Sila Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical

Description of Work: We called Sila Heating & Air to arrange for a service check/tune up of our central air unit for our new condo. The first appointment was scheduled for June 21. When the day arrived, the temperature was ~95 degrees and we received a call from Sila in the morning saying that they would not be able to honor their appointment because they were swamped with emergency and service calls from regular customers. Annoying, but understandable, I suppose. We rescheduled for early July between 10am-12pm. When I scheduled the appointment, I mentioned that the previous appointment had been cancelled with relatively short notice and was told that they would make sure they make it on time and we would not be bumped/cancelled. At Noon on the day of the rescheduled appointment, I received a call saying that they were running late and would be there in 15 minutes. At 12:30, I cancelled the appointment because I had to go to work. Two missed appointments that seem to be pretty much their fault - very annoying. We will not be rescheduling with them and will use Angie's List to find another AC provider.

Description of Work: Had tune up of A/C system - sending a salesman to see about replacing old system.

Description of Work: Technician Bobby was knowledgeable, friendly but professional, thorough, and worked with dispatch. He checked out a problem I was having with a register, immediately identified the problem as a missing damper, and said that a new register should take care of the problem. He will order the replacement register, which saves me a trip to Home Depot to search for something that I know nothing about. I was so pleased, I am planning on working with Sila to get a service plan for both heating and AC tune-ups and maintenance. My experience with Sila was truly a Great Deal!

Description of Work: While not the cheapest option, you do get what you pay for...and more. We received quotes from 4 other companies before deciding to go with Sila. Nick from Sila was very helpful in helping us design the right HVAC system for our home. We bombarded him with question after question and he was honest and extremely helpful. We had no existing duct work so it was a big install - one system for each floor. The install took 5 days start to finish with two technicians who were pleasant and very clean. We are happy with the results so far as our home is nice and cool even on the humid, 100 degree days we just had last week!

Description of Work: A/C company called and cancelled due to other priorities. Left a message and said they would call back in a couple of days to reschedule. Therefore cannot rate fairly at this time.

Description of Work: Preventive maintenance on house A/C system. Also installed and electronic thermostat. Bobbi is an excellent service tech who knows his profession.

Description of Work: Furnace cleaned and flu checked. They arrived within the time specified and although I was not home, my son was. I was a bit unsure since I did not receive a confirmation call the day before, but when I called I was assured that they we were on the list. He said that they were very friendly and professional. They gave me good information about my system and recommended repairs. My only minor comment is that I would have liked to have an estimate of what the repairs might cost (Yes,I would use Sila).

Description of Work: When I call Sila I told them I had an a/c unit in the wall. They thought it was a central air a/c I felt bad that I hadn't explained myself correctly They did not charge me for the call. I would recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: The bathroom faucet had a drip. In the first visit, about 40 minutes, the plumber told me that he needed a part from the manufacturer for the faucet. I went on line and found the part and purchased it. He returned a few weeks later on schedule and fixed the drip, another 20 minutes. I paid for 2 full hours ($160) even though (a) SILA's total time was approximately one hour, (b) SILA claims to provide a special for the second hour and (b) I had to locate and pay for the part myself. OK, so maybe all that was legal and proper but it was hardly endearing. As is almost always the case with Angie's list these days (warning warning), the person you talk to when you call is not the person who does the work.

Description of Work: I used a $49 coupon provided through Angie's list to fix a leaky tub valve. The work was performed in under the hour the coupon provided for labor.

Description of Work: I had my old garbage disposal taken out and new one put in. Couldn't do it myself as the dishwasher feeds into the same pipe. Furthermore, the new disposal is larger than the old one, so some adjustments were required. The gentleman came well within the small time window he gave and was very efficient in in installing the disposal. His manner was also professional and courteous. He is highly recommended.

Description of Work: We bought the "Big Deal" - service call plus one hour labor - which was posted the day after we noticed a dripping pipe under bathroom sink. The drip quickly devolved into a major leak. When I called, Jim said that "the other Jim" could come out the very next day. Jim called to confirm his arrival time, quickly assessed then fixed the situation. We paid for some materials. He was neat, professional, on time, all you could ask for. If we need more work in the future we will definitely call Sila.

Description of Work: We had the gas furnace gone over, cleaned and serviced. The technician performing the work was prompt, courteous, and answered all questions. We were very satisfied with his work.

Description of Work: This was a "Big Deal" for AC unit winterization, for another home I own, but which is occupied by my parents. I therefore didn't have direct experience, but my parents reported that: - the contractor was superb - didn't rush through things - were very neat - wore those cloth booties before entering the house, which won major points with my mother - explained everything thoroughly so that my parents learned a bit about how to maintain the unit, etc. - showed up on time My parents are rarely this impressed and so I can only assume the performance and service was well above excellent.

Description of Work: They repaired my existing air conditioning unit, so that I did not have to purchase a new unit. The individual suggested the unit would have to be changed in the not to distant future, and let me know the best time to purchase a new unit would be in he fall.

Description of Work: (Please ignore previous report from me...meant for different business...carpenter.) Performed routine central AC maintenance. Recharged compressor due to reported previously poor performance and measurements the company took to confirm low pressure. Majority of cost ($200) was due to high cost of recharging gas.

Description of Work: We were very pleased with this Big Deal purchase. The technician was able to resolve the problem we had while he was here.

Description of Work: This company did an inspection and check-up on our A/C system. They were prompt in getting back to me to schedule an appointment and both courteous and friendly. Peter, who did the actual inspection, was great. He left a complete sheet of information as to what he had done and how he saw the system. (The company I had used for years went out of business, so the Angie's List coupon was very timely.) I am pleased with Sila Heating and Air and will definitely call them again for both inspection and maintenance.

Description of Work: The contractor was on time and prompt. He went over our furnace thoroughly and said the whole system was in good shape, but he lowered the boiler temperature by 30 degrees saying it was too high. He was very nice and we liked him.

Description of Work: The contractor fit us in much earlier than planned and we were very happy with that.

Description of Work: Checked and corrected problems with A/C on second floor. This system had been giving problems for months with water filling the drain pan repeatedly. They also put in the right thermostat as the thermostat put in by the previous technician (from a different company) was incompatible with the heat pump system that we have.
