I purchased a coupon through Angie's List for a chimney inspection and sweep. They system made it easy and I noted three dates and times when we were available for the service. Josh got back to me right away and we set up the appointment. He was right on time and very professional. He did an inspection of the fireplace and furnace. Our home was new to us so we didn't know how the fireplace looked. He said it was still very clean and didn't actually need to be swept. He gave us a voucher to have him come back and service the chimney when it was actually dirty. Josh was very knowledgeable and helped explain how the fireplace worked, over how the weather can affect the fire and tips to help the fire be more efficient. I was very happy with Josh and I would recommend his services.

He was fantastic. He showed up on time. It is a new house for us, and we didn't know the last time the chimney was cleaned, so that's why we called him. He told us our chimney was in great condition and we didn't even need the cleaning! He talked to us about some other things we were interested in (like converting from oil), and he was very helpful and knowledgeable in that regard, too. Then, at the end, he told us that we didn't owe him anything because he hadn't done the cleaning. He was all around a very nice guy, very professional and courteous, and didn't try to take advantage of us, which we very much appreciated. I would totally recommend him to anyone based on our experience with him.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased for chimney cleaning. It was good. It was a free inspection and he said that it actually didn't need to be cleaned. He was very pleasant. He said that I could use the $89 that I paid for it in the future to buy a cap or to have it cleaned. He didn't actually have to do anything and it was good to know that it is actually okay. He was very prompt and came when it was a good time for me. He was very friendly.

Got this service through an Angie's List deal. As anyone who has used "deals" knows, this is often a crapshoot as far as the service you end up with. Up Yer Flue was great. Our original service date ended up being during the first snowstorm of the year, so we rescheduled for the next weekend. Showed up on time, friendly and did a quality job. Would use again, with or without the deal.

It went really well. The price was really affordable. The contractor explained what needed to be done and what needs to be done in the future. He made a point to come back and redo the video of the inside of the chimney because it did not work the first time. I would definitely use his services again.

I was happy with the analysis and time spent discussion options, and hope to take some action in the future.

Josh was absolutely wonderful, but my old Victorian fireplace had a slanted, tiny opening that wouldn't accommodate his equipment.

Josh showed up early for the 8am appointment and got right to work on the chimney. He brought all of the necessary tools and clean up equipment. He worked quickly and efficiently and left the space neat and clean afterwards. He took before and after pictures of the chimney to show the improvement from the sweep. He was honest and gave me good advice about the use of chimneys in an old home like the one I own. I've already scheduled another appointment to have my other 2 chimneys swept. I called Josh because one of the downspouts in my rental house had come off and the gutters had not been cleaned in a while. That same day he stopped by the house and sent me a quote. Two days later, as agreed, he cleaned the gutters and re-installed the down-spout. Highly recommend him as he is local, prompt and his prices are right on his website.

Responded same day, arrived 48 hours later, very prompt (a little early actually, whole job took approx 1 1/2 hours, very clean and extremely informative re: chimney care. Bill was as quoted over the phone. Altogether a very professional job by a very personable young man. HIGHLY recommended

VERY IMPRESSIVE, very reasonable, and professional. He arrived right on time, with company logo/uniform, introduced himself very politely and explained that his was a one-person business and was fully insured. He taught me the basic mechanics of my damper, showed me the interior of my chimney with a flashlight, and then swept the chimney. Then he went up on the roof to inspect the chimney and took photos before and after his sweep. He sent the photos to me by email immediately after the service. I already knew (before his arrival) that I had water leaking in through my chimney. His photos identified the problem quite easily. A missing brick, crumbling mortar in some places, and damaged flashing. At my request, he gave me two written quotes on the spot, to fix the flashing (with two different materials), which I thought were reasonable. Overall, I was extremely happy and felt reassured that there are indeed honest chimney sweeps out there in business!

I've never given my Chimney much thought - until last Sunday. Apparently Hurricane Sandy was so powerful it blew the top few courses right off the Chimney and onto my roof. With Winter fast approaching I needed to get this fixed right away. My Chimney is small, 50 years old, and is only about one foot square by two feet tall. It's really only an exhaust for my Gas Furnace. But as such, it is vital. At first I was going to do it myself, and headed to Home Depot for about $50 worth of new tools and supplies. But when I put up my ladder, it was just not long enough. It reached the roof, but just barely. To be safe you want at least three rungs to extend above the roof. I've been up there before with this ladder, but did not want to chance it again. So it was either spend $200 on a longer ladder, or call somebody. I went right to Angie's List, and found a Chimney Sweep and Repairman in my own neighborhood. I like to hire Contractors that live close by - with the expectation that perhaps the time they save in commuting and the gas they save in driving might result in a lower cost. And why not support someone in the neighborhood ? I called Josh in the late morning, and he said he could look at it that same afternoon. It was Veteran's Day, and was unseasonably warm. Perfect weather for Roof Work. He put up his ladder, which was plenty long, and we both checked out the damage. He said he could fix it right away, and quoted me $175. As this was less than a new ladder alone, I gave him the job instantly. He went right to work, cleaned the bricks, placed them with new mortar, formed a sloped Crown on the top, which it never had before. The he installed a Stainless Steel Cap for me. I must emphasize I supplied the Cap - they can be expensive. There is no way he could do this work for what I paid and include a Cap. But if you lack a Cap you should definitely pay Josh extra to buy you one and install it. He completed the job just as it getting dark, and as he had a minute or two before it became completely black, he even cleaned my Gutters at no extra charge ! This is a dangerous job that I have always avoided. It was nice of Josh to do it for me. He did not use a brush or a hose in gutters, but just removed the major debris. Which was great ! A fun fact is Josh even looks the part of a Chimney Sweep. No, he's not covered in soot, nor talks in a Cockney Accent. But he is tall and thin, with a jet-black goatee. If Disney ever remakes Mary Poppins this is your man !

Owner Josh showed up on time. Introduced himself and was good with my dog. He took his time inspecting and cleaning the chimney and furnace flues. He put down a large blanket while cleaning so no soot got anywhere. He then took time to give me a tutorial on my fireplace ( I have not used it before). He talked about some things I may like to get for it down the road to make it more efficient. Very good experience.
