Description of Work: We needed knob and tubing remediation. John converted all of the knob and tube wiring in our house to updated wiring. John and his assistant were on time every day, were polite and professional. Performing this job in our house led to quite a few obstacles, making a 2-3 day job take 4 or 5 days. They completed the job with no added costs, despite the unknown obstacles and extended time frame. We are happy with the work and with the professionalism of this company. We would recommend his services to anyone who needed electrical work done.

 + -1 moreI wouldn't use this company if he came in to do the work for free. He was horrible. Apparently I live in a condominium and they give his name as one of the recommended electricians to use. I had another electrician because I had so many problems with him. I had another, neutral electrician come in to look at the work he did, and he said that I should report him to the Mass Board of Electricians because he left the job hazardous. He left wires, some which he should've tied off. And he left some live. I wouldn't let him in my house again. And I wouldn't recommend anybody to use him. Especially when he's trying to rip people off for a $700.00 bill when it's like a $100.00 job.
Description of Work: Electricians. He was supposed to put in a fan in my back bedroom. I bought the fan, it was $50.00. And he tried to give me a bill for $700.00 because he couldn't find the wiring.

 + -1 moreJohn was great; he and his associate arrived right on time and were both extremely professional. The work was completed in one day, as promised, and it looks great. They cleaned up after themselves and he will be coming back to install under-cabinet lighting as well (not part of original quote). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to my friends.
Description of Work: Installed two pendant lights, moved light switch to different wall, installed two outlets, fixed two non-working outlets, rerouted a couple other wires.

 + -1 moreI emailed them asking for a cost estimate and an approximate schedule of when they thought they could do the work. They responded on the same day and were very polite and professional. It turned out that they wouldn't be able to install the outlet within the week but offered to refer me to an electrician that could. I ended up using another electrician, but I appreciated their quick and professional response.
Description of Work: I needed them to install a standard outlet for a washing machine within a week (before my new machine got delivered.)

 + 1 moreJohn was great. We were able to schedule the work quickly. He came just when he said he would and did a great job, even fixing an additional outlet we hadn't realized was a problem. His price was also extremely reasonable, and he took extra care to clean up the spaces. I would definitely recommend him.
Description of Work: John and his partner fixed two outlets that were pulling from the wall because they weren't properly installed and installed a bathroom light/exhaust fan.

I had several tasks I needed him to do, and as soon as I finished explaining the first one, he had his assistant start on it while I showed him the other things, so to be as efficient as possible. John and his assistant worked very diligently, but kept me appraised of everything that was going on. They were very attentive to the details I provided, and even gave me some advice, that I ignored, and regretted later (CFLs and dimmer switcher == flicker). Next time I'll listen. I enjoyed John's company and would highly recommend him to others. Also, ask him questions -- he's a gold mine of information.
Description of Work: John and his assistant installed several lights, including some tricky ladder work.

Description of Work: He put two new smoke detectors in, one was at the top of the stair way about 15 feet up, and the other was in my office. He had also adjusted my light on my front door, it was on a timer. He replaced a kitchen lightbulb I couldn't reach.

 + 0 moreI ended up going with another contractor who did all the proposed work above the right way, in addition to the installation of 2 porch lights (supplied by me, all for $300 less than Teheen's $1900+ estimate. The second contractor ran all the wiring through the walls and ceiling and installed 2 new dedicated interior switches for the outdoor lighting and a dedicated switch for the kitchen track light. No conduits, no visible feeds, no outdoor switches! I never indicated to Teheen that cost was an issue; his approach (proposed by him, not me) sounded reasonable at the time but seems rather Rube Goldbergesque in retrospect. On a personal note, John Teheen is a bright young man who struck me with his professional, genial demeanor and his self-confidence (tilting though a bit to the cocky side). However based on his strange work proposal and his high cost estimate, I will not use him in the future.
Description of Work: I called John to help me with the following work: Install 3 outdoor light fixtures. Replace about a dozen interior AC outlets, including 4 in the kitchen (which require GFCIs by code). Install a 3-head kitchen track light fixture (supplied by me). John proposed to run conduit through the basement wall to feed the outdoor lighting. All 3 fixtures were to be fed with exterior conduit. Teheen proposed an exterior weather-proof switch (also connected via external conduit) near the back door for outdoor lights. He proposed the external lighting and the track light wiring schemes as a way to make the job simpler and less costly (as opposed to running new lines through the interior walls and ceiling and using interior switching for the outdoor lights). Similarly a line (fed by a nearby interior switch junction) was to be run up along a kitchen wall (albeit partially hidden by a dish cabinet) up to the track light fixture. Again for ease of installation and alleged cost reduction.

The most honest man I've met who tells you upfront he charges $85 per hour (frequently that includes 1-2 extra men to help him) and makes no profit on the supplies giving you their exact cost to him. Despite the birth of his second child during our job, he was in touch and very reliable. He's personable, reliable, does great work and I will definitely call him again.
Description of Work: He and his crew rewired the first floor and upstairs bath and hallway in our 1100 sq foot bungalow home. Additionally he wired and installed a total of 10 recessed lights and 4 smoke detectors. He added some additional switches in the basement and installed ceiling fan and 2 chandeliers.
