Jay and his team were fantastic! Jay gave a quote very quickly for our entire basement tiling. He quoted separately the tile price and price to remove the old vinyl tile. What a fantastic job! Demolition was fast and he cleaned up in two days. Jay was very polite and used email to follow up. This made it so easy to schedule the tiling and purchase tile in time for the job. Good value and the job looks wonderful. Highly recommend.

we saw his advertisement in Angie's list buy now and get it scheduled in 48 hours. So we call him first, it turn out to be a gimmick lie. He doesn't speak or understand English much. Beside hello and other than yes he is Jay and he does floor, and he already got projects line up for the next two months, then hang up on us before we even finish the sentence of asking if he can come and estimate first and do the job later. I guess he can be rude to potential customers when he doesn't need the business immediately. Don't waste your time on him, we would never use him or recommend him to anyone.

Sorry, but Our Advertisement on Angies List does not say that the job will be scheduled or complete within 48 hours, for this reason, your comment is not True. The reason that why We hang up the phone when answered, is because sometimes we don't have service, so we don't know if the the person on the other line can hear us or not. All the calls that we get, we give the Client the option for Us to go theyr house within the next day, and the job always gets started within 2 weeks, and we also still getting people on the Schedule for this year still.

It went very well. I was very pleased with the quality of their work and their flexibility. We had to have a subtle design change because the counter top that was installed by a different company had a mistake on it and the tilers had to adjust. They did a great job but the only complaint I had with them is that they are not really good at communicating, they definitely have some language barriers. I've rented several tools for the downstairs bathroom floor prior to their coming to try to level the floor and sand and have it be adequately prepared because they are very specific about the terms of their offer. Then they just kind of came in here and said, its not level and they charged me an extra 400 dollars. If they had come and looked at the job before hand! Jerry was amazing but the other guy wasn't. They need to work on their customer service skills. when we run into that first problem with the gap in the wall, the guy was like, 'just call up Angie's List and get your money back.' He then said he was going to send another guy who was good at fixing problems and when he showed up, he said they'd make it work. They didn't charge me more for he kitchen job but if the other guy was involved, he absolutely would have. It was small pieces of tile set on a 12 by 12 mesh. We just had tile done in a different area by someone else that you guys recommended and the same exact situation with the concrete under layer and residual stuff on it. We put the tile up ourselves and they used like a thicker layer. Now that I think about it, J&J really ripped me off. They were great in my kitchen backslash but for the bathroom, it was pretty absurd, Its a small bathroom, like 5 by 7.

The did a good job--they fixed a nasty problem at a reasonable price. The previous owner's fix had failed to run a pipe from the shower floor to the drain pipe so water had been seeping under the shower floor tiles, causing some rot. Original construction had put wall tiles on the floor, to make matters worse! The shower they made was beautiful and included a helpful niche. They made recommendations for glass installers but are not contractors so they did not arrange the glass, and I had to put the door on the other side, which was a bit annoying, as well as find my own glass door, half wall, hook provider. I do wish they had clarified from the start that the door would open the other way & offered to discuss options to avoid this. But it all worked out fine. Also they use some relatives who are not so conscientious or careful as the older principals, 1 damaged the tub, which required me to get it resurfaced. They did pitch in for that cost and it does look better I think with the updated color, although the care of the resurfacing requires is annoying. Rather than show me the damage up front they tried to convince me first I might really want a new tub & sent me frantically searching for one with only one day to get it. When I decided I did not want to do this, they revealed the damage that had occurred. (It had been covered by a cloth) I'm sure they figured it was an atypical mistake & if i decided I wanted a new tub it wouldn't be necessary to admit to it, but it was annoying. To protect the tub's surface, use of plywood while removing tile & working above it would have been a better strategy. I was also surprised that one side of the halfwall at the other end of the bathtub from the halfwall between tub & shower had not been rebuilt after they chose to remove the top marble piece & was in bad condition when i did the final inspection. this should have been pointed out when it occurred & discussed then, or better, when they changed the plan to put tile up the sides of the half walls & decided to instead put a sheet of marble, discussed this with me then. They agreed to slather some plaster in there to fill it out so i could paint (which they also don't do) but I would have preferred a strong structure being built before the tiling on the other side, or better, discussing benefits of tiling both sides to make sure it's firm. They also had a non-English speaking man cutting tile, and he repeatedly failed to watch the doors to prevent the cat getting out. Fortunately it did not get out. And he worked in the garage, when I offered, due to rain. He should have worked outside as they left a thick layer of tile dust all over everything stored in the garage inc. the overhead platform. I would have appreciated being warned about this, since I am not a contractor & don't know such things could happen, but presumably they would know this. I think this is just the price you pay when you save some bucks by dealing directly with the crafts people & don't have a contractor, however. I love the work they did & they were conscientious & got it done without any significant delays. About 2 weeks start to finish (longer if you include the custom glass & painting I did later). None of the nightmares you hear about guys starting then stopping in the middle to go do some other job! Just make sure to have good communication with them & ask questions & these guys will do go work. I really love my bathroom!

The whole process went great. Quality work , punctual and clean. I couldn't be more happy with the tile job. I used them two years ago to do a marble bathroom floor as well. Jay the owner is great to work with and I am very happy with the newly tiled shower and backsplash. It looks fantastic. I decided I liked the wall done where the vanity is so much I had them come back and do the entire bathroom. Juan came this time adn did a fantastic first rate job. I couldn't be happier. Great work !
Description of Work: J & J re-tiled my whole shower areas including built ins in marble. They also did my backsplash as well as the whole wall ...I like it so much I'm going to have the whole room done. Update Juan came and did a fantastic job and tiled the rest of the bathroom walls.

Purchased as an Angie's List deal. The company messaged me promptly indicating when they would call. The called when they said they would, and to my surprise were able to come out at very short notice to actually perform the work. The work was done on schedule with no fuss, and finished nicely. The installer took the time to make detailed and tight tile cuts around my wood moulding which adds a lot to the aesthetic. Also, he was able to deal with my rough wall surface (from a previously glued-on cover panel) well so that the tiles came out at near-perfect evenness. After the grouting was done, there was almost no haze left on the tile, he had cleaned it off very well. Even the next day there was practically nothing for me to wipe off. All in all this was a very pleasant experience at a good price - very happy with the result.

J reviewed our condo construction rules one of which was to name our condo as "additionally insured and as "policy holder" My understanding is that this type of request is SOP. Days four and three before the project J informed me that according to his insurance co., the information was sent to our condo office. The condo office however had not received the information. On 9/23 J informed me via email the project would cost an additional $100 to comply with insurance required by the condo association. I agreed to pay this. Sept. 24th, the day of the project his son was ready to begin the work at 8:00am as planned; however he did not have the insurance certificate, so the work was delayed. He notified J who planned to call the insurance co. when it opened at 10:00am. At 2:15 pm, after calling and emailing to determine the plan, I received an email from J stating J and J would be unable to do the work as the insurance company now wanted $1200 ($100 per month x 12) to comply with the Condo Construction Rules. BTW I had packed up all kitchen dishes etc in preparation for the work, no small job. J was very prompt with returning phone calls, before 9/24, and was courteous. I did not appreciate the fact that I was informed the insurance information was sent when it was not; only to learn in the end the insurance company requesting $1200, for something that is standard operating procedure. J and J Flooring will not be doing work in my home, now or in the future. Throughout our communication I was respectful and courteous. Re Band of Neighbors I am uncertain re this as I wish to inform others but I am moving on.
Description of Work: Provider agreed to remove current backsplash and apply new b/s on 9/24/15. I purchased the tile: and grout as he had requested. The price above was for removing the current backsplash and applying the new. I was informed on the afternoon of 9/24, via email, J and J would be unable to perform the job. Please read below.

Hi [member name removed], We apologize for this problem, has been a lack of understanding between our insurance agent and our insurer, first they told us it would cost one hundred US dollars to send the insurance police the next day we were informed that it would cost one hundred US dollars a month for a year, 1,200.00 total we thought it good then cancel the job because at the end of all we would have to pay to do the job. We would like to thank you for reporting this problem to Angie's List, We will be sending a copy of this report to our insurance company so that we do not have more of these kind of problem in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience once again.

This is a 2 day process: day 1 - placing the tile, day 2 - adding grout. On the first day Juan came to install the backsplash tiles. Juan was punctual and professional. He clearly knew what he was doing and was detailed at installing the backsplash. Juan was very clean...took his shoes off without being asked and placed a sheet on the carpet and flooring where he had to walk constantly since he had to go outside on my patio to cut the tiles. Juan also covered the countertops and kitchen floor and added placeholders in the tile to keep them aligned and straight. Juan swept the kitchen and wiped the countertops before he left and my kitchen was cleaner than it was before he arrived. On the second day, the grout is applied and a different company representative came. He was 30 minutes late and there was no phone call or email alerting me. Unlike Juan, he did not remove his shoes or even cover the kitchen countertops or floors. He mixed the grout on the kitchen floor and there were splashes of the grout mixture pretty much all over the kitchen including our refrigerator, cabinets, floor, dishwasher, etc. In one location the tiles are

J & J Floors did an excellent job of removing the old floors and installing the new tiles. Our old kitchen floor was an ugly vinyl that was worn out. Our old bathroom floor was ugly pink tile. They replaced both with quality porcelain tiles. Everything from the demolition of the old floors to installation of the new tiles went smoothly. Jay is very responsive to phone and email. He answered all my questions promptly and his crew worked tirelessly to finish. I will use their services again.

This was a three day process. Day 1 to prep the walls (about 75 minutes), day 2 to install the back splash (about 7 hours) and day three to grout (about 4 hours). I don't remember the name of the gentleman who prepped the walls. Matt installed the back splash and grout. Both gentlemen were very polite and professional. The first gentleman took his shoes off just inside my front door and did the work in his socks to keep my floor clean. Matt was very meticulous and detailed in his work. He seemed to take pride in his work which is not always the case with tradesmen I have hired; it was a refreshing change. Jay was pleasant to speak to on the phone and scheduled my job very quickly once I purchased the deal. He also was very understanding and accommodating with some special circumstances I had. I would highly recommend J&J Flooring and would certainly use them again if needed.

Jay and his crew were excellent! They were punctual (working around the blizzard), professional, and neat (cleaning up after themselves every day and completely at the end of the job). They did everything promised for the price quoted (no hidden costs). In fact, they even built a shower niche free of charge because it was not in the original quote. The work itself was quite well done. I highly recommend J&J Flooring!

I really appreciated them. They're very prompt and quick on the phone, answered all my questions right away, but then I had a little bit of difficulty scheduling them. I actually had two jobs for them, one was for an upstairs unit, and the other ones for the downstairs unit. They started on the upstairs unit and they did a great job on the floor itself, but scheduling them was very difficult. I kept on getting the run around. Finally the guy asked for payment for the second floor bathroom which I gave to him. After that I never heard from him again even after repeatedly trying to contact him. I had already bought all the tiles, grout and vanity for the first floor but was not able to have it installed. Additionally and more importantly, this review was taken over the phone and transcribed. As a result of that, Jay the owner threatened to sue me over a very slight miscommunication about the job being halfway done. Jay only did half the work I asked him to do and that he quoted me for. While he didn't leave a floor half finished, he only finished one of the two bathrooms and I only paid him for what he finished.

To sum it up... it went AMAZING! My wife had picked out the tiles already and we had purchased them from a local tile store in our town. Originally they were suppose to install the tiles, however, they were having a hard time fitting us in the schedule. My wife was also pregnant with twins at the time, and the delays from the original installers was not going to work, so we canceled with them and called a few people out to to provide estimates. Jay was able to make it out to perform the quote THE NEXT DAY after I spoke with him. In addition to taking measurements, offering suggestions, and providing some details on how the process would proceed, he also took a look at the tiles and asked a lot of detailed questions. I explained to him my predicament and the urgency (i.e. ASAP install) in getting the work done before my wife went in to labor. Jay had a quote out to me over email the next day, and his price was the most competitive! Jay worked his schedule and was able to accommodate an installation less than two weeks later. His communication was outstanding, both over email as well as over the phone going up to the first day of install. He included reminders on prep work that needed to be completed (I was running 'GC' on the bathroom renovation) so there were no surprises. After each day he would send an email with scheduling update for both arrival date and time for the next visit. As it turned out he was on site Monday, and after three full days in a row, the work was completed at the end of the day Wednesday. Jay and his helper were extremely clean (I had a brand new Kohler tub mounted already), careful and tedious. I would stop home at lunch and Jay was happy to show progress and answer any questions. He was also very conscious of my 2 year old son and pregnant wife as it related to paint and mortar fumes - he closed door to bathroom whenever possible and used a window fan to pull out the air. When all is said and done, everything came out wonderful and I am extremely happy. I included pictures, but excuse the quality as they were taken from my phone's camera.
Description of Work: Jay installed floor tile in our bathroom as well as tiled three walls above and surrounding our new acrylic bathtub. In addition, one of the walls next to the tub was not level, and as a result the tiles would not have lined up flush with the extension of the wall, so Jay cleaned up and leveled the wall using some form of joint compound.

Jay responded very quickly to my inquiry and was able to come to my home a few days later to take measurements for the job. He emailed me the estimate early the next morning. I was very pleased with this responsiveness. I was not pleased, however, that he was over 30 minutes late to our initial meeting with no phone call, notice, etc. We were meeting at 5:00pm so I had to leave work early to get there in time. I did not have his phone number, but I did try to email him to confirm if he was still planning to come. More than anything I was just annoyed that I rushed home just to sit around and wait. I could have run some errands that I needed to do, start cooking dinner, etc. however I did not know if/when he was ever going to show. A simple phone call would have gone a long way. I live by the following mantra and want to associate with providers who feel the same: "Early is on time, on time is late, and late is never acceptable."
Description of Work: Jay provided an estimate to replace backsplash tile in my kitchen. His pricing was fair compared to other providers, however it was still more than we wanted to spend. We did not move forward with this project with Jay or any other provider.

I had a kitchen glass tile back splash installed in South Boston by JJ. Jerry was great and did a perfect job installing the back splash. He showed up at 7am was very professional, kind, and cleaned up after the job. I would recommend them to others. Very reliable.
