Description of Work: Gerry did an fantastic job on our new bathroom. We gutted the bathroom to the studs and in addition, we were transforming the flat roof dormer into a gable style one with a skylight that had to blend with two separate roof lines. Gerry and all of his plumbers and electricians that he works with were very knowledgeable and detail oriented and were able to transform our bathroom into exactly what I wanted. He was also easy to communicate with and was adaptable when some parts of the project had to be changed based on various issues we may have encountered. Overall, I would recommend Gerry and use him again for future projects.

Description of Work: Gerald was the main contractor in a small remodel. His work was good but he had little control over the subcontractors -- one was great but another did a very sloppy job. Every time I look at the crooked wall i think of his subcontractors and the ding in the floor I think of Gerald. When I win the lottery I will get the work redone / repaired.

Description of Work: We received a quote from Gerry for a number of things we needed to have done. The price was more than we could afford so he came back and we winnowed the quote down to the things that we could afford. He and his crew showed up today. They were very professional and pleasant. He arrived with a bigger crew than I expected, but all were efficient and friendly. And on time. Our house was built in 1850 and in need of several things, but he installed a bookcase, reworked a closet in a far more efficient (usable) manner than I expected, and left no detail unattended to. For instance, he put the TV into the new cabinet, made sure the cable and electric could be pulled to it, and hooked everything up to be certain it worked. The clean up was very thorough. He took care of another few minor things but nothing was too minor to be done in haste and completed them all. He takes great pride in his work and delivers. He may not be the cheapest, but you can take comfort in the fact that the work will be done right and he will make the extra effort to make sure you are pleased.

+ 1 moreWe invited Gerry to our home in April to give us an estimate for some repairs on the lower level of our home due to significant ice dam damage. We also asked for custom built in bookshelves to be added during the repairs. Gerry was prompt in looking into our project and submitted a fair proposal. He and his team started work in Mid-may. They are still performing the work, but it is nearing completion any day now. They are a very busy group - which I think speaks volumes about their work and business. Gerry, Billy and the rest of the team have done an outstanding job on our home. The work is beautiful and we couldn't be happier. Aside from the great quality of their work, Gerry's character (and that of his crew) is quite commendable. We've had an absurd amount of contractors in and out of home over the last 6 months, and Gerry is BY FAR the most professional, dependable, honest, and personable of all we have encountered. He listens, is extremely responsive, always available and fair. He points out issues and does not try to work around them or "hide" them, which we have seen others do. I feel as though we've built a very solid relationship and can count on him without a doubt. Experience has taught us that this level of dependability and professionalism is quite an anomoly these days. I think we're done with work on our home for a while, but when it comes time to remodel our kitchen and/or bath (the next two on the docket), Gerry is going to be the first person we call. It has been a true pleasure working with him and we look forward to working with him again.
Description of Work: Due to significant ice dam damage this winter, we had to rip the walls out in the lower level of our home and replace our exterior entry door. Gerry and his crew hung sheetrock, plastered the walls, trimmed the space with moulding and built a beautiful custom built in bookcase in the renovated space.

+ 1 moreGerry Horne is very easy to work with and very professional. His priority is customer satisfaction. In spite of snowy weather and jury duty, he kept the job going and finished in good time. His plumbing and electrical subs are very competent also.
Description of Work: I hired Gerry Horne to demolish a 60 year old bathroom in order to update and improve the plumbing and the electrical systems and the bathtub. The existing 6'-7" ceiling was raised to a sloped ceiling w/ skylight. The tile was removed from the walls, new insulation was installed and a new blueboard with a plaster finish applied. I planned to reuse the existing sink and toilet. A new tub/surround was installed as well as new exhaust fan and lighting. I also replaced the existing single glazed window sash w/ a double glazed unit. Gerry also installed a new marble tile floor.

+ 0 moreGerry and Bill arrived when they said they would. They cut most of the pieces for the cabinets and left them for us to stain (that was our request). When the doors were finished, they put everything together and we finished staining everything. Gerry remodeled much of our 1895 home to update it, so we were very familiar with his work. Like many other contractors, he usually has another job going at the same time, so the finish timeline is usually a few weeks later than he tells you, unless it is a 1-2 day job. All the same, he is very willing to accomodate your requests and is very easy to get along with. It helps if you have a good idea of what you want, or can draw something for him. He can also provide you with sketches based on what you've told him to see if you are both on the same page. It also helps to make sure that everything you want is written down, either by you or by Gerry. The cabinets came out beautifully. We will use Gerry and Bill again as they are both very honest and ethical and they do great work.
Description of Work: Gerry and his assistant, Bill, built cabinets in our laundry room for storage and to hide the washer/dryer, as this is also a half bath.

+ 6 moreOverall I have to say that Gerry is great. I still call him to stop by and look at the basement or to hang up the new mirror I just bought. He is the only contractor that I know that would call me at 7:00 on a rainy Friday night and say make sure you check that window on the second floor to make sure it isn't leaking. His work is never done and he will be there until it is done. I was recommended to use Gerry by my parents as he re-did the majority of their house so I have known Gerry for some time. He is extremely skilled and can basically do anything. I would use him again, as right now he is replacing my garage.
Description of Work: Gerry renovated my grandmothers house after I bought it. The house was built in 1942 and there were not many upgrades made to this property since it was originally built. He built me a state of the art kitchen, with new windows, new french doors, as well as replaced much of the siding on the first floor as it was all damaged by termites. My brothers did the majority of the demolition with the help of Gerry. He showed us what to touch and what not to touch. He also built me a brand new bathroom, moving the walls over and not changing at all the integrity of the house as it is a center entrance colonial. He was hugely valuable in organizing the other tradesman who came to work on my house, and I found out very quickly that he only uses the best. When we moved the renovation into the basement we realized that that had also been damaged by termites, and Gerry took that in stride. He replaced the support beams in the basement which were in rough shape. He also replaced all of the doors and windows in the basement. After all of that was done, he then built me a walk off deck that was used as a landing for my french doors. He exceeded my expectations in the deck, as I was unsure if I wanted one at all.

+ 0 moreIt went very well overall. Custom work takes time, and I was a bit impatient, but Gerry was responsive to my desire for speed and kept me posted as to hoe work was progressing. He even came on a Saturday morning to install one of the covers, as that was more convenient for my schedule.
Description of Work: I had Gerry custom design two radiator covers for my apartment, which, as the building is very old, required a lot of custom measurement and attention to detail in his part. He was sensitive to my concerns about speed given my rapidly growing infant, and designed and finished two very attractive covers that matched the decor and furniture finishes of each room. Each cover cost just under $1000.00. Not cheap, but given that I needed entirely custom work as well as his skills with design and safety, I found his price quite reasonable overall. He was a pleasure to deal with and I will sue him again if I have any other custom carpentry needs.
