Gary has come before to repair our old garage doors -- always with a smile, when we needed him, and at a very good price. Then the doors broke in such a way we had to replace them. He gave us estimates on different kinds of garage doors and was very patient with us while we decided (wood or steel, 5" or 3" rollers, plywood or particle board panels, etc.). We decided and gave a deposit, he ordered the doors, and called when the special order doors were in (3", wood frames, plywood panels). We set up a date to install and he did a great job. Very meticulous and careful, great attitude, professional throughout. He removed old doors and rails; installed new rails, built the garage doors section by section, drilling holes and adding hinges. Not a speck of garbage left behind. He made sure our garage door openers worked smoothly and that the alarm system contacts were reset. Highly recommended!! update April 2011 - We had a problem with the door going up at an angle and hitting a bolt on the pulley and jamming. It was making an awful racket. It took us a while to figure out what the problem was, but Gary came out and fixed it.

This was our second experience with S&S and Gary. We remembered a previous positive experience, but could not remember the name. I was able to find my previous report on Angies List to confirm the name. We sent an email to him. He quickly phoned back and made an appointment. Our schedule is difficult, but he found a convenient time promptly. He arrived, determined that components of the old door motor were failing because the door had been installed mis aligned years ago. On Wednesday, the door motor was replaced. The door has been working fine ever since.

One of the springs broke on one of my garage doors (the door won't easily lift without spring). I called Gary - after looking at Angie's List - and he responded within an hour. The spring replacement, a pulley replacement, and lube of both doors cost me $101.00. I then asked him to call me with a quote for the replacement of the bottom panels of 2 doors. This he promptly did, and the work was scheduled for a day that worked well for me. All went quickly and smoothly - including good clean up and disposal of old panels.

He said that it could be fixed, but not by him because he worked with a different brand. I had him replace it, because the door is a double one and is too heavy for me to lift up each morning. He replaced the old opener with a new system. That included opener, light, remotes, push buttons and keypad. It is quieter and quicker than the old one. The work was completed the next day. The old opener was hauled away and the floor swept clean. I was at work and came home to a garage door that opened by pushbutton once again.

Called Gary at S&S and he came down same day and fixed it. I was pleasantly suprised at how inexpensive it was - expected it to be a bigger problem. I will always use them for garage door service.

Gary was very quick to return my phone call and was able to come to our home the next day. He was very pleasant and did the job quickly and well.

I called one day - they came a day or two ; I was shown the options and the cost, and within a week they replaced the doors. The work was done in November and we have had no problems with the doors 4 months later.

He was prompt-even early for the appointment. He quickly realized that the problem was with the guide wheels, not the cables or motor. He discovered where the track needed to oiled and sanded. What I was charged may have covered gas and a cup of coffee. I wish everyone could be as friendly, responsive, and reasonably priced. I'd call again in a second.

on a Saturday, called back within a few minutes. came to assess the situation Monday, called me at work with details, exactly when he said he would. came back to do the repair on Wednesday, exactly when he said he would. a broken pulley had killed our 15-year-old Stanley garage door motor. Stanley's out of the garage door business, so parts weren't available to fix it. Gary recommended a new LiftMaster motor, and based on everyone's positive experiences here, just took his recommendation. we love it! much quieter and faster than our old one, great controls. calm, professional, responsive, just high quality all around. would definitely use again.

I called three companies from "Angies List", Gary answered my phone call immediately. He diagnosed the problem over the phone and about 30 minutes later arrived at my house to repair the broken spring on our garage door. He is very honest and very knowledgeable. I aksed him whether I needed a new garage door opener because I thought that mine was very noisy. He informed me that he could put one in but he thought that the opener I had would quite down after he inspected it. After several quick adjustments the door was working perfectly and more quiet than I have ever known it to be. Do yourself a favor, if you are having a problem with you garage door give the guy a call, he knows what he is doing and he's priced well below the competition.

Fine. Gary is very pleasant, responsive, and punctual and seems to know everything about garage doors.

Gary was very responsive, returning my call within a few hours. He visited and investigated the situation and gave me an estimate that involved both parts and labor. The parts came in and we scheduled a return visit exactly on the time schedule he had indicated. As he completed the work, it turned out that I did not need the new set of sensors for one of the garage doors, so my final price was actually lower than his estimate. Very professional. Very pleasant to work with.

During a recent rain storm my garage flooded and the sensors on the door became ineffective. I asked Gary to come check them to see if they needed to be replaced, or realigned or just dried out. He replaced them and raised them 6 inches free of charge! I was astounded. I'd highly recommend him for any and all work!

Got referral from Angie's List. Wrote an e-mail to the company and received a very quick response to my message. Gary came out to our house the next morning. He got right to work, was helpful, informative and repaired several broken items. Though my garage door opener is less than a year old, and covered under the home improvement store warranty, Gary checked it out with me, and pointed out what was wrong with it, and also showed me how the device was not installed correctly (e.g. missing support bolts). The home improvement store came out quickly, and though I am still waiting for the replacement part, the representative agreed with all that Gary said. I will not have anyone else touch my garage doors, etc. again. I highly recommend S & S, and the cost was reasonable.

I just moved into a new home, and the garage door made awful squealing noises, and shook the whole house. Then a week ago it went up halfway and stopped. I found the great reviews of Gary at S&S Overhead door, and called him to come out and look at replacing the garage door, open, tracks, etc... He arrived on time, and quickly told me there was no need to replace the door. In 15 minutes he had moved a bracing bar, lubricated multiple points, and reattached various metal pieces that were loose. The door is now silent, smooth, and just like new. He saved me $2,000+ when he could have easily just gone along with my request to get a new door. I HIGHLY recommend him.

I called Gary and he responded quickly. He made an appointment, and based on his other reviews on Angie's List, I thought he would arrive on time, or even early. I was right: He arrived 1/2 hour early for the appointment. He quickly saw the problems, and fixed them. After discussions, he added safety cables and offered to go to the mall to buy us our missing remotes. The very next day in the morning he called and then appeared with the new remotes. He programmed them and that was that. What a pleasure to deal with someone who is reponsible, takes pride in his work, and does a job right. We felt the cost ($188) was well worth all his effort. Call this guy!

When they came out to give me a quote and I was not around when they came. They called me later that night with the quote, and I will be using them.

I reached out to Gary via email-based on the many positive reviews. He responded promptly. He came out to my house when he said he would. He provided guidance as to his suggestions for the replacement. He called me proactively when the door arrived to schedule installation. He came out on a Saturday and had to spend a bit more time than he had anticipated based on how the old door had been installed. Regardless, the extra time did not change his fee quote at all. Further, he advised me not to replace the motor, which saved me money. Working with Gary was a breeze and he was very professional and honest. I would recommend him highly.

I called S&S on Friday morning, they came out the following Monday morning to give an estimate, and did the install Thursday of the same week! I've never had such fast service. The people that installed our previous opener botched the installation; rather than replacing the brackets on the door as Gary did, they cut a hole in our garage ceiling to run the track in - this caused many problems. Gary at S&S replaced the brackets and the track, and now everything runs beautifully! Also, Gary was very easy to work with. I never had to come home from work. We did everything by phone and I just left a check in the garage for him.
