Up Yer Flue Chimney Sweeps

Josh was responsive when I called to set up an appointment for a quote. He arrived on time for the quote and the job. Will hire Josh again when I'm ready to have a liner installed.

Everything was great. Prompt, clean, efficient.

Josh arrived one minute before our scheduled appointment to inspect our fireplace for the purpose of venting a gas insert up the chimney. He was immediately very friendly and personable. When he came inside, I said "Don't worry about your shoes," but he politely removed them anyways. He was very knowledgeable about the whole process including issues with building codes. He provided a lot of advice and gave us a very reasonable expectation of the exorbitant cost to do a fireplace install. Even though it may have been to his benefit to utilize the chimney, he nonetheless advised against it for the exorbitant cost. I had researched chimney inspection prices so I was expecting him to charge between $100 and $150, but he said that I owed him nothing for the visit. I still insisted on buying him breakfast by giving him $20 for his time. I will definitely recommend Josh and Up Yer Flue Chimney Sweeps to all my friends and neighbors in the area!

The work was done quickly and cleanly. I've forgotten the gentleman's name - sorry. He covered the floors with tarps and left no soot, ash or any evidence of his work. He was prompt, friendly and efficient. He is not a chimney, liner or stove installer and appears to have little knowledge of that type of work. But he does a fine job cleaning the chimney. My previous person who has retired was also a mason. He was capable of also of doing all the service associated with stove and chimney maintenance. He also went to the top of my chimney and took the cap off to inspect every time. That is what I am used to and I prefer that kind of expertise and service. HOWEVER, if you want a chimney clean out, you can be happy with Up Yer Flue.

Service was excellent, they called ahead to let me know when they would arrive, he set up with drop cloths and an industrial strength vacuum. The cleaning was quick and thorough with zero mess. We had had a chimney fire and he checked for damage from that. The owner also took the time to give me tips on how to use the fireplace better to keep creosote from building up so bad next time. (Thanks!) We will definitely be using Up Yer Flue again.

Came out to sweep the chimney, but tools would not fit in my small coal burning fireplace. Was very helpful in advising me on all my fireplaces in the house, and gave me a full refund.

Primarily, we communicated through Angie's List. All of my queries were promptly responded to with precision. On the day of service, they were actually early and they were extremely knowledgeable and quick. I even learned a new way to cheaply and easily clean my pellet stove window! I would highly recommend.

The cleaning was done well and unlike previous cleaners Josh did not attempt to extract more work for thousands of dollars.

Josh showed up right on time this morning to sweep my chimney. I recently bought my house and had no idea when the chimney had ;ast been swept. It's also the first home I've owned with a fireplace, so I really wasn't sure what I was in for. Josh explained exactly what he was going to do and then went straight to work. First he inspected the chimney and immediately put my mind at ease, letting me know I had a stainless steel chimney liner and that it looked like the fireplace had been well maintained. He swept and vacuumed the chimney without getting a trace of soot in the house. Josh was personable, professional, thorough and extremely knowledgeable. He answered my myriad of questions, recommended places to get wood, how and where to best store it. He even walked me through the basics of building a great fire! I will definitely use Up Yer Flue Chimney Sweeps in the future, and highly recommend them to anyone with a chimney!

They were great. Quick, cleaned up after themselves, very personable. Didn't try to upsell us on anything, other than letting us know that we probably should get a cap (which we knew already). We have lived in our house for 18 years and have never had the chimney cleaned, so we were concerned that there might be issues we weren't aware of that could pose a danger, but we were assured that our chimney was in good shape and didn't require anything other than the cleaning. Very straightforward, easy to work with.

We hired Josh to clean our fireplace and chimney, we're new owners and never had it done. I communicated with Josh thru Angie's List email, he was very responsive. Josh showed up on time and was friendly and honest. He looked at our fireplace and chimney and said it was clean, so only he inspected it inside and out and provided us with a report of recommend repairs. He spent almost an hour educating us on how to safely use our fireplace. Also he was great with our dog.

They actually called to see if they could arrive early and I stated yes. They were courteous and professional, placed protective coverings into the living room from the fireplace out, and went about their business. When they were done, all was picked up, fireplace and chimney cleaned, and except for the lack of ashes in the fireplace, you wouldn't know they were there. I burn 3+ cords of wood in the fireplace each winter, with a set of custom doors from Yankee Fireplace that work great and keeps the heat from going up the chimney at the end of the night, the fireplace heats the whole downstairs. I will use Up Yer Flue again next year!

Josh is very professional, thorough, and quick. He explained what he was doing and gave me an education on chimneys and fireplaces. He inspected one fireplace and told me it didn't even need to be cleaned. That's honesty for you. I am very happy with his work and will absolutely use him again.

We bought a house this past spring, and wanted to have the fireplace and chimney inspected and cleaned before using it. Josh from Up Yer Flue came by to do everything, and was incredibly professional. He explained what they'd be doing, and what they were looking for, and got right to work. When he was done, he explained everything he'd found, and some things we should do in the future (like fix the chimney cap, which only covers half the chimney!). I will definitely be giving Josh a call next year at this time to have it inspected again, or if I ever have any concerns. Highly recommended!

Had a problem with birds entering the stovepipe and making their way into the woodstove. Josh returned my message within hours of my request through AL. He was booked solid but scheduled an appt for today (Sunday). He arrived ahead of schedule and quickly replaced the cap with a more suitable one for less than the cost for cap only at the local fireplace and stove shop. Josh is extremely friendly, professional and attentive. He was happy to show and explain all he did. A great guy. Will use Up Yer Flue the neext time I need anything related to my stove or chimney.

Josh and his team did an excellent job, they were on time, professional, and explained everything as they went. I had several quotes from other chimney companies, and I decided to hire these guys because they were honest in their assessment of what needed to be done, and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need, which a couple other companies did. Josh explained all the work to be done and the pro's and con's of not doing it. They did a very good job of cleaning up and not messing up my finished basement. I would recommend Josh's service to anyone in the area looking for chimney cleaning or repair, he was on time for both the cleaning and the liner install, and was courteous and friendly. A+ review.

They came out for the big deal. They did one floor and they didn't take all of the ashes, they took some of the ashes. I had an experience, I thought that the guys were good and that they gave me good information but the actual execution of the job is what took me over. I do plan on using them again because they had a solution for my chimney flab is frosted in mine, the handle to pull it is frosted and I had some people look at it and he was the only one to come up with a solution on how to fix it. I do plan to use them again in the future but in terms with the special that I had through Angie's List, I thought that it was not that great as he was supposed to clean the ashes and he left the ashes in the thing in the basement. He swept the chimney inside and in the house and all that but the downstairs part was not up to the mark. I did appreciate that he did contact me and he did answer questions over the email, it wasn't all bad, it was just kind of sloppy. The price is an 'A' as it was a special. The cost was $125 which was the cost of the big deal.

Every strong A rating we read about these guys prior to contacting them was justified. If Up Yer Flue is any indication of the level of quality providers to be found on Angie's List, we will be relying on the List a lot more. These guys were honest, thorough, extremely fair and straightforward with their pricing, and very respectful of our home. Despite the messy job, you wouldn't even know they were here afterward. As you should expect with service providers this good, they book a few weeks out during busy seasons. But the peace-of-mind from this quality and honest service was well worth the wait. Don't waste the time that I did reading a million other profiles and reviews. Make the call. And now, if you'll excuse me, I want to go build a fire.

Josh was curteous, efficient, knowledgable and responsive. He quickly assessed the problem, provided an immediate written estimate, scheduled the work within the week. When he first entered the house, he removed his shoes before walking on the carpet. On the day of the repair, he called to say he was running 10 minutes behind. THe work done was great and so far, no leaks! Josh also provided pictures when the repair was complete.

Josh was great. Cleaned the chimney that was left in disastourous condition by previous owner. Did a fine job. Basement was a little sooty afterward

I called him first to get a quote for a chimney cap. After reviewing multiple offers, he gave us the best price. When it was time to install it, he was punctual, friendly and very knowledgeable. He even did an inspection of the chimney and did not charge more to the original quote for the cap. He gave good advice. Another provider indicated that the flute needed a liner (other provided never took a picture), but Josh showed me videos and photos indicating otherwise that it was not needed (I appreciate it as it saved us significant money). He installed a good sturdy cap (not the thin ones that are sold in home improvement stores). He showed me the cap and explained how he will install it. He was quick and everything went smooth. I appreciate all his work, humor and direct talk. When I need something done to my chimney in the future, I won't hesitate in calling him.

Josh is really great to work with (funny, energetic, knowledgeable and loves is his craft). He was very flexible in scheduling the chimney cleaning and was punctual bring an apprentice with him. We had just purchased the home so Josh was good enough to go through two chimneys, a pellet stove and the oil burner chimney to teach me about their use. Josh gave me some great tips and after inspecting our chimneys suggested we use the money toward a new chimney cap. We had a cap missing which had already been raised by the home inspector so we knew Josh wasn't trying to upsell - he was looking out for his customer. When the date came to install the chimney cap he learned he had ordered the wrong size. He was apologetic and even said he would install both for the cost of one as a housewarming/baby gift! Business owners like Josh don't exist anymore and I am so glad we found him. He will be taking care of our chimneys and stoves from now on.

Upon inspection he determined that it did not need to be cleaned at this time and would come back after the next winter. He was very nice and professional.
