It all went brilliantly - Marcello and all his crew are wonderful people. They had previously expanded a half-bathroom into a full-bathroom for us (summer 2014) and had done an excellent job so we knew that when we asked them to re-do the deck and work to repair storm damage they would be our first choice. We are once again very very happy with the work. They went above and beyond to clean gutters, remove snow, and were just generally very attentive to all details. When I expressed concern about the color of the wood on the deck they patiently explained to me the process of aging and discoloration. All in all, I have nothing but the highest opinion of this company and recommend it with utmost enthusiasm.

Marcello started the project by pointing out damage from ice dams and directed me to call my insurance company and hire a moisture mitigation company - which I would never have known to do. He guided me through that preparation process (including speaking personally to the insurance adjuster) and began work very soon after all of those details were in place. He and his project manager (Jared) were consistently responsive and the work was flawless. They also added some additional touches that I did not ask for but really made the work complete (eg, new brass house numbers, house cleaning service post-work, etc). The work was done in a reasonable amount of time, any observations were addressed immediately, and the work stayed on-budget based on estimate to the penny. Every contractor that works for Marcello were utmost professionals and were totally respectful from start to finish. I would hire Marcello again for any job, without question, and wouldn't even consider getting estimates from other contractors - Marcello's the one!

I have never done a renovation before and I was nervous going into this project. I read the reviews on Angie's list and I was very comfortable and impressed with Marcello. His team did a wonderful job and they went above and beyond to get everything done, including the small details! He was very professional and responsive to my concerns. The finished product is excellent. I give Marcello and his team my highest recommendation.

Marcellos and his guys did fantastic work - on a difficult job. We had already lowered our basement floor and repointed the stone walls. The job was to turn the raw space into a TV room. They did everything explained above, and more. As other reviewers said, the carpentry was impressive, beyond expectations. All the guys were very professional, attentive, courteous, and tidy. Their ultimate goal was to make sure we were happy - and we were, the space came out great!

The job went very well. The quality of the work was what I was most impressed with, especially the quality of carpenters who did all of the finish work. The carpenters astutely picked up issues with the cabinet design spacing and corrected for it. You hear stories of contractors being absent from the job site for extended periods of time, but Marcello's team worked diligently to finish the job. Once everything started to come together, they often worked Saturdays to get everything wrapped up as quickly as possible. Marcello and his team were also responsive to my requests. One example of this was the under cabinet lights. Due to the color scheme I wanted 'cool' white lights rather than 'warm' lights. They also had to be low profile. The electrician brought me 3 options before finding what ended up being a perfect fit for what I was looking for. I recommend Marcello without reservation. It was a pleasure working with him.

With 4 weeks to go we decided to host a birthday party at our house for about 30 guests. We had a long list of repairs and painting we'd been thinking about and now we had less than 4 weeks to get it all done. We'd used Marcello once previously to repair water damage in a bedroom and we'd been pleased. Marcello came over and assessed all our requests and gave us a quote and assured us his team could get the job done in time for the birthday party. His crew put in long days and even some Saturdays and they got everything done including incidental things we identified along the way, like installing a new medicine cabinet in the bathroom, and patching the holes left by the old one. On the last day a cleaning crew of 3 spent the whole day cleaning and organizing every room, even ones we hadn't had repainted. The final price was exactly what Marcello had quoted us up front. Needless to say, friends and family were amazed by the makeover when they arrived for the birthday party.

I was really impressed with the reviews for Marcello and very interested in hiring him. He came to my house in time ... Very punctual and professional. Everything was going in the right direction but unlike other contractors he did not think there was a need to measure the space. It appeared to me that he is doing analysis at the surface. He did not think of ways to reduce the cost of the project when I told him that his quite is way over my expectation. When asked he said he has so much experience that he can look at the space and quote the price. He gave me the quote and it was very high compared to others. My bathrooms need modification but he did not seem open to modifying them but to rip them apart and build new. May be the cost is driven from there... Not sure. But looking at the similar projects on this website, I feel his quote was an overcharge. I would consider hiring him (again based on the excellent reviews) but not at his high quotes. When I told him that the quotes I have gotten from others are much lower and I am surprised why he is so far off, his rebuttal revolved around that I should get the cost back because of my location and others who would have given the quote may not be good contractors. He might be right but I did not see much creative ideas there to even entertain the thought of bringing the quote down.

We got Marcello's name from Angie's list based on all of the positive reviews. He and his team lived up to their reputation. They are a pleasure to work with and did a fine job with our kitchen and first floor renovations. We are very happy with the results, everything came out beautifully. Construction is a stressful and disruptive process, however Marcello's team made their best attempts to maintain a sense of order in our home and cleaned up at the end of each day. Marcello and his team are respectful and all displayed a "can do" attitude when faced with obstacles along the way, which inevitably come up with this type of project. Marcello was easy to communicate with and we contacted him often with questions about our project. We felt comfortable having his team in and out of the house while we were at work and even when we were away on vacation. Towards the end of the construction, we had a pipe burst and water damage to the bedroom/bathroom, which was completely unrelated to our kitchen project. Marcello was a great help to us during this time. He is always willing to help. His plumber came out on a Sunday to address the issue and his team fixed the damaged ceiling and painted etc. We highly recommend Marcello's Renovations. When we are ready for future projects we will definitely give Marcello a call!

This guy is the real deal! Marcello completed my extensive renovations 3.5 years ago. He was awesome at the time but his professionalism and sense of integrity are unmatched in this industry. A few months after the renovations, we noticed that half our master bathroom floor wasn't heated. Marcello was our general contractor but we subcontracted with an electrician to do the floor heat. Due to the warranty, we had to go with a Nuheat certified electrician and his fee was over $1,700 to fix the floor heat which cost just $1,200 to install. Because it was difficult to determine the cause of the failure (warranty or installation), Marcello covered the entire cost! He even had to order an additional box of tiles to repair our bathroom floor, which was very expensive since our tiles came from Spain. Fast forward 3.5 years later (a few weeks ago), the same thing happened! We didn't think Marcello would come but he immediately returned my phone call and showed up when the certified electrician came. This time the electrician discovered the underlying problem: 110V floor heat mats were wired to 220V!! Clearly, it was not Marcello's fault but he was extremely gracious about the situation. Since he ordered an entire box of tiles last time, we had more than enough replacement tiles this time to complete the repair. The electrical repair was completed on a Friday but Marcello was able to have his tiling guy come in on Monday to put back the tiles! In fact he personally came to inspect the tiling job after it was done to make sure I was happy, which I was. I am so glad we went with Marcello for all the work in my house. He's definitely not someone who would overcharge you or avoid you when issues come up. He's honest and definitely takes his reputation seriously. I could not recommend him enough.

We first contacted Marcello in October, and he was very responsive to our request for a quote. We got quotes from multiple contractors, and all quotes were nearly the same (within 3k of each other). Marcello's quote was not the lowest, but we felt most comfortable working with him based on his responsiveness and suggestions and recommendations for the space. Marcello filed for permits, and we were ready to start the project on February 5th. He estimated that the project would take 6 weeks. All told, it took 7 weeks from the start date, which we were very happy with. Marcello's team was working in the basement 6 days a week. They arrived early most mornings and left late most evenings. I've heard horror stories of project stalling for weeks on end, and I assure you, we did not have that problem with Marcello's team. Project manager, Jared Butler, was extremely polite and professional. He and Marcello checked in with us a few times over the 7 weeks to make sure that we were pleased. Both he and Marcello responded to emails very quickly. The one time we did have a small issue, Marcello answered his phone at 8pm (and 9pm) on Friday night and responded to our concern immediately. We also had a great experience with Rinaldo, who did our tiling in the bathroom. He asked what we wanted, explained what we needed to purchase, and then made the tile look exactly the way we hoped it would. We're so happy with how it has turned out This team takes great pride in their work. Our basement now looks much nicer than our main floor. We really appreciate some of the small touches that they added for us as well. We especially like the small semi-finished storage closet that they added under our stairs. Even though this was technically in the unfinished part of the basement, it was a really nice touch for them to add. Also, having the house cleaned by professional cleaners at the end of the project was amazing. No more construction dust! We plan to use Marcello's Renovations again in the future!

They were wonderful and we were very pleased with them. The workers were all nice people and we had no problems with anybody.

They gave us quote. Later after the architect gave the final go, suddenly they said that we cannot work for the quoted price. Initially they quoted 25000$ and then they immediately jumped to 89000$. After we have done with the architect, they never replied to any of our mails. The marketing guy never picked up any of our calls. I somehow got the office number and called them up and then they came down to 50000$ and said they would work it up with the owner. Then the owner himself came and said that they quoted the wrong price and the correct one is 89000$. It is so funny that they keep on jumping and they did this game for more than 4 to 5 months. We started with them sometime during March and due to this back and forth business it was almost October and the winter had started to set in. We were not able to do the work at all. If they would have told his by March itself or by May, we could have looked for another provider. We wasted lot of time and lot of energy on this.

Marcello's Renovations was one of the best experiences I have ever had with any professional organization! Not only limited to construction projects. I run a Financial Services Organization currently, but grew up working in construction. I place a tremendous value on punctuality, professionalism, responsiveness, and of course quality. Marcello was referred to me by the home inspector for my recently purchased single family home in Charlestown, MA. It was a Million dollar property, and I wanted quality work, without a hugely inflated cost. I received multiple quotes. I felt that because of the property, I was being overcharged based on the assumption that I wouldn't be sensitive to cost. Marcello was early to our appointment. Which was on Saturday. He took his shoes off upon entering. He asked thoughtful questions about what we were looking for. He took his notes on an iPad which impressed me. He was dressed in clothes that had been custom made with his company name. His company truck was clean, with the company name and contact info painted professionally on the side. Unlike other quotes, he did not ballpark the price. He did promise to be in touch with a quote by that evening. He delivered on that promise. The quote was extremely reasonable. I accepted, and he was at our home the following day, on SUNDAY, with his project manager, and his tile installer. Both were equally courteous. Our project was completed on time and on budget. Which was absolutely incredible, considering the blizzard conditions that have made for the snowiest and coldest February in Boston History! Our expectations were exceeded! He and his crew took the time to get up on our roof and shovel snow that had accumulated. They fixed curtain rods that were loose. They installed thermostats and light fixtures. They picked up materials that we needed from vendors. I never write reviews. Good or Bad. I don't have the time for it. However, I was so blown away by this experience, that it warranted the feedback. I am going to have my roof done over, a new roof deck built, and the exterior of my home painted. All once the snow melts. I would not consider even entertaining the idea of a company other than Marcello's Renovations and Construction to do the work. I will never call another contractor. I did get an estimate from him. But, the problem with that estimate was that there was no break down. He just gave me a number of 49000$ and that was the end.

They work is always very fast. The workers are all very nice. The work is always beautiful.

I was absolutely thrilled with the results and impressed with their customer orientation, professionalism and craftsmanship. Here is how I would break down the experience: quality of work: I looked over the work every night with my father in law (who knows much more about construction than I do). We were blown away by the quality of workmanship we saw. joints were perfectly cut and every corner of the work was performed with care and great skill. The town inspections all went great as well. Price: Marcello was middle of the pack of the contractors we met with, but their price included the most creative ideas about the space and seemed the best value. They accommodated some mid project changes (upgrades) within the original estimate. Marcello also had no problem with letting us do the painting which helped us keep the overall cost down. Timing: marcello's crew showed up on time and put in full days. The project was completed on schedule. We had some minor problems with the subs, so this is the only area where I can't give a perfect score. Professionalism: Marcello and his crew were absolutely wonderful to work with. They really emphasize the working relationship with the customer. My 80 year old father in law lives with us and was poking his head in on the work several times a day. I could easily have imagined another crew getting annoyed, but marcello's team listened closely, accommodated his questions and virtually adopted him as part of the team. One last story: after the work was all finished we found we were unhappy with the placement of the ceiling fans. Even though the fan was put exactly where we requested, Marcello offered to send his crew in one more time to move the fan, replaster and paint the ceiling where the whole had been. He wanted us to be absolutely satisfied with the finish work and we are.

Work began on time. He took a picture of the safety bar installed in one bathroom (I wanted the same one), viewed closet doors that would not stay closed, and estimated how much caulk he needed. Then he was off to shopping, back fast. All work was done professionally and neatly. He started by leaving his boots in the hallway. ;-P

This is the third time we have contracted with Marcello's Renovations to take care of our home construction projects. I was 5 months pregnant at the start of the project and needed the job done well and quickly before the baby arrived. Marcello was true to his time estimate and delivered the final product in excellent working condition before the baby was born!!! I cannot say enough about the fantastic experience we have had with this company since 2011. Marcello was quick to deal with any concerns and left me no opportunity to feel stressed (considering the condition I was in). He was always very communicative, very responsive and very honest (a rarity in the construction business). He is a pleasure to deal with. Our project was a main floor project. We took down multiple walls, some of which were structural and made our colonial home more open concept by enlarging the kitchen, knocking down some walls and opening the space out to our family and living room. The space was completely gutted and redone. Marcello put in a brand new kitchen, ceramic tiled mudroom, a half bathroom, a coat closet, custom built in bookshelves and redid siding and some brickwork. The electrical and plumbing were totally redone. His workers and the subcontractors he used were professional, knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with and most importantly of all they showed up every day!!! I give Marcello and his crew the highest commendation. I would recommend them to anyone thinking of renovating their home. They know what they are doing and are pleasant, positive and reliable. We would use them again in the future without reservation. Keep up the good work Marcello!

Provider asked via email to send few pictures of the basement and square footage. I sent four pictures and said I want to keep mostly open space and make a play area and a wet bar. Response was prompt. 70$ per sq ft standard rate which provider did not mention I in his first email, although he did say that it was their standard rate. I thought it was more than I had expected( 35-45$/sq ft ) and decided not to spend my hard earned money with the provider.

After my initial inquiry via Angie?s List, Marcello was able to accommodate my schedule for a weekend visit. Among all contractors coming up, Marcello is the only one giving me an immediate quote with a fixed price, including all labor, materials and trash removal. In contrast, a few other contractors told me their quotes are only a bulk part, and they won?t know the price until the work is done. In addition, Marcello is the only one who offered me an immediate start, while others asked me to wait for a few weeks to up to three months. Therefore, I decided to choose Marcello because of his crystal clear price and promise for quick completion. I soon understand how come Marcello can start so quickly. That?s because he has very a large team to deploy. During the project, a total of five different craftsmen rotated for different parts. They are all very polite and professional. They all in uniform and drive trucks with the company?s logo. Marcello himself is a rare e-communication guru among general contractors. He always responds my email almost immediately, and informs me his team?s schedule for the next day. Upon the completion of this project, I am 100% satisfied with the exceptional quality of Marcello?s work. My basement is totally revitalized! I will definitely use Marcello?s Renovation again for my future renovation projects.

Marcello and his colleagues were nothing but professional, highly personable and incredibly efficient from the very first day we made contact with them. Not only did Marcello undertake the work done while we were away (and therefore we were hard to get hold of on the phone, unable to write a check right away, etc...) but he completed it within the promised time-frame. The thing we appreciated the most was the absolutely impeccable communication we had with Marcello; always answered phone calls and emails right away and always had solutions and reassuring words. He sent us photos of an unexpected problem that was found and did his best to find appropriate solutions. His employees were all incredibly kind, especially Edson, who is an absolutely stellar worker and wonderful person. The estimate did seem high to us but after comparing it to a few others we realized that it was not much higher and I truly appreciated that there were no bad surprises--on the contrary they surprised us by doing some extra work that we had decided not to do because of our bathroom expenses. I feel like I have found a group of people who I can always contact and rely on if I need work done...this is a hard thing to come by! I cannot recommend Marcello's Renovations enough.

Marcello, Sergio and team were fantastic. The project came in on budget and about on time (it took one week longer than anticipated because our basement floor needed more work to level it). Sergio and his crew arrived every day on time, and cleaned up before they left for the day. He was also a great communicator, letting us know when inspectors were coming and giving us updates on a regular basis as to where we were in the project. If I didn't see Sergio, I could call or text with questions and he'd get right back to me. Everyone on the crew was friendly, respectful, and very knowledgeable, answering questions we had. The two things that we really loved about working with Marcello's Renovations were the quality of work they did and the willingness to work with us to make sure we were happy with the final product. Sergio treated the project and all of the details as if it were his own, making suggestions for functional and aesthetic details and providing his professional perspective when it came to making decisions on flooring, carpentry, and hardware. He was also extremely diligent in making sure that things were done at the highest quality and in a way that made us happy; there was one time that we weren't completely happy with how the landing on the stairway looked, and Sergio right away helped us figure out what we could do to make it look the way we wanted it to, then made the changes. The end result is that we have a gorgeous basement that looks even better than we thought it would when we started! I would absolutely work with Marcello's Renovations and Sergio again for any future projects we have.

Met with Marcello to get estimate for work we wanted done for a house we were moving into. He arrived on time and even brought an architect with him because we were also interested in doing some floor plan adjustment of our main floor. They were both super nice. Unfortunately, when his estimate came, it was 4 times more than 2 other estimates that I got (one from a contractor recommended by a friend and one was another A rated Angie's list contractor, who both priced in the 7000 range vs his 28,000+). In Marcello's estimate, he just listed the things that were going to be done and one big fee. Because his estimate was so much more, and we were doing so many different things (wall building, painting rooms, fence removal etc) I asked him if he could breakdown his estimate so I could see where the differential in price was. I got this testy email back saying I could hire bob the builder off the street and I would get what I paid for (really!!!), and no breakdown in prices. No thank you!!

Marcello Renovations did a basement renovation project and they installed the range hood in the kitchen. It is a true pleasure working with them. I highly recommend Marcello to every Angie's list member. In the contractor selection phase, I sent my inquiries to all the highest rated contractors on Angies list and some of the general contractors that my friends recommended. Among the 6 general contractors that checked to my basement and gave me the project proposal, I selected Marcello, for the following reasons a) I feel Marcello really has a lot of experience doing basement projects b) His proposal includes more things (such as the installation of sump pump) for less money. c) He does great communication. He is very friendly, responsive and explains things in a simple way. Marcello?s team keeps exceeding my expectation. I honestly didn?t expect that they can start the project so fast. We signed the contract on a Saturday, and Marcello?s team brought the tools and the building materials and started working in the basement the next Monday. After the project started, the most exciting thing every day is to see the progress that they made in my basement. Marcello?s team is extremely hard working. They came in every morning @7:30. And they even come to work during the weekend if I don?t have a problem. Sometimes, it feels like that they are renovating their own basement instead of mine. The quality of their work is top notch ? high quality materials are used and the workers are extremely skillful and handy. I don?t need to say too much here. Check the photos below. The photos are more than a thousand words. What makes Marcello?s team stands out even more is that they really go beyond the scope of the project. Here are all the things that Marcello?s team did for me for FREE: 1) I bought an over the sink cabinet that I have trouble putting on the wall. Marcello?s carpenter installed it and fixed it on the wall for me. 2) The outlets in the bathroom upstairs are not working. Marcello?s electrician came and fixed the issue. 3) We bought a lot of furniture and stuff online and have a lot of huge boxes to discard. The garbage collector of my town didn?t collect these boxes. Marcello quietly took them away, which is a huge relief on us. 4) Marcello?s carpenter built a shelf in one of the basement closet for free. This was not in the proposal. And it?s like he can read my mind ? I do need a shelf in that closet and I was planning to do it myself. 5) I initially told Marcello that I was going to put TV on one wall. But I changed my mind when the basement is almost finished. Marcello?s team changed the cable outlet position without any complaints. 6) I have an old washer that I want to discard. Marcello took it away for me? 7) After the project is done, Marcello?s cleaning team is cleaning the WHOLE PROPERTY for free. My wife calls Marcello?s team ?THE ALMIGHTY MARCELLOS?. This has been a great experience for use. I feel that Marcello?s service and the result he delivered worth every penny that we paid. If I have projects in the future, I won?t go with anybody else.

Marcello was very responsive to my special needs for this job to be done. I'm on crutches and need the railing to go in and out of the house. Other masons took longer to respond or to come examine the job or bid on the job. Work crew was very polite, right on time, and efficient. The price for two guys plus travel time seemed a bit high to me, but my need was urgent and he met it. I have no complaints. The job was well worth it.
