B & D Air Conditioning & Gas Heating

Description of Work: Our 5 year old central air conditioning system had stopped working. The company who put it in was no longer in business, so we looked to Angie's list to find someone to do the work. B&D was responsive over the phone, and sent someone over the next day. They were on time and polite. I liked that he had a high school kid working along side him to run to the car for tools, etc, and not waste time. Because the problem was in the attic, the service man took pictures of the problem for us to show us what had happened. Basically, because we had not had the system serviced or the vent cleaned, the whole system had blocked and frozen, ruining the very expensive motor of the system. The company who had put in the system had failed to tell us that it needed regular maintenance! The majority of the cost was the motor. The service man kept apologizing about the cost of the motor as it was the most expensive one he ever saw (over $1300). I did not compare companies to see if someone could get it cheaper. I basically believed what the guy told me about the cost. The labor charge was not overestimated and was fair. It was a very hot week, and they came as soon as the part came in, to fix the system.

Description of Work: Serviced my A/C unit and installed a new programmable thermostat.
