1st Choice Home Improvements

We had a number of companies come out and provide quotes on a new entry and storm door. There was a wide range in the price range. Although 1st Choice was in the higher end of the range, we went with the company after meeting with them because of the their knowledge and professionalism. It gave us comfort before the job even started. This comfort continued throughout the project and we were completely satisfied with the quality and outcome. We would gladly work with them again.

I received the quote when they stated that they were going to send it out. It ended up coming down to them and three other people that I received quotes from and I chose another company, but I did feel that he was knowledgeable and professional. He explained to me how he was going to work with the town to work out the permits and all that kind of stuff. If the need arises I would call him back and have him come take a look at some stuff.

They showed up on time and did a great job. They were very easy to work with and I will call them again if I need anything else done.

Rich and Paul (along with their coworker Chris) were great to work with during this den renovation project and did a great job. They were responsive right from the get go. They responded quickly to my call and made visit to provide an estimate. They provided helpful suggestions for the renovation project. The start date was as promised along with timely completion. Rich and Paul were easy to communicate with and responded to all calls and emails. They kept us updated on progress of project. Paul was very diligent on all aspects of the renovation and responded to any concerns we had. They cleaned up the work area at the end of the day. Their subcontractors appear to be responsible individuals that showed up as scheduled and completed their tasks in timely manner. We are very pleased with the final product.

This was a more complicated project than I thought as the wall to be removed was a supporting wall. Paul from 1st Choice approached the project in a very professional manner, discussed with me the options & ideas of how to provide support in the attic. He called in a structural engineer to get his opinion and a decision was made to install 2 24-ft LVL support beams in the attic. He also called in an electrician to discuss the modifications needed to the electrical wiring. Once I made the decision to hire 1st choice, Paul obtained the building permits from the city of Attleboro and managed the project in an extremely organized & efficient manner. In 4 days, the wall had been removed, the LVL beams installed in the attic, the electrical wiring had been modified, blue board was installed where appropriate in the ceiling and walls, a skim coat of plaster was applied to the ceiling and walls. In addition, one ceiling fan was removed and realigned with the other ceiling fan in the new room. Then the old carpeting was removed and I was left with a beautiful new room ready for painting and new carpeting.

The owner of the company Paul Nee was a really reliable contractor .The work was completed beyond our expection since he was able to repair other major damages that we were not even aware of .The pricing for teh entire job was really good and he worked well withus as we received funding from the insurance .

We had leaky windows in our sunroom. They came out promptly for an estimate when I called. They did a great job on the installation and were very professional.

We got a quote from another company too and ended up using them. For the work they were quoting, it was a good quote but we felt that the work they were suggesting was not necessary. We wanted to replace windows and they were talking about re-doing the entire framing. We had a couple of other people to get second opinions and they asked us only to replace the windows. So we did not need that extra service as it was unnecessary.

They provided me with a detailed quote.

I absolutely couldn't be happier. The results are exactly what I had envisioned and enhance the value of my house. I could always reach Paul by phone and email and we spoke every day of the project. He shared ideas on the finishing work for trims with me so I could decide what I'd like. He moved the project along as quickly as could possibly be done and within the 3 week time-frame that he originally committed. We had one little glitch on a bathroom ceiling fixture and he responded immediately to correct the situation. His team of workers always cleaned up the work areas each day and were always polite and respectful. The quality of the project is terrific and the price was competitive to the other bids I received and I received an Angie's List member discount. I'd highly recommend 1st Choice for other projects and would certainly use them again.

We are very pleased with the work they did in our home. We found Paul to be prompt in responding to us and very professional throughout the entire process. The price we paid seemed reasonable given other quotes we received and how much the particular french doors cost that we had installed. We are so pleased with the quality of their work that we have asked them to do some additional projects in our home.

My wife and I bought our home a little over a year ago. We had fallen in love with the home, and the finished basement in particular. After living in the space for a little bit we realized that the work done in the finished basement was done poorly and needed to be fixed. As first time homeowners neither my wife and I and any experience with contractors. I can't stress enough how thankful we are that we chose 1st Choice Home Improvement. We originally had bigger plans but due to budget reasons we had to put some of project aside to get the important parts done first. Paul worked with us through several proposals, making sure he could get our must haves done in a budget we were comfortable with. He stressed over and over that he wanted to walk away from the job as happy as we were, and he achieved that goal. Paul was also very good about following up in a timely manner and keeping us up to date on where they were on the project. All the work was done extremely well and we were done in less than 2 weeks. Even a major snowstorm in the area didn't cause a major delay. Paul kept in almost daily contact with us and patiently answered all of our questions professionally and kindly. The subcontractors all worked within time and budget, and the team left our home practically cleaner than when they arrived. We still have some more work to complete in the basement but we are definitely going to have 1st Choice return when we are ready to start that work.

To be honest, I don't think he wanted the job. His quote was way too high.

I closed 04/06/2012 on a single family, 1925 Colonial. My FHA budget for this project was $96,000.00. It was my good fortune to have chosen 1st Choice Home Improvement Associates. I contacted Rich Russell after my first showing to get an idea of costs to bring the home up to code before making an offer. He was very easy to talk to on the phone, understood what I needed and set up an appointment to meet. Rich, my broker and I walked through the house making note of code repairs and my 'wish list' of upgrades. Rich offered suggestions and ideas; answered my questions as well as provided answers to some I forgot to ask. He prepared a written estimate for me that was most valuable in negotiating the sale price. While in negotiations for the house, a short sale which span 9 months, I was in contact with Rich for cost estimate updates. Rich would always get back to me in a timely manner and with the information I needed. Rich worked with my FHA inspector, David Money, to get the most from my budget. After closing on the home April 6th, 2012, I contacted Rich regarding changing the locks. He gave me his partner, Paul Nee's phone number. Paul was just a pleasant and helpful as Rich. Paul met me at the house the next day, changed the locks and made himself available to me for the duration of the project. Within 30 days of closing my new roof and chimney work had begun; a new gas boiler installed. My sun room, which was badly water damaged from ceiling to floor, was remodeled into a laundry room/mud room with 4 new windows, new rubber roof and radiator. The attic and second floor was carpeted. The natural hardwood floors and stair case was refinished - beautiful! The kitchen and baths were demolished and renovated. All interior doors on the second floor were replaced; kitchen and bathroom floors were tiled. The entire home was rewired; knob and tube wiring removed; quite a bit of plumbing work was done. Interior and exterior handrails were installed. Wanting to buy the best cabinetry and flooring I could find within budget, I asked Rich for suggestions and was very pleased I had asked. The professionals hired by Rich and Paul were craftsman; cleaned up after themselves; a special thank you to Owen, the plumber. The items I had no hand in selecting such as light fixtures, toilets, faucets, etc. Paul chose for me. He took note of my taste, style and I am very pleased with his selections. Rich and Paul were most accommodating. I had to leave my apartment just ahead of a new lease June 1st and explained that to Rich in April. He and Paul were able to have enough work completed so that I could move in May 30th and live in the house during renovations; just sealed off sections at a time and set up a temporary kitchen in the dining room. Paul loaned me a counter top. They made it easy for me to move my belongs around for each phase by placing a storage unit in my backyard. I know they juggled a number of projects at once; some of the work on my home turned out to be more involved than originally thought, however, Paul and Rich finished on time. I never worried they would not; consummate professionals all the way and I received great value for my money. For many years I have been an avid fan of home improvement shows; looking forward to remodeling a home of my own. It was exciting for me to come home and discover the work had moved on to a new phase; closer to completion. I highly recommend 1st Choice Home Improvement Associates; have shared my experience with friends, family and colleagues and look to doing business with them again in the future. From beginning to end, the quality of workmanship and responsiveness of Rich and Paul and their team were excellent. I was pretty confident when I went to them for this project, because they did a great job a year or so ago renovating my upstairs bath. At every turn, we discussed possibilities for placement of components, decisions about type and style of tub, sink, toilet, lighting. I think their greatest strength is communication, backed up by a very skilled team of subcontractors. The bathroom is beautiful, and the arrangement of the rest of the downstairs storage area works. They really didn't have to give me a hand with shelf units and such, but they were happy to do so. They are really nice guys too. A pleasure to work with.

Excellent. Paul spent the time required to review the property with us. He told us that they do not provide detailed estimates for these situations, but agreed to provide a rough estimate so we could better understand what we would be getting into. He viewed each room and listened to our concerns and ideas. He was patient, informative, and went above an beyond what was required. We received a rough estimate that evening. While I cannot comment on the quality of the work, not can I compare their prices to those of other renovators at this point, my wife and I had a positive first experience. Today we negotiated a final selling price. We are one step closer to owning the home and I anticipate a call to 1st Choice in the future.

We had gotten other windows quotes and really liked Paul's approach. He came in and showed us his windows and took all the measurements. Very personable. He then left to do his research and emailed us the quotes a few days later. It was very relaxed. The crew came and installed all the windows in two days. The doors also took two days. One of the doors had extensive rot underneath it and they cleared it all out and replaced the wood. There were some minor issues that came up but all were easily resolved, such as 1 of the windows had a broken part, once they were completed Paul came by and replaced the part.

Prompt response for estimate, helpful suggestions for the project, communication via computer, very professional, scheduled and showed up when said, polite while working, cleaned up after selves, no added on costs.

.This was my first experience with a remodel and Angie's list steered me to the right contactor. I have nothing but respect for Paul and his crew. They were always on time and always working when they were here. Paul was able to give me names of different businesses to get the cabinets and granite counter tops from. I had good experiences with these vendors. I was free to choose whoever I wanted but went with Paul's suggestions and I have no regrets. This was an excellent remodel, and it looks beautiful too! I am so happy with them that I am having them redo my living room in a few weeks.

We made an appointment with Rich for an estimate on work to be done. He was punctual, knowledgeable and professional. We were impressed with the time he took to talk to us about a number of other jobs we will be scheduling in the future. We felt he was committed and would be a great contractor. Thanks to Angies List, for the first time ever, we had to select from a few great choices and are now working with another company but I was glad to meet Rich.

Paul did a great job and was always available to answer questions and work with our schedules. I will use them again.

They were very professional and was the most fair estimate that I got. He actually sat there and spent time with me working out details before an official estimate.

Having grown up in the industry you can't find someone more cynical person than I am! But Rich and Paul could not have been better. It is comforting to know that there are contractors out there who really care about the customer and take pride in their work. We ran into some challenges when it came to permitting and what we had originally wanted for stairs but we worked together to find a resolution. The deck is better than what we started with!My neighbors watched as the construction was going on and they told me on a daily basis how impressed they were with the crew. We had a week of drenching rain and they did everything they could to accommodate. Overall I would recommend 1st Choice without hesitation. We have more work in the future and would not think twice about having them come back.

. 1st Choice Improvement Assoc. were professional from the estimate to the final product. Meeting with Rich for estimate was puntual and professional.The carpenters Frank and Mike were on time each day and very professional. They worked as an efficient team. All debris was cleaned up, safety precautions were observed and the work was performed like it was their own house. We highly recommend 1st Choice for any job large and small.
