Kirby Masonry

Jason Kirby and crew did an excellent job, with fine craftsmanship and attention to detail. This job was to replace a stucco and half timber exterior wall on a historic 1920's English Tudor, so that it matched the detailing and craftsmanship to the rest of the house. Jason assembled a highly skilled team. They competed the job on schedule, Jason communicated regularly about status and next steps, and I couldn't be happier with the result (looks original to the house). Jason's fees are very reasonable, and I would recommend him for any job involving masonry, having worked with him in the past on brickwork as well.

Jason did a fantastic job rebuilding my front steps and walkway. I really appreciate that his estimate was accurate and he did the job precisely as we discussed. I got 3 estimates and his was the best deal. My steps are pretty high off of my driveway, and other masons were not going to rebuild them as far down as he did. He did more than was necessary to do a better and more aesthetically pleasing job. Jason was super patient with me while I took forever to decide on a paver, and he helped me in the process by suggesting possible pavers and giving me samples to choose from. I had a lot of questions throughout the work, and he was prompt in getting back to me about all of them. He was communicative and sent me photos of the work in progress while I was at my job and couldn't be home to see the whole thing myself. After the job was done and I'd already paid, I noticed some details I wanted changed and got back in touch with him. I was impressed that he came back after the fact and addressed my concerns.

Jason and co-workers did an excellent job removing and replacing a garage floor that was beyond repair and installing a new concrete surface under a deck. The work was done over three days, as it involved removal of concrete and excess dirt, installation of subsurfaces, installation of wire mesh reinforcement in the garage, and finally pouring of concrete. They also repaired the foundation and shored it up on the downhill side when they discovered that this was necessary, for no additional cost. The work area was cleaned up to the extent possible after the first and second days, and completely after the job was completed. The finished surfaces are beautiful, and I have confidence that they will last for a very long time. I would give Kirby Masonry my highest recommendation.

Jason surpassed all competitors and my wildest expectations with respect to price, quality, and speed in which he constructed the front steps with stone work integrated into the facade and granite treads. I had already been informed that once demolished, my new staircase would need to include an additional step in order to be up to code. I had two quotes, and got Kirby's number from a neighbor that had a very impressive staircase recently constructed. Jason's quote was more than $1,000 below the previous lowest estimate, which I liked immediately, but he also demolished my old staircase and constructed a beautiful new one with the additional step, and completed all pointing of my stonework surrounding the stairs in a SINGLE DAY. When it was clear it was going to rain that day, he said "No problem" and built a tent around the workspace in order to complete the job. As if all that weren't enough, I had asked he incorporate a number of stones that matched the foundation of my porch into the stairs and he did it beautifully. I am happy to write him a detailed review on Angie's List which is the only thing he asked for in return. I will definitely call Kirby Masonry for projects in the future and would recommend them to anyone. Cheers!

I am extremely pleased with the work that Kirby Masonry did. I had an old all brick stairway (8 feet wide, 7 stairs high) replaced with brick risers and pillars/sidewalls (as original) but with blue mist granite treads. I believe the brick color was Mohawk. I originally thought of using bluestone but Jason suggested blue mist granite. He and his stone supplier, Southridge Farm in Walpole, informed me that bluestone is not as durable, supply is dwindling and is more expensive than blue granite. It was a good alternative to the regular gray granite that is used and I like the look. The mortar in the original brick stairs was disintegrating due to the use of salt for snow/ice melting and I was committed to having a stair surface that would be less permeable to chemicals. Jason and his crew did outstanding work and the results are superb. The new stairs look fantastic and are much safer now that the old brick stairs have been replaced. The new stairs looked so good that I was inspired to have the stair landing leading to the sidewalk and the upper landing leading to the front door replaced as well. The original landings were stamped concrete and were OK but detracted from the look of the new stairs. I had Jason and his crew install both landings with Belgard rectangle pavers (London Cobble Danville Blend for the landings Charcoal for the borders). The finished job added a cleaner, elegant and updated look to the house. In addition to the front stair and landing replacement I had Jason and his crew point the stone foundation of the house. It had been pointed about 15 years ago but I felt it was time to get it done again. I like the work that Jason and the crew had done and was confident that they would do a thorough job with the pointing, too. Jason had time in his schedule to fit in the pointing job so I had it done right after the stairs were replaced. I talked to several masons last fall before selecting Kirby Masonry and was running up against the cold weather for getting the job done. Quotes ranged from $4,000 to $20,000 depending on how much work was involved. Jason's quote was most favorable and he offered different options since I wasn't sure if I was going to replace the pillars/sidewalls or if I needed to replace the landings. He was flexible and provided me with several locations where he was currently doing work or had completed work so I could see what his work was like. I liked that these jobs were local and that he was transparent about his work. He could have done the work last November but we decided to have it done this past spring. Jason offered the best price and could do the job sooner than the others. It took about a week to do all the jobs. After the jobs were done I noticed there was a small gap in the upper landing between the border and the wall where more mortar was needed. I contacted Jason and he took care of it. It was a very small fix and not critical so I was not surprised when it was not taken care of right away. I believe that if I was more concerned about getting this fixed sooner Jason would have done it. Overall, I highly recommend Kirby Masonry and will definitely hire them again for any masonry job I might have. Jason is very timely and communicates mostly by texting and responds quickly. He was there every day working with his crew. They did a great job cleaning up and even replaced the soil in the areas of the lawn next to the side pillars which had been displaced/moved. I have received many compliments on the new stairs and landing from my neighbors and people who parked on the street near the house. Unlike some masons he did not place a sign on the lawn with his company name. I suggested that he might want to but he was ok not doing so. I've had some requests for his contact information which I gladly provide. Since Jason is very busy and if you like his quote I recommend that you get on his schedule as soon as possible. Some tips: Use sand on brick stairs. Salt and chemicals wreck the mortar. Who knew especially when we were trying to keep up during the megastorms of 2014-2015? If you go to Southridge Farm you might want to bring your kids as they have farm animals (including a llama) on site. They have a huge selection of pavers and stones to view. We hired Jason to fix walkways and rebuild a stone wall. Extremely happy with the quality of work and professionalism. Responded in very timely fashion, answered all our questions and gave advice/options at a reasonable price for all the work he did. I highly recommend Kirby Masonry to anyone and certainly will hire him again for future work.

Jason was wonderful to work with!! As someone who knows very little about designing a driveway, Jason was patient, informative and knowledgeable. He took the time to send me samples and pictures and respond to my many inquiries of what my vision of my driveway could look like. Jason and his crew were prompt, professional and did a great job. I would highly recommend using Kirby Masonry.

Price was out of my budget range for this year but I will more than likely hire him to do the job when I can afford it.

I was very pleased with Jason Kirby and his crew. The work was professionally done on time on budget. Jason communicated very well throughout the project, asking questions and explaining options for design and materials, which helped me make decisions as the project progressed.

Jason was very responsive and great to work with. Promptly generated a quote and had great communication. The job was scheduled just when I needed it to be done, and the crew showed up just when expected. I was very impressed at how fast an efficient they were. Had the old concrete pad out within one day, and the new floor fully poured the next day! Came back one more day to do final wrap-up, and left the place looking great (see before & after in the photo). Was great to work with, would hire again, and highly recommend.

Jason was responsive and prompt, both in showing up to discuss the work to be done, and after he was hired for the job. He communicated effectively and punctually when discussing and scheduling the work, including working around weather and scheduling issues with our condo unit owners. They did the work quickly and professionally and did very high quality work, with great attention to detail, including cleaning up after the job was finished. Great job - couldn't be happier with their work

Jason did a wonderful job & not only fixed the top step, but also 2 others that needed resetting! He also secured the bottom of our right handrail with hydraulic cement.

Jason came in and removed about 100 sq ft of cement that had cracks throughout it. He also pulled up and stacked our flagstone. In our basement he patched and repointed the brick, even out the floor slab, and installed three lally columns with footings. He came to see the place on a Monday and the next week he did all of the work with a partner in three days. His price was half of what others were asking for.

After I sent out a description to a few masons near me, Kirby masonry was the most responsive. The entire process of setting up an appointment, agreeing on a fair price, and scheduling the date of service was very quick. About 2 weeks after first contact the job is now complete. It looks very clean and professionally done, just waiting for everything to dry. Couldn't be happier with this experience.

It was good, it was great. So far nothing has caused an issue so I'm assuming it's good. I think overall, great work and we are happy, everything is good. I didn't really go around shopping, I should have, but we went on reputation and getting the work done, so we just went ahead. I focus more on the quality over price so I was happy.

It went very well. They did a great job with no issues and showed up when they said they would. Yes I would use them again, we actually have plans to.

This is a multi-owner situation so this work did not occur.

I can't say enough good things about Jason and his crew. I got an number of positive comments from my neighbors wanting to know who did the work. By all means, shop around, but remember to include Jason on your list. You'll be happy you did.

The repointing part was fine, some spots were missed but called him to return to fix it and he did. The brownstone matching was not as good as expected. It didn't really match and when he came for the quote he said he would try to match it with the current lines. Also missed some of the matching in the original scope of the work that he also had to return a second time as the brownstone looked awkward with patches of it looking new while he left other portions as is.

They were very efficient very clean and they did an outstanding job. They do beautiful masonry work.

The person I talked to could have mentioned over the phone that he is not interested in the job rather than asking for more information and then never reply.

Just try to contact them through Angie's list twice. Never responded. Very disappointed.
