Gary had stopped by to give an estimate for the work I wanted to do, and as he was busy, we were able to schedule the work within a couple of weeks. We wanted to replace all the recessed lights in our 2nd floor with air-sealed, IC-rated units so our new insulation could go right up against the lights in the attic and save energy. We also needed to replace several deteriorating fixtures on the exterior of the house. Work took place over two days in one week, and Gary worked by himself the first day, and with his twin brother, Greg, on the second day. On the first day, Gary installed 5 recessed lights, replacing the existing ones, cut precise and careful openings a little larger to accommodate the new fixtures. One of the lights was difficult to install the trim as it was in the middle of the ceiling over the staircase, so Gary needed to set up an extension ladder in the stairwell to reach it. The finished look for all the fixtures was perfect -- clean and no touch ups necessary. He made sure to mention to us the condensation he noticed on floor boards he pulled up over the insulation over the light fixtures. We appreciated the head's up on this potential problem which we believe will be fixed with the new lights and blown-in insulation up against the fixtures. We will check for moisture this winter to prevent potential mold issues. On the second day, they put in the attic light fixtures and switch/outlet. Fixtures were placed well and there were no complications. They also installed the timers, which needed a neutral wire that wasn't in one bathroom (but was in the adjacent bathroom). They worked together to pull the neutral wire from the attic into the other bathroom so that the timer could be installed properly. The existing plate was for two switches, and Gary needed to cut a hole to put a second box above the existing box (placed in narrow vertical space between two studs). A third timer replaced a switch for the heat lamp. When it was time to go outside to install the outside fixtures, it was very cold, in low-mid 30s. It was really difficult working under such extreme conditions. I appreciated that they did not give up. Everything looked and worked great. We were happy to have functional and handsome lights outside of the house. Their work was meticulous and careful. I would hire Gary again for any future project we have, and highly recommend him to others without reservation.
Description of Work: Gary replaced 6 recessed lights with new construction IC-rated fixtures in 2nd floor ceiling (via the attic), including 3 hall lights, 2 shower lights, and 1 heat lamp. He installed 3 bathroom timers for fan and heat lamp. In the attic, he added 2 bare light fixtures and a switch/outlet. Outside of the house, he replaced 5 light fixtures (2 by the front door, 1 by the back door, 2 motion detector lights around the sides of the house), and added 1 new motion detector light by the garage.

Fine. He was scheduled to come on a Thursday, but called early in the morning to tell me that he was sick. We rescheduled for Sunday. He showed up on time and was able to get the job done in the 2 hours that we had purchased thru the big deal.
Description of Work: We had some outlets in our kitchen that were not working. Gary fixed the two that were easily fixable and explained what it would take to fix the other two in our island. Since it would entail going thru the finished ceiling in our basement, we declined to have that work done. I would definitely use Gary in the future.

My husband and I purchased a house that needed a complete kitchen remodel. We found Gary on Angieslist and he responded to our call right away. Gary came to our house and did a thorough walk-through then came back with a detailed quote of the work that we needed done. Gary is very good about communicating exactly what it is that he is going to do. He likes to educate his customers, which we appreciate. The work we hired Gary to do was over a 3-4 week span and was initially just for the kitchen remodel. But as we got to know our house better, we realized that there was additional electrical work that needed to be addressed. Gary was very accommodating and flexible with us and was able to fit in the time for that additional work. Since we did a complete kitchen remodel, we hired a plumber, general contractor, painters, plasterers etc. Gary was very good about working with and around those other people. He knows what needs to be done when and by whom. At the end of the project, our kitchen looks amazing! The recessed lights that Gary installed were placed in perfect locations! Gary has been doing this long enough to know what goes where and how a kitchen should look. Another nice thing about working with Gary is that he is very professional. He comes in, does his work, cleans up (unlike some other repair guys) and is always friendly! We plan on having Gary come back and do some additonal work in our upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms. It's nice to know that we have an electrician that we can trust and rely on.
Description of Work: Gary installed recessed lighting, pendant lights, numerous outlets, dimmers, wiring for dishwasher and garbage disposal, installed and wired over-the-range microwave, outlets in new island, wiring for refrigerator, removed ceiling fan and other things.

Willing to bend his schedule to meet ours and get the job done to 100% satisfaction. Explained everyhing he was proposing and doing. We will definitely hire him again when we need electrical work.

Gary was the only one of 5 electricians to call back. I emailed him as the problem on Friday, asking for a call back. He called the next day (a Saturday) and asked what the issue was. When I described the problem, he knew that identifying the reason for the intermittent outages would be difficult to find because no circuit breakers were being thrown. He was concerned that I get the problem fixed but he forthrightly informed me that he was personally booked for the next three weeks, saying "I have to honor the commitments I have already made to my customers." He asked me if I would like his twin brother (a licensed electrician also) who works for him to come out "tomorrow" (Sunday) at the "regular hourly rate" (a very reasonable rate!). His brother called me within the half hour and we settled on a time. He arrived at the appointed time and immediately began to problem solve. After eliminating several possible problems, he consulted with his brother (who had already done check in calls) and he began another round of investigation to identify the source of the problem. He found the source of the problem in a ceiling fan wiring and junction box then found a way to fix it without ripping up the floor in the attic. He worked for 5 and half hours without a break. I appreciated his telling me what he was doing, why he was doing it, and what he was finding. He was on a mission to find and fix the problem. I am grateful for Gary's responsiveness and his brother's persistence. Hopefully, no more intermittent outages!
Description of Work: Had to troubleshoot as to why there was an intermittent outages of power for part of the house (that without rhyme or reason go out and then mysteriously come back on) and then fix it.

I needed the work done on the day before a new stove was being delivered and the old one removed. Gary went out of his way to accomodate my timing needs by coming at 5:00 after normal working hours. He was punctual, efficient and professional. Whatever electrical problems come up in the future, I will call him first.

Gary started by going over his licenses and experience. He then turned to the work and very quickly discovered what was wrong and explained everything to me very clearly. I noted that the switches did not work properly and he knew right away that the wires had been connected improperly so he fixed that, too.

Right on time, great followup, incredibly easy to work with. Gary is a Master Electrician, with many years experience, and worth the rate he charges. I have a lot of unhappy experience with tradespeople at this point - I no longer hand out props easily, but Gary fully deserves the compliment. (* I also want to note that he's very organized.) I had a bathroom remodel during which the contractor, and all her contacts, disappeared. Among other things, leaving me with no working lights in the BR and no way to reach the previous electrician who'd first pulled the permit and worked on the job. On Angie's List, found Gary Ferzoco and a couple others - made contacts and Gary was the first to reply, first to come look at the job (and went way out of his way to do so), and gave me the full 411 on the wiring and inspection issues I would need to deal with. As soon as he arrived, Gary showed me his licenses and insurance, then went through everything I needed, set up an appointment in about 3 weeks time and sure enough, he was there on the appointed day and time. He was finished in 4 hours, just as I had hoped. What a relief!! Totally recommend Gary Ferzoco. I just wish I'd met him before I started remodeling this house a year ago.

We hired Gary through his $99 for two hours of service deal. We had two things we wanted done: To install a new programmable thermostat to replace on that was broken, and to see if he could fix a long-dead light fixture in the basement. The first thing he did when he arrived was to show us all of his certifications and licenses to demonstrate his experiences. No service person I've ever hired has ever done this without me asking, and I think it's something that should be adopted as a required policy for every licensed electrician, plumber, carpenter, or whatever. Putting in the new thermostat was a problem and probably took longer than it should have. Whether it was because the thing was difficult to install, or whatever, Gary had to really force it. A great deal of the time was spent trying to figure out why the display wasn't lighting, which turned out to be because he had installed the batteries wrong. He did finally get it on, and it has been working since that time. He also taught me a great trick about how to keep a furnace going if a thermostat is broken by touching the contacts together (it'll keep going forever unless you separate the contacts). He then went to work on the basement ceiling light, which had been broken for years. A different electrician had said that there was no power between the light switch and the light, and that the whole drop ceiling would have to be taken down to find the problem. Gary took another look and did some great diagnosing to find out that the malfunction was in the light socket itself. He did some fancy wiring and left two secure capped wires and gave me explicit instructions on how to attach the wires to a new light socket if I wanted to do it myself . He showed me that the connection was working by attaching to a light socket he had brought. Since the original light socket was around 50 years old, I'm still looking around to find one that matches. When he was looking at the light switch he saw that the wiring was nearly arcing there and fixed that as well. Unlike many electricians, Gary wanted to show me what he was doing and explain the problems and provide tips. He was very conscientious and easy to communicate with. On the way out, he noticed a dark area around a light switch near the bathroom and was concerned that it might be dangerous. He took the switch off, and looked around. Turned out to be okay, but the fact that he noticed it and was concerned is a real sign of his professionalism.

I called on Thursday after just after I purchased the coupon and he called back immediately. He had some time on Monday and was early by an hour. He got everything done within the time. I had no problems with Gary at all. He was prompt, prepared and organized. He explained what he was doing in terms that I understood; not using electrician terminology to drive up the bill. He gave me options about the minimum and maximum that we could do and let me decide how to proceed. He finished the same day and cleaned up.
Description of Work: Gary replaced a lighting fixture in the bathroom, which led to finding an "always hot" connection. He was able to replace the fixture, fix the wiring and place it into the wall so that the apartment would be safe for occupancy. He replaced several other light fixtures, switches and looked at the dishwasher and disposal to make sure they were connected properly.

I signed up for the Special Deal which was 1 hr. electrical service for $69. Gary called ahead to say he could come 2 days earlier and arrive in an hour which he did. That worked for my schedule too. He showed me his master electrician license and insurance policy and explained that now the electricity for all electrical jobs requires that the electricity be shut off. I assumed that the light switches were probably the cause of the problem and told him I would buy the switches that he recommended which I did. He replaced both switches but the ceiling light still didn't work correctly. He checked the light fixture and the baffle had caused a build up of heat burning the wires. We went to the store and bought a new ceiling light and he installed it. I told him I would pay for the extra time which was $85. for the 2nd hour. I like to watch and learn how repairs are done and he was very willing to explain everything he was doing. He cleaned the work area before he left. My ancient wired door bell didn't seem to work correctly but he checked it and it was OK, just doesn't ring very loud at one door. He tried to replace a bulb in a torchiere floor lamp which I wasn't able to do myself. It appeared to be the right replacement bulb but eventually we discovered it wasn't exactly the same. I asked for advice on a possible future installation of a 220 socket and he advised me the best way to do it. I was very relieved that the hall ceiling light problem was fixed and grateful that he was willing to stay the extra hour to do it and to give me advice about other possible future projects. Gary is very professional, courteous, works efficiently and before he left, wanted to solve all the problems I was encountering, answered all my questions and left the work area clean. I was very pleased and would definitely hire him again.

We were having problems with the light in the office/guest room turning itself on and off (previous owners operated the light using a remote). Gary was referred to us by a friend and first came to do an estimate for the work. He also suggested easy, low-cost options (ie, new batteries for the remote) to fix the problem. Unfortunately, none of those worked. Gary's estimate of the time and cost of the work was right on, and he was very good about cleaning up at the end of the project (asked for a broom and vacuum cleaner). He installed the switch and outlet and only made a couple of small holes in the wall. He did the initial patch work and then explained how we could finish the work ourselves (rather than paying him or someone else to come in and finish the patching job). He did ask that we move everything out of the way before he came which would save him time (and us money) which seemed like a very reasonable request to us. I was home while he worked, and as a new homeowner, I really appreciated his willingness to explain everything he did. Gary was very personable and professional, and we plan to hire him again in the future to help us complete another project.

EXCELLENT! We had to get three light fixtures installed in our house. I contacted Gary because he had good ratings and had a coupon. Gary gave me an appointment for the same week. He arrived on time, showed me his license and insurance and got to work. I had removed the new light fixtures out of the box and kept them ready for him. Gary took less than 35 minutes to do the job. He was courteous, professional and he even answered all our questions.

****WOW!!!!!!!***** What else can I say but WOW! Gary & Greg Ferzoco of Gary Ferzoco Electric were absolutely amazing. I had some pressing issues involving a tenant which needed to be rectified asap so on 9/8/2012 I used another service(not Angie's List, I know my fault) to hire an electrician to do the work. The original electrician I attempted to hire was awesome over the phone but the day of the appointment he allegedly forgot he had an appointment, and was very laissez-faire about my situation. I say allegedly because I got the sense that my zip code wasn't good enough for his presence; i'll leave it at that. After 45 minutes of waiting for him to show up, I used the same service(second mistake) and reached out to another electrician that was able to come out. He showed up late, was not personable but was able to provide a quote and setup the work tentatively for 9/13/2012. The new electrician promised to email the quote later that day and confirm the 9/13/2012 commitment. I advised him that it was important that he advise me because I live in New York and would have to take off a day from work to come and meet him as well as giving the tenants notice. Fast forward to Wednesday 9/12/2012 and I hadn't received a quote nor a definitive answer whether he could make it. Sensing I would need a backup plan I joined Angie's List Tuesday of this week and reached out to two or three electricians and the only one that got back to me asap and was super professional was Gary. Gary worked with me and showed concern for my situation and worked it out to get his brother Greg to do the work yesterday. These two guys are AWESOME! Greg was punctual, worked hard and quality was not sacrificed. Gary even showed up later in the day and spoke with me and my girlfriend. The customer service that we received was top notch and I was so impressed I could not thank them enough. I am like many out there that can be cynical with regards to the construction industry but these two professionals restored my faith. I am soooo happy with the service I received from Gary and Greg of Gary Ferzoco Electric!!! I suspect we will have a long lasting working relationship and even better longtime friends.
