We have contracted with the company for twice yearly maintenance for our a/c and heating. We have been using this company for 3 yrs and have been happy with them until now, although, at times, we feel their services are expensive, and it seems everytime someone comes here, we spend more money, on top of the maintenance agreement. (something is always broken) Eric, the technician, is always professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. We were not so happy with the office. Eric told us on Aug. 22, 2011 our first maintenance visit of the service contract, that we needed to replace a cracked inducer motor. This, by the way, is on a 4 yr old furnace. It doesn't seem like something that should happen on a furnace, which is not that old.Eric ordered the part through the office, and when we called a couple of weeks later to check on status of replacement part, we were told they didn't know anything about it and Eric would call. Eric didn't call. it doesn't seem that this should be the technician's responsibility. We again called 9/14, and we were told by Jay that there was a mix-up on the part, due to suppliers fault (of course!).Then, all of a sudden, on 9/20. Eric showed up, unannounced and with no prior phone call to set up an appt. When we spoke to Eric about not calling, he said the office is supposed to do that, which I believe, since that is the way it was done before. One other thing that was surprising to us is their maintenance agreement. If we paid the whole cost of $358 upfront it would cost us $10 more than if we paid monthly. This doesn't make sense, but we took the monthly payments to save the $10. This is the first time they have offered this option. We are considering going with another company after this contract expires.We feel customer service at times, could be better.They did call to set up the original service, in fact, they called a couple of times, because there was apparently a miscommunication in the office. One more thing, when the part came with Eric, it had the wrong name. It had the previous owner's name on it. Not sure what is up with that. They have no problem getting our names right when we are billed. Seems to me, the office could use some improvements in their systems, and also maybe the Thermopride heating units aren't the best to be used. I do understand, that since we live in manufactured housing there may not be too many options for equipment used.

They come out twice every year to do the cleaning and maintenance work. They call us to remind us of our appointments, which is really helpful. They even send us little cards to schedule appointments. They come early enough in the summer before we’d really turn on the air conditioner. They come again in the winter before we’d really turn the heater on. We have no complaints about them at all.

We first used this company in November 2007, when our furnace would not work on a cold Saturday. They came out promptly and were able to make it work ($115). They suggested that debris might have clogged the intake pipe, and they came back a couple days later to add a termination cone at the end of the pipe ($118). The furnace still wasn't working steadily, so they came back and this time recommended a new circuit board for the Conquest 90. They replaced the board December 11, 2007 ($477). They checked out the system for us 9/22/08 ($189) and everything seemed normal. But by 10/21/08, the heat was not working again. They came back and could find no problem with the system but suggested considering replacing the gas valve if the furnace stopped working again. We noticed that the furnace stopped on windy days and suggested that as the key to the problem, but were told that couldn't be it. The furnace worked fine through the rest of the winter. We had them back for an A/C tuneup on 5/1/09. When the technician arrived, the heat was working fine. He said he heard a pop and he could not get the fan to turn off. The circuit board needed to be replaced, he said. We thought it very odd that the board only lasted a year and a half. He said that the part would have to be ordered but would arrive in a day or two. We were to be without heat or a/c while we waited for the part. He also suggested that we consider buying a new furnace for thousands of dollars; he implied that the furnace was of poor quality and near the end of its life cycle. It was a week later before we heard that the part was in. By this point, we wanted a second opinion. The second contractor was able to obtain the part the same afternoon he stopped by, and when he left us the heat and a/c worked fine. He also explained that high winds can create a draft and trip a switch in the pipes to shut off the furnace. He said the furnace is fine and should last for many years.

Heating & Air Conditioning Services Inc. did an excellent job! We have not suffered any problems with the furnace or the A/C unit. We felt very comfortable with them. They were very professional and explained every detail of the entire process. They even showed us an informative video about the system that they were going to install. We decided to get top of the line products and are very happy with our decision to trust and use them.
Description of Work: Heating & Air Conditioning Services replaced our furnace because the heat exchanger was cracked. We also decided to change our A/C unit, just to be sure that we were not going to have problems. We downsized from a 5 ton unit to a 3 ton unit, the recommended size. In addition, we also had an automatic humidifier and a new filter system installed in our 4 bedroom home.

I HAD NOT HEARD FROM THE COMPANY SINCE TOM CAME OUT TO SURVEY THE JOB. I FIRST CALLED ON FRIDAY OCT 5TH AND WAS TOLD TOM WOULD BE CALLING ME BACK. I DID NOT HEAR FROM TOM THAT DAY SO I CALLED THEM BACK TWICE ON SATURDAY, ONCE IN THE MORNING AND AGAIN IN THE AFTERNOON. I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THEIR REP ON THE PHONE, AND THAT I WAS TRYING TO GET A REPLY SO THAT I COULD PROCEED FORWARD WITH THE WORK ONCE I KNEW THE ESTIMATE. ONCE AGAIN I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CALL TOM IMMEDIATELY AND THAT I WOULD BE HEARING FROM HIM THAT DAY. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK TO THIS DAY, I DON'T KNOW MAYBE THE JOB WAS TO SMALL FOR THEM, BUT IT IS CERTAINLY UNPROFESSIONAL TO NOT RESPOND OR COMMUNICATE WITH A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER. I WAS TRYING TO FIND A GOOD COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH BECAUSE IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS I WILL NEED A NEW BOILER INSTALLED, BUT I WILL NOT BE DEALING WITH THESE UNCOURTEOUS PEOPLE.

Our appintment with the member's home was to tune up his existing gas boiler. After he booked this appointment he asked if the person coming out can give him a price to add heat to a new bath room. We told him he can at least get the information. When we arrived at the home we saw that the gas boiler to be tuned up was 40 years old and in very bad condition. We told him we could not tune up the boiler due to its condition and charged him no money for the visit. We recommeded to replace it. He said that he did not want to replace it at this time and just wanted the price to put heat in the bath room. We told him the boiler was to old to work on for that purpose also. He again reaffirmed that he will not be replacing the boiler at this time. We told him that there is nothing more we can do for him if he keeps the boiler. Again it was old and in very bad shape and not safe to operate . Again we collected no money for this visit and evaluation. His calls to our office after this visit was again to get a quote for work we told him we can not do. That message was given to him again. This is a gas fired appliance that was unsafe to operate with high potential of producing a carbon monoxide hazard. If giving our free professional advice to a consumer regarding this type of hazard warrants an F rating so be it. Our first concern will alway be the safety of our customers.

Appointment available only a few days after I called. Technician was on time. Technician was friendly and courteous. I was, however, unwilling to accept the estimate for extensive repairs or replacement because I had little experience with hot-air furnaces and wanted a second opinion. I consulted Angie's List and got a second company to inspect the furnace. They adjusted it, said it was fine, and needed no further work. That does not prove that this company's assessment was wrong, but it causes me to suspect that they might have been trying to sell me more work than was needed.
Description of Work: Gas-fired hot air furnace inspected. I had requested a cleaning, but was told extensive repairs were needed or cleaning would not be worth it. Given estimate of $800-1200 for repair, full cleaning, and a quotation for new furnace. Technician took photos of furnace for his company's reference. Technician said furnace was so old (18 years) that replacement would be a better investment than repairs. I was charged less than original quote for cleaning ($110.00), and was told that price I paid could be credited towards quoted work.

THE TECH WAS VERY NICE AND DID WHAT HE COULD, UNIT IS OLD AND WORN. HE SUGGESTED TO RUN IT UNTIL IT WON'T RUN AND THEN REPLACE. THE PRICE WAS A BIT HIGH FOR WHAT HE ACTUALLY DID.
Description of Work: CENTRAL AIR KEPT TRIPPING CIRCUIT BREAKER & WASN'T BLOWING COLD AIR. TECH REPLACED ELECTRICAL WIRE FROM OUTSIDE UNIT INTO HOUSE AND ALSO CLEANED PINE NEEDLES OUT OF UNIT. OVERALL UNIT OLD & NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
