Handyman Fran

Perfect, as indicated above: punctual, professional, very friendly and helpful.

Arrived a little later than scheduled, but otherwise I'm completely satisfied. He had all the tools and know-how needed to get everything installed quickly and effectively in my place. Impressive job going from verbal descriptions and photos to figure out the right hardware to buy.

Fran is great. He shows up when he says he is going to, he charges what he estimates it's going to cost, and he finishes on time.

He is very responsible. Works fast, gives good advice and does good work Each time time I had him do work for me, I was very pleased with all of it.

We encountered some issues with the first location we wanted to hang the swings (he discovered the beam way up there was fake/hollow! Who knew?) and the hardware we had bought, so he was unable to install them on his first visit out. He carefully fixed the hole he had made to discover the fact the beam was hollow, and as he worked, he came up with a solution to our swing hanging dilemma. He found safe install spots with a device he had that he used to test for beams under the surface of the ceiling. Then he scheduled his next visit, and after he went to Home Depot for us for a very reasonable charge ($20) to get the right eye hooks, he came back on a different day, and got everything set up perfectly. He fit us in to his busy schedule both times within a week. At $54 minimum for his two visits (or $54/hour--his second visit was actually about the full hour as he was very meticulous) I felt he was extremely reasonably priced. We are so grateful for the service Fran provided. He was professional, punctional, priced reasonably and helpful in solving the challenges we encountered in figuring out how to hang these hooks. Essentially he was perfect and I could not have asked for better service. I feel like we really lucked out in finding him and I recommend him without reservation and would use him again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Fran!

Fran was excellent! He did a great job hanging up some heavier/trickier items and wall mounting our tv. Was very very communicative and was prompt and professional. If we ever need anything else done, we know who to call. :)

He was courteous, neat, and very responsive. I called him just before Christmas after another person was a "no-show." He responded right away and showed up when he said he would. I will definitely use Fran again.

We had a link in the hose of our kitchen sink sprayer. Tried taping it ourselves to no avail. We called Fran this morning (note, 2 days before Christmas), and he came over a few hours later with a couple of replacement hoses for me to choose from and completed the replacement in less than an hour. He's totally professional and very pleasant.

It was not major work. However, we found that he performed all of thw tasks easily and effectiely and at reasonable cost. We will use him again

I have found Fran to be honest, knowledgeable and hardworking. He arrived within the time window he said he would. The house has mostly horse-hair plaster walls - very crumbly. 1. The roll-front cabinet: This cabinet is 48" high and 24" wide. I wanted to have it mounted to the wall, without a counter-top under it. Fran installed a wooden support for it in the wall. He assembled the cabinet and installed it for me. 2. Besta ikea cabinets in the living room: These were 24" x 25" cabinets. I had already assembled them. The challenge, however was to mount them in a zig-zag pattern. For myself, I would never have had the patience to align them perfectly, given that not all the walls are perfectly straight. Fran had to readjust his mounting several times and they look perfect on the wall. 3. Shoe cabinet in stairwell: Fran did this one very quickly. The cabinet was already assembled. I was not sure how complicated this might be, but Fran figured it out very quickly and finished it in less than 20 minutes. 4. Towel rod: This was also straightforward for Fran. I was worried about anchoring the rod properly without studs and the easy crumbling around anchors. This was also done well. Most importantly, Fran would ask me about how I wanted things to be aligned, paid attention to aesthetics and was completely unfazed by my "perfectionism." He cleaned the walls where he had left any smudges during work. And tidied things up before he left.

He is really good. He is very punctual. He gets what you want. He’ll just do whatever you need. He is very efficient. He gets paid by the hour, but he doesn’t dilly dally. The drawback from him is that he is very busy so it takes a long time to get an appointment. His costs are $50/hour which I feel is on the high end, but it’s worth it.

I contacted the provider but never received any response from them.

Fran was meticulous and professional. He arrived precisely on time and just did what had to be done. Both the gate and the towel bar feel sturdy. I'm so happy that we found Fran!

Fran is a very nice person, is very professional and did great work. He not only did a great job overall, but he told us what he can't do (too complex) and what we can do ourselves to save money. We can't recommend him highly enough.

nothing - he doesn't use email and phoning him was extremely frustrating. It took forever to get an appointment and then he never showed - no phone call either.

Phone message left was courteous and suggested that since the job was reasonably urgent (garbage disposer replacement) we may not want to wait for him given that he wouldn't be available for two weeks.

Fran visited the house a few days before he was scheduled to work. He wanted to assess what tools and supplies he would need to do the job efficiently. He obtained the needed supplies and returned to work a few days later. Fran was extremely professional and all work was better than we ever expected. The pricing was very reasonable. We will definitely hire Fran the Handyman again.

After reading great reviews of Fran on Angie's List, I phoned him on a Wednesday about the terrible cold air coming through my front door. Although he was in the middle of his banking, he had me take measurements of the door while he waited on the phone. Determining that my door was not the usual size, he explained that he may need to buy more material than usual for this kind of job. On the following Saturday he arrived just when he said he would, and got to work. He obviously knew exactly what he was doing and worked quickly and efficiently. Then he worked on my french doors, as well as some sticky windows. Lastly, he looked at several other things to be fixed--e.g., caulking in kitchen, lights--and made a list for a return visit. When he left I felt this incredible sense of relief. Finally, after ten years and many other handymen, I found someone whom I think I can count on to keep up the regular maintenance of my house. He's already phoned back to set a date for the other work. He is pretty busy, and I can see why. His rate of $55/hour seems reasonable, especially given his expertise. Beyond this he charges a small fee for getting the materials he needs, and of course the price of the materials. To top it all off, Fran happens to be a particularly pleasant guy. For me this was a very happy day!

Fran came highly recommended by a friend and when we looked him up in Angie's list, his reviews were excellent too. He is of course busy, but came a couple of days after we called, to look at the work, told us what needs to be done, how much he charges and asked us to get the materials for the work (with specifications of what needs to be bought). Called the day before to confirm the appointment, and arrived on time. He finished the job in two different days (because of his schedule and we ran out of grout the first day) but definitely stuck to his initial estimate of the number of hours to finish the job. He sent us a link to a website where we could order the handle for the faucet (~$25), which we did and replaced it ourselves, while previously some others had recommended replacing the faucet (which would have been much more expensive). He always asks "why do it" and gives us excellent practical suggestions to minimize cost. In addition, Fran right away tells you whether the job is something that he is comfortable with or not. We applaud his honesty and have no concerns about his work. Would definitely hire him for any other handyman jobs that we may have in future.

Fran called me 15 minutes before arrival, to let me know he was on the way. He looked at the projects I had on hand for him and began to work immediately. He assembled a bookcase for me and assembled the tree and connected all the electrical plugs, etc. I was very pleased with his work, speed and neatness. I will definitely call him again for other projects.

Call Franc for estimating to replace the range hood. He showed up as planned and he is very professional. In stead of doing the job, he is very honest and suggested another handyman for the job since he was afraid he may be not able to do this job. I may still hire him to try out.

I called Fran to help with several items that I needed fix to put my house on the market. He responded and was able to make an appointment for 2 weeks out, which was a little longer than I hoped, but was worth the wait. He came the first day and was not able to finish the full list of projects...he worked with his schedule and was able to find 2 days the following week to come back and complete all the projects needed. He was very knowledgable and provided suggestions and also completed all the extra projects that I needed. Overall he was reliable and his work was done with care and quality. He also cleaned up when he was done. A few days later, I noticed another issue with my door and called him...he responded right away. I was able to fix the door and did not need him to come out, but he was willing to come out and help if needed. Great resource and I will definitely use again. Thanks Fran for all your help.

I think many handymen can probably do good work, Fran is a great work, but he especially excels in communication. It is SO NICE to have him call back immediately and tell us he'll be able to do the work in 3 weeks. And then he shows up at the appointed time in 3 weeks! We understand that a good provider may not have an available time slot for a while. What we want is an honest statement of when he will be available. Fran excells at this. We've had him do more work than the $55 described here, ($50/hr - SO REASONABLE) and he always tells us what's happening when. He's great.
