Justin was GREAT! We had a spring break 6 months ago, and had all four replaced by another outfit. The didn't check for damage, and mis-routed the safety cables. Justin replaced the snapped cable, fixed the safety cables, found the damage to the pulleys that may have caused the snapped cable, and replaced the pulleys with higher quality parts than original.

Garage door wasn't working so S&S came out to give a quote to fix it. It turned out not to be broken; Gary showed us what the problem was and also adjusted the finicky keypad. He didn't charge us and was friendly and helpful. We will call S&S again if the garage door actually breaks!

Gary installed this garage door opener in 2013. In 2014 or 2015, one side's cable had frayed significantly, so he replaced the pulleys and the cable at a fair cost. Now in 2019, the same side cable is frayed so badly the door jams. The other side is still good as new. Was quoted $200 parts and labor to replace the cable and pulleys - which had already been replaced once. Not a single concession on the service call for repeat work, probably due to some larger problem such as uneven door pulling leading to fraying and wear on the one side. Very disappointed. Apparently new co-owner does not believe in standing by his company's work.

Gary and his son Justin were very responsive. They initially came to assess the door, and were back a few days later to perform a regular maintenance, and to replace the rubber seal on the bottom of a manual one car garage door. They made necessary adjustments to allow the door to seal more efficiently with existing weatherstripping while maintaining a tighter bottom seal to keep critters and maybe a little water from entering (downward sloping garage).

The work was done well and quickly.

Efficient and friendly. Loved that they had a Square Reader and accepted credit card payment and ApplePay on the spot!

All's well. The door works. Turns out that the actual door frame on that side has twisted outward a bit, so this isn't a permanent fix. But as I'm looking to move, I'll leave that for the next owner. I'll leave the contact info for S&S for the next owner.

They came when they said they would, did an excellent job, cleaned up after themselves and the price was appropriate.

Gary's son, Justin, and Adam showed up on time. Replaced the old garage door motor and installed a new one. They were at my house approximately 1 hour. They were both polite, professional and did an outstanding job! They showed me how to use the new remotes and programmed the outside door opener. Overall, they provided A+++ service. I am thinking of replacing my old garage door and will definitely hire them in the Spring to do the work. Don't call anyone else for your garage motor/ door needs. They are honest and call you back and do the job right. Very happy I found them on Angie's List.

My husband call and spoke with Gary. He suggested trying to grease the door on our own and to call him back if we still needed him. Great! We tried that, but realized we would need an expert. When I tried to get back in touch he did return a call, but his message said he had "left several messages" which I never received and that he needed our address. Very strange...I called and left another message with my information and never heard back from him. I tried again and got a recording. I finally gave up and called another company. Surprising since there are so many good reviews!

Gary was very easy to work with and the guys did a great job. They fixed what turned out to be a shoddy installation of the garage door supports, replaced the motor with a whole new super-quiet system, mounted the sensors above the water line in our garage where we sometimes get water in heavy rains and installed an external keypad. They were responsive, prompt and professional. Best of all, now we can use our garage door again even if the babies are asleep!

This is the second time we have used Gary and company. Excellent service once again. Responsive, punctual and honest. Highly recommend.

Excellent. They (the business owner Gary Scalese and 2 others) arrived promptly at the scheduled time and completed the task of removing the old door opener and installing the new opener, wall unit and sensors in less than 1 hour. They even did some maintenance on the door tension springs...a heavy, 16 foot wide, wood door. They were polite, professional and skilled...working as an experienced team. They disposed of the old unit and packaging materials and the business owner took time to explain and demonstrate the operation of the new unit. I am very happy with my new garage door opener and with the service provided. My old opener was in use for 35 years and was starting to fail. The new opener is much quieter using a belt rather than a chain mechanism and offers improved lighting, security and safety sensors. I highly recommend S & S Overhead Door Co.

Gary answered my call at 6:30pm on Friday evening when most people would be kicking back. He said he could come by the next day, Saturday, and take a look at our broken garage door. He showed up right when he said he would and he and his son got right to work! (I was anticipating he may only be able to provide an estimate at that time.) Our door was fixed in short order and his charge of $100 was very, very reasonable. Gary is an old school guy that believes his customers deserve great work at a very fair price. Look no further and call Gary. I will never consider using anyone else if we need help fixing our garage doors again.

Gary was booked out into November but still called me back right away twice and spent a lot of time on the phone trying to help us for free. He gave really helpful advice. I was very impressed. Would definitely use him if we need to in the future.

Based on the great reviews and the fact that the company is local, I happily called and left a message on Friday afternoon - 30 minutes before closing. I never received a call back, even though the business hours listed include Saturday and Sunday. I scheduled an appointment with a different company.

This father son team is very responsive, came when they said they would, did the repair, and were very fair in the pricing. All around an excellent experience. I will recommend them without hesitation.

Showed up very promptly and was very proficient in opening the garage door. The door had been stuck for sometime due to past power failure or tripped circuit. It took him less than 5 minutes to drill the hole accurately, pull the release to open, and then install the key to avoid the situation next time.

.S and S is a father and sons operation. Gary, the father, tends to be old school but in a good way. He's straight-forward. The job and cost worked out as he originally quoted in the time frame that he had said. Both he and his sons were professional and easy to deal with. Gary answered our questions and let us make our decisions with the information he provided but without pressuring us or selling us something that we didn't need. The installation was efficient, the work area kept neat. All in all a satisfactory experience.

They came quickly, repaired thoroughly. I can't be sure of what we paid -- but it felt like a great deal. The best part was that the door was functioning again within a day

Gary returned my call in a timely manner, made an appointment, quoted the cost. He came today installed the new opener and showed me how it works. I would definitely recommend S$S.

These people a father and son are very dependable, professional. I would definitely recommend them based on the quality of product and service. They were more expensive then other providers but my sense was they were the most professional. I initially was leaning towards another provider that received strong reviews on this site as they were cheaper, however they did not appear to be as professional in the quoting process. I called them to place an order and they said they would order the door and get back to me. I never heard back from them and at that point decided to go with S&S for the slightly higher cost. They ordered the door, followed up, arrived at on the exact day and time promised and did good work.
