Soil, Water & Air Technologies provides solutions to customers in need of vapor intrusion services. We custom design sub slab depressurization systems to effectively mitigate radon gas, TCE, petroleum vapors, and various other VOC's. Most real estate transactions, financing and/or re-financing activities require an environmental review which includes air quality testing. Our experienced office staff understands the need for quick, complete, and accurate information in order to provide solutions so transactions are not put at risk. We offer detailed upfront pricing, best in class warranties, and proudly offer discounts to senior citizens, service members and repeat customers.
"Be careful. I called to have a radon mitigation system installed and the sales rep on the phone took down the information and scheduled the appointment. I was upfront about an interior drain being installed. When the technician arrived, he said he'd be happy to install the system, but that it would be worthless because of the interior drainage system. I then received a $200 invoice for the site visit. Frustrating scenario to have a sales rep schedule the appointment, knowing full-well that I had an interior drain, and then the technician tell me there's no point to install a mitigation system, but then charge me for the inconvenience of it all."

Tiger Group, Inc. is a Connecticut family owned business providing Inspection Services since 1992. We are licensed and insured. Our 22 highly trained and specialized inspectors provide thorough Residential and Commercial Inspections throughout CT, Western MA, and Westchester, NY. Additionally, we provide Radon and Well Water Testing, and Mold Assessments. We inspect 7 days/week. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
"This review is from a seller where an inspection was performed. The heat was not shut off after the inspection and my family and I walked into 90 degree temperatures because the heat was never turned off when the inspection was complete and it was on for 7 hours until we got home. In addition the mud room has a thermostat and electric heater and that was also left on high which we did not realize until the next day. In addition, to prove a point to a potential buyer he forced a hole through the wood in our detached garage reporting that there are signs of water damage. The garage is from 1930, there has been water in the garage especially when we had the hurricane last year but they could have just written that in the report not damage our property to prove a point. Coincidentally, the same inspector came back with another interested buyer and yet another piece of wood was pulled off from the garage. If that is not bad enough, the same inspector gave confidential information from a previous inspection to a new potential buyer which led to another buyer terminating the deal. I know this as our lawyer communicated with the potential buyers attorney and said that the inspector passed on information about a previous inspection he did at our house a week earlier.. in addition, our neighbor and friends were outside during the outside portion of the inspection and they heard the inspector give the potential buyers and their real estate broker information about the last inspection and what the other potential buyers said. So much for confidentiality."

"Whether buying or selling, you deserve professional expertise. We take pride in our work and offer you prompt and courteous service." -Michael McDowell, President
"Just had Michael inspect a property that we are about to close on. I've been present at many inspections and Michael is the finest inspector I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He is personable and will share valuable information with you and also encourages you to ask as many questions as you want. No question is to silly to ask. I highly recommend Building Inspector of America. Make sure you get this one because many have very similar names. As for the other review from a previous person, I am totally befuddled how they could have graded Michael that way."

You can buy DIY radon test kits from a home improvement store and conduct radon testing, but these tests are often inaccurate. No matter the result, you should supplement DIY testing with professional radon detection and analysis. DIYers only have access to passive radon tests, which aren’t as reliable as active tests that professionals use. Plus, it’s very easy for DIYers to make mistakes during testing, leading to inaccurate results. If you’re moving into a new home, have concerns about radon, or are due for an updated test, hire a professional.
Radon testing costs depend on whether you hire a professional radon inspector or DIY test. You can expect to pay $150 to $800 to hire a local radon inspector, and home-testing kits range in price from $15 to $250 from home improvement stores. However, it’s best to trust a professional inspector with this task to ensure accurate results. Plus, if you have radon in your home, your testing company can develop a mitigation protocol to keep you and your family safe from the dangerous gas, so it’s well worth the money to hire a professional.
If radon is present in your home, you can expect to pay around $1,000 for a radon mitigation system or between $780 and $1,250 in most cases. The exact price will depend on the severity of the radon leak, home size, and the protocol the radon specialist develops to remove radon from your home and keep it out. Your foundation type will also affect your radon mitigation system cost, as unfinished basements will cost about $4,600 to seal and ventilate, while crawl spaces without a foundation slab may need extra encapsulation, costing $1,500 to $15,000.
Yes, radon testing is absolutely necessary if you suspect the presence of this hazardous gas, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends testing for all homes in the country. Radon is a pervasive natural gas that can leak through your home’s foundation and seep into the living areas. Unfortunately, the gas is highly carcinogenic and is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Radon testing is crucial for keeping you and your family safe from harm, so hire a radon mitigation specialist to test your home if you suspect its presence in your home.
In most states, radon testing companies don’t need to be licensed or certified by the state, but the companies that analyze the test results and develop radon mitigation protocols do. You should choose a radon testing company that suits your needs, but before hiring a mitigation specialist, check our state licensing tool to make sure the company is properly certified.
