They advertise servicing all of New England, but although they are located in Quincy, they do not service Arlington. They should be more specific about the locations they service.

They were OK. They were a little expensive.

The provider came out in two days (I said it was not an emergency). The technician was very professional and pleasant. HE checked everything and did a thorough job.

My two story condo had no central A/C, and no window unit fit in the attic bedroom, which is stifling all spring and summer. The window unit in living room was extremely loud, and the portable unit in the attic did not help at all. After exploring options for energy efficient and effective cooling systems (Consumer Reports, Dept of Energy, etc.), I decided to go with a ductless system--a unit in the attic bedroom and another in the living/dining area. I spoke with four vendors. Everyone at Coastal was completely professional and amiable throughout the process. The owner came as scheduled to work up an estimate; my phone calls were quickly returned; the team arrived on time and finished on time and provided all work as described in the contract. In addition, the men explained to me how the system would work and left the rooms clean--you never would have known they had drilled holes through the walls. The only drawback was that they were booked solid for a month, so it took a while to schedule a date. All the vendors offered Mitsubishi units and were diamond dealers. However, Coastal bid a substantially lower price (18 to 20%) than the other vendors. It was also the only company that said it could install the living/dining room unit where I wanted it. And they are the only ones who noted I could get rebates for them. I would definitely use them again if I decide to add bedroom units. The units themselves cool very well and are extremely quiet.

It didn't go well at all, and we were very disappointed with the service. The technician only spent a few minutes looking over the unit and recommended that we have a venting system installed which would have to be done by another company at a cost of nearly $1000. However, this was an inaccurate diagnosis because the unit still wasn't passing inspection, and another firm correctly diagnosed that the the unit had a leak. Furthermore, I spoke to the lady in the office, and she simply defended the technician's work instead of trying to work with me on resolving the issue. Ultimately, we paid nearly $1000 for an unnecessary service due to Coastal Heating and Air Conditioning's incorrect diagnosis.

These guys are awesome. Very friendly, great prices, great service and turnaround. I reached out to them in the morning about my A/C not running cold enough, they were able to come out around noon. Told them I found them on here and the very nice lady told me to go online ahead of the appointment and buy their service special which would save me money. Alex came out, knew exactly what was wrong and fixed it. He was very friendly and answered a number of my questions about various things.

Tune-up on the 1st unit was completed quickly (and they re-attached my thermostat to the wall, which was a help). The two employees then identified the problem with my 2nd AC unit almost immediately. They were able to provide a short-term workaround so that my AC would function for the upcoming hot days. An estimate for the remaining work is being generated. All in all I am very happy with the speed and quality of service. I gave a B for punctuality because they were late, but a representative from the company called to let me know that they were still on their way and to confirm that the timing was still ok despite the delay - this was appreciated since it was a friday and I was preparing to head out of town. I would recommend Coastal and plan to use them again.

Angie's List was great and the person who represented Coastal Heating was very nice and helpful about how to get a refund. No complaints.

The system which is only 4 years old was installed badly and they corrected all of the "shortcuts" and the system is now up and running as it should have been right along. I recommend them highly! Professional, friendly, punctual and sincerely interested in helping.

I called them at 2:09, they came from Quincy to Boston and completed the repairs by 3:19 - an hour and ten minutes! When scheduling the visit, they told me how to go online and save $30 on the service call too! All I needed was a little part, thank goodness. Great service. Really nice people.

The company representative seemed annoyed that I wanted a unit installed in the attic and not individual units installed through the walls of the home. When I explained that I didn't like the aesthetics of the wall units he kept pushing them. Said he was going to email me an estimate and never did. (I watched him write down the email address and yes it was correct.) A few weeks later someone called and asked if I ever received the estimate and all I said was that I wasn't interested in the services they provide.

When my 20-year old heat pump finally kicked the bucket last summer, Coastal Heating and Air Conditioning was the first place I contacted. They were quick to respond and sent someone to come to my house within a couple of days. I was a little wary of the the $100 commitment just for the estimate (that amount did count toward the final cost of the project), but it ended up being worth it. After getting quotes from 2 other places, I decided on Coastal because they had the Carrier system I wanted and the price was decent. The actual day of the installation went on without any issues. The two men who replaced my system were punctual and very pleasant. I'm happy with the service provided and the heat pump.

Arrived on time, helpful, courteous, professional, trustworthy. Installation crew efficient, professional, cleaned up. Sent out electrician to verify amps after I raised specific questions AFTER initial estimate.

Fantastic experience with some great people! The service call was scheduled for the day and time window I needed. Unlike other vendors I called, Coastal did not tell me they were too busy with their existing customers to schedule in a new customer service call. They did it without hesitation. I even got a confirmation call the night before. The tech was prompt, thorough and professional. He explained what he tested on the AC system, then left me a detailed written report. I also received a follow up email asking how the service was. Now I know who to call if I need a repair.

Alex came and checked out our AC system, identified and fixed a major problem (a huge leak!), changed the filters and balanced the system. It's working SO much better now! He was super nice, explained everything, and offered really useful suggestions. Showed up RIGHT on time. Could not have asked for better service! A great deal.

Coastal Air was great! We had them come out last year to tune up our HVAC system and worked with one of their employees who was wonderful, punctual, and did a great job. We ended up having them come out again this year, and had the same employee service our system. He was, again, wonderful, punctual, and did a great job. We will continue to use Coastal Air to service our HVAC system.

We recently finished one of those "renovations from h***," so we were very concerned about schedule and professionalism. We received 3 quotes. Coastal came up with the best solution to how to relocate unit in the attic and how to move the ductwork out of the way, they showed up on time, and completed the job faster than expected (one day staying late vs. 3 days). I also want to mention that their price was a bit higher than other competitors' quotes, but Coastal takes care of the people that work for them and that's an overhead that most companies don't have. How did that benefit us? ALL their workers were happy to be doing their job and all their schedules are managed by to Michael (and Sunny). This is one of the problems we have found with other contractors- there's a lot of finger pointing and a lack of ownership on the part of the sub-contracotrs. Not with Coastal- everyone is working with the same goal and on the same page. It's rare that a homeowner finds no fault with a contractor, but I can be counted amongst them. Seriously. I'm even surprised. It's given me hope that there might be other's out there! (thanks to Angies List)

I called them that morning and fifteen minutes later, the service tech was here. I thought that they are very responsive. The guy is very professional, very courteous, and he knows what he is doing and fifteen minutes later he had the furnace up and running. I am very happy with him. The price was kind of expensive.

We are very happy with the unit itself and Coastal's service.

Up front about their pricing structure, set dates for a visit, punctual and honest when assessing any potential issues and friendly follow-up regarding billing. Sunny, my first and last point of contact, is friendly and great to deal with and they are now my go-to, should any other needs arise.

The secretary is so sweet to me. Her boss has been really nice to me. Everybody is nice to me. Wonderful. They are a wonderful company.

The sales rep was very clear on what they would do for me. Install went well, no problems to date. I found their staff helpful and professional. I would use them again in the near future.

I originally found this company on Angie's list. The owner (Mike) came by for the estimate. He measured each room in the house and took lots of notes about the job. The quote was very thorough and provided a detailed description of the job and all costs. What I loved about this company is that they arranged all the plumbers, electricians, oil tank removal, town inspections, rebates, which was huge for me. Each member of the team (and all subcontractors) arrived on time to do the job and were very professional. They cleaned up after themselves and regularly checked in with me throughout the day. Mike the owner showed up the first day to oversee the work and to explain what was going on. In the end the cost was exactly as estimated. It has been 1 month now since the job was completed and the new heating system is working as expected. I would definitely recommend this company and I look forward to doing business with them in the future.

In August, I called Coastal for a central air estimate. Sunny the office manager arranged for Mike (owner) to come to the house the following week. He did a walkthrough and said we could add AC to our existing (old) furnace and also talked to us about the new Mitsubishi heat pump/AC units that could possibly be installed. After his visit I promptly received an estimate of the cost of the installation. Thinking I should get other estimates, I called a couple of other companies but one was not responsive and the other told me they couldn't accommodate my request for an estimate for several weeks. Given the good reviews here and the courteous service I had already received from Coastal I decided to go ahead with the installation, but before I did, decided to get the air ducts cleaned. The tech who came out did a thorough job of cleaning the ductwork, which hadn't been touched in the 20 years that we lived in the house. On installation day the crew, including an electrician, showed up early in the morning. They had been at my house for a short time, preparing to do the installation, when they told me they were really sorry but they had bad news -- the installation couldn't be done because my old furnace (original to my late-50s era house) and the air conditioning unit were not compatible, and that the area where I wanted the outdoor unit did not provide enough air circulation. I was not only disappointed but frustrated since the owner of the company had done the estimate and I thought he should've been aware of these issues. Both the techs and I got on the phone to Coastal. While I talked to Sunny, who was very apologetic, she was on the phone with the owner so they were aware of the situation, and actually acknowledged that they made a mistake. She looked up my furnace make and model and confirmed that it was not possible to install AC with it. She said I had a couple of options -- one was to install the Mitsubishi wall units (more expensive and not what I wanted), and the other was to install a new furnace. I was a bit overwhelmed by that thought and said that would depend on the cost, as I was not prepared to replace the furnace. Of course, a third option was to get a refund on my deposit and forget the whole thing, which I considered! Then Coastal surprised me by saying they would install a new furnace at cost (and offered to show me their receipt) since they had put me at a disadvantage. After some thought I decided to go with this option and scheduled the installation for a couple of weeks later. The crew once again showed up promptly, and this time they spent the day removing my old furnace, installing a new one, and installing the AC units on the furnace and outside in the area that we had re-done to allow for better air circulation under the deck. They also insulated the ducts directly around the furnace (but just those?not the ductwork that leads to the rooms) to contain the heat. The techs and the electrician were courteous, professional, and very neat. The electrician did have to come back the next day to finish up but that was not a problem. He even pointed out to me that he thought I had a gas leak in my basement and that I should call National Grid (which I did, and sure enough I did have a small leak that I had to take care of). On this 25 degree morning I am happily sitting in my nice warm house. The new furnace and my clean ducts heat up my house in a fraction of the time of the old furnace. I've noticed that the area around the furnace is not as hot as it was before, so I feel the heat is going into the house instead of the basement, which is a good thing. I have not used the AC yet but look forward to being nice and cool next summer. I would recommend Coastal to anyone looking to have this kind of work done. Yes, they made an error when they did the estimate, but they admitted it and then made it right, and the price was quite reasonable. On top of that, all of the people I dealt with (especially Sunny) were very pleasant and professional. I plan to use them for any service I need in the future.
