Metro Paving

The crew came early and worked all day to complete the job. Don, the owner, was present and helpful. The results were high quality. Special attention was paid to the way rainwater would flow away from the garage and down to the street. We were very please with the result.

Metro Paving was excellent. Responsive to inquiry, quick and accurate quote. Came with absolutely everything needed to complete the job in under a day. Removed entire original driveway. Regraded entire length of driveway. Added a drain to handle excess water near garage. Quality of work was excellent. Our neighbor is a commercial contractor and was extremely impressed with the beveled, sealed edges the entire length. Today was our first day of heavy rain with the new driveway and it is working out great. No more swimming pool in the middle of the driveway, no more floods in the garage, I no longer scrape the bottom of my car everytime I drive in. Could not be happier with the entire experience end to end.

Don's crew arrived on time and did a superb job in evaluating and executing the driveway installation. I had a wooden ramp to the front door because the previous owner had mobility issues. This ramp was removed to install the new driveway. In removing the ramp Don found a brick landing in front of the entrance door. Don suggested that we leave the brick landing, this was a great idea. Rather then asphalt abutting the front door there would now be a brick landing, which is much more aesthetically pleasing. Some of the bricks in the landing were damaged, Don replaced the damaged bricks. Don built an asphalt berm, about 18 inches from the foundation to prevent water from seeping into the basement. I will fill the depression between the house and foundation with either crushed stone or landscaping. I could not be more impressed with Don and his crew. We solicited bids from several local driveway paving contractors that were recommended in Angie's List. While Metropaving wasn't necessarily the lowest-bid, we were impressed by the explanation of exactly how the work was going to be done, what to expect, and when it would be done. We accepted the bid in October and scheduled the job for 12/3/12; as we were in no rush this was OK with us after receiving assurances that the job could be done so long as the ground wasn't frozen. As luck would have it, we had a rather warm first week in December and the contractors showed up first think Monday morning, 12/3/12. They worked well into the afternoon, and finished the job, putting up yellow tape to caution against driving on the new surface for a couple of days. The new driveway looks great, had better grading/drainage and I am glad we we chose Metro Paving for the job.

The crew showed up on time and everyone was very nice. We did have a problem with the base layer of gravel settling due to a high water table and I was told I'd have to pay several hundred dollars more than the original quote. But in the end, the process went pretty smoothly and they did a really nice job. I love the driveway and just wish I had done it a long time ago.

The estimate was done quickly and thoroughly and a date for the job given on the spot should we decide to proceed. We did, and the workers showed up early and had the driveway dug up and ready for paving very quickly. It was completed when we got home and taped off with absolutely no mess or loose gravel left behind. They included part of the sidewalk and matched the seams perfectly so it is completely level. Would recommend without hesitation.

Don and crew a few minutes before their scheduled start time. The crew was very professional and polite. We worked together to define the new driveway's boundaries which included several curved sections since the garage is not parallel to the road. I then left for work. When I returned they were putting the finishing touches on the new driveway. They went above and beyond my expectations with regard to the amount of material used (stone, binder layer, finish layer) They also include a small berm near a section of steps to prevent water running into that section. I called before the scheduled date and was told to expect them to arrive between 7AM and 7:30 AM. I was pleasantly surprised to see they arrived early. Also, under my driveway is a natural gas line with shut off value coming from the road to my home. They worked with National Grid to raise the valve cover up to even with the new driveway.

Tree roots were starting to wreak havoc with our already tired driveway so we had Metro give us an estimate (they were one of several). They came by over on a Sunday to look at the job and we hired them a few days later to do the work. They showed up early to the jobsite and had the job completed in the early afternoon. The new driveway looks great! No more roots, no more scraping of the front airdam on the car when backing out. I can't wait for the asphalt to cure so we can try it out! I would recommend Metro Paving to anyone in need of asphalt work.

Metco Paving and crew were FANTASTIC. Use Metco Paving again... I have asked for a quote on another driveway in Brookline. Don and Sheila Doucette of Metco Paving are a pleasure to do business. Professionals from start to finish. Great price and a great job on the date scheduled. Driveway looks beautiful...not a usual statement about paving a big driveway. Angie's List members(and non-members) make note: I had the unique opportunity to watch Metco Paving at another location two weeks before my driveway. For two days, I observed the Metco crew spending hours grading the driveway away from the house/pool/garage. The homeowner explained that many years ago the driveway was paved w/o proper grading and in the winter and spring water would pool and freeze. The Metco crew did an incredible job under the watchful eye of Don Doucette. As important...after Day 1., Metco Paving left to return for Day 2, but cleaned up EVERTHING. Short of excavation.....nothing on the sidewalk...nothing on the street. Day 2, job finished.......other than a beautiful driveway ......nothing on sidewalk, street, property. I had the same experience. Great paving job and clean as could be. I highly recommend Metco Paving.

Great company and we would definitely work with them again. Don gave us a very fair quote. Don and his team arrived on the scheduled day on time and worked the whole day to excavate, re-grade and pave our driveway. One side of our driveway is on our property line and the other side is right against the house. They were very good about keeping on our side of the line and the edges look fantastic - even the side that goes right up against our fieldstone foundation. There is a clean line with absolutely no splatters on the foundation. They graded the surface extremely well; the driveway drains and there is no standing water. We drove on the driveway for the first time and it is like glass. Metro Paving does a fantastic job and I would highly recommend them.

Overall an excellent experience. They arrived when they said they would, with a crew that was very pleasant, hardworking and professional. They did finish excavation and laid down an asphalt driveway in a small area that took some creativity to work out the details. They were very willing to work with us to figure out the best way to complete the project, working with us every step of the way to make sure we were happy and that it worked. The finished product is excellent. I would recommend this company without reservation!

They were absolutely professional throughout the day, showing up when they were supposed to, etc. They did an excellent job in widening and repaving. This included getting the pitch of the driveway correct as well. I washed off my truck in the driveway the other day and the water drained to the side as it should rather than running down the whole driveway as it would have on our old driveway. Can't say enough good things. I would definitely use them again. Thank you for your great service.

He was excellent and very fairly priced. I had contacted a lot of paving companies he ended doing work for me and my neighbor. He came when he said he was going to and the crew worked very hard. Because of how good the driveway went I had them out to do a little extra work.

They came within a couple of me calling to do an estimate. They were very informative during the estimate process. They did a wonderful job! They called me the day before to let me know when they'd be here, and they were here right on time. Their attitude was great! All the workers were very pleasant and nice. They left everything very clean after the job! I now open up the side door, on occassion, to see how nice everything looks! I thought the price was very fair. I would recommend them to anyone that needs this kind of work done.

From the point that I hired them, they scheduled the job 2-3 weeks out and then called about a week before that date and asked if they could come the following day. It worked out and I was happy to have them come sooner. They showed up on time and were done by the time we got home from work that day (probably much sooner). The only thing that was a little strange was that they didn't tell me that they would need payment that day. I didn't want to pay them before I had a chance to inspect the completed work so I said that they could come back at 6pm that evening to pick up their check - which they did. Not a big issue, but it would have been good to tell me in advance that they prefer a check that day instead of mailing one in afterwards. Overall, very happy with the work and timing.

Fantastic. They were a bit delayed because of weather (humid/rainy) but when they came, they CAME! Cleaned it all up, moved stuff we forgot to and had it all done within about 1 1/2 hours. Cheaper than a divorce. (And about $25 than another estimate I got.)

Went very well. Called Tuesday, came Friday to give a quote, did the service on Saturday. Driveway looks great, pleasant, responsive guy.

They came and I told them I was looking for an estimate. He was right on time. He shook my hand and he was a very pleasent guy. He gave me an estimate and it looked good. I asked him when he could start and he said a couple of days. They called me on a Thursday night and said they would be there on the 3rd. They, again, were there right on time. They got it all laid down and cleaned up everything after they were done. He did a very, very good job.

We were very pleased with the services provided by Metro Paving. It started with my call and message left at the office and two return calls within the next 6 hours from Sheila Doucette trying to reach me. We scheduled a time for Don Doucette to come and give an estimate for the following Saturday at 9am. Don was there promptly at 9am. His estimate of $2300 seemed quite reasonable. We called the next day to say that we would like to go ahead. Because of family visits we scheduled the work for July 14. At 6:45am on July 14, Don and his team were there. We were there all day and watched as he and the team did the work that we described above. We were impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of every member of the team. At one point I asked Don about the constant use of a level. He explained that it was not to make the driveway even and flat but, to the contrary, to insure that there was a grade heading down and away from the house to the garden and down and away from the garage to the street. (I have since watched during downpours as the water moves both away from the house and down to the street.) We appreciate that when the work was completed a little before 5pm and everyone was leaving, he took us aside and made us aware that it takes time for the asphalt to fully harden. He suggested a few dos and don'ts and handed us a print-out with more detailed information. All in all, having the driveway replaced by Metro Paving was a positive experience.

They were reasonably priced. I liked them. They came and gave a reasonably quote. They seemed to be professional. They were recommended to me. They did what they said they were going to do and did when they said they were going to do it.

The job went very well. The crew was cognizant of the issues of blocking traffic on a busy street. They made certain that there was minimum disruption to traffic, which saved me having to hire a police detail. The work went as expected with removal of the old driveway and replacement of crushed stone and two layers of asphalt. There were no problems. It went as promised.

Don was very prompt, showing up exactly when expected for both the estimate and the actual work day. All work was completed within the allotted day. He and his crew asked frequent questions, and followed all directions to a T. He agreed to bring in loam from a third party, and when my estimated amount wasn't enough, he went back and got a third load. The driveway is absolutely perfect, and the price was extremely competitive! The crew was very clean and picked up after they were done. I wish they would have been a little more careful about not stepping on my plants, but to be fair, they were just starting to emerge for spring and were very small and perhaps hard to see. My only disappointment is that I got a little bit of an attitude when I requested that they spread the loam around (not just leave it in one massive 6 foot high pile). I thought we had already discussed spreading it around when I agreed to the job--not landscaping per se, just using their equipment to move it into more manageable piles so we could finish up the spreading by hand. I would have even been willing to pay extra to have them do it while they were out, but day-of I was told that it really wasn't their job. Despite that exchange, though, they did in fact do an excellent job spreading the first two loads of dirt--so much so, in fact, that I was able to put down grass seed that very day with no additional hand raking. The third load, however, was left in one large pile, but considering that I underestimated the amount needed, I can't really complain. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would definitely use Metro Paving again.

Metro paving ripped out my old driveway and put in a new one. The results are fantastic. They re-graded, made nice clean saw cuts at the garage and street, and just did a great job. It rained the other day and the drainage was just like they said it would be! They showed up bright and early and did the job in one day. No collateral damage to my lawn and no mess left when they were done. They put down 3+" of asphalt - 1.5 inch base and 1.5 inch topcoat. I'd definitely use them again
