JLM Gutter Cleaning Service

Pros: - They were punctual. - They performed a couple of last minute fixes on the gutters they noticed during the cleaning. - Good professionalism and courtesy of the front office staff, specifically Ann. -- Gave a C rating b/c Ann was nice, would have been lower otherwise - Front office rescheduled guys to reclean the gutters. (see below) Cons: The first time they came for the service on 8/12 they did not completely clean the gutters on my house, leaving the gutters on one side of my house dirty. I called the main office and spoke with Ann (very nice lady); she indicated they would probably return on Tuesday. Fast-forward to today...they returned today without confirmation of date and time. I was upstairs at the time when I heard them on the roof. When I walked downstairs, I saw two of the men standing in my backyard. Knowing the backdoor was open (clearly open) and that shoes were outside, I walked to the door and found a puddle of water on the wood floor by the door and soaked shoes on the patio...mind you the inside of my house and the shoes were all under a slight "awning" below the roof. When I called attention to the fact that the door was open, my floors were wet and the shoes were soaked, one of the guys standing in the yard looked at me and said ,"Oops. Sorry," in a rather disrespectful tone. As the guys were leaving and two were in the backyard rolling up the hose, they were laughing at the situation. -- I was disappointed at the lack of professionalism on their part. While they did come back to clean that side of my house, in my eyes this experience is akin to the "spit in your food" image when sending back food at a restaurant. I will not be using these folks again...coupon or not.

I called with a complaint about the service but have not received a response. The workers arrived on time and proceeded to dry clean my gutters. They used a blower. I have never had them dry cleaned except when the weather was extremely cold. I went outside and pointed out the mess and they said we will clean it. That is not possible as I have shrubs and gardens surrounding my whole house. There was debris left in the shrubs and gardens, dust dirt and pollen blew in to my windows and sliding glass doors which were all open. I thought it odd that they did not tell me that they would be blowing out the gutters so that I would have had a chance to close everything up. It was way to messy for me. They were only here a maximum of 15 minutes if that. I would not hire you again.

Called and left message at 800 number for Ann. Her voice mail indicated she was not in and the days she was in. I received a return call the next day she was supposed to be in the office. She asked a few questions about the property to be cleaned, gave an approximate cost, and we set an appointment date. She assured me that the work could be completed with out anyone having to be home. On the scheduled day of the appointment, I came home from work to find a bill for less than I was quoted in the mailbox. Gutters were done very well and the lawn on the side of the house that was cleaned was not at all disturbed.

At the time of the cleaning they blew the debris all over the newly raked lawn. Some of the gutters were still not running well and debris was coming out of the bottom end. I thought they would be back soon for the repair and I would have them recheck the gutters for debris. They couldn't come until Dec 30, said they would call a couple days before. When they didn't I called them. They said they'd be there on that day sometime between 11-1. They never showed. Sometimes they would randomly call and leave a message they were coming a certain week, but then didn't. I gave up on them and was going to find someone else in the spring. Then one midwinter day they left a note they had come but it was frozen. They came back in Feb and were there one day when I happened to come home at lunch. I spent my time discussing the gutter cleaning problem. After they left I looked at the downspout they had installed. It was crooked and not straight down the side of the house but angled to the front of the porch and railing so it couldn't be anymore obvious from the front of the house. The elbow installed was lopsided and there were all these convolusions to get it down the side of the house. It was bolted tightly against my newly painted beams. I can't imagine this guy would have done such a sloppy careless job on his own home. My neighbor has the same style house/porch and has a gutter downspout in the same place. It is tastefully and inconspicuously attached, straight down. I walked around my neighborhood and all but one house had the downspout in the same place attached like my neighbors. The one that was like mine looked just as bad. I called and complained. The secretary left a message and said the guy, I guess the owner, would call me back when he got in the office. I waited all night, no call and no call the next day. By Friday still no call, but I got the bill in the mail! I called and left another message. Finally the guy called on friday. I explained how disappointed I was in the work and that he could look at my neighbors house. That's how I wanted it and that seems to be the normal way to do it. We agreed we would set up a time to meet so it could be change to my satisfaction so we wouldn't have to keep on with this. He ended up having come back again when I wasn't there, straightened the downspout, drilled new holes in the beam and bolted (which I had said I did not want it attached to the body of the beam-like my neighbors), left the old holes, looks like he fixed the angle of the elbow. I called back again and ended up talking to him on the phone. I reminded him we had agreed to meet. He said he couldn't do that with his schedule. I said then why did you agree to it. He said he could come out again and try to meet on a certain day between 12-4. When I said I could meet between 1-4 as I had a doctors appt. he said he couldn't do that. He had a very raised voice throughout the conversation and hung up on me at one point.

Started the job and were supposed to install gutters with screenings, and spouts. Forgot to install gutter, screening and a spout on one side of the home. Returned and installed the gutter and spout. However, when it rained, the water poured between the gutter and the wall of the house. It was difficult to get the owner to respond to our problem, Louie, the owner finally promised to come back and install flashing which was supposed to solve the problem. When I called him again to remind about finishing the job, he told me that we have to pay in full first (we had paid a deposit). I suggested that he first finish the job after which I will be happy to pay. At this point he became abrasive and said "you are pathetic". Am not sure what he had in mind apart from being unprofessional. He also added that he does not think there is a problem. Next, I called in a roofer recommended by Angie's list, who examined the work and told me that the gutters are not sealed to the roof, so the water simply pores down the walls missing the gutters. He recommended sealing the gutters to the roof.

They scheduled the work to coincide with the end of the leaf drop. They came on the scheduled time and performed the job in a timely manner. Very professional.

They worked out extremely well. They were very attentive, prompt, and I would use them again. The prices were a little on the high side.

We booked an appointment and at that time I requested a certificate of the workers compensation and liability insurance. A week later I received the workers comp insurance certificate, but not the liability one. The appointment was for the next day, so I called the office and Ann told me she did not realize that I wanted both certificates. She said she would order the liability certificate for me but it would take a week to arrive, so I rescheduled the appointment. I did receive the liability insurance certificate a few days later. On the day of the appointment, the workers were supposed to show up between 8am-12 noon. I waited around during that time because I wanted to talk with them after they worked. They did not show up during this time. I had to leave. When I returned the next day, I found a bill in my mailbox and an email from Ann stating that the workers had cleaned my gutters. I am glad that they did show up but I was frustrated that they were not on time. My gutters are working better now that they are clean, so all in all it was an okay experience, although not amazing. The price was the cheapest quote I got, so I guess the saying, you get what you pay for applies.

I phoned JLM to schedule a time for gutter cleaning. My call was returned the following day and the cleaning was scheduled for the following week (Tuesday before Thanksgiving). They were supposed to call the day before and let me know what time someone would be arriving. It was pouring that day, so I was not surprised that they didn't show up. I was surprised, though, that I never received a phone call telling me if/when my cleaning had been rescheduled. They arrived, with no prior warning, at 8:00 on Sunday morning. They just rang the doorbell and began the work. They left the newspaper at the front door (rather than putting it between the doors) and it got wet. I am glad the work got done, but there are lots of companies out there that clean gutters and I doubt that I would use this one again.

Prompt to come and clean the gutters. Personable. Done w/job in 5-10min. Used a blower to clean gutters so the debris was blown all over the ground. I asked them to clean it up and they just blew it around w/the blower so it was scattered and less obvious. That I didn't appreciate, as it make it harder for me to clean up the mess on the ground afterward. Did not test the clogged gutters w/hose(someone told me they are supposed to do that). However, they said the blower would clear out the spout. We've had rain and the water does indeed come out the previously clogged spout so the job was satisfactory. I think they should clean up the mess they take out of the gutters though.

To the best of my recollection, they said that they would call before they came and they didn't. They were polite and professional at the door and wore the company shirt that gave me confidence that they were legitimate. The gutters seem to be flowing fine, so I think that they did good work.

Responsive to call. Showed up next day at my Natick 2-story home. Succeeded in getting leaves out of all gutters despite temps. in the 30's. Cleaned leaves/debris that had fallen from the gutters to the ground. Only (small) snag was the invoice they left accidentally was meant for someone else in my town that they must have done work for the same day. Not a big deal. These folks are as good as you would hope given their high Angie's List rating. Use them.

It went well overall. I was a bit concerned at first because they were supposed to show up on November 4th, election day, but they didn't and they didn't call. I called them on the 5th and they sent someone right away. I didn't have to be home for the service, so I didn't actually watch them work, but the job was done and the price was cheaper than I thought it would be. They also sent me an estimate of what it would cost to replace the gutters. I didn't ask for it, but it was an indication of how bad the gutters really were to clean. The contractor who was supposed to come in 2007, never showed. The gutters were a mess and I was grateful to have them cleaned before the first snowfall. I would use them again and would recommend them to friends.

We've been using JLM to clean our gutters for several years. We have them come automatically a few times a year, which is great since I don't have to remember to call them. The price is very reasonable, it's $240 to clean the gutters on our large 3 story Victorian, which is divided into 2 condos (and the house is surrounded by lots of trees). We've also had them do work to replace some gutters that were falling apart, and re-route a downspout to an area with better drainage. They always show up when they say they will, they are fast, and they clean up after themselves so well that the yard looks better after they've come than it did before.

Very well. Got the quote the next day.

Our original appointment was canceled due to a family emergency. I appreciated that they called to tell us that they were canceling the appointment and the reason. We were able to re-schedule the appointment and they arrived promptly on the scheduled day and cleaned out our gutters within 30 minutes. The bill was placed in the mailbox. I went out to speak with them and he told me how the gutters on one side of our house were completely clogged, probably because we have a big tree there. He suggested that we get our gutters cleaned twice a year.

They are good. At times they can be hard to get a hold of, but when they come they do good work and it's reasonable price.

They showed up on time, performed scheduled tasks and were professional to work with.

It went well. I played phone tag at first to make the appointment. They quoted $100 to clean the gutters. They came out within a week. We had been trying to get these gutters cleaned for months and other companies never showed. I'm really pleased that they offer a contract for routine cleanings so I don't have to chase someone down when we need it done.

The work went excellent. I will always use them.

They did a very good job. They came on time. I am actually having them come back to do more work for us. They charged exactly what they said they would. It was clear what needed to be done. They didn't make up things that needed to be fixed. They used high quality materials. They are the most reasonably priced company around. They do an excellent job. I think that they are a little understaffed for as much work as they do, but with the economy that's the way everyone is.

I called to have them come by and give me a quote. They performed the quote that day. They put me on the books to have the work done. I did not have to be there for any of this. I asked about gutter caps - which they said were not necessary for my place (which was nice to know they weren't trying to just press me to make more money). They did the work on the day they said. They invoiced me later. They took off $10 from my service for an Angie's List Coupon.

They also did one gutter repair, satisfactory.

We called on a Thursday. After some phone tag, they arranged to come on Monday, just a few days later. Our house is on a sloping grade, so the back gutters are 3 stories high. They came with a crew, ladders and equipment, cleaned the gutters, cleaned up after themselves and were gone in less than half an hour.

They appear to have done a fine job and we will use them for regular gutter cleanings from here.
