We hired them because they advertise themselves as "piano specialists" and we had a piano to move in addition to our furniture. The man who came to do the estimate assured us that they could move a piano upstairs in our new condo. He also said that the truck could be loaded in 3-4 hours top. Their estimate shows that the piano would take .5 hours. The estimate was $1800. In actuality it took almost 7 hours to load and they had difficulty getting the piano out of the house. When they arrived at the condo they told me that the estimate was off and that it was going to be $3200. In addition they wanted a bank check made out to the owner Steve Casey or they wouldn't unload the truck. My bank was closed by then but the drive-up window was still open so I obtained a bank check for $2500 and intended to pay the rest with cash because the bill wasn't final. I complained that the estimate was bogus and they said it might be less than the $3200. After they moved everything in they approached me and said that they didn't want to move the piano in and up to the 2nd floor because it was too dangerous for the four of them and they might damage the piano and the stairway. I told them that if they were that uncomfortable with it I would rather that they send out someone who knew how to do it. They then put the piano in my garage and told me to call the manager. She told me that she would call me back the next day after she discussed it with the crew. (The movers worked hard by the way and I tipped them. They weren't the problem.) She never did call back or return any of my numerous calls or emails until I demanded to talk to her a week later. She then informed me that they never agreed to move the piano upstairs even though the estimate shows it. She said that didn't matter because it didn't state that the piano was going upstairs. I told her that the estimator had assured my wife that it could be moved upstairs. It was a straight in the front door, up the staircase and place it at the top of the stairs where it was to reside. The pedals on the piano were also damaged and when I asked her about that she told me that they only honor claims for scratches. (This is true - their insurance is for 60 cents/lb unless you purchase more and doesn't cover mechanical damages) I then asked her to either get someone to move the piano or to reimburse me for it and she refused. I then mentioned that if they didn't complete the move or reimburse me I was going to file a complaint with someone or give them a bad review. She hung up on me.I can't believe that a company would behave like this. I should have read the online reviews - shame on me. Check them out. I hired someone last week who had no problem moving the piano. He did it with a 3 man crew and he could have done it with just two men and a winch. I would not recommend Casey Moving at all mainly because they were totally unresponsive and unprofessional.

Everything went well, right up untill the actual day of the move, Unfortunately I had some last minute out of state bussiness I HAD to attend to on the day of the move, so I had to leave my wife in charge of the move, no biggie, Casey was a professional, right? HA! Their operations dept. decided that they would park the trailer they were going to load on the property the night before, well, we were in a condo complex and there were strict rules governing overnight parking. I gave them explicit instructions on EXACTLY where their driver could spot their trailer, when we came back to the condo later that day we had found that their driver had left a 53' trailer in the wrong spot, right on a curve, creating a dangerous situation for other residents trying to enter, or leave the complex. Needless to say the condo association was on the phone informing us about the hazardous situation created by the movers trailer, all because NO-ONE gave their driver my instructions. Their trailer, they decided they would use a rental trailer, and NOT one of their moving trailers to move all our worldly posessions, in the trucking industry this type of trailer is known as a "freight box" this trailer has no system for securing the load, there are no logistic rails, and no tie downs, this type of trailer was designed for transporting bulk freight, skids, crates, pallets, etc. NOT fragile household goods. So, none of our belongings were secured to the frailer, the entire load was simply held in place behind two sheets of plywood and a couple of "stretcher bars". On the day of delivery we were informed that the driver had overslept and he was running about an hour late, no biggie. When he did show up he informed us that he did not unload, and that a crew was on it's way, I thought that was a bit odd, but, I was in no position to argue. After an hour of waiting we were informed that the crew wasn't coming after all, and they were in the process of obtaining alternate labor. Four (4) hours later a crew finally arrives, it is now 1:00 in the afternoon, and the central FL sun was beating down. They opened the trailer at the new house it was immediately evident that the load had shifted and things were damaged, I watched in horror as my childhood dresser came off the trailer with it's top half smashed, my mother's antique hope chest came off missing a wheel, our microwave cart came off just short of totally destroyed, box after box came off crushed, and they totally lost our patio table. I was livid, absolutely outraged. the salesman called to try to smooth things over, I threatened to stop payment on the check I was so furious, in retrospest, not a good thing, but I was right in the middle of the worst moving nightmare ever. Well, the driver got their money, and we got a huge headache. Would I use them again? Not even if they were the last moving company on earth.
Description of Work: My wife and I needed a household mover to move us from Haverhill MA, to our future home in Palm Coast FL. Casey was the first to respond to our mover inqueries, and the first (and only) to have a salesman actually show up in person, all the rest wanted over the phone descriptions of what had to be moved. They (Casey) were eager to get our bussiness, and seemed professional and experienced, even comming up with a solution to our short term storage issue. We thought we made the right choice of movers...OMG, were we in for a surprise.

Letter to Steve Casey of Casey Moving Dear Steve You asked about our experience with your company. I am going to give you my unvarnished opinion. I hope you take these thoughts and advice and make changes, because while you are a nice guy and seem to mean well, from the customers standpoint, working with your company has been a miserable, stressful experience. We should start the review with the quoting process. I choose to work with you because you presented a fixed price bid ? 8000 for the move, 1650 for the packing and 1250 if we needed an additional truck and packing materials were included. We asked you the first time we met you if that was in fact a fixed price and you said yes. Then when we the more detailed contract, it showed in fact that the packing was based on an hourly estimate, and that we paid for travel time to and from your facility. Through numerous conversations with Matt and Danielle, which took a very long time to finally get documented back to us, we finally agreed that the packing would be hourly, but that you would include the materials at no charge. And in your estimate and conversations, you had estimated 5-6 hours of packaging, which you said would be a high estimate. In the end, the packing took 9 hours plus 3 hours of travel time ? and that was after our family did over 20 hours of packing ourselves. You personally set the expectation of price and service as being outstanding. You boxes even say Great Service at a Great Price ? call me on it. I am calling you on it ? the service from the office staff in terms of being responsive or helpful is not there. You don?t answer your phone. I can?t get an email address for you and the only way I got your cell number is when I asked you for it personally when you were at my house. The only thing that went okay pre-pack and move was your delivery of boxes so that we could get some of the packing done ourselves. So then once we got to the pack and moving days, it started with the packers being 1.5 hours late. Danielle had told us they would arrive at 8. They showed at 9:45. We called to find out where they were and got someone in the office saying they weren?t responsible for sending out the crew, but would find out and call us back. The packers arrived before we got the call back. Turns out they were stuck and traffic, and never called. They started packing at about 10 and finally called it quits for the day at about 7. This is for a packing job you had estimated on the high side at 6 hours. And they still weren?t done. They did not have any wardrobe boxes, and there was still a lot to pack. So I personally packed boxes until midnight that nite, and it was a good thing I did, because while they promised to finish the packing the next day, they showed up and started loading instead. Throughout the morning, Kyrone insisted that it should all fit on one truck, but it wasn?t till after 5 that he figured out that it would take a truck and a half. And if you recall, we had to be out by 8:30 the next morning for the buyers final walk through. So in addition to your team of movers, myself, my wife, my son and my cleaning person all helped move the remaining items into the garage ? I was paying you to move me ? and wasn?t planning on being a mover in the process. I know you worked really hard to get the truck there the next morning at 6 am ? that was appreciated. What wasn?t was that you only sent the driver and one guy to load, so once again I was forced to help move items onto the truck so that we were done by 8:30. And then when they left, they were kind enough to leave me a wardrobe box full of garbage that I had to take to the dump. By the way, we were nice enough to buy them lunch both days so that they could keep working ? other wise less packing would have happened and the loading would have taken even longer. On the delivery side ? you know because you were there ? I was less than impressed in the organization. The truck showed up at 9, and as you recall, no help to unload it appeared until 11:30. We got it done in the window I had available, but because we had to rush, many things were left in places they did not belong. In addition, the damage that was done to some of my things could have both been anticipated and avoided. The antique desk whose legs were broken, should never had been put on the bottom of a stack of boxes and the TV base that was snapped off could have easily been removed with 4 screws. The table will likely cost me $200 to fix and the TV cost over a $100 for a new base to be ordered. The second delivery ? which you had never informed us would be on a different day, until the day of the move, was even worse. The driver showed up but help never did. He unloaded everything into either my garage or driveway, and it sat there for 4 days until Danielle finally did get some help to show up and rearrange some things for a couple of hours. And I still have an extra box of someone?s stuff in my garage that Danielle had said you would come and retrieve. Overall, on a scale of 1 ? 10, I?d give you and your organization a 4 in terms of service. And the only reason it is that high is that you showed up on the day you said you would at both ends and only a couple of things got broken. Moving is an incredibly stressful experience and I thought, because you, the owner, was the one that did the quote and had a really friendly, and understanding approach, that your staff would follow suit. That was not my experience at all. I think your organization has lots of potential. Your guys are friendly and helpful. But your office staff and you specifically are really difficult to reach when things aren?t going right or as planned. You try really hard to keep your promises, but many things seem to fall just short. I thank you for trying, and do wish I was in a position to recommend you, but based on my experience, that would not be the case. Regards Dan Kraus

Ihad initially hired this company for a move that was estimated to take around 8 hours (including unloading from storage). The driver and 2 movers arrived on time and did a satisfactory job moving our things from the apartment to the truck. The driver then asked for "the best way" to get to the destination address. Assuming he was using a GPS, I gave approximate directions and we left. However, the driver got lost after misunderstanding my directions. I got a call 2 hours later saying the driver was an hour out of the way and had to turn around, blaming me for the fact that he had gotten lost. He was not using a GPS, and then before unloading the truck, called the moving company to give his estimate and wanted to charge me both for the TIME and GAS of his error. Meanwhile, while fighting for 45 min on the phone, the other movers did not move a single thing. After being given an hour credit, they moved everything in and left about 2 hours before they had anticipated, but still claim they got back at the time they had initially given before unloading. I am still fighting to get a refund for even an hour of this time. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER use this company again. They are dishonest and unprofessional. This has been a horrific experience.

It was a very frustrating experience overall, especially with respect to punctuality and customer service. The only positive experience was that the two movers (Frankie and Shaun) were very helpful, cooperative and worked hard to get things moving quickly. Now on the frustrating part of my experience: the movers showed up late for 1.5 hours (the agreed time was 7:00 am at my house, as also confirmed by the email from Casey Movers prior to the move date, but they arrived at 8:30). The movers told me that they were not told that they needed to be at my house at 7:00 am. This was a major problem for me during that big day, since I had scheduled the cleaners to come clean the house after the move and I had many other things I needed to take care of that day. I called Casey Movers two times that morning to ask about what was happening, also sent an email. Nobody from Casey Movers called me either that day or the following Monday or Tuesday. I called them on Monday to express my frustration and annoyance, but could not talk to a supervisor to resolve my concern. They told me that a supervisor would call me back. Nobody called, and I called them the next day (on Tuesday) to find out how they would resolve my concern. Again nobody called me back, and I called them one final time on Wednesday and after couple of iterations a supervisor talked to me. She was telling that I should not be frustrated because I only paid for the hours that the movers worked. So being late for 1.5 hours was acceptable for the company, and they did not even bother to call me to explain what happened and to apologize after I tried to reach them many times. I will never use their service again, the company has set themselves very low standards for punctuality and customer service.

My parents hired Casey Movers for their move to Florida. The estimator was very nice and fairly accurate. The estimate was a very good price. The movers were extremely nice and very efficient. They were on time which was good because my parents are so precise. They wrapped all the furniture in blankets and shrink wrap and were very careful with my parents' fragile possessions. I was very surprised at how good they were with my parents grand piano because it's so big but they were very careful at moving it and keeping it undamaged. Everything seemed to be packed very tightly and very organized. My parents were very pleased with the movers.

first of all the movers guys in the trucks were great.the problem we had was not all of our funiture was delivered on that day.we had a differant crew on 7/15/11 move in day as oppose t0 move out day on 7/14 11. brian the foreman was great.he calle d the office and some one was going to call us backthat night..we got no call that night or on saturday and when I finally got thru to them brian was kind enough to bring some stuff that night on his way home in his own truck. When he showed up he had some of our things, but did not have any of the glass for our tables or our lamps he did not want to be responsible for that stuff in his own truck. The company said they would bring it on monday.needless to say monday came and went with another no call no show.On tuesday, they finally they show up,but as of today 7/25 11 still missing a piece of glass.Again the movers guys were great, the office and sales people were horrible

TERRIBLE See ABOVE Estimate was $980... Company arrived late on day of move, packed BUT failed to bring enough boxes, used boxes that I had and had someone bring down bboxes and packing materials makng me pay for 3 guys waiting for boxes to arrive for 2 hours, When I called office , they denied that there was any mention of packing kitchen and bedroom in the estimate ( I had original estimate and it was right there on estimate) and when they unloaded at new house, the Price for the move was #2500!!! almost triple the price I was quoted... When I called the office again there was no explaination and U had 3 large men standing around me ( single woman) and felt very initmidated so I paid... NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!! 9/21/11: In rebutal to the company's response. If one feels intimidated by others they sign anything to get them out of the house. I am obviously not the only person to feel discomfort with your workers... That woman had her husband there to protect her , I had only myself.. An estimate was made with all the areas considered including the basement. 3 nights in storage at 300 does NOT increase an estinmate of $980( I have the written estimate, it was not 1365) ) to $2500... I was moving the whole house not just the kitchen hutch and one closet....Your company is now known to me as giving low estimates and then really bumping them up when the homeowner is helpless to change their mind and has to pay to get their belongings. I have spoken to several people in the industry and they concur...

Response from Casey Moving & Storage
When we came to do the written estimate it was supposed to be a SAME DAY move. The price for the SAME DAY move was $945.00. Nathan had given you a price for a load one day( 9/13) and deliver(9/14) for $1365.00 plus a hold charge of $100 per night. Nathan also included packing your kitchen and hutch and one closet ONLY, when in fact the men had to pack the basement that had a lot of stuff in it that was not included in your original estimate. Also, you ended up holding it for 3 nights adding an additional $300 to your estimate. We were very up front with you and more than accomodating to your needs, I appologize you feel as though the services were not to your standards, but we have been in business for over 20 years and we certainly wouldn't be if our men were as big and scary as you describe them to be... I would also be happy to submit the customer comment sheet you filled out on move day saying nothing but great things about the men and the service. Thank you.

Estimate was low compared to actual price, but I was OK with that because the house was really packed and it would have been hard to assess that, and the job foreman warned me of that right off when he saw the number of boxes. Crew arrived almost an hour late which created problems with the final walkthrough of the new buyer. Movers were courteous and worked very hard, but they left it to us to take apart beds and tables, roll and tape rugs, etc. which was not what I was told during the estimate. I was also told that items would be shrink wrapped and they were not, and there are a number of nicks and dings, although nothing serious or worth complaining about.

Description of Work: Two movers came on time, and completely had my second floor apartment packed and ready to go within 2 hrs. Treated my antiques with great care and had me move to my new location before the estimated time they gave me. The move came in under the estimate too! Great job!!!!
