Description of Work: I needed some work done before an inspection deadline, and I was having a hard time finding somebody on such short notice before the holidays. Luis replaced a rotted subfloor under a toilet, retiled the floor and reinstalled the toilet. He also filled some holes on the exterior of the house and reshingled those spots. Luis was great at communicating and was willing to work within my timeline.

Description of Work: Luis has the utmost integrity and is one of the most professional contractors I have ever worked with. He is very punctual, methodical, full of great solutions. He and his men renovated our bathroom and repainted all of our walls in our condo after a comprehensive rewiring was done I our 110 year old condo. Great pricing and great attitude. Luis was great to work with. I cannot recommend him enough |

Description of Work: Luis is the handy man I've always wanted. He was very responsive and an instant friend. Easy to communicate with over the phone and text - a big plus for me. He helped me and my boyfriend get settled in our new apartment with some home improvements and installations. His attitude, experience and know-how really made this such a great experience. We contact him for some small projects and he was happy to fit us in, fast. Definitely my go-to guy for anything around the apartment we want done right, and I'm happy to be able to recommend him to friends.

+ -1 moreOverall Luis knew his way around the house. He seamlessly installed lighting, a dimmer, and window treatment hardware for us. The window treatment hardware was not a standard install, and he had several ideas to help us get what we wanted. Ultimately, I'm very satisfied with the work that he did. Furthermore, I'm confident that he would do a great job in future projects. He is licensed and told me that he learned the trade by fixing up a multi-family of his own. I recommend his work. On his pricing, I have two criticisms. First, his hourly rate doubles after the special $59 for the first two hours. Second, we paid for him to walk around the house and consult on the job(s) to be done, which probably took 1/2hour or more. He is rather chatty and assessing the job should not be part of an hourly rate. On the positive side, if you want electric or plumbing services (something of the sort), his hourly rate is less than that of an electrician or plumber, so worth it.

Description of Work: Luis made a variety of small repairs and advised me on the scope of work on one issue in particular. He fixed the hardware on two bifold doors that weren't closing correctly; he patched and finished (stained) a section of wood flooring and repaired some bathroom fixtures that had become loose.

The lock had to be taken to a locksmith after we discovered that the old lock did not fit in our new door. Luis made the roundtrip and put the new lock in. We paid for the locksmith work plus travel time. Experience was pleasant and professional with charges discussed up front. Cost was on target from estimate.

+ 0 moreThis is not the first time we've worked with Luis. We always enjoy dealing with him because he's so easy to work with, gives us a fair price, and does great work. The laundry room table was tough because we wanted storage for the laundry baskets, but the floor in our laundry room is sloped. So Luis built us a laundry table where both the table surface and the shelves are pool table flat. The bookcase is over 8 feet high and four feet wide. It has one rounded side for knick-knacks and Luis stained both of these pieces to match the rooms they're in. If any testament to Luis' patience is needed, I had him go through no less than eight stain colors trying to find a good match the existing trim in that room; which is decades old and has quite a bit of color variation. He found the perfect color.
Description of Work: We hired Luis to do a couple of pieces of built-in furniture: a bookcase and a laundry table. Both pieces were custom designed and stained to match the rooms they're in.

+ 1 moreThis was a big job and a ton of work, and there were no complaints or hassles. He gave an up-front estimate and stuck to it even when the ceiling and molding turned out to be more work than expected. (Our house is over 100 years old and has a total of zero straight walls and even the height of the walls varies just enough to notice when you're hanging molding.) Luis is great to work with because he is friendly and personable and very interested in making sure the customer is happy.
Description of Work: We hired Luis and his team to paint several rooms of our house, including one really troublesome ceiling, and install reproduction picture-hanging molding in a couple of bedrooms. It took about four days and they did an absolutely fantastic job.
