Our deck had been renovated about 5 years ago, completely rebuilt. But the prior condo association hired the lowest bidder, and they did a terrible job. So we're in the process of basically trying to fix the thing one step at a time. The biggest issue was the supports that hold up our deck weren't strong enough for the type of deck we have, and began warping. It was almost a C by the time we took over. Obviously we had to fix this or it was going to collapse. After talking with a few contractors about doing the fix for this, we ultimately decided to go with Jack. Jack was very personable and straight forward. I do have a bit of experience with construction as I've grown up around people who are carpenters so I was looking for specific answers when talking to these contractors. Usually playing kinda dumb and asking easy questions and seeing what their answers are is a good idea if you do actually know the correct answer. If they don't give you that, thank them for their time and estimate, but ultimately go with your gut that they may not be the folks to go with. Jack ticked all the boxes of what I was looking for in this repair. He also talked me through and answered all questions about the timing of when the work would take place once the contract is signed right up front. I did take half a star off for the customer service, ONLY because getting the project scheduled took a couple reminder emails following up with him. As he's very busy, I understand this 100% since I've owned a business before. Otherwise, working with him was a pleasure as he's very straight forward and honest. Could use a bit more communication with the scheduling, that's really the only thing I'd mention to improve upon. Honest to the point that - while working on the repairs the day of, they dug around the sonotube to see what was already there and they realized they could just use what was there, and he knocked off some of the cost of the project after calling me, showing me what was there, and walking me through why he's taking some money off the final price. He didn't have to do that, he could've just finished the work and capped the tube off with concrete without me ever knowing, but he showed some serious integrity which I really appreciate. The contract It was half up front - then the rest upon completion. Pretty straight forward. The job went really quick, team did a good job, and we have some really good supports for our deck now. <p>I'd recommend Jack and his crew. We'll be doing more business in the future. Honesty goes a long way with me.</p>

Jack and his crew did a great job doing extensive exterior repairs, including entirely replacing wood on our porch and balcony, and reconstructing our stairs and railing. They gave a quick quote, scheduled the work quickly, and then performed the work efficiently on time and on budget. Would (and will) absolutely work with them again in the future.

I came to know Jack General Service through HomeAdvisor, and when I contacted them, Mr. Jackson came the next day to re-view and assed the work to be done, and showed that he is very professional, and knows what he is talking about, and be side being friendly he offered expert advise and sugestions for the project.

Jack was professional, friendly, prompt, and trustworthy. He and his crew did the work proficiently with high quality materials. Jack offered good suggestions to improve the project at no extra cost. The work was remove existing porch, wheel chair lift and build new 5 foot wide porch with railing matching existing wood railings. Also replacing some wood posts on my back porch, decking and replacing a rotting door threshold. They left both work sites very clean. They did it all very well and completed it when temperatures were low.

Perfect job. In addition when finished you could eat off the floor. Also a great price!

Very professional and thorough.

Needed to patch a bathroom wall to hang a mirror instead of a recessed medicine cabinet. Jack and workers are right on time, professional, did an excellent job.

They came on time, even earlier and they did a great job! Very nice to deal with.

They did not arrive on time. However, the junk was removed from the apartment and that was done well. It cost more than I expected to pay and it would have cost $10 more if I used a debit card. So, we had to go to the bank to get cash.

He also delivered above and beyond what was in the official contract (quote) as well as discussed verbally during the project. They were way fast than we expected and he did everything to accommodate the city requirements and permits keeping our centenary Victorian house looking like a beautiful and elegant “Old Lady” accommodating the code to preserve the style.
