Excellent Job! Arrived 10 minutes into the expected hour - time window. Three workers came with a truck, introduced themselves, then entered the property. All together we went over what was going, what was not, what needed special care and what was fragile. The supervisor then went over the contract completely, specifying the expectations then they began work. No problems at all. Truck was fully loaded and ready to move in about 2.5 hours. To the new site, truck was unpacked and furniture was put in place as desired in less than 2 hours. Zero damage or difficulties.

I would highly recommend this moving company. They made the planning and execution so easy. It actually came in a little under cost which was a pleasant surprise. Movers were fantastic as well - they were quick, careful, and helpful. Tried a million ways to get a couch up to a higher floor to no avail, but I really appreciated the effort!
Description of Work: Planning the move with Rob was easy and estimates were right on target. Movers showed up on time and were very quick and efficient - and pleasant to work with despite the high heat! They were very careful with everything and explained what they were doing each step of the way.

I had moved several times with Gentle Giant and was a little sick of their high rates. They were always very good, but the prices were steep. My quote for them for this moved was $212 an hour--- Issac's was maybe $160 or so. 4 guys and a truck for both quotes. My neighbor and coworker both liked them so I figured I would try them out. The guys were pretty good. They worked incredibly hard and quickly. The 4 times I've used Gentle Giant-- the guys have always been a little bit more clean cut-- ie. they were overly polite, didn't smoke and what not. I'd say Gentle Giant is generally better in this area; but I am being nit picky; they are hauling stuff. Both do a fine job. They had some sort of insurance they sold me at the beginning. I am not so sure I even know what I bought. I probably should have opted out-- it was like $200. I wish I have been given more information about this on the phone so I could have been made a more informed decision. Ask about this up front. They spent a lot of time and wrapped everything well. Packed well. Some things did break-- but we packed those ourselves and it is probably our fault. They were pretty careful with the boxes. One of the issues we ran into was the truck was too small. This is probably my fault as I probably under estimated the number of boxes. My storage area was packed to the brim-- and filled the truck up. We had to make two trips. This drove the cost up a bit over the estimate. Again, I think this falls on me as I didn't request they send someone to inspect first. I was actually pretty pleased with the way it was handled. They called for a second truck-- but I asked to do two trips instead. Given all this; I would use them again. If I were totally 100% price insensitive, I'd use GG. If I were looking to pay a fair amount for a good quality mover-- I'd use them again.

We checked Angie's List for movers for an out of state move. Isaac's had good ratings so we contacted them for an on-site estimate. William came out for the estimate and was friendly and answered the questions we had while he was taking inventory. He said he would e-mail us an estimate within a couple of days. So we waited. Estimates from the other 2 movers had come in but not from Isaac's. We waited. E-mailed William asking about the estimate. He left a voice-mail apologizing that the estimate must have got lost and would re-send it. The estimate arrived. Normalizing for the different weight estimates, Isaac's estimate was close to 25% less than the other 2 for the 'linehaul' charge which is the big one. Sent an e-mail asking a couple of questions about the estimate. Waited for a response. Waited. Three days later sent a follow-up e-mail asking about a response to the previous e-mail. Waited. Still waiting. Went with another mover due to lack of responsiveness. Yes, could have called, but I like things in writing.

Response from Isaac's Moving & Storage
[member name removed] is correct in his report regarding some delayed responses by one of our salespeople over the course of approximately a two week period. We pride ourselves in providing a highly professional move from start to finish but I must admit that the most challenging task for our salespeople is maintaining lines of communication open and relevant throughout the relationship with the customer. We do approximately 4000 moves per year during the high season, and maintaining order to our process is undoubtedly the most difficult part of the job and thankfully, it rarely ever happens. I want to apologize to our valued customer for not maintaining the level of communications that was warranted and I can only hope that other potential Angies List customers will not hesitate to reach out to Isaacs Moving and Storage based on this review. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Angies List members over the past several years and look forward to cultivating more relationships in the future. One of the most rewarding days I experienced in the past year was when we received notification that we were being honored with the Angies List Super Service Award for 2012. We are celebrating our 25th Anniversary this year and hope to maintain this level of super service for the next 25 years! Jon Dalzell General Manager Isaacs Moving and Storage

Rob Arrowsmith was very helpful in making arrangements, providing cost estimates, providing emergency phone numbers, etc. The movers ran into traffic coming to Somerville so were about 45 minutes late. BUT once they were there, they worked relentlessly in 90 degree heat; very professional and well prepared to lower furniture over balcony, etc. Received two follow up phone calls from the general manager about how the move went. He was very apologetic about the lateness (I almost feel badly reporting it! It wasn't that big a deal).

Unfortunately, this was the worst professional move I have experienced. I have moved four times previously. Agreed to go with Isaac's because of quote, and reviews on Angie's list. Day one, starts off very chaotic. Three men come in, promising to save me money on packaging, and how great they are. They have me sign papers, including one requesting a tip of 10% to 15% of total cost. Thats a large amount of money considering we are going across country. Lots of running around and shouting and chaos. They start complaining I have a lot of stuff. I buy everyone lunch. After lunch, they call in two more men. They don't speak english. I have some in-window air conditioners. i'm not taking all of them. One of the men suggest I give an air conditioner to one of the non speaking english ones. I do. To which I say, "thats your tip" . Lots of negative moans and groans and an "oh wow, thats bad" . Its a humid afternoon. I give them water, Ice Tea, soda. They leave for the day. Day two. Lots of complaining again. i have too much stuff. I pre packed a lot of items. And glad I did. As I unpack, i am amazed at what was packed together. a very heavy Item with a delicate item. of course the delicate was smashed. A lot of things get smashed.. In the afternoon there is a lot of confusion amongst the men of what is going and what is not. My son is not moving with us .I identify whats what. I end up with a lot of the items that were suppose to stay. As I am checking on things through out the house, I notice a box with what looked like wrapped glasses next to their trash of empty tape rolls. I investigate and unwrapped six cold beers , exactly like the beer I had in my refer. And low and behold when I checked the refer, six beers were gone!Everyone was aware not to pack that food in the refer. I checked with the supervisor on the job, before I showed him the beer. Making sure it was understood not to pack the food. He said yes he was aware. When I asked about the beer, he said it was an honest mistake. i spoke with a manager a few days later. He made me feel better about it for a while. I did not want on my conscience that I got someone fired. I still don't. Altho thats exactly what would happen to me if I were to take someones beer while on the job. That same afternoon, one of the smaller trucks rolled into the neighbors car, because the driver didn't set the emergency brake. When the truck arrived at my new house, there were several boxes smashed. It was a mess. And the wrapping of items was so poorly done. There were four boxes half full, then filled with unfolded paper. No scrunching, twisting or squishing to protect the items from getting crushed. Just a thick amount of heavy paper, stuffed into a box. Paper is very heavy, and packing it like that must add to the weight of the box, which hikes up the price. I wish I took pictures of that. I haven't finished unpacking, I do have a lot of boxes, but as soon as I unpack a broken item, or cant find something, it brings on a slew of emotions. It makes me very sad. I stop unpacking and get frustrated, wonder why this is so lousy of a pack job. What else did they steal? Probably nothing but I cant help it. I havent begun the process of making a claim. From what I've read on Yelp, its a hassle.takes a lot of time. I would love to get my money back,.My suggestion for a move is sell everything! Don't use a mover. Its a pain in the neck, takes forever to unpack, with a lot being broken, missing. Sincerely, Nancy 8/3/13. UPDATE I was contacted by the General Manager after he read my review on Angie's list. He stated that my review would put him out of business. He promised he would make everything all right if I took the review down. I imagined small children crying when their parent came home jobless, and wanted to believe him in his statement, so I did take it down, and also a review I posted on Yelp. (I recommend reading yelps reviews re: Isaac's.)He mentioned, but never really offered, that he had people who could unpack and organize my belongings. After I contemplated it, I decided I do not want any Isaac's employees in my house, regarding the attempt to steal beer.I just felt I would be constantly wondering if someone was stealing something. I didn't need nor want that anxiety. I have enough over this. (He did speak with the employees who were at my house and confirmed all of the above was true, and apologized for the substandard service. ). I would also like to say that they packed a fishing rod that is probably 6 feet long, in a box that is 3 feet long. Needless to say, half the rod is sticking out of the box, and of course the rod is broken. That pretty much describes how the packaging went The general manager and I talked on the phone a few times and he talks a good talk. I began to email him, #1 being busy, #2 he talked the talk, and through email I informed him I wanted a monetary settlement. He insinuated I was extorting money, and unwilling to co-operate with him. I was making inappropriate demands. I think by taking off the review showed I was willing to work with him. I found as long as I agreed to his terms everything was good. But once I wanted a different ending I was uncooperative, extorting money, and inappropriate.... I wanted an overcharge taken off. Somehow the estimate that was given at first, was 4000 pounds lighter than the actual weight and it brought the cost up several thousand dollars. I had two living room chairs and a side table that were extras. We were told we had a year to pay. So once he was informed we owed them, he refuses to communicate. I will dispute this overcharge, and will update this review. I had to stop the unpacking for a while, because every time I unwrapped something or opened a box, I found it is either broken, dented, scratched, chipped, dinged, cracked. I would get so upset I spent the day bashing the people of Isaacs and not being productive. As I have begun to unpack again, there is some thing wrong in every box. Its unbelievable. I regret this so much. Next time I will NEVER hire a moving company, EVER! I will sell all of my furniture, and buy new furniture when I get there. It will probably be cost the same, and it wont be broken, chipped, dented, scratched, etc. during the time this that I was unpacking, there was a special about moving companies and how fraudulent they are.....they are notorious for overcharging, holding furniture until you pay, stealing etc. don't bother. Sell it all, and buy new stuff. You will save so much in aggravation, stress, anxiety. Plus who doesn't like new furniture? Good luck!

Response from Isaac's Moving & Storage
Isaacs Moving and Storage is proud to have received our 2nd consecutive Angies List Super Service Award and are very proud of it. We received this award due to our outstanding service and are very proud of this achievement. You will not read any other stories that resemble this one as you read through our reviews. Now, we clearly had some issues during the course of this move with [Member name removed] but not to the extent that are written here and when I was notified that there were some problems with her move (damages, etc) I immediately contacted her to try and rectify the situation. [Member name removed] was receptive and I promised her that I would do everything in my power to rectify the situation and to make the experience with Isaacs a postive one. I was confident that we would work things out and find a resolution. I wish I could say that every move we do is perfect but that would not be true but what I am confident to say is that if there is an issue on one of our jobs, we take an enormous amount of pride in taking care of our customers. My intent was to do the same for [Member name removed] but this is not what happened and Angies List and other consumer sites were used as tools to try and extract money from the company from the company. I have never dealt with a customer like this and it is a shame that Angies List is being used as a platform for her. Thank you, Jon Dalzell General Manager Isaacs Moving and Storage

Overall, the company did a good job. Their rates were a little higher than another local company, but reasonable. The sales person gave us a 2 hour window for arrival, from noon to 2 PM. They arrived at 1:30. There were three movers. Everyone worked at a steady pace. They were courteous. Nothing was damaged.

Called Isaac's Moving and spoke with Laura at the Stoughton office. She took all the data and then told me she had to attend a meeting and would call with an estimate in about an hour - we never heard from Laura again. I tried two e-mail messages which weren't responded to either. I then called after work and after several updates telling me I was in their queue but my call would be taken shortly, I was transferred to voicemail and left yet another message that wasn't answered either. We've given up on Isaac's after all of this nonsense.

Isaac's moved us on the day of the 2013 blizzard! They showed up on time, at 7:30am, and quickly got to work. It was a last minute change-up that they showed up to our home before going to the public storage facility, so I was not 100% prepared when they arrived. They were flexible and suggested I continue sealing boxes and packing the remainder while they moved the things that were ready to go. I could hardly keep up! They were super fast and very professional. We had always moved ourselves from place to place, so this was the first time we hired movers to do the entire job for us. I will never move myself ever again -- they made this process so painless...I'm a believer now! They were also very considerate of the fact that my 2 year old was sometimes in their way. I'm sure it was annoying but they did not complain at all. While I was pretty satisfied overall, I did have a few complaints: - The crew did not wait for the foreman to finish laying down paper inside before they began moving stuff into the new place. They stepped all over the carpet and hardwood, both of which were just cleaned. I did not make an issue out of it since I wanted to help them work efficiently before the storm started in earnest. - They stacked the boxes in a really haphazard fashion even though they were all labeled pretty clearly. My husband had to stop them from stacking the boxes more than 2 deep to make sure we could still access our belongings. I wish that the movers either grouped the boxes or worked out a game plan with us to make sure the staging area was neat and organized, especially since I had spent so much time carefully labeling everything. Regardless, I think they did a good job, and I would have no hesitation hiring them again.

The whole experience with Isaac's was wonderful! When we emailed for an estimate, we quickly received a response and the estimator set up an appt. that was convenient with our schedules. We ran into some issues with our closing dates and everyone at Isaac's was very flexible in having to change dates/times. The day of the move, the moving crew came right on time and also called before they showed up to confirm we were ready for them. The crew was very careful with our belongings and moved us much more quickly than estimated. They made sure to update us multiple times a day about which rooms they finished, when they would be taking a break (they barely took more than 1/2 hour the whole day since they worked so hard!), and any things they would be doing to protect our items for shipping. We stored our items overnight and then had them delivered to our new house the next day. Most of the crew was the same and again they were perfectly on time, careful with our items, and kept us updated throughout the day. They did such a great job that we gave them a tip both days because - the movers made this the easiest part of our move experience! I would recommend Isaac's again without any hesitation.

After doing a lot of research, and soliciting and receiving several quotes, we decided on Isaac's based upon price and other reviews. Although they were the least expensive, their service was stellar. They worked with us to pinpoint exact days that worked for our tight schedule, during the most busy time of year for moving, and were prompt, thorough, efficient, extremely careful, and courteous. Working with Isaac's made moving easy. We did the packing, but there were a few items that needed special attention that they solved cheerfully, with professionalism and ingenuity. They packed carefully, and the same wonderful crew that packed us in Boston drove the truck, and unpacked in Maryland. Every item was placed where I needed it, and large items were reassembled as needed. I cannot recommend them highly enough, I am just sad that if we move again in the DC area, they are not here!

Soon after we requested a quote we received a call from Karen to obtain additional information regarding the move and to schedule time for someone (William) to come out and walk through the house to provide us with an accurate estimate. Both Karen and William were extremely pleasant and professional. The movers arrived 15 minutes early on the day we were moving out, and worked diligently without many breaks. The truck was stored overnight, as we couldn't move into our new place until the next day. The move into our new house was equally smooth. Isaac's hourly rates were higher than some of their competitors, but we chose them because they had good reviews and would use them again.

They responded very quickly via email and re-adjusted their quote through several emails as we identified more things that would have to be moved (such as end tables we hadn't thought of at first). They were thorough and clear and their quote was the next best offered to us. If we hadn't decided to go w/ a small, family-run mover, we would have chose Isaacs.

rHave nothing to say but great things about Isaac's. We downsized and moved items to storage, as well as to the new place and everything was on schedule, price even came in a little under. Sales rep, David Smith, was incredibly helpful, always returned calls & emails and was on top of our move at all times. The movers were professional and diligently worked the entire time they were at the house and storage unit. Great care was taken with all of our things and nothing was broken. FYI - we packed, they moved. We may have to rent a bigger storage unit, because we're discovering that some of our things in the new place aren't fitting, so we will gladly hire Isaac's again - to move us to yet a bigger unit.
Description of Work: Moved from a 2-family house to smaller condo unit and a storage unit. Used 2 trucks - truck#1 loaded all things going to new place and truck#2 loaded what was going to a storage unit. Also moved from one storage unit to another (larger) one within same warehouse.

We were very impressed with the move with Isaacs. They were dilligent, industrious, polite and professional. They handled all the furniture carefully and wrapped things very well. This was a fabulous experience from initial phone call to delivery. It simply couldn't have gone any better!Isaac's were recommended to me by people on the ground at our destination -- nice to know they have a stellar reputation internationally as well as over here! We were working with a very tight time frame and Albert came over and was incredibly helpful regarding some items that did not make sense to ship. The quote came in and was, in my opinion, very reasonable given the amount of stuff we needed to send and the difficulty getting to our destination (not near a port.)The moving crew were amazing and spent a great amount of time packing things well and items were very well placed in the shipping container. I was present for the 'unstuffing' (aka unpacking) of the container in Europe and their colleagues who received the shipment were also a bit in awe over how well it was packed. They said they had never seen a shipment arrive in such good shape. Nothing arrived broken or damaged, perhaps we were lucky but I suspect it was largely down to the diligence of the packing crew. Once the container left, Lisa was a fabulous and a real pleasure to deal with. She kept in good contact and answered our questions promptly. I was dreading this move and can honestly say that it was an exceptionally pleasant experience thanks to Issac's, Lisa and the packing crew.

William (the sales agent) was able to provide a quote at the time of the on-site visit (as opposed to sending one later), and he followed up with a phone call to see if we had any additional questions. Probably the follow up phone call was the reason that we went with Isaacs. The quote was under the actual cost by about $1000, but there were a lot of additional things that we added to the move after the quote was placed. We changed the plan and the move date a couple of times at the last minute because of some logistical issues, but William was able to move things around without difficulty. The whole move from start to finish took one week, which was well under the quoted time period. The movers in both Boston and Houston were professional, personable, and efficient. They even helped me move a huge bookshelf down the stairs that was already in the house when we got here. Thanks Isaacs!
Description of Work: We moved from Boston, MA to Houston, TX in January, 2012 from a one bedroom apartment and a separate storage space to a two story house.
