He called me back that afternoon to set up an appointment. Fortunately I was working from home that day and he came over and completed the install. Brought a programmable thermostat too. So the price included the call and the equipement. Set it up for me and took me through the steps to change the program. Very nice, prompt, and fast. I would and will use JDO again.

The electrical work was done on time and well done. I felt confident in suggestions given to make my house more safe from electrical fires. I have an old house that needed some electrical updating as well as replacement of shoddy work done by a previous electrician. And yes, I had to pay twice for the same work --but it is wiser to be safe than sorry. Apparantly, the prior electrician did such shoddy work that my house was at risk. I highly recommend this electrician. He is not cheap but his prices are reasonable -- and he is a professional whose work you can depend on. His assistant is also a pleasure to have working at your house.

It all went very well. I used an Angie's List coupon to pay for the studio fan/ight installation. Jim is very professionsl and did a nice job. I appreciated that he took the trouble to show me how to replace the bulb and clean the glass part of the bathroom fxiture. Since I didn't get any other quotes for the work I don't know how his rates compare with other electricians. The bathroom light/fan installation was tricky so the cost for the installation ($350) was on the high side. I was also hoping that the door bell installation would give me a louder door bell because I have a hearing impairment, but it didn't. (However I was able to find a relatively inexpensive Honneywell wireless chime that I could install myself.) Note that I had already bought the fixtures and these are installation charges. Jim came back the following year to replace my kitchen fixtures and did a nice job with those, too. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

We contacted Jim to have some miscellaeous electrical work done. When we contacted him, we had 2 severe storms and all electricians were extremely busy trying to get power restored to many areas. He was up up front and said he was busy and he would not be available until December and he would call when he had some time. I understood this since the work we wanted done was not urgent and this is what I had heard from many electricians I contacted. I did not think he would call back. He did call back within a week and said he could come out and give us an estimate, again he would not be able to do the work until later. He came out, and had the estimate back to us in a couple of days. We scheduled the work to be done in December, but within a week he had an opening and contacted us to see if we wanted to do it early. He completed all the work in a timely manner, kept a clean work area and the work was wonderful. His prices were also reasonable. I would recommend his services to anyone.

We had used JDO a few years prior to the most recent one & found him to provide good quality service; he is reasonable priced & very reliable. The most recent job required a fairly quick response in order to complete the work before a planned holiday event that year. We have always been very pleased with Jim's work & would use him again with no hesitation.

The man remodeled my basement said he needed an electrician quickly because a high power line had shorted out and was spitting fire in the basement. I found jim at JDO Electric on Angie's list, called him, and he came that day. He was very competent, careful, and explained what he was doing when I wanted to know. He was friendly and professional and cleaned up after himself. I have hired him again since then and have had the same good experience.

Our condo's parking lot light, which is about 40 feet off the ground on a house side, ceased to function. A handyman who changed the bulb did not fix the problem. I called JDO in late morning, and by late afternoon he had replaced the dead light fixture with a high end LED fixture that should last 15+ years without a bulb change. He also attached a photovoltaic switch. He came back the next night to check his work. This was really an excellent experience. Highly recommended.

For a couple of years, we had a problem with the main breaker in our circuit panel box tripping, usually when some high-load appliance was used at the same time as our dryer. We thought we needed to upgrade from 100 amp service to 200 amp service, which would have been very expensive, given that our electrical service runs underground. Jim checked our electrical use and set-up, and made several suggestions, including the suggestion that we replace our entire circuit breaker panel (which was old and showed signs of deterioration) to a panel rated for 200 amp, but wired for 100 amp. He noted that we really weren't using enough electricity to come close to the 100 amp limit and suggested that, if the appliances were balanced properly on the two trunks, we might find that we would not trip a 100 amp breaker. Since this upgrade would be necessary even if we went up to 200 amp service to our house, we followed Jim's suggestion and just replaced the box and breakers. It has worked like a charm, and saved us several thousand dollars! Jim was prompt, professional, thorough and knowledgable throughout the process. I highly recommend him, and we will certainly call him for our future electrical needs.

The whole process was very smooth and Jim was responsive throughout. He returned my call within a few hours, came by a day or two later to provide and estimate, and came back 3 days later to do the work. He kept us updated on the scheduling, arrived on time, did good work, and left everything clean. We would definitely use JDO Electric again.

Jim did a great job by explaining the problem and giving us a few options. No pressure ... just facts and experience. He set a date for the work (3 days after the initial visit), showed up early and did the complete job in less than 8 hours. He used drop cloths and kept our house very clean. Great work all around and extremely professional.

The project went very well. Their response was very timely, they gave me the option of just fixing the one smoke detector or doing all of them in an effort to avoid this problem happening in the future, as well as bring them up to current code. My only complaint was that they left a bunch of plastic caps lying around, which normally would not be a big deal, but with little kids it's been annoying. They were also great and fixed an outlet in our place that kept tripping the circuit, even though this was not mentioned on the initial service call. I would highly recommend JDO to others.

An inspection found an outlet near a sink did not have the required GFCI type. Called JDO and they sent someone out the next morning. The electrician was prompt and courteous and gave me a quick lesson in how a GFCI outlet actually works. I would call on JDO again.

In preparation of selling our home, a kitchen ceiling light that was not always working needed to be fixed. I contacted JDO after finding them on Angie's List. I described to Jimmy what the light looked like and that it would go on but didn't always stay on and that the bulb had been replaced with the same issue. He suggested that the fixture be replaced with a regular light bulb. We had already spoken to a friend who is an electrician and lives out of state and he had suggested the same thing. We were on a tight schedule getting ready for an open house and JDO was able to do the work on a Saturday for us. We are very pleased with the new light and would definitely use JDO again.

Overall, we were impressed by the responsiveness and how professional the service was. It identified and fixed our current need but we felt grateful for having future, pending problems identified and having the choice to fix them right then and there. We were very pleased with the service.

Our low-end smoke detectors kept going off at random times. I called Jim to take a look. He returned my call the same day and came out the next day, Saturday, to evaluate the situation. All the detectors had to be replaced. They were 5 years old and we had done a lot of construction over the years, creating a lot of dust which clogged up the detectors. We decided to go with higher-end detectors with a longer life (10 yrs as opposed to the 5 yrs). Jim and his worker returned that week (either Tue or Wed) to replace everything. He was a little late as he ran into some traffic but he promptly called to let us know. When they arrived they went right to work and replaced about 15 detectors in approximately 6 hours. They were professional and efficient. We will definitely use them again for any electrical needs that may arise.

We found JDO on Angie's list, called and Jim from JDO answered and quickly setup an estimate. Jim showed up on time, was very professional and helpful. He was the lowest estimate we got for the work and was able to schedule the work around our time. He showed up when he said he was going to and performed the work exactly as described within the time frame he had committed to. We ran into one small delay that was outside if his control (Dig Safe not showing up on time) but Jim promptly communicated the issue to me and was able to workaround the issues and get the project done without costing me any more money or any extra hassle. Jim was in constant contact to arrange and ensure smooth sailing during the inspection after the work was done. Overall, it was as good an experience as possible and we would not hesitate to use JDO for our next electrical project.

Twice we lost all of our electricity in our home and we reset it at the main. After the second time we called three electricians for estimates. All three gentlemen, including Jim, came promptly and they all had the same bad news. We had water in our electrical box and we needed a new box plus and upgrade to 200 amp service. So I went from thinking $200 to 10 times that amount. Jim and another electrician were basically at the same price and since Jim came first and I liked him, we hired him. When he had first come, I felt he was very through and explained everything that needed to be done and how long he would need to complete the work (2 days) Once we agreed upon a date, Jim and his associate came in a timely manner and were pleasant, professional and courteous. Other than being without electric for the first day, there was no downside. I would definitely hire JDO again and would highly recommend him to family and friends.

I contacted JDO Electric first thing in the morning (7 am). He said he was busy but was able to come out right away. He said the first hour would be the emergency rate of 195/hour. I said fine. He arrived a couple hours later. Found the source of the problem and fixed it. He was amicable and quickly fixed my issue. I plan on hiring him again to come and do a Knob and Tube estimate, which involves opening every electrical outlet to check the wiring.

I was very pleased with the prompt and excellent professional service provided by Jim of JDO Electric. On the date of the repair, he called to confirm his arrival time, then arrived on time. His work was efficient and neat, and I greatly appreciated his willingness to answer all of my questions about the new smoke detectors, battery replacements, etc. The next week I had a question about my new outdoor outlet and when I contacted Jim, he was quick to respond with a detailed answer that solved my problem.

The work was done in a very professional manor.He pointed out all code violations and they were all corrected.
