply and was polite and did the job in less than an hour. My only complaint is that after the owner quoted me a price by telephone of $175-225, the workman arrived and informed me that there would be an additional service charge of $49. At first he said I had received this information in an email (incorrect) and then admitted that it had not been disclosed to me. The purpose of this additional fee was unclear at best. He said it could be a franchise fee. Or a diagnostic charge. Hmm. The problem was resolved to my satisfaction. I called the owner, Jerry, who quickly agreed that I would not have to pay the additional fee; however, I was overall unimpressed by the attempt to increase the cost of the job.

+ -1 moreI could not more highly recommend Dryer Vent Wizards. I rarely end up writing reviews, but truly felt I received exceptional service. Had Jerry and his son out to figure out why our dryer wasn?t venting properly. Our dryer is in a very difficult to access small closet and finding the exterior vent in our third floor condo was a challenge (an understatement). Turned out carpenters had covered over the dryer vent hole when residing the house...unbelievable... Luckily Jerry?s team?s (a third tech joined mid project) thorough inspection uncovered the problem and rectified the situation (cut out siding & installed new vent cover). Jerry and team ended up working much longer (5 hours) than expected, but didn?t increase the original quote. We have had tons of work done on our condo the past few years, this was definitely the best repair experience I have ever had.

I was not happy to discover that they would not clean out the existing hose because it was not up to code, but this company came highly recommended so I decided to go ahead with the work. The surprise, very expensive extra cost factor was why I downgraded professionalism: i think that possibility should have been explained before hand.
Description of Work: I called to have my dryer vent cleaned out, as many birds had built homes in side of it. He examined my dryer vent , advised me that it was not up to code and needed to be replaced, and then did so. He replaced hoses.

+ -1 moreThis was a horrible experience. The worker was unprepared and vulgar.
Description of Work: The provider arrived one hour before the scheduled time. I was not at home. My wife was on an extremely important conference call. His interruption of her work was quite troublesome, especially as he had not called to ask if he might arrive fully one hour early. As I arrived home, I witnessed him clean one small dryer vent (about 4 feet) with a hand held vacuum. He then told me that I would be charged $89.00 for his time assessing the job and an additional $225 for cleaning each vent. Evidently, he did not properly assess the job as later told me that he didn't bring a ladder tall enough to reach the third floor. He also lamented the fact that he didn't bring the proper equipment to clean the dryer vent on the third floor, as it was not the type of vent he had expected to encounter. Several times I requested that he either go back to his shop to get the right tool or call another employee to bring him the right tool; be declined to do either, explaining "I'm pretty sure I can rig this to work." I left him alone for about 15 minutes as he needed to get his 4 foot step ladder from his truck so as to get into a crawlspace. When I returned to the crawlspace he informed me that he was "Going to pull down some of this insulation, so that he could get a better look at the inside of the roof. Three years ago, I had my entire roof insulated with closed cell spray on insulation, at a cost of over $10,000. I told him to leave the insulation alone. What he ended up doing was to cut away a large piece of the vent and rammed some sort of stick to the end of the vent, knocking away the cage at the end of the vent. I assume birds will be nesting in the warm vent as the weather gets colder. From the time he arrived until the time he left was a total of 90 minutes. He did not only subpar work but a true hack job. For this, he presented me with a bill of $600.00!!! When I complained about his unpreparedness, his shotty workmanship, and a $600.00 Bill for 90 minutes of "work" he began swearing and calling me names I will not repeat here. Be warned: Do not call this company unless you want poor workmanship at ridiculous costs. As a ten year member of Angie's List, I have used dozens of contractors at multiple locations. I have never once been disappointed until my unfortunate encounter with DRYER VENT WIZARDS OF MASSACHUSETTS!!!

He told me that the flexible tube that I was using as a vent wasn't up to code and I should have a more permanent vent installed, in addition to moving the exhaust location. A quote was given to me and the work was completed the same afternoon. Unfortunately, as the new vent was not flexible, I was told by the people that would come to fix the wall that they needed to have the vent removed. I called Jerry and he agreed to have someone come to remove the vent in a very timely manner and to come and replace it after the job was done. Even though someone came to my house two more times, I wasn't asked to pay any additional fees, which I think attests to the company's commitment and pride in doing quality work and valuing their customers' satisfaction. I find this attitude very hard to find these days, so I would definitely recommend this company for the services they provide.
Description of Work: I needed to have the location of the dryer vent moved in order to repair the wall, where the vent exhaust was originally installed.

They came out a couple of weeks prior and we learned it was a bigger job than we thought because they had to work around two windows and a gas intake/exhaust (there are minimum distances the vent must be installed from each). We scheduled the job, they were right on time, very courteous and explained everything they planned to do in easy to understand terms. They discovered a leak from a pipe that went through the laundry room and talked through what it might be (though recommended a plumber come check it out, which we did right away). The installation took only a couple of hours, which is what they first estimated when I scheduled the job. The external vent and cover look great, very clean installation on the side of the house that blends right in. They cleaned up very well. Great experience. I will certainly contact them for vent cleaning when the time comes.

+ -1 moreMy dryer vent that snakes through the ceiling has become dislodged. In fixing it, Dryer Wizard discovered that the previous supplier (also an Angies List supplier but now apparently out of service) had left in the old, plastic venting. This was a problem since that old tubing is no longer up to code. It is a fire hazard if used with a newer, hotter dryer like we have. They replaced the old piece, securley installed the new one, and made sure that it vented properly from beginning to end. I was very satisfied with the quality of work and level of professionalism.
