When the specialist arrived at my home he was professional, polite, and answered my many questions. He was excellent and did a great job. I would absolutely use Durfee again and will highly recommend to family, friends, and coworkers.

+ 1 moreI have used Durfee Plumbing a few times in the past - i.e. installing new waster hater, fixing furnace and most recently fixing gas fireplace. Each time they have showed up on time, been neat and tidy, professional and most importantly fixed the problem. One time the owner was off Cape Cod (I believe on vacation) and dropped by on his way home, bringing along the suspected part which he had purchased on the way. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

+ 0 moreBoth gas furnace and air conditioner in my house was not working. I called Durfee and described the problem. Company rep scheduled an appointment and informed me that the charge is $120 for an hour of work. After technicians arrived, within the first 10 min identified the problem with the electrical power. They said they are not licensed to do the job. After an hour they left leaving everything as it was before in a non working condition but charged credit card $150. The rep insists it is a company billing policy. I do not understand how they can charge the customer when no work was done. True, they identified the problem, but they spent 10 min doing that. Yet the charge was for an hour and 15 min.

+ -1 moreI contacted Durfee because their reviews on Angie's List were very good. Their web site also says "Call Us Today For a FREE Estimate". So, I contacted them because I had two tasks in need of work (addressing condensation on inside pipes and installing an outside facet). I was thus surprised when they called and said that coming by to give me an estimate was a "service job" and the minimum charge would be $125. As such, the assertion about a "free estimate" on their web site would appear to be misleading. I did not proceed and would not do business with them in light of their misleading claim.

+ -1 moreThanks to all of you that help me to resolve my billing issue. Joy at Durfee Plumbing was great to work with. Thanks to Phil, the owner, for following through. My issue was really around the additional payment request, because for a second visit. As I said in my original review - their work has always been good and very professional. I am happy they were able to understand my concerns. Having owned a home on the cape for 35 years it wasn't easy finding a good plumber. Durfee is a good plumbing company and I will use them again.

They took extra precautions to make sure our white carpeting was covered as they took out the old water heater and installed the new one. I would highly recommend Durfee Plumbing and Heating.

He also pointed out that my air blower has a slight mis- alignment (which I knew) and suggested that I have it removed and rebuilt next year. He also provided me with a quote for a new 40 gal. hot water heater which will replace my "1991" 40 gal. system. He was on time and very professional. I would like to mention that I needed to cancell my first apointment due to a conflict and the office manager "Joy" was very helpful trying to reschedule the apointment against my busy schedule. Thank you! I was looking for a company that can provide me with an all year round service and I feel I found one. I would definitly recommend this company. Dom

+ 0 moreAfter 2 weeks and 3 phone calls told me the special heating system tune up Deal I purchased did not cover oil systems. It did not state that on the deal. When I asked for a refund they offered to clean and tune up my oil system for $125 an hour, and said they didn't know how to refund my money. I contacted Angies list and got my money back.

+ -1 moreWhen I initially called, if I had been told that Mr. Durfee was busy on another job that would have been fine. I could have made other arrangements. As it was, I wasted over four hours waiting for a call back for my " emergency service" and had to instead shut off my water and leave the house. Completely unresponsive. Update - the "office" called me at 10:00 on Monday, 26 hours after my initial call. I told them to forget it. I needed them on Sunday.
Description of Work: Called at 7:45 am for emergency service for a pipe leaking in my basement. The answering service said I would receive a call back within one hour. I called again at 9:45, two hours after my initial call, and explained that I had not yet been contacted, that I was leaving town at noon, so I needed to hear back from someone as soon as possible. The rep said that she would resend the request to Mr. Durfee. She again told me that I would receive a call back within one hour. At 11:00 I called again and spoke with a different answering service representative. She explained that Mr. Durfee works alone so they aren't supposed to tell customers that they will get a call back within any specific time frame. She said she would submit a third request and told me that I should call back if I didn't receive a response within an "appropriate" amount of time. She refused to define what that meant, and said that he was probably busy on another job. It's now 7:30 pm and still no call.

Suggested that I have an energy survey and discussed the Mass Save loan program. Discussed advantages of installing a combination heat and air conditioning system. Arranged for Phil to clean furnace next month on a rental property. Excellent service and will definitely use Phil again for services

+ -1 moreThe job was done timely and as expected. My initial call was due finding water on the floor of the basement, which was tracked back to the broken valve and housing. The lack of heat in the master bedroom was attributable to the broken thermostat, and surfaced only after the zone valve was fixed. Once all of the components were repaired/replaced, the system ran (and continues) to run just fine.
