JLM Gutter Cleaning Service

My telephone calls were returned promptly, communication from there office was excellent. They said they would be at my house between 7:30-8:30 and they arrived at 7:30. The work looks good, I'm actually looking forward to a rainy day to see how the gutters work. The price was slightly higher than the estimate ($25) but that was for four new elbows.

I contacted them by email to ask for a quote. Since they hadn't cleaned my gutters before, they had someone drive by while I was at work and I was given a quote by email for $60. I had mentioned I found them through Angie's list, I mentioned the coupon and asked if it would be $50 with the coupon and I was told yes. The work was done within a few days of me contacting them.

I called to arrange to have two straight gutters and two downspouts cleaned on my one-story house. The night before they were due to arrive, I got a bill from a yard service I occasionally use saying they had cleaned my gutters and downspouts just a few days before. After confirming that the bill was correct, and they had indeed done the work, I called JLM to cancel. I didn't reach anyone but left a message. I got a call-back later and explained the situation, and the woman said she couldn't reach the guys, but I should ignore the bill they left and it would be adjusted. Two days later, Louie called and said he had sent 3 guys out to my house and had to charge me the full amount, $135, even though they only set up their ladders and did no cleaning. I understand that I should be charged something, since they did show up and set up their ladders, but the fact is that they didn't do any work and were able to go on to their next job sooner than planned.

It was a great experience. From the initial call to the completion of the job. Their quote was $30 to $50 less than other companies I called. And their quote was accurate after the job was done. They came on time and called me back when I had questions.

As others have reported, we tried to call but got only voice mail options with no indication of who the people were. Submitted a request on the website and all communication was via email. An estimate was given via email based solely on the description of our house as a colonial. Appointment was set up and it was unclear whether it was for a detailed estimate or the work; we were unable to get a straight answer via email. They couldn't give us an appointment window until the day before which was for 2-4:30pm on a Saturday. They did not show up and did not call. An email the following work day indicated apology, that scheduler (or whoever the person is emailing) was sick all weekend and asked if we wanted to reschedule for next Saturday. We declined based on unacceptable responsiveness and professionalism.

We were put on the wait-list for technicians next available appointment in our area and they were able to come sooner than expected. We have routinely used JLM.

Called for appointment, they provided estimate over the phone based on house size, and completed the task on schedule.

They were great. They came by the first time and suggested that they wait to clean the gutters, as the trees still had some leaves on them. When they came back, they were quick and efficient and left us with clean gutters. Thank you!

I was very happy with the work JLM completed for us. They were on time for the repair, completed the work quickly and cleaned up nicely. They were very easy to work with and did a good job on the replacement of the gutter.

The crew arrived on time, very speedily got to work, did the cleaning and when finished they cleaned up the debris on the ground before leaving. We are pleased with their work.

JLM is very responsive to your calls. I usually leave them messages over the weekend and get a call back first thing Monday morning to schedule a cleaning. Early in the fall they are usually out in a day or two, but in late fall it can be two or more weeks to wait for a cleaning. You may want to schedule those cleanings in advance. Also, there is often a coupon in the Angie's List magazine.

Not knowing anything else, I'd say there were a bit expensive. But they were the only ones who returned all calls (for estimate and booking), and they came on time and finished the job quickly and efficiently.

A gutter cleaning service we used over the summer pointed out some needed repairs and quoted what seemed like an excessive price that caused us to shop around for more quotes. I called JLM to take a look and provide recommendations and a quote. At first they said they saw no problems, but then I pointed out an end cap that usually drips water, even in dry weather. After looking closer at the problem, they said they could make the repairs right then and it wouldn't take long. In about 20 minutes they sealed the gutter end cap and re-pitched its small section to drain towards the downspout. They were friendly and professional, and they'll be the first people I call the next time I need gutter work done.

There were a few problems with the installation, but only when Louie was not around. JLM was extremely responsive to correcting the problems. Problem one was overbilling by about $200 for fascia replacement that wasn't done. Problem two was leaking of the gutter on the North side (Louie re-sealed at no charge). Problem three was breaking a few cement shingles on the South side of the house. Didn't think it was a problem until squirrels ate through the wooden shingles underneath and got into my attic. Squirrel eviction and repair cost $1250! (I was not reimbursed, but cement shingle damage may have started it off, but could have happened regardless). Problem four was that water was remaining in the East gutter, probably the cause of why the gutter needed to be cleaned so much on that side. I paid for the first cleaning, JLM waived the cost for the second cleaning and re-pitched the gutter. Bottom line is Louie is great, but had plenty of problems with the quality of the work.

I got this name off the list and tried to call them. No call back for about 2 weeks. Then a woman called back and said she had been sick. She was going to try and set me up with someone to do an estimate but no one ever called back.

They arrived on time and did the job quickly and efficiently.

First, it was very difficult to actually speak with a person rather than voice mail. They offer 3 voice mailboxes to choose from, by name, but don't give you any idea what role any of those people play. After I did not get a response from mailbox #1, I called back and tried #2, which did the trick, except that she was never actually at her desk. She wanted me to give her a description of my house over the phone, and she then gave me a quote in the same manner, without anyone coming out to look. They did come out the day they said, except that they came in the AM instead of the PM when they said they would, and reportedly got in the way of someone I had already working at the house. He complained that they blew debris all over his truck without advising him to move it. Although they picked up most of the debris, there was still some left when I got home. As for the price, I see by running down the other reports that I seem to have been charged much more than others but don't know why.

My phone call was returned the same day and the workers were out the next day. Once it rained, I could confirm that the problem is indeed gone.

The only problem was that I never got to speak to someone only communicated by voice mail.

Very polite. Prompt response to my email inquiry. The workers came when promised and were done with the job very quickly. However, the gutter cleaning was not complete after their first visit. They forgot to do one set of gutters on a lower floor. I noticed the problem a few days later, called, and the scheduler arranged for her team to come back quickly and finish the job.

JLM was quick to call back and their work crew arrived on the dot. The entire job took less than 15 minutes. I am very pleased with the whole experience.

The cleaner came at 7;20AM when I specifically asked that they come after 10AM. Besides waking us up, my husband found out that I was having the gutters cleaned, a job that he wanted to do himself. This is a problem for me. The person doing the cleaning said that he did not check any time constraints before he came over. He did say that he was sorry but that is too late for me.

Tried to contact them to make an appointment and there wasn't any answer at the ''800'' number on your list. I called information and got another number for them (a toll call). I called that number and the phone rang at least 20 times; no answer, no answering machine, no answering service. Not a good way to run a business!

The work was performed on the day scheduled and done to my satisfaction.
