Description of Work: Purchased an Angie's list walk for an oil burner tune up. Scheduling was fine and the tech arrived for the appointment on time. The tech seemed to have an opinion that everything was previously tuned incorrectly. The entire system being a year old, I showed him the manufacture supplied documentation for recommend nozzle sizes for the specific brand burner in use. He reluctantly agreed that he made a mistake. He made another statement that there's no way the building inspector signed off on the original work because the fuel supply line wasn't wrapped. I pointed to the plastic sleeve on the fuel line and asked him did he mean that wrap? He backed down. | |About 30 minutes after the tech left my water sensor alarm tripped as a pressure valve on the system blew due to the tech leaving the system in manual mode and set at a temp well above the safety valve. Now with a flooded basement it took over an hour for someone from Sila to return onsite. No help with cleaning up the water but the tech did replace the pressure relief valve. | |Fast forward 5 days, I awake to no heat and no hot water. Call Sila, takes them 4 hours to arrive. The system was not firing the burner because it was not tuned properly. The burner sensor was not detecting a stable flame and shutting off. | |At first I thought the tech was trying to hustle me into buying additional services by finding faults. But given the chain of mistakes made I think it was just inexperience or incompetence. I do not plan to use these guys again. | | |

We are also put a big investment in training our staff to avoid short cuts. The repairs they recommend are to provide you with long-term solutions instead of bandage solutions. Description of Work: I have a technician that was checking my AC and told me after few minutes that my compressor is broken and there is no way to have it fixed since this is an r22 system and they are not allowed to fix it anymore. He connected me to their office which send me a sales guy couple of hours later. |The only option according to them was to replace my whole system. The woman in the office that set the appointment with the sales guy has let me know that the cost of replacing the system is a minimum of $9000 and I had to acknowledge that before she has sent the sales guy over. | |Later that night I have decided to check the law about the r22 systems and found out that it is actually legal to fix my old system even with r22 refrigerant. |I called few other places and found out that replacement parts are a available and got the compressor replaced for fraction of the price. | |I felt that Sila were not honest with me and I can't recommend them. |I paid $89 basically for a sales speech.

Your condenser is from 1999 which makes the system 15 plus years old. We understand another company was able to provide you with a short term band-aid repair but that is not the proper solution for a system of your age. At Sila we provide our customers with long term solutions and provide warranties on all the work we perform which is not something we could have offered you due to the condition of your system. We hope you understand that the recommendations our technician made was to benefit you in the long term because putting money into repairing a system of your age and condition is not the appropriate or beneficial solution for the customer at all. We apologize if you felt any dishonesty from our end but we can assure you that is not the case because our goal is to keep the communication open at all times. Description of Work: When the service man arrived, he took a look at the air conditioning unit and told me that he didn't think he wanted to do the tune-up because of the condition/age of the unit. He told me that there would be no charge and that I could get a refund.
