This was the first time we have had maintenance on our system done since we installed it three years ago since we only use air conditioning a few weeks per year. He was very clear in explaining what he was doing and offered suggestions on how we could help with the upkeep of the system ourselves. It turned out that the installers had used an odd size for the filter so he came up with a new system for us to use a size easily found at stores such as Home Depot. We were extremely pleased with his professionalism and creativity in solving that problem. We highly recommend this company.

Called at noon, tech came and repaired the corroded wire causing the problem the same day.

I spoke with Brent on Monday, 6/29 and was able to get an appointment for 7/1 with no trouble (he even had openings before 7/1 if we needed). Brent also waived their diagnostic fee of $89 for the AC repair since we were having the heating maintenance done. Hank, the tech we worked with arrived well within the two hour time window we were given and Brent even called us to let us know that Hank was on his way over. Hank was very thorough in his work and explained each step to us. He worked on the AC water leak first and discovered a clog in the system which he cleared. He showed us where the clog was located so we could keep an eye out in case it happens again. He then did the routine maintenance of our heating system and walked us through the entire process. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. The total cost of service was $234, but we had a $30 off coupon for first time customers.

My air conditioning system stopped working on Monday evening. We called Unique on Wednesday at 8:30 am and git an appointment for that afternoon! We received a phone call about an hour later saying that they could have someone over at 10:30 if that would be OK. No problem, saved my wife a day sitting around waiting. The technician was very polite and professional. He found the problem and suggested we move the filter to a more convenient place to make it easier to access. He then cleaned the system and replaced some of the coolant. The entire service call was fast and efficient and the system is working perfectly. We have a service contract with Unique and will continue to do business with them in the future. They are an excellent company to deal with.

Very pleased with the service. The company responded right away to my call and set an appt quickly. Nick arrived on time. In fact, I was late but he waited for me and greeted me with a smile. He was professional, courteous, and well groomed. Explained his work in detail. When I asked about any discount for Angie's List members, he called in to the office to check - and I got the discount. The company also sent a follow up letter with a gift certificate towards future work.

We kept putting off doing the work, and so he kept offering us better and better prices. Out of the people we consulted, he is the only one who took into consideration the age of the house and certain peculiarities, and did not just want to go in. He was very knowledgeable and very good, and just incredible. We had one minor problem that came up later, and he was there instantly. They cleaned up beautifully too.

The front desk manager, lead estimator and project workers were all knowledgeable, responsive, kind, and professional. The estimate was truthful in that Nick advised us of contingencies that might change it and the minimum fee should the project not be feasible. The workers got going on the job immediately upon arrival. Their expertise and experience were obvious. Nick called them early on to confer on how the work would be approached and later stopped by to check the progress. We couldn't be happier with the company. Except for the interior roof of a little-used cupboard the kitchen was absolutely undisturbed. It was also quick -- an hour or so. Great job, guys.

Steve arrived promptly as scheduled and proposed a decent plan for how to run the high velocity duct work. Because the home needed to be retrofit with the ducts, air handlers, returns, etc., we were as interested in the creative proposal as to HOW we were going to get this accomplished in the least invasive way. Steve spent a good hour explaining the system, the installation plan and answered all of my questions. He was profesional and knowledgeable. Due to budget limitations, we did select an alternate contractor who's bid came in lower. I would, however, call on Unique in the future if we needed bids/proposals for additional projects.

Excellent. They sent two people to the house to evaluate and estimate the work we needed done to combine the two control panels we had for the heating and a/c. The work was done quickly, neatly and they came in under the estimate.

The tech immediately put covers on his shoes, was really nice and informative, and seemed to understand things. He pointed out a few things to think about doing that might help, but also really clear about what was overkill or something not worth spending on.

When my gas furnace started making a terrible noise at 8:00 AM before I left for work on one of the coldest days in December, I called the company. I had used them before to do regular maintenance on my heating system. They told me that they could have someone at my house by 11:00AM. Then they called me back to say that a technician could be at my house about an hour earlier. The technician arrived, covered his shoes and went to the basement to check the furnace. In about 15 minutes he had diagnosed the problem. He told me that the fan needed to be replaced and how much it would cost. I agreed to the price and he called the company to arrange for the part to be delivered to the house. He then deinstalled the defective fan. The new fan arrived about 20 minutes after being ordered and was in place in another 20 minutes. I had heat again by 11:15 AM.

I got several estimates for the job but they were the only one s that do the older brownstone type, so I hired them. They did an excellent job, it works well. It must have taken about couple of days to do it. They weren t the cheapest but I think they were the best.

Overall, the process went very smooth. The company was willing to schedule a meeting time after work hours. Dan showed up to that meeting ahead of time. We spent about an hour in my basement discussing what I was looking to do, going over his suggestions, taking measurements, etc. It was a real pleasure chatting with him about his ideas.

It was easy to schedule an appointment. The technician showed up at the right time, did his work professionally, and gave us a thorough report. He cited an issue from our home's renovation that should be addressed at some point. I was quite satisfied and signed up for a service contract. I gave them a "B" on price as the cost for the rooftop unit seemed high (though I have found that at least one HVAC firms will only deal with rooftops with commercial crews/prices).

They were extremely responsive and were able to come out the same day. The guy who showed up was very conscientious and wore plastic booties over his shoes to not track salt in from outside. Minor ding in that he didn't show up during the scheduled time and when I called to find out where he was and they said he had been held up at a previous job. Would have preferred they had called me to let me know he'd be late. He figured out the problem pretty quickly and resolved it just as quickly. It turned out that there is a valve down at the system that had been tightened to the point that no air was able to escape. He just had to loosen that valve and the air came rushing out and all was fixed. Overall, the repairman was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. This company charges $89 to come out and diagnose the problem. Then they add to that whatever the cost of the repair is. My bill was $220 in total. He was there about an hour. Seemed a bit expensive for what the repair ended up being, but I have to give these guys credit for figuring it out quickly and being able to come out the same day I called them. I would use them again.

Initially it went well: the men were pleasant and the interior work neat. They worked from the top floor down; however, when they reached the basement, the workmen sawed into the asbestos covering of parts of our heating system to install their pipes (see photo 1). This resulted in an Air Quality Asbestos Notice of Noncompliance (4 violations) from the MA Dept. of Environmental Protection, as well as our exposure to the asbestos particles throughout our basement and garage (photo 3). We had to pay another company $20,157 for the HEPA vacuum cleanup and decontamination. All items that could not be washed had to be discarded (including an antique chair), photo 2. Our personal losses, including water damage to a treadmill, were approx. $7,350. There was also considerable time lost from work for my son (whose workbench was in the basement) and for me. There are more details than I can recount here, but I have all paperwork, photos and correspondence from this disastrous experience.

These folks are a pleasure to work with. We've had them do the yearly maintenance on the heating and A/C systems since we bought the house in September 2007. They've been very consistent in their dealing with us: responsive scheduling, punctuality, tight communication (how many contractors call from the main office to let you know the crew is running late?), competent execution, friendly service and "generous" follow-through. When we were having concerns about the work, they showed up promptly and did some further repairs at no charge.

I decided not to move forward with the project at this time as I would like to take advantage of potential cost savings by replacing all three systems at the same time.

Overall pleasant experience. Brent and Nick were easy to reach and provided good info. Nick came over to estimate the job. The technicians arrived on time, were professional and stayed on site until the work was completed. The duration and cost of the work were as quoted. They made efforts to minimize the impact on the house, and to clean up. They also helped figure out some quirks in the duct work left by the previous owners. I added some work for a new heat duct so one tech had to come back for an extra day. He was flexible working around an electrician who was on site at the same time. Everything is working well.

Very smoothly from start to finish. Nick, our original salesperson and estimator did a great job explaining the options of various heating/cooling systems, and the various equipment options. He was punctual, professional, and flexible during the sales and contract portion of the job. The contract was very detailed to enable comparisons with other vendors, their pricing was competitive, and even slightly lower in some aspects. Nick also oversaw the project once we started. The team from Unique came puctually as scheduled and basically knocked out the job in 2 weeks flat, exactly as estimated. The installation went seamlessly. They were responsive, friendly, and helpful in terms of working with us to find the best solutions for venting; piping, and ducting...and respectful of the house. Afterwards, they were flexible in the timing of starting up and testing the system as well as moving some of the high-velocity vents (due to us deciding on some changes during the course of other home renovation projects we were working on). All in all, VERY positive experience and a highly recommended vendor.

The person answering the phone was professional, asked the right questions and had someone come out that day. The serviceman was polite, professional and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem which was worse than I wanted to hear. However, when I want to have the A/C repaired, this is the company I would use. I also got an Angie's list discount.

They were able to set up an appointment soon and they showed up and were very knowledgeable and friendly. We had gotten them to come because our oil furnace service person had said that the furnace was corroded and in his opinion, could stop working at any time. Nick came and looked at the system and said that in his opinion, there was no need to replace the furnace. This was definitely useful information for us. He gave us an estimate for system replacement. We had also asked for an estimate for oil to gas conversion, and we discussed these options. The price they quoted for oil to gas conversion was higher than another company, so we ended up going with the other company.

We liked them very much. Everything was great. They were prompt they followed through with what they said they would. The gentleman who came was quick worked well and hard and they fixed the problem. He was also very informative.

It went absolutely terrific. Did a great job. They were very reasonable, compared to others and had a lot of references. They were in my house and I had a broken arm, and they actually gave me a ride to the Vet for my dog who was sick! Way above and beyond!
