Description of Work: I purchased a deal for tiling our kitchen backsplash. During email communication to arrange the project, they informed me that they do not install tiles purchased from Home Depot or Lowes. I was instructed to purchase tiles from a private tile shop. I purchased somewhat expensive rectangular glass and ceramic tiles. They ended up costing us more than originally expected. When J & J arrived at my home on the scheduled day, they took one look at our kitchen wall and one look at the tiles we had picked out and said that the job was too complicated. They said it would be too difficult to remove our old tiles and patch the wall, and the tiles we had picked out were too difficult to install. They only had one guy assigned to the tiling job and he did not speak English. So we had to cancel the entire job, have a refund issued, and go with a company that we found outside Angie's List. Had we known this company's limitations, we never would have contacted them in the first place. It was not clear from their Angie's List description that they only do very basic tiling jobs.

Description of Work: I received about 4 quotes from Angie's list. J & J Flooring was the cheapest, and since they had great ratings I booked them. My kitchen floor had broken tiles and needed replacing. After they pulled up the old tiles, they realized the tiles were breaking because my studs were too far apart. To fix the problem, they installed a sub-floor. The tiles look great and feel very sturdy now. I would definitely use J & J Flooring again for additional tile projects.

I can't say enough good things...competitive pricing, honest, meticulous in the work and clean up, always on time very honest. You won't be sorry should you hire them.

Description of Work: We didnt hire Jay for this particular job but i just wanted to say that he was very fair in his price and on time for the estimate. I would hire him when something else comes up.

Description of Work: Jackie refinished wood flooring throughout our house, fixed places that needed repairs and installed oak floors in 2 rooms and a bath. They did a great job, were very efficient and professional, were reasonably priced and the work has lasted over 10 years. I recently called for another estimate on a new place...and would use him again in a heartbeat.

Description of Work: Jay installed a custom-cut slate floor on one full floor and the bathrooms as well as stonework on fireplace surround and shower enclosure. He also installed custom slate counters in kitchen and bathrooms. All work was very finely done. He made several suggestions on installation which improved layout. All visits were in time and and as quoted. We are thrilled with the work provided. Would unconditionally recommend Jay for similar work and will employ again when the need arises.

Description of Work: THIS COMPANY DOES TILE WORK. THEY DID A GREAT JOB INSTALLING TILES ON TWO DIFFERENT PROJECTS OF MINE. IN THE FIRST, THEY (J&J) INSTALLED TILES IN 2 BATHROOMS AND A KITCHEN. IN THE SECOND THEY INSTALLED TILES ON MY KITCHEN FLOOR. THEY DO EXCELLENT, CLEAN WORK. THEY ALSO HAVE A GOOD AESTHETIC SENSE AND THEREFORE GOOD IDEAS FOR TILE SIZE AND LAYOUT. A NEIGHBOR TOLD ME ''THE BATHROOMS WERE TO DIE FOR''.
