Repaired aging garage door opener in timely and professional manner for a very reasonable price. Very pleased.

My garage door was running very rough and I want to make sure there was nothing wrong with it. S&S came out the morning after I called, determined that it just needed to be lubricated, sprayed it thoroughly with WD40 and wouldn't let me pay.

He was extremely professional, did everything he promised in time and within the original quote he provided. Definitely recommended as a contractor you can trust to deliver on his promises. Very courteous and helpful.

He was wonderful! He called me back immediately. Came out that very day. He was very very nice.

S & S responded within 2 hours. Even better, the caller asked several careful questions about my problem and thus determined it was something I could probably handle myself. I did as he instructed and voil , the door operates properly. I couldn't be happier. I will certainly call them should I need service in the future.

He was fantastic! We were not even home yet he came, repaired and left bill with a relative who was watching the home for us. This was an excellent overall experience. People just don't do this quality service much anymore!

Everything went incredibly smoothly. Gary came out for an estimate. When I explained that I did not want anything fancy, he did NOT try to talk me into anything more than I wanted. He gave me a couple of options, I chose one, and then he called me again when the door I had chosen (I wanted a specific color) came in. He was punctual, courteous, professional, and efficient. Our new door looks and works great. I have no complaints. I would also add that I looked into the prices at a home improvement store for garage door installation prior to hiring Gary, and Gary's price was about $500 less. It goes without saying that his services are better than the home improvement store s would have been.

I called Gary in the morning and he came out and fixed it that morning. He replaced the spring and checked the other springs on the two garage doors.

In the middle of a major exterior paint job, on Saturday afternoon, we discovered a garage door problem that we could neither diagnose or solve on our own. Called Gary at S&S immediately (after an Angie's list check to find him). He returned the call before dinner and arranged to come out the next day (Sunday at 10 am). The work was complete to our satisfaction by noon so the painting could proceed on Monday.

This guy Gary charges a seventy five dollar minimum for jobs. I thought that was a little high, but it may be typical in this field. He did a temporary fix but then it wouldn't work again. Then he replaced something. He fixed the door temporarily without replacing a part, but when it stopped working again, he replaced a part on a second call. He did wave waive the minimum fee for me the second time. I mean, he tried not to overcharge me and I appreciated that. I do give him an A plus on responsiveness. He came the same day I called. He was very responsive and I liked that a lot. I was real impressed with that about them.

I reached Gary immediately, and he came down the next day to take a look and measure and brought samples of various doors so we could match one to the style of our home. I am a researcher by trade and I could tell that Gary was a true professional in the way that he answered all my questions. He offered to get rid of the old door for us and told us he would order it that day and we would receive it in 2 - 3 weeks. We have had our share of local garage door people and have found all of them eager to make money and saying certain things needed replacement,(which turned out never to be the case,) so we knew we would have to go a distance to find somebody honest. Save yourself some time and just make one phone call to Gary. The door arrived in 2 weeks and he came the next day (today) to install it this morning. It's gorgeous and we love it. What a pleasure to find another professional, decent person on this list.

Gary and his son did the work in one day. They were very responsible and knew their stuff. They were both hard workers, very professional and did a beautiful job. The doors work great. I highly recommend them.

Called Gary about garage door and he returned my call immediately and came out the next day to fix it. Garage door needed only adjusting but in addition, Gary took the time to explain to my husband how to adjust it in the future if need be, checked the other garage door and walked him through its operation and maintenance since we are new homeowners.

Gary came promptly. He instantly diagnosed the problem. He made some adjustments and the problem was fixed. Charged a small fee for a quick job.

The chain that drives our garage door opener came off its sprocket. It was difficult for us to get the chain tension properly adjusted when we put it back. We called Gary on a Friday; he came the following Monday morning and performed the necessary (fairly extensive) adjustments at a very reasonable price.

I called S&S Monday morning, left a message and Gary returned my call at 5:00pm. He said he could come out and look at it the next day. I didn't need to be home. He asked if the repairs were less than $100 should he go ahead and make the repairs. He estimated that it should cost $85, but he would let me know if the entire door needed to be replaced. I gave him my cell phone number. He came out the next day around noon, called me to say the work was done, and left the bill on my inside step. Gary was so nice on the phone. I was just amazed at his response time and the cost. The other company that I called wanted me home during the visit which would be a week away and they said at the least both springs would need to be replaced. I am very very happy with S&S. I will call Gary again when my ancient automatic openers dies.

Gary was great. Everything was done quickly, on time, and very professionally. The new garage doors were installed with precision and met my highest expectations.

First of all, it was great that Angie's List had a category for Garage Doors because I didn't even know how to go about finding a contractor to do the work we needed. I had tried general carpenters and got estimates of $1000 to try to fix the bottom 1/4 panel without buying a new piece. I called Gary based on his amazing ratings on Angie's list and boy were they accurate! He called back in about 5 minutes, came to estimate the job while I wasn't even home. Called with a plan and and estimate. I hired him on the spot. It took 3 weeks to receive the part ( exactly what he said it would ) and he then came immediately to install. The job was perfect, in addition to replacing the bottom 1/4 panel, he also replaced some of the rigging for free and the door now operates better than it ever has. Wonderful job, could not be happier. Thank you Gary.

My garage door had to be "propped up" in order to stay open; otherwise, once opened, would come crashing down. I left message for Gary on Friday afternoon and he returned my call within 15 min. and suggested he would come by the following Mon. To his word, he arrived Mon. a.m (even called ahead without my asking), assessed the situation and had it fixed satisfactorily in 15 minutes. He was both pleasant and professional. I would highly recommend his services to anyone with garage door problems!

One of my garage door openers was behaving strangely, as it would not close consistently. It would bounce back open and require multiple button pushes and at one point I got aggravated and had to manually close the door. Called Gary to come look at it. He returned my call the very same day and came out two days later to look at it. As the openers were old chain driven units used right under bedrooms, I decided I wanted to just replace them with quieter belt-driven units. Gary came as scheduled and noted immediately that the pulleys were all old and should be replaced and one door had brand new springs but they were not installed properly. He suggested replacing the springs on the other door and he would properly install and adjust all the hardware. He came back the very next day and installed the two new openers, control pads, and outside keypad. He replaced the springs and pulleys and completed it all in a couple hours. The garage doors open smoothly and quietly now.

He promptly answered all my questions and gave us a few very useful pointers. He was very polite and professional, and we were happy with the phone consultation. If needed we would definitely use his services in the future.

I called S & S for help with my garage door, the opener (something bought from a local DIY store a while ago) kept jamming when trying to lift the door. Gary returned my call the same day and set up an appointment for the next morning. He arrived on time and took a look at the door. After lubing the rollers and track, adjusting the lifting and closing force, and trying to open and close the door several times, he identified the defective piece and suggested I call the manufacturer to order it. He also gave me suggestions for installing the part when it arrives since he thought it shouldn't be hard to do. As he was about to leave, I asked him what I owed him for his visit and he said, "nothing." That's right. "Nothing." I asked if he was sure and he said that since he wasn't able to fix the problem, I didn't owe him anything. We shook hands and he left. Wow. I could hardly believe that someone like this exists in today's world.

Gary did a wonderful job from the start. He quickly returned my calls, gave an estimate on a Saturday, and returned the next business day to complete the job. I did not even need to be home. He took care of everything, and was very pleasant. I could not be happier with the work, and I would recommend S & S to anyone who needs to replace or repair their garage door openers.
