The entire process was very streamlined and simple from the first visit by the sales group straight through the installation. There was never a time where I didn't feel like I was in control of the process. Everyone involved was professional and punctual and kept me involved which is what I am looking for when people are performing work for me. My windows were installed in about 5 hours and I would highly recommend the Power Home Remodling Group to my friends and family.

We rate Power 4 on a 5 point scale and recommend using them under the following conditions: 1. Power bids high, so negotiate them down. My wife and I chose them because their inspection of our house and the work they suggested to improve it were more thorough than that of a nationally known competitor. However, their lowest (third) price was still $1,800 higher than this competitor's. So have detailed estimates ready from one or two other roofers as bargaining chips. 2. Power's salesman should ask for access to relevant parts inside as well as outside of the house: garage, attic or crawlspace. Their chief competitor went only into the garage. Power's salesman, a personable, well trained young man, went everywhere--even the cellar-- and took pictures to share with us. I went with him. He claimed to find just a spot of dry rot beginning in the attic crawlspace, although the installation manager, who came a week or so later, said that he didn't. Subjectivity and experience could have accounted for the difference, but there's no doubt that our attic was very hot and did not have proper ventilation. 3. On installation day, check the work several times. Our crew worked from 7:00 a.m. until nearly 6:00 p.m. None were native English speakers, but we did not have any difficulty communicating with the foreman. The crew worked well together, took only a half-hour or so lunch break, did not talk on cell phones (except for the foreman, who occasionally had to answer business calls), and cleaned up thoroughly. The project manager came in the afternoon and stayed for about 60-90 minutes. One mistake was fixed later. (See below.) We are quite satisfied with the look of the new roof and expect our house to be tighter and more secure from the elements in the future. 4. Insist that the quality control person, who will arrive on the same day after the job is completed, be proactive and look for problems. Ours wasn't: as long as we were happy with the work, he was. He didn't go into the attic crawlspace and the garage, for instance, and so missed what we found the next morning. He spent half of his two plus hours with us trying to sell us other expensive products. One was a metal, mesh covering to go over our gutters that he claimed would really help the new roof breathe even better. This was not like selling someone a new Cadillac and then telling him to keep the tires properly inflated; it was more like telling him to buy only high test gasoline. We did not appreciate his trying to get us to spend more money at the end of a noisy, stressful day that for us had begun at 6:00 a.m. 5. Call the project manager if you find problems. The next morning, in the garage, we found a cracked, half-rotted piece of board that had been shingled over rather than replaced. The project manager arranged a repair time, and the repair crew fixed the problem five days later in about an hour or so. Fortunately the cracked board was near the intersection of the roof and sidewall, so the repairman had only to remove a limited number of shingles and the underlayment, replace the board, and then reinstall what he'd removed. On a final note, expect a dumpster to sit in your driveway or in front of your house for a couple of days. Power rents the dumpster and does not have control over when the company comes to get it, a point they made clear to us several times both before and after we signed a contract with them.
Description of Work: Replaced our roof-- the house proper, the porch, breezeway, and garage-- around 2,000 square feet, with architectural shingles.

Got the hard sell from these folks. First we had to sit through the entire sales pitch for what is clearly a Cadillac of replacement windows. When he finally got to the estimate the salesman then had to go through a long huddle with his computer and came up with a number. When we didn't jump on that he huddled again for a while to give us the "act now" price. When we said we wouldn't act now he came up with another lower "act now" price. We never got details on how these numbers were arrived at. After he went on his way, we got 2 further "hard sell" phone calls with offers of more price changes. Sorry, but we don't deal well with the used car salesman tactics and we've gone on to another vendor.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate for 5 windows and a bay window to replace a picture window.

In relation to the pricing structure, the reason we're able to offer such a steep discount on the first visit is simply a matter of efficiencies. We visit hundreds of customers everyday. By offering our customers a steep discount for an agreement that evening, we effectively eliminate costs from the potential project. It is more cost-effective for us to come to an agreement on price if our customers are ready to move forward - and if we can come to an agreement, we push those cost savings right on to the customer for their trust in our products and team. At the same time, we realize asking customers to make a commitment on a large project in one evening is not something everyone can do. Therefore, we believe we offer other cost-effective options that allow you to consider Power while you schedule additional estimates, allowing you to sit on the quote until you are ready down the line. We are extremely confident in our products, warranties and level of service and while we are transparent that we are not the cheapest game in town, we feel our customers will ultimately choose quality over the lowest bid. Clearly we want all of our customers to enjoy their experience and If you'd like to discuss yours further to better understand our processes and procedures, please feel free to contact me directly using the information below. My wife received a knock on the door one day with an offer for a roofing quote, so she made the appointment for the next week and specifically stated that we had to leave by 4pm. The company said that it would not be a problem. The day of the quote they called and said they were running late so the appointment was rescheduled. When they returned to the house the sales rep was very polite and professional, but took way too long. This quote turned into a 3 hour long presentation on everything that was to be completed start to finish. This might be a good thing but I was already fairly knowledgeble on the subject so it was wasting my time. I was constantly reminding him that I knew what he was talking about and to speed up his presentation and get to the point. He gave me an initial quote of $25,000, and said that he was "going to give us a few minutes to decide while he brought some things to his car." I told him there was no need and the price was way too high. He immediatly went on about offering customers a "discount" for using the pictures of the project in their marketing. This reduced the price to $21K and again he said he would give us a few minutes. When I told him there was no way we were using them, he started talking about yet another discount that would reduce the price to $19,500. Of course this was all dependent on me signing a contract for work right then and there. This company should be embarrassed trying to charge that much for services. I by no means have a complicated roof. It is a basic 2 slope colonial with a garage and entry room. 6 basic non steep slopes in total with 2 layers of shingles on them. I received 5 other quotes from reputable, local contractors ranging from $6800- 8000. That is a $17k discrepancy from their first quote. My suggestion would be to stay away from this company and their sales practices.

The crew was very efficient and it went really well. I was amazed how fast the crew did the work. My only complaint was the clean up the crew could have done a little better, I found a 6 foot length of nails in the bushes and elsewhere in other bushes. Other than that the whole experience was fantastic.

These guys were great. Showed up on time and worked straight thru without taking a break. They left no mess AT ALL. They put my shutters back up with the correct hardware that my painters did not. They took their time caulking all the windows and even helped me get the air conditioners back in. Overall it was a great experience. They even sang while they worked. Very happy!

Power explained in detail about the project, presentation was a bit long but very thorough. They showed up right on time and were very courteous and professional. Several people called during the day to make sure the work was going as expected as well as a couple supervisors stopped by as well. Their job boss Junior was great and made sure they did a great job. While they weren't the cheapest on the block you get what you pay for. The warranty helped us decide. On the warranty, we had a huge rain storm last Monday, the day of the Reading tornado and we got at least 3 inches of rain in one hour, there were some drips from the gutter behind it from the facia due to the gutter totally filling up and not being able to handle the deluge, I called Power and got right through to their warranty group and they had someone out here on Wednesday (today) to check it out. I would recommend them. Yes you can buy a Chevrolet but if you want a Cadillac then Power is for you.

They called hour after hour the day of the appointment but I was unable to pick up as most of my work is on phones so I cannot take another call during the day. When I finally answered they confirmed the day and then asked if my spouse would be there too. I said no. They said they couldn't come then and would have to reschedule. I said thats fine but my spouse is away for the next 12 months (I was kind of annoyed as they should have told me this when first they banged on my door to make the appointment). So they agreed, as my spouse is away 12 months, they would come. They were 20 minutes late which is not the end of the world. However, the estimate and presentation of their roofing system took 4 hours, they were not gone from my house till after 10pm at night, no matter what I tried or how politely I tried to end the show. (at one point the salesman even suggested we order delivery food as "he had all night" for me to make a decision). I will say the presentation was informative, and the gentleman who came was very polite. However, they wouldn't take no! First of all they offer you a price for 'today' and if you don't take it then there is this other price that is $7000 more which is valid for the year. Pressure tactic number 1. Every time you say no, they come up with a new way to better the price or focus you on buying something you never even wanted an estimate for in the first place (eg gutters alone would work out much cheaper and then you get to hold on to the 'today' price on the roof even if you decide to go ahead with it later). It is a very hard sell. I am writing this review as I want other people to be aware as I am sure there are some who would succumb to their high pressure tactics. Had I known I would not have signed up for it as its 4 hours I will never get back. Their product may be great (though not as great as they claim - there seem to be plenty of roofs in my neighborhood not done by PHRG that are not collapsing as they like to suggest) but I would not buy from a company that uses this selling approach. And as an aside, their prices are almost double any other company that has quoted me.
Description of Work: estimate on roof - they asked for $40,000

They caught us at a home show and told us it would a 20 minute presentation, they wouldn't even need to come into the house to give the estimate. We thought why not we are going to need a new roof in the next few years let's get some estimates. The girl arrived at 6:30PM and DID NOT LEAVE UNTIL AFTER 10PM! We could not get her out of our house. She needed to go in the attic - which required me emptying one of my bedroom closets. She gave a ridiculously long presentation and over explained everything. She just wouldn't stop. She was very nice and I feel bad she had to drive so far - over an hour - to do the estimate. But seriously, almost 4 hours is absurd. And NOW these people keep calling me, repeatedly. I get hang ups on my voicemail, and they are very creepy when they call. I use my cell for business and always answer, and they at first try to sound like one of my customers or friends "HEYYYYY (name) whats going on? Its Patrick from power home remodeling group" ughhhhh stop calling me, please leave me alone. We already gave you an answer, you didn't like it and dropped 10k off, we still said no, you dropped another 5k off. Umm I now see why your quote was $44k on my home! I have asked multiple times to have them stop calling and they just don't. I will never use this company, ever. Don't give them your number.

I'm sorry to hear you felt your appointment ran long and, as a result, didn't enjoy your experience. We take the education of our customers seriously and informing our customers as to all the ins and outs of their project can take time. At Power, we only do things "the right way" - which means our product quality, warranty service and installation processes are second to none. When making a decision about the renovation of your home, it's important to us (and important to our customers) to understand how we are different from other contractors and specifically what we do to separate ourselves from the competition. This information is vital in making a decision on an investment that could cost thousands of dollars and, on the whole, our customers appreciate our thoroughness. In regards to the phone calls you're receiving, our apologies. I flagged your account within our system and you will no longer be receiving communications from us. When the salesman approached me at BJ's, I agreed to have the estimate done, but I had NO intention of buying anything. Three of my old windows, upstairs, had developed air leaks between the glass layers and had a foggy appearance. I already had a fellow lined up to do the job; although he kept delaying the time when he would be able to come to do the work. My only thought was to compare their pricing. The young man who came to do the estimate was very personable and FULL of information (more than I wanted). He looked at other windows that had been more recently installed and pointed out areas where Power would be more efficient. It sounded good. I softened and agreed to have ALL of the six upstairs windows replaced. The next step was to arrange a date for the measuring. The next day I had a serious attack of buyer remorse. I thought: "What a sap I am. I fell for that young man's charm and got 'suckered' into making a fool's purchase." I went onto their website and read all about the product. I felt a little better. I went onto Angie's list and read reviews: positive and negative. I focused on the negative and felt worse. The 1st rep had given me addresses of local families who had purchase windows from them. I went to look at them. I kind of preferred wood to the vinyl. I got very nervous when I saw that I would have to pay a hefty sum to back out of the deal. I expressed my anxiety to the man who came to measure. I told him that I wished I had seen a sample of the window. He assured me that I would not be held to the agreement and that the 1st rep would come back to show me a sample. Then I could decide. Well, he came back, was still as pleasant as ever, and I felt more reassured. On Feb. 17th, three men came and, in spite of snow, ice, and cold, had the entire job done in about 4 hours. I couldn't believe it! When they were nearly done another man, an inspector, came to make sure everything was done properly and satisfactorily, and made sure that I understood everything about the windows: cleaning, locking, screens, etc. I can't express my joy when I went upstairs. You FELT the change, cozy and warm, and it as so quiet…no traffic noise at all. Four of those windows face west. The latter half of the day, in summer, gets very hot upstairs. A wonderful feature of these new windows is that they deflect light and heat. I can't wait for the summer! When the installers were removing the long icicles, prior to installing the new windows, one crashed onto a deck solar light and broke it. I went to Home Depot, purchased a new one, submitted the bill to Power, and received a check promptly. While talking with the 'inspector', I asked about doors. He stayed while we planned a new project for the kitchen. Same thing: measurement, installation, inspection. Everything was done promptly, very clean workmanship, disposed of all the old stuff, and I absolutely LOVE the results. The vinyl doesn't look 'cheap', the window and door styles suit my Cape style house. I couldn't be happier. It was well worth the price. I would be proud to show off my house.
Description of Work: In February, Power installed 6 windows in the upstairs rooms. In March, 4 kitchen windows and a door were installed.

Very positive experience. Quality of work and materials was very good. The company over communicated and checked in multiple times through the process which was very much appreciated. Sales process was longer than expected, and was positive, but you need to have the time. An individual just looking for quick bids will not enjoy this experience. Quality check following the job was also very positive.

The agent was very professional and thorough beyond belief! He spent nearly 3 hours going over many items and details that I had not even been aware of. The only problem I had was the ultimate cost. All the materials were first rate and the job proposed would have covered every issue using only the best materials. It would have been completed in one day as well. They tried to work with me on financing, but the timing was just wrong for us. My biggest complaint with them is their marketing strategy. They are relentless with telemarketing calls and follow ups. If you want a first class job done and have the budget for it, they appear to be worth consideration.

I was at BJs, and talked to a salesperson about getting a quote for attic insulation. A very nice guy, but he explained how he would have to set up the appointment as a quote for roofing and attic insulation, because he wasn't supposed to take appointments for attic insulation quotes (he was new). He called in and had me talk to someone to set up an appointment. Strike 1 for professionalism: I had be deceptive with them (as in saying that I wasn't exactly sure when my 5-year-old roof was installed). The two guys that came for the quote were super friendly, right on time, and spent much of the 75 minutes chatting about things they knew I would likely be interested in (e.g. my electric car). They were fine not doing a quote for the roof (they said that happens all the time). We went to the attic. I explained how we started getting ice dams after ductwork was added, yet they tried blaming it on the uneven attic insulation (which did not cause ice dams in the 5 years before the ductwork was added). The icicles we get now are right over where the ductwork is. Just a minor quibble there. But, after they got their information and it was time to give me a quote, they refused to do so. They were very nice and apologetic about it, but they said that their corporate policy was not to give quotes unless the spouse was present, and said they would have to reschedule. They claim this is because the #1 complaint about remodeling is poor communication. When the company called to reschedule, they asked what time would work for both my wife and I. I explained that my wife had no desire to be there, and that it would need to either be me or no appointment. They said there was nothing they could do. So it is clear they have a policy of requiring married couples to have their spouse present. I understand that desire -- in fact, I wish my wife were more interested! But the sad fact is that they claim that the policy is to prevent miscommunication, yet the 2 salespeople that came to my house were OK discussing things with me for over an hour, it was only when it was time to give the quote that they required my wife to be present. All I can think of is that they have a great high pressure sales pitch that works wonders with a husband and wife present. I was really looking forward to getting a quote from them, but refuse to force my wife to sit through a sales pitch that she has no interest in. Another company strongly encouraged her to listen, which I appreciated, but were fine when she declined. Which is worse, a spouse that has no desire to be involved in an attic insulation decision, or the spouse that forces her to do so? In fairness, my mother used them to replace a roof, and had only good things to say about them. And if it were not for this one odd policy, I would have no problems using their service.
Description of Work: They were supposed to provide a free estimate for attic insulation, but were unwilling to do so (because my wife was not present).

Member, Thank you for taking the time to write and leave a review - we take all customer feedback seriously and use it to improve our processes and level of service. In regards to your experience, it is true that we request all homeowners be home at the time of the estimate. A home improvement project can be a very intimate experience - you're opening up your home to a company and are trusting them to do the right thing with, arguably, your most precious possession. We want all parties involved to be completely comfortable and aware of what to expect in the process, that way we can ensure the best experience possible. In your case, I certainly understand your line of reasoning. In instances like this, we can make exceptions and I'd be happy to have a conversation with you about how we could move forward with your project. This was an experiment for us. We had never heard of Power Home Remodeling Group. We've had some drafty windows and decided to give them a try. They explained quite alot about their company, products, and installations. I was impressed for the following reasons: 1. They custom make each window in their own factory here in the USA. 2. They showed me the R-factors of their windows compared to the other popular ones, and they were the best. 3. They use their own employees to do the installations, which means they can control both quality and schedule. They followed through with every single thing they told me. Their reps are incredibly well trained. Their installers were extremely quick and professional. And best of all, we now have no drafts through these windows. And when I touch the glass, it feels almost room temperature, unlike our 25-year old double panes which feel cold. We are really happy with these windows. We have already ordered 2 new outside doors, which they will also custom manufacture. I'm sure we'll do more windows in the future. They are not inexpensive, but are probably comparable to many others. I strongly recommend PHRG.
Description of Work: Installed new windows.

Nightmare experience. We need roof work on our home, so when someone came by offering free estimates, I accepted. I scheduled over the phone right then, and should have been suspicious when they required my husband to be present. I have never had a contractor do that before, but now I know why- it was a very hard sell with a small discount (~10%) offered if you sign up that day. We were told that the estimate would take under an hour, but 2h45m into his pitch, my husband and my father had to kick them out of the house after they refused to give us the bottom line number and just leave us with the materials to review in our own time. The salesmen became very rude to us, made some sarcastic remarks to my father when he questioned their estimates ("well you're not the one paying for this are you?"), and became belligerent. My husband eventually had to say, "get out of my house now". In hindsight, there were many red flags. We will definitely never do business with this company.
Description of Work: A man came to my door offering a free estimate on roofing or windows. Since we had been thinking about roofing work, we accepted. Some red flags: door-to-door scripted pitch, continuous mentioning of companies BBB rating, required to schedule estimate immediately, requirement that both me and my husband participate in estimate (something no other contractor has ever required), loaded marketing language, verbosity, overly-chatty and too friendly salesmen, estimate that went over 2h45m, power point presentation about the company, refusal to give me the bottom line price, refusal to leave any paperwork with me to look over in my own time, rudeness and belligerence when it became clear that we were not going to sign on the dotted line right then and there, extremely disrespectful of our time. For 45 minutes we tried to wrap it up, but they didn't leave until my husband kicked them out if the house. The most EXTRAORDINARILY unprofessional estimate I have ever experienced.

Power Home Remodeling Group was going door-to-door in my neighborhood, and I was considering replacement windows. I agreed to have them come back later that day to give an estimate as long as it didn't take too much time. Unfortunately, the sales pitch was a grueling 2+ hours, which was especially annoying since the person who originally came to my door said it would be under an hour. The price was not given until the absolute end of the pitch, and they turn up the sales pressure by offering a discount if you sign up on the spot. The salesman was friendly and professional, but continued to persevere through his presentation even as my 2-year old was getting fussy because she was hungry (he came at 4:30pm, and by this point it was about 6:30pm). I even called and ordered a pizza during the presentation, but he didn't get the hint. Based on information from the sales pitch, the window quality seems to be top of the line. However, the price is astronomical, more than double (over $10,000 higher) than the other three estimates I got for the job. Even if my heating bills became zero, it would take decades to break even on this price difference.
Description of Work: Gave an estimate for vinyl double hung replacement windows.

Our experience was great! Power HRG was very communicative, which I considered a positive thing. I always knew when we had an appointment, who would be there, and what we were getting done. They showed up on time, every time. The guys who did the work got right to it when they showed up, made sure that they protected our floors with mats that they brought with them, and cleaned everything afterward. I was really impressed by the fact they sent a quality manager to the site during the project to make sure he was answering our questions and checking in on how the guys were doing. He even stuck around to help us move furniture back when they were all done! When it comes to our home improvements, we wanted top quality and that's what I believe we got. In the few days since the windows have been done, I can already feel the change in the temperature of the house and how often the heat kicks on. We're very happy with their work, and are having them come back next month to replace our front door and shutters.

They were so professional and did a wonderful job. They had an inspector to make sure they were doing everything correctly. The supervisor made sure I was happy with the work. Their prices were great for the quality of the windows. They were very fast at getting back to me and they arrived on time for the appointment. It took about 4 hours to complete the work.
Description of Work: We had them put in a bay window in our living room.

The installation went very well. It took slightly longer than I initially anticipated due to the type of window I had removed. I guess they had to be cut out completely. However once the old windows were removed the installation went very quickly. I went from 1983 casement windows, to very well insulated double hung windows. I could honestly feel a difference in the room temperature within hours of the installation being complete. They were very professional. Completely covered all my furniture and carpets so nothing got ruined. I am having four more windows installed in the coming months downstairs to complete everything.
Description of Work: I had 5 casement windows replaced with 4 double hung and 1 casement window that cranked open (previous window did not open at all).
