We absolutely cannot say enough good things about our experience with Jason and company. We recently purchased a home and discovered that the brick steps leading to the front door were crumbling. Given all of the other expenses that have gone along with our purchase, we knew it was not in the budget now to completely replace the steps so we looked for a mason who could repair the steps and make them safe. Jason responded quickly to our initial contact with him, he came to look at the project on the following business day and quickly provided a very competitive quote. After we agreed to the work to be done Jason schedule us for the same week. On the day the work was scheduled Jason came early with one assistant and the two worked non-stop, completing the job by approximately 3:00 (much to the delight of my children who watched them out the window for the better part of the morning). Before leaving Jason cleaned up everything and did not leave a trace of evidence that he had even been there, other than the tarp protecting the newly reconstructed steps from the rain, Jason then returned after the steps had dried to power-wash the steps, completing the job. In the end, Jason did far more than simply making the steps safe, the steps now look amazing! We have several masonry projects that we are looking to do in the future at our new home and Jason will be the first person we call for all of the projects. We will also recommend him to friends and neighbors without hesitation.

Notable positive features: 1) Price much more competitive than some other bids, yet work done professionally, happy with outcome. 2) Punctuality of bid: Jason showed up the day of first contact to give an estimate (while returning from another job!) It took a few weeks to get work done but this is not Jason's, fault, we told him we were flexible and could be fit in when a spot unexpectedly opened up. Notable negative features: none. Overall quite happy and would use again for concrete work.

When I decided to install a front walkway I went on Angies list and selected 5 or 6 local masonry companies and called them for a quote. Of the ones that responded and came to my house, Jason made one of the best first impressions and he was very prompt at sending back his quote. I narrowed it down to a couple companies and asked them to come back and go over the details with me so I would know we were all on the same page. When Jason came back, he was so kind and patient and gladly went over all the details. One of the things that impressed us most was that even though it was late in the day and Jason was clearly fatigued from a hard day of work, and this was his second visit here, he willingly offered to get a long garden hose from his truck and he laid it down in my front yard to show us what the width would like and how he envisioned the curve. We were sold and I told him on the spot I would like him to do the job. Jason said that he would be available in about 5-6 weeks or roughly the last week in August and he was. The job took about four days. They had to dig out the yard, level it, (it's a pretty good slope) install five sets of three foot wide solid granite steps, and the pavers in between. These guys were amazing. The first day they showed up at 7:00 AM and worked till 5ish. The second day they showed up at 6:20 AM and the third day they were there at 6:00 AM. Each day I was happier and happier that I had chosen Jason. My neighbors were asking me where I found these guys and would I give them Jason's contact info. When it came to the curve in the walkway they had to cut every paver. Words can't begin to describe it but believe me it is magnificent. Neighbors have said it looks like something from a movie. Through the entire process Jason and his crew were pleasant, polite and professional. He did everything he said he would and he did it when he said he would. They cleaned up after the job and the place looked perfect. I am so grateful to have such a great experience and I so highly recommend Jason
Description of Work: Jason Kirby and his crew built a beautiful three foot wide walkway in the front of my house. The walkway is made of multicolored, multisized stone pavers laid in a specific design pattern that we requested and the steps are made of granite. The walkway starts at my front door, has a beautiful curve to it in the beginning, then goes straight through my front yard out to the street. Jason even built a landing out at the street that has all my neighbors Wow'd

Because of the distance and many responses to the offer, it took some time to schedule but we were in no hurry. Jason the mason brought in another mason who was closer and honored the deal. He followed up and the job was done well.

Jason and his assistant scheduled my job for one of the hottest days in July. They showed up first thing in the morning and got to work. The had a good coordination going with Jason handling the skilled masonry work and his assistant doing the prep work and mixing the mortar. They finished the job in about 3 to 4 hours. Jason said he would come back in several days to do an acid wash final cleaning after the mortar had time to set. He sent a helper to do the acid wash and when I was not satisfied with this final cleaning, I gave Jason a call. He apologized and promised to come out himself to do the acid wash again. He came back on a weekend and did a great job of cleaning, even removing some stains on the brick from long term leaching. He apologized again for the inconvenience of me having to call him. Its nice to hire someone who will make sure that the customer is satisfied. My steps look great. I would recommend Jason to anyone needing this type of work.
Description of Work: I needed some repair on my front entrance steps - brick with bluestone treads and platform, I wanted the treads reset and repointing done on the platform and some of the brickwork. I called Jason based on good comments that he had on Angie's List. He came by to take a look at the job, convinced me that he knew what he was doing, and within 24 hours presented me with a job proposal. I thought it was a fair price. He advised me that he would not be able to do the work for 4 to 6 weeks, which was not a problem for me.

Jason was a pleasure to work with. He showed up promptly to quote the job and he sent his estimate quickly. He gave me the address of a similar project to check out as a reference. He clearly cared that I liked his work - he brought me samples of bricks to approve before he started the job. When the job started, he cleaned up neatly at the end of the day. His workmanship was terrific and we are so delighted we hired him for the project. If we have other masonry projects, we would definitely call Jason.

All work was performed timely and with great professionalism. I would very highly recommend Jason's services. In addition, his workers were equally professional. Got right to work, and finished the job. This job required two visits, and Jason returned as promised. Quality is excellent.
Description of Work: Major repair work. Repaired Chimney that was breaking down and degrading. Brick was falling apart. Patched cement in basement wall where water was trickling in. Repaired front step area, and installed new granite step. Repaired loose bricks in the corner of the house that were loose and coming out.

Jason was excellent. He responded to my request for free estimate right away. He provided the estimate via email the following day. Jason and his team came on a Friday to do the demo. He left the sight clean. They left the siding cleaner than it was before they started the job. You couldn't even tell they were there. They ran into a couple of small problems due to prior repairs and weather. They dealt with it. The estimate was right on except for a small upgrade that I made. No fault of theirs. They were there when they said. They were polite. I would recommend them to other people. I would use them again.

Jason and his assistant Paul did all necessary demolition the first day. Additionally they power-washed the stairs that were to be repaired/repointed. On the second and third days, the team did all the repairs and repointing as well as the actual rebuilding of the rear steps and the front retaining wall. Before starting each aspect of the project, Jason described to me any alternatives I might wish to consider (e.g., a sloping top length to the retaining wall versus a stepped approach) and further consulted during the building process if any question developed. He clearly wished to have his customer fully satisfied with the results. I was particularly impressed by their efforts to restore the work areas when they finished, cleaning up any debris, washing any spilled sand away, etc. The entire multi-part project was performed sooner than it had been originally scheduled and in the 3 work days that Jason had projected.
Description of Work: Front steps: power wash, remove railing, weld legs and reset, grind and repoint steps. Demo 22' retaining wall and rebuild with new block and new cap. Cut tree roots near wall and put gravel behind wall. Stucco other wall, repair caps. Two sets rear steps: remove damaged blocks and reset new blocks. Remove bricks and reset with new bricks and stucco walls.Grind and repoint steps. 100% power wash steps and stucco risers and sides. Furnished all materials and labor.

He seemed like a nice guy. I guess my only concern was he said that he did not really want to come this far. He said "I told the people of Angie's List I did not want to come that far" and I said "well, what do you want to do?". He said "I can drop by when I get the free time the next few weeks" and he said "I can't come back to the acid wash afterwards. You have to do that yourself" and I said, "well I can do that".

Jason from the very beginning was not only fast and responsive. Came to give me an estimate the day after I called him. Gave us a lot of flixibility on the type of pavers and really followed our design but always giving excelent suggestions. Although pavers are more expensive than concrete the pavers look great. He also installed a sump for my down spouts to hide them and installed a conduit tube for my future low voltage landscaping lights. We wanted to do the back patio but we were limited on the budget. i will definitely hire him again. His crew was very professional and they did the work in 4 days. I received so many quotes 4-5. Jason paved an area of 500 sqft. You wont regret hiring him

His asst. Paul first powerwashed the bricks in place and then removed the broken ones and cleaned out the cracks. He then repointed all the seams, rescrubed the bricks and cleaned up. This took all of one day and 1 hour the next. All this done with no bother to me. Would recommend him to others.

Working with Jason was an absolute pleasure - the whole experience from beginning to end was stress free (which rarely happens with contractors). His work is professional as well as beautiful. Jason was prompt on his estimate and began 3 days later - within a week he transformed our back yard. Jason goes above and beyond - even picking up additional cobblestones for me that I bought on Craigslist (his recommendation to save $$) to edge our garden areas. I wish he did more then masonry I would hire him for all of my contracting needs.

My condo building required extensive brick maintenance (repointing, resetting bricks, waterproofing, etc.) following recent water damage. I reached out to Jason for a quote/assessment of the work needing to be done. We arranged a time to meet at the house and Jason was very prompt / showed up at the scheduled time. Jason was thorough in his assessment of what needed to be done and was equally prompt in sending over an estimate. Our condo association ultimately decided to go with another brick mason for the first phase of the work being completed, but we will consider Jason again in the future as the remaining phases of work are completed.

My experience with Kirby Masonry was extremely positive from start to finish. Jason was very responsive to my initial email inquiry and stopped by the next day to take a look at the steps and offer some design ideas. I received his quote within a day or two. The job started within the promised three week window and was done in less than a day. I could not be happier with the results.

These guys were terrific. Fast, efficient...and they even came in under their quoted price of $2,500. Jason Kirby said he did not have to pour a new pad for the bluestone and refunded the difference. Don't come across many people that honest. He even helped us find a part to repair our broken bell drain. I cannot recommend these people higher or with more confidence of a job well done. They even cleaned up the area where they didn't work. And the bluestone looks fantastic. If I knew how, I'd recommend them for an Angie's List commendation.
