one was a time sensitive job because the plumbing job needed to be done before another contractor could do his work. guy didn't show up as scheduled, then said he was going to check on supplies and call me back soon.... 2 hours later i called office...now this is going to be an all-day job (i was told it was 1-2 hours) finally, late that afternoon, they called and promised to have 2 men here 8-9 next morning. same 1 guy showed up the next morning and doesn't aim for time sensitive job...when i asked him and he got off the phone he said that i was going to need more work done first and a permit... i told him to leave and hired another plumber. 1.) if i was told up front about their timing i could have the job done by someone available. 2.) i was NOT impressed with this 1 particular guy. if i knew that he was coming alone the next day, i would have cancelled. 3.) i was promised 2 guys, if 2 had indeed showed up i might have had a personable and efficient encounter.

Phil Durfee quoted this job along with four other contractors for the project under the HEAT loan program. His bid and the recommendation for the air filter was not the lowest but close. Several of the other bidders were also recommending a humidifier but Phil said that with our fiberglass air ducts, that would be a problem. I did some research and found that he was correct. I felt that his knowledge and professionalism warranted the slight price increase and signed up with him. He set a date for six days after we signed the contract and showed up on time. He said it was a one day job to dismantle the old furnace and install the new one. He was complete by app 3:30 but the control board malfunctioned and he had to get another one. He came back the next morning and installed the new board and everything has been fine since. As part of the terms for our 0% interest loan, RISE Engineering has to inspect the work and they came by today. They felt the everything was done first rate and they were impressed with the emission setup. All in all Phil Durfee did a great job in a timely manner at a fair price and we will certainly use him next year when we put a gas log in our fireplace and create an outside shower.

Called on Saturday about leak. Representative was great, asked me to text pic of area, which I did, and he told me what to shut off and do so that there would not be more expensive weekend call. Called to verify who would come and when so I knew that they were authentic. Very friendly, and informative. Only one problem, about 2 hours after they left I went in basement and was leaking. When called they came back. Said that reason was the thermostat was turned up so high on water heater it would cause boiling and so overflow pipe was doing its job of releasing water. They turned it down (they were the ones that turned it way up past what it was on originally) and said that there would "probably another service call" for over $100 (whatever minimum billing for hour was). They looks a little sheepish when they said it, so I said I would call office. I called a few days later and man I spoke to said he would look into it and seemed to agree I shouldn't be charged anymore. I said, after all, I called for the leak, the leak wasn't fixed, and although the original problem was fixed, the secondary problem was the fact they turned it up too high. When I originally said this to reps who came to house they said, actually we would have had to wait to see if it leaked and that would have been another hour charge. But man on phone said he would check it. So far I have not received another bill. I liked 80% of what they did, and it actually was professional, friendly, and what a good Angie's list company should do, but I would advise keeping an eye on what's going on, to me an extra $100 charge or not is a big deal when hiring contractor in any field.

Called Durfee Plumbing...they promptly called me back and setup a date/time to put in a new water heater. No drama...

The young woman who took my call and the two men who arrived were knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and courteous. Very good value for service provided and would use again.

The workers were punctual and phoned prior to arriving to my home. They were extremely professional and meticulous in their work as they cleaned my boiler. I would definitely use Dufree for any other heating or plumbing needs.

I contact Joy, the receptionist, an appointment was made, the technician arrived, conducted the repair, remained for 20 minutes to make sure everything was working properly and offered much information on the operation of gas hot water tanks.

Fantastic, very efficient and fast! My experience with Durfee was the complete opposite of the last horrible experience I had when I mistakenly hired a different heating and plumbing service to do what Durfee actually took the time to do and do very well. You can read my other review about that.

two gentlemen arrived on time. work was completed within the hour. very clean well dressed, shirts with comp. logo. owner is 92 years young. very satisfied with their work. also very quiet. owner naps in a.m.. can't say enough. very pleased!!

The Durfee technicians arrived on schedule, were courteous, efficient, and knowlegeable. All questions that I asked about the various parts and functions of the system were explained to my satisfaction. I would definitely consider using Durfee Plumbing/heating in the future.

We got and initial estimate on line, then called to schedule the work. They offered to come that same day, and performed the work quickly and efficiently.

I had them check new tub fixure for leaks. They verified the facuet was working fine and a replacement was not needed. Durfee arrived when they said they would and even called to let me kow they were ther way. I would definitely use again!

My tenant's stove needed to be replaced. So I ordered a new stove which arrived quickly. When we went to remove the old stove we found that it was hard-piped. This required that I get a plumber to shut off the gas and replace the piping with a flexible hose for future change outs. Not knowing who to call, (having had other companies in the past that I wasn't happy with), I turned to Angies' List. Luckily there was a highly recommended Plumber locally. OK, I'll try it... and very happy I did. My call was answered the first try, I was given an estimate and a window of 2 hrs the next day, I was called that morning and a time was solidified. He arrived on time and was done with the job quickly and effeceintly. VERY HAPPY! I definitely will use Philip Durfee again!

The overall experience was great- the workers showed up on time and were very careful bringing in the new water tank and taking the old one away. I had spoken to the owner over the phone previously and new exactly what to expect. He did an excellent job of explaining the process and the costs associated with installing a new hot water heater. I will definitely use them in the future!

We experienced a nightmare situation on an installation of a new dishwasher from Sears in Hyannis The installation group from Sears missed 3 promised installation dates, each of course with a 4 hour window. Not only didn't they show up but they never called to explain or to reschedule. I had to call them on each occasion to reschedule. After the final missed appointment I notified Sears installation that I had no interest in them rescheduling. It was recommended to me that I try Durfee Plumbing. As it turns out Durfee had been the local installation group for the Cape Cod area prior to Sears negotiating a statewide contract with the company that couldn't seem to get its act together on our installation. I called Durfee on Wednesday and made an appointment for Friday morning. They showed up on time and completed the job to our complete satisfaction. They left the work site clean and hauled the old unit away . Definitely would recommend them as installers and intend to use them for any future plumbing requirements.
