They moved some nobs and tubing and installed new electrical wiring. The quality of work and service was good. He was right on time. He told me it would take a day and it did. The price was reasonable. He was very professional. I would definitely use this company again.

He fit me in the very next morning after I called. He was extremely efficient and personable. He did a great job with the repair -- he installed a new outlet in a way that was much sturdier than the old installation.

Jim was the first company I called of 2 and he was very responsive from the first time I spoke coming out within a few days of the call. He recommended that we change the smoke detectors as he has had bad experiences with the ones I had and also would change the CO at the same time. I also had an issue with a plug in my master bathroom. Jim provided a quote the next day and continued to follow up with me regularly. I was waiting to get a second quote before choosing a company to do that job. The second quote came in almost the same as Jim's and both companies were highly rated on Angie's. I went with Jim because of his follow up and he just seemed more professional. He and his partner were clean, picking up the mess they made. He took the time as well to review what he did and showed me something else he found along the way. This was not a complex job, but I would recommend Jim to anyone.

Jimmy called right back, came as quickly as he could, gave an estimate and came back to complete the work as efficiently as possible. It was a pretty large job and he got it done with maximum speed and efficiency. He is extremely competent and professional and knows what he is doing.

They were on time, careful, courteous. The ceiling light was heavy and expensive and they treated it with great care; they discovered they had to fix the framework which had been poorly installed for the old light, did this without complaining, cheerfully.

Excellent from start to finish. Jim came to evaluate what we needed on a Saturday. Not only did he listen and understand the job he had great suggestions and was very prompt following up with a quote. Jim took the time to explain things which I found very helpful and he always turned up/called when he said he would. He and his partner, Chico, worked well together. We have a small place and they had to work around our hectic family routine. My son was keen to watch what was going on which didn't phase Jim at all. All the work was done efficiently and they made sure everything was cleaned up at the end of each day. Even though there was some tricky snaking to get a new circuit to our under-counter lighting, there was only one patch in the wall which they fixed extremely well. Very happy with the results and, after seeing the amount of work done, I feel the cost was very reasonable. Professional, polite, respectful and really tidy. We'd definitely go back to JDO Electrical for further work.

They came on time, did the installation expeditiously, cleaned up thoroughly afterwards, and took the time to explain to me how the breakers work. Then, in checking the power entry outside the house, discovered, first, that the outside NStar powerline was dragging on the roof -- a hazard. He called NStar, described the problem, and insisted that they come soon. Then, on closer inspection, found that the reason for the sagging line was that the neutral connection at the pole had broken, creating an immediate danger in the house. He called NStar again, raising the issue to an emergency, insisted that I disconnect all electronic devices, and, through his concern and intervention, probably saved me from potential damage to my electronics or, even, from fire. Outstanding, courteous, thoughtful service. I recommend JDO highly.

He was wonderful. He was very informative and showed up when he said he would. He did the work in an orderly fashion and I would definitely use him again for electrical work.

Jim was quite professional and responsive. He was proactive in letting us know what would be entailed in the work he would be doing -- for instance, he wanted to make sure we knew that we would not have power at the house for 24 to 48 hours and was flexible in scheduling the work at a time when that was convenient for us. He timely completed the work, labeled the fuses in the new fuse box, made the wiring look good and cleaned up when he was finished. We plan to have central air conditioning installed and will use JDO Electric again for that process.

Not sure but thought a little expensive but the quality of the work and the professionalism of Jim was superb, he even helped me by carrying a skid down the cellar for me. This was much appreciated -- a gentleman.Thank you for the referral. I would not hesitate to call him agin.Carole Lee

Very solid all around and Im happy with the end result. They made sure all the electrical in the apartment was safe and in good working order. Explained what they were doing while they were fixing things. Very happy with the punctuality and his understanding of my time constraints. They went above and beyond to make sure that my job was done on time and cleaned up after themselves. I recommend them.

This service call made my day!! Jim responded promptly to my call to estimate the cost of the repairs. He patiently answered all my questions and I thought the price (including 50 dollar discount) was very reasonable. On the service day - he and his assistant (Chico) arrived promptly and worked steadily for four hours until everything was finished. They were professional and cleaned up after themselves ? although they really didn?t make that much of a mess. Everything works and looks great!! Both Jim and Chico were courteous and friendly. I will certainly call him again if the need arises and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone seeking excellent service. This was my first time using Angie?s List and I could not be more pleased with this experience.

i have found Jim to be very responsive in terms of answering the initial call, coming out promptly to do the work. Everything has been done perfectly and with no problems afterward. I would highly recommend JDO for any electrical work.

I had scheduled a fire department inspection (as required when selling a house in MA) and then discovered that one of the fire alarms in the stairwell was non-functional. The common area fire alarms were wired, not battery powered, and all 7 have to be the same or the fire alarm will go off... The model we had was ancient and no longer available, so I needed all 7 replaced. I called Jim and he was able to fit me in as an emergency call (the inspection was scheduled the next day). As he was replacing the alarms, he discovered the circuit on the second floor was incorrect (their bedroom smoke detector was improperly tied into the common area detectors) and he fixed it so that both worked properly. He also made sure that any plaster or other debris was swept up before he left. He really helped me out of a bind - the fire inspection the next morning passed with no problems.

It went great! He was available on an emergency basis, was straightforward with me about what needed to be done, and asked a very fair price although he pretty much had me over a barrel. The job was done quickly -- in a few days -- and left clean. I knock one star off because his assistant didn't quite finish labeling the circuits, but this was a small thing in an overall very positive experience. I would 100% use him again.

Very pleased with job. Jim was very professional. Called the day before to confirm when he would arrive and how long the job would take. He arrived early and did the job quickly paying attention to all details including placing drop cloths on any surface he thought might get dirty. Overall I was very pleased and would use JDO again.

I contacted J.D.O. initially based on highly favorable ratings provided by Angie's List reviewers and also because the company is located in Somerville, and I like whenever possible to support businesses located in my "hometown." After I explained the work I needed to have done, Jim said he was leaving for vacation in a couple of days and was pretty booked till then. Because what I needed was not urgent, I said I'd be glad to wait till after his vacation, and Jim agreed to call me upon his return. So I was all the more pleased when Jim called a couple of days later to say that he had time to stop by to at least check out what had to be done. He arrived exactly when he said he would, and was able to complete the two jobs described previously. The other job that I wanted to discuss involves installing outlets and lights in my basement to make it a more usable space. Jim asked that I map where I'd like to have outlets and overhead lights installed, which would enable him to provide a more accurate estimate of costs. So I look forward to getting Jim's advice and his cost estimate once I've figured out where I need the extra electric service. Jim and his assistant were here for about 30 minutes, or maybe a tad longer. Efficient, pleasant, seemingly very knowledgeable and experienced, and an astute listener to the customer's concerns: these are the qualities that stand out in my mind based on my brief initial experience with J.D.O. . . .all of which gives me confidence in turning to J.D.O. for future electrical work.

I called him one day, heard back from him that same day, and the following he came by to look at the problem. We discussed a solution. He then researched the supplies he would need, called me two days later to say he had ordered them, and scheduled a time to come the following week. He did come and fixed the lighting problem,. He was courteous, professional and prompt. He kept in touch during the process. He did the work well.
