Description of Work: Performed a safety recall part replacement installation (under warranty), then added a heater to solve a persistent problem with ice accumulation at bottom of freezer unit. Explained that another separate problem I thought I had was not a problem, and how to change refrigerator settings to solve it. | |The serviceman showed up that morning on time, as promised, worked quickly and efficiently, cleaned up after himself, was quite pleasant, and did not try to sell me any additional services/parts that I didn't need. Have used them in the past, but not for several years, and happy to reaffirm they're still a fine choice for reliable service .

Description of Work: I was referred to American Appliance by the Jenn-Aire online company. My Jenn-Aire stove is over 25 years old and the glass on the inside of the oven door cracked and I wanted to find out if it could be replaced.I had called 2 appliance repair companies prior to American Appliance. One never returned my call. The other gave me the impression that it could not be bothered to repair a stove this old, but at least referred me to Jenn-Aire online. When I called American Appliance and explained the situation, I was told that I would receive a call back in 10 minutes. I received a call back in 10 minutes and was able to schedule an appointment within that week. A very professional man came out to look at the oven. At that time, I decided to have the gasket around the oven door replaced along with the glass. He explained the cost to which I agreed. He informed me how long it would take to obtain the parts. He gave me a receipt and said I would be called when the parts came in to set up an appointment to do the work. I received a call within 2 weeks and an appointment was scheduled for the following day. The job was completed and I was given some advice about self cleaning ovens that is very helpful. Both the service call provider as well as the repair person arrived in a timely fashion. The repair person even called me when he was about 20 minutes away to give me a "heads up" that he would be arriving soon. The estimate that was provided was exactly what I paid. I am very pleased with this service and will definitely use American Appliance again if need be.

Description of Work: Diagnosed a malfunctioning freezer and gave me option of buying and installing the new parts (fan and blade) or paying them to do it.

+ -1 moreWe have had a mixed experience. They have fixed our washers and dryers for years without any problem whatsoever. They tried to fix a refrigerator that they really weren't familiar with. The first time and the second trip were not successful. They ordered a part and had to wait a long time for it. In trying to fix the first refrigerator they broke the foam in the back. The repair wound up being a jerry rigged mess. I wouldn't use them again for refrigerator repairs but I would use them for washer or dryer repair.

+ -1 moreThey are always easy to book, on time, and reasonably priced compared to other repair services I have worked with (much easier to book with short notice, and cheaper than other places). The guys are smart, and have always figured out what is wrong and promptly fixed it. I highly recommend this company for repairing large appliances!
Description of Work: I used American Appliance to repair my Jennair cook top several times (it is 20 yrs old) and they also repaired my Jennair oven on a previous service call.

+ -1 moreThe company was very good, but had a bad experience with my refrigerator. I have two refrigerator. They did not seem very excited when they came out and saw that I have two refrigerators. They seemed polite, but he said "What am I am doing, with two refrigerators". I would recommend this company to work on dryers because they have fixed my dryer before. They still have not fixed the little refrigerator.
Description of Work: They said my auto thaw was not working right. They took the Styrofoam out. They replaced a part.

+ -1 moreWe purchased an extend warranty for our Kitchaid dishwasher and refrigerator which was fortunate given that we've had to make a dozen service calls in the last 19 months. The assigned repair facility was terrible; they were late, didn't show up at all or never had the correct part. We begged the warranty company to send another company out this time and were assigned American. They called the day of the appointment, said they could show up early. The repairman was extremely courteous, remove his shoes before entering the house. As he went to work he put down a drop cloth to protect the hardwood floor. He quickly diagnosed the problem and made some suggestions about other some other problems which had occurred. Unlike the other repair facility he seemed very knowledgeable and was very efficient.
Description of Work: Warranty service call for dishwasher.

+ -1 moreIt went very well. They were flexible with times in setting up an appointment - meeting me earlier in the morning than usual. The guy showed up on time, diagnosed the problem very quickly and fixed it within 30-40 minutes.
Description of Work: The drain pipe in my freezer was blocked up with ice and water was dripping into the fridge. They installed some sort of heater mechanism into the drain pipe so the water would not freeze in the pipe. Apparently, this is a fairly common problem in older fridges.

+ -1 moreIt went pretty well overall. They had to order the parts which necessitated 2 trips to our house. This had the effect of raising the price quite a bit but they did the work very well and were very courteous and professional throughout the process.
Description of Work: They replaced a few broken plastic pieces in our dishwasher. They needed to disconnect the plumbing, pull out the dishwasher, replace the pieces, reconnect the plumbing and fit the dishwasher back in.

When Brian came shortly after a.m. he listened to the noise and suspected the problem right away but gave me the cost before starting any work. When he found the screw which came from the front door mount, he called and got the exact cost of the replacement motor and the labor so I could make a final judgment. He finished in about forty-five minutes and I was pleased with all aspects of the job.
Description of Work: The dishwasher was making a buzzing noise and there was a burning smell, and they came and found a screw in chopping mechanism. Unfortunately they had to replace the burned out motor.

These guys are the greatest. They are very quick to respond, come when they say they will, and are very competitive on pricing. And everyone of their repairmen is completely knowledgeable, competent, and professional.
Description of Work: The drum on my Whirlpool gas washing machine was not spinning. The repairman replaced a part, showed me how it worked and how the new part was a much improved one, this for a 16 year old machine. It has since worked perfectly.

+ -1 moreThe tech (I think his name was Von) was courteous and arrived on time. I explained the problem and he ran some diagnostics and checked the electrical circuit as well. He tested several things before concluding it was the heater coil and said he would order the part. His original visit was on a Monday and the part arrived Thursday. He came promptly on Friday morning and completed the repair in minutes, despite the incessant barking of my two dogs.
Description of Work: Repair technician came out to repair dishwasher. The dishwasher was not drying the dishes and the heater coil was burned out.

+ -1 moreVery positive overall. We called and they came the very next day at the beginning of the 9AM-12PM window they promised. The guy had the part on his truck and replaced it right away. Very informative - told us what he was doing and why along the way. He was very good with our dog as well ;). The only slightly negative thing was the price. $66 part is fine, but I would have liked less than $100 for the half hour of labor.

+ -1 morePoorly from start to finish. To their credit they did not charge for the labor for the second repair, but did charge me for the part.
Description of Work: Technician came out to replace coupler on washing machine. After repair, washing machine overflowed and flooded. When company was called and asked to come back, I was told they were very busy that day and the technician had 5 more calls yet to do. When technician returned he discovered the water fill unit was broken and sent for a replacement which he did the next day. After that repair, a burning smell was noted while the machine was running. I finally called in another repair company rather than deal any more with this one.
