My wife, kids and I are picky. Furthermore, we had been planning on finishing the basement for years. So, we had specific ideas about how we wanted the finished project to look. Marcello met and exceeded our expectations. I thought it was nice when we first met and Marcello said, ?I want you to be 100% happy at the end of the project?. I was pleased when he said the same thing the first time I asked for something that was a bit ?off-plan?. By the end of the project I was blown away. Every question we had was met with the same response: ?I want you to be 100% happy?. We are!! Marcello and his team are also among the nicest people I have ever worked with. Joe, the project manager, came up with great solutions during the design and build (for example, moving some pipes which avoided soffits and allowed for a smooth ceiling and a much better look). Also, Marcello found some mold on a wall that wasn't part of the project. He replaced the wall as part of the project (no added cost) because, he said, "if it was my house, that's what I would want". Their carpentry work was exceptional. Their skills really stood out with the built-ins and the bar. And, the budget never changed. We paid exactly what he estimated. As I said, Marcello exceeded our expectations. Our basement is much nicer than we could have imagined. Not only do I recommend Marcello, I agree with a prior review ? if he?s busy, wait until he is free.
Description of Work: Marcello: -Cleaned out (our garbage) and gutted the basement -Brought in an architect to design project within budget estimate -Installed French drains and two sump pumps -Completed a finished basement (including bars, built in cabinets, closets to hide sumps, etc)

I could not be happier with Marcello and his team. They fully consulted with me during the planning and structural drawing. Marcello did all of the leg work with the city and inspectors. Once we got going on the project, Edson, the project manager, made sure that the build was of the least impact that it could be. When it was time to get the cabinets down, I had fogotten to empty a few of them. The team packed everything up for me and organized it in the living room. The quality of the work is stellar as well. Everything is straight and has a very nice finish. We are coming to the finish of the project and I already have a few other projects I can hopefully schedule this year with Marcello's team.
Description of Work: Marcello and team worked with me to remodel my kitchen into a real stunner! He helped me think about a good layout, was a good liason with the structural engineer and city planners and gave great advice on where to cut costs and where to spend. We removed a carrying wall, supported the house on the first floor and basement, raised a floor, fully re-did all the walls to the studs, rewired, re-worked all of the plumbing and installed all new cabinets and countertops.

Marcello is a pleasure to work with. He is extremely responsive. Marcello responded to my initial phone call within 10 minutes, came to my house to talk about the job the next day, supplied an estimate a day after that, and was able to begin work a week later. His foreman, Joe, was also very easy to contact and very responsive. They both checked in often to be sure that everything was going well and to address any concerns. We also enjoyed working with his electrician. We appreciated that Marcello stuck to his original estimate even though we added a few things along the way (like adding soundproofing to the new walls and adding a light inside an existing closet and a couple of new recessed lights). We would not hesitate to recommend Marcello's Renovations to anyone, and in fact have passed his information along to a couple of neighbors already.
Description of Work: Marcello converted a large open room into two separate rooms by enclosing a staircase and adding a wall, doors, and a window. Everything was finished with baseboards and trim and painted. He also added electric baseboard heating, two thermostats, two hardwired smoke detectors, and rewired the electric so that the two rooms and the staircase are on separate switches. He also upgraded the electrical panel in the basement to accommodate the baseboard heating. We provided the doors and window, and the baseboard heaters so those were not included in the estimate.

We called Marcello and got a return call the same day and he came over either that afternoon or the next morning (I forget which) but he was very punctual and timely getting back to us. He seemed extremely organized and took notes and measurements. He's very easy to talk to and was helpful with knowledge of our town's codes and such. He had helpful suggestions on how to improve our space as well. Work began the week before Thanksgiving and was estimated to be completed in 4 weeks (15-20 days). Marcello's crew was usually punctual, arriving at 8:00 am daily. They always left the work areas cleaned up at the end of the day. The guys were pleasant and quieter than I expected (no loud music or yelling/swearing etc). They were all really nice. Joey was especially helpful and respectful of any requests we had. Marcello was on site everyday to check on the progress. We had a few minor communication issues but Marcello was extremely fair in rectifying the issues. As per usual with these kind of projects, it took longer than we all expected but it was during the holidays, so it was understandable. The quality of work is top notch. The only thing we were not really pleased with was the trim on the stairs, which, due to a miscommunication, wasn't trimmed out before the carpet was installed and there are gaps that look sloppy. Marcello has offered to try to fix the gaps, though. We are extremely pleased with the space and would definitely use Marcello again in the future. About 3 weeks after the basement was completed, our old washing machine broke and overflowed pouring water into the vents on the floor and raining into the basement! I texted Marcello a picture just to let him know and to commiserate and he came right over! He had one of his guys come and set up their huge fans to help dry things out and even replaced some insulation that got soaked. How many contractors would do that after the job was done? We highly recommend him!
Description of Work: Finished our previously unfinished basement space creating a large playroom and walling off the storage side of the basement. Framed walls and doorways, created a closet to house the electrical box and central vac system, a closet to house the sump pump and dehumidifier, a large closet for toy storage and created a walk in closet under the stairs. Installed carpet, painted, and trimmed the entire basement.

Our experience with Marcello Renovations was simply fantastic. This was our first large home renovation project, and all our more home-construction-savvy friends are very impressed with the results. Marcello came by within a day of when we called him, gave an estimate by the following day, and started work the following week. Due to an unfortunate experience with another contractor, we were hesitant to give the full project to anyone and so started with a small project with Marcello (widening of the livingroom opening, removal of built in book cases, and removal of a wall that closed off the first floor from the rest of the house). Within a week, we were very impressed with him and his team, and increased the scope (gradually) until we reached our budget ceiling. Marcello has the skills, professionalism, team, and positive attitude that made this project not only stress-free, but a pleasure for us. The above - described work was completed in 2 months (April, May). We moved into the house at the end of May, and it took another month (June) for them to add final touches that we knew all along would be done after moving in. Here are some examples of our experience with Marcello and his team, which we hope convey why we will continue to use them for all our future home renovation projects: 1. Our neighbors (who saw the entire construction, while we lived 6 blocks away during that period) told us that the team was hard working, considerate of them (didn?t play loud music, or speak loudly), and that they have already signed up with them for projects in their own home. 2. There were two glitches during this job (which I?m told is a small number for a job of this size), and the way Marcello Renovations handled both is worth noting. a. One of Marcello?s cleaning crews was supposed to come in to clean the day before we moved in, but life happened and they couldn?t show up. Meanwhile our movers delivered our stuff on schedule and we had a house full of boxes and dust. We called Marcello, and as soon as he realized that the cleaning crew would not be able to show up that day, he came with his business partner, cleaning supplies, and started cleaning the place himself. After making a dozen phone calls (it was the Saturday of memorial day weekend) he managed to get a second crew to come in later in the day to finish the job. b. The electrician Marcello originally used as a subcontractor said that his work was complete, so the rest of the team went ahead and closed walls etc. and we all discovered later that many of the switches/fans/outlets had either not been wired, or wired incorrectly. This electrician was highly reviewed on Angie?s list (unfortunately), so in addition to the work that he did on our house as part of Marcello?s contract, we had separately hired him to do some Ethernet wiring and other misc jobs. When he told us that his work was complete, we paid him our part of the bill. Once we all discovered that he had done a very shoddy job, Marcello took ownership of both the problems ? he found a replacement electrician who completed the work (again, without causing any delays in the overall timeline), AND, took responsibility for recovering our money from the non-performing electrician. He did not have to do the latter for sure, but this is the kind of service we got from Marcello Renovations. 3. Tadeu, the lead carpenter who worked on our house, created a fine bench in our kitchen based on pictures we found, and then added a custom-made table at his own initiative (and not charging us extra) because he realized that it would be hard for us to find one that fit the bench just right. In addition, he painstakingly ensured that all the doors and moldings matched exactly throughout the house, and the results are beautiful. 4. We showed Marcello pictures of a brick backsplash (not brick shaped/colored tile), but were not sure whether it would be feasible, given our tight time constraints and the availability of the right materials. A few days later, he showed up with just the right bricks, and managed to get it done without any exorbitant charges or any delay to the timeline. 5. We more than quadrupled the scope of the work compared to the initial project we asked Marcello to do, and he got all of it done within the same two-month period that he had initially estimated. He delivered on (or ahead of) time and within his original price estimates on all projects. 6. All of his employees and subs are great. Adenis Camara, the plumber, is particularly a star. Initially we were not planning to gut the plumbing, but after meeting Adenis and inspecting the state of the old pipes, we are very glad that we did it. He clearly knows his trade, but also went the extra mile to ensure that we were happy with the work. He came in on Saturdays (more than once) after we moved in, just to make sure that all the plumbing was working correctly. He suggested many ?upgrades? to the shower (rain shower head, heated towel warmers, heated floors) that we went with, and without any of the ridiculous pricing structure that we had heard from other contractors. Overall, we are more than pleased with our experience with Marcello Renovations, and will continue to use him for future projects on our old house!
Description of Work: This was a renovation (price is for labor and rough materials) of a 3-floor 1873 victorian mansard home in cambridge. Marcello Renovations: - moved several walls/doorways to restore a 3-family house back to single family usage - gut-renovated 2 full bathrooms including replacement of bathtubs, with walk-in shower stalls, hot water based towel warmers, toto-washlets (which need both plumbing and electrical connections) - renovated kitchen: painted existing cabinets, added a couple of matching cabinets as needed, replaced tile floor with wood floor, created custom brick backsplash, built custom bench and table, installed all new appliances - gutted (forced hot water) plumbing: replaced old pipes with new ones throughout the house, replaced radiators with baseboards, replaced furnace with a high efficiency one that vents through the side of the house, replaced hot water tanks - replaced an old kitchen with a laundry room that includes a sink, recessed ironing board, and simple wall mounted shelves - built three custom closets (~90” wide x 26” deep x 93” high) using ikea PAX materials. Doors were built by Marcello Renovations - sanded, primed, stained the original 3-floor stairway + banister in the house

We are very glad that things didn?t work out with the Cambridge-based design-build firm we started with because we then found Marcello?s Renovation on Angie?s list. We called him based on the excellent (and high number of reviews on the list), and are extremely happy with the experience. The owner, Marcello Laurindo came to provide an estimate within a day of when we called him in the last week of March, and the work started in the first week of April. The painting crew, lead by Nelson Bettencourt, was extremely professional from the first day, and most importantly, till the completion of the job. They helped us select colors, sometimes this meant that they had to re-do walls because the colors didn?t turn out the way we had visualized. They were patient and cheerful through the process, and we felt very comfortable working with them. After their job was completed, they even came back to touch up some areas that we had marked up while moving in heavy furniture. Marcello Renovations will be the only contracting firm we will be using in the future, and based on the results in our house, our friends/neighbors have already called them as well.
Description of Work: The project involved the following work on a 3-story 1837 Victorian Mansard (with 10' ceilings): Exterior: - rough carpentry to replace a some exterior rotten wooden boards - prep/prime/paint the exterior wood shingles – 2 coats, paint brick foundation - paints used were Benjamin Moore - sand/powerwash/stain two exterior decks and 3 flights of stairs at the back of the house - repair/ sand/powerwash/stain stairs at front and side entrances to the house Interior:- help select colors, and then paint 3 floors of the interior using several different colors -

Marcello's Renovations was a pleasure to work with. Their work is outstanding, and the are extremely organized and responsive. The project was on time and on budget. During the gut renovation, we found a surprise chimney in the second and third floor wall (it had been removed from the first only!) and the additional cost to remove this, while obviously not included in the original bid, was transparently and reasonably added. Marcello and Joe rapidly responded to many inquiries over email and text message. They were always very transparent and had great ideas for the project. It started with a visit of the existing bathrooms, and a general idea of how to configure the new bathrooms. Upon the gut renovation, we found a surprise chimney in the second and third floor, which though it had to be removed, they had great ideas for moving a wall and reconfiguring the adjoining bathrooms to a better layout for each. We also found that we had to alter part of the kitchen to get the half bath sink recessed into the wall. Joe single handedly redesigned the area of the kitchen, and it looks even better than before. They had great ideas and taste on how to arrange the general layout of the bathrooms. I unequivocally recommend Marcello's Renovations to anyone looking to do remodeling work.
Description of Work: We gut renovated two adjacent bathrooms on the second floor and converted a back staircase into a first floor half bath (which also meant reworking part of the kitchen), and while the bathroom ceiling was open we replaced the100 year old plumbing of a full bath above the two main ones. We also added a washer/dryer in the second floor bath and moved the wall separating the two by 1 foot (one was too big the other too small, so now they are both just right). We were so happy with the work of Marcello and his project manager Joe Bertola that we also repainted a hall way and two porches, and had some rotting wood on an outside porch repaired as well. The $58k is the demo and carpentry and tile work only; it does not include the ~$20k cost of the plumbing and electrical, nor the cost of the fixtures, tile and stone, or the new windows (though it includes the installation). Marcello has a plumber and electrician that he regularly works closely with (who were outstanding as well), and because they bill separately, there is no additional service fee charged by Marcello for the their work nor the finishes; this maintains transperency and keeps the overall cost down.

I emailed Marcello via his website. He contacted me within a couple of days. We scheduled a mutually agreeable time to meet at my new house, which I have not moved in yet. He emails me to cancel 30 minutes before we were suppose to meet. He could have at least called me. It takes me 30 minutes to drive to the new house. His reason was that he was sick for the last day or 2. I don't see why he could not have told me a day in advance. Telling me 30 minutes before the meeting is unprofessional. I emailed him back to schedule a new date and never heard back. I will take my money else where. I can't do business with someone that can't communicate or stick to their words.

I began by emailing Joe DaSilva at Marcello's back and forth. He was very prompt with his responses and scheduled an estimate very quickly. He estimated $500 for the work (no painting included) and came back within a few days to start. He came back a few more times to finish the work and make sure the plaster was sanded and smooth. He did a great job & even plastered some holes in my kitchen wall free of charge. I definitely recommend Marcello's and will use them in the future.

I emailed a request for an estimate on a Friday morning and that afternoon he agreed to come by the next day. He confirmed the issue (was thoughtful about sourcing it and considering other potential problems before jumping to conclusions) and was very accommodating to our schedule -- since we were going out of town he had the job underway by that Tuesday. His carpenter/supervisor Edson was early the day he started and extremely nice. Quick, quiet, and kept it incredibly clean. He actually made it look better than it did originally (the previous tenants were not the tidiest painters) by cleaning up the moulding and revarnishing it (it also had some water damage so was part of the project). Marcello had said it would take two days, but it broke down to three half days really, between taking out the ceiling/wall and making sure it was all dry, putting the ceiling/wall in place, then coming back to paint. His electrician was also incredibly prompt and nice. There was no water damage to the electrical, which Edson suspected. But I appreciated Marcello still wanted his electrician to confirm and he didn't charge us for that extra trip (the light did flicker, unrelated to the water damage, and the electrician Martin and his son fixed that and explained why so I could fix it myself the next time around). I would hire him again - the promptness of everyone on his team, trustworthiness, and their tidiness all great selling points.
Description of Work: Water damage repair to ceiling and wall in butler's pantry from upstairs neighbor's leaking fridge. Required removing ceiling and wall, checking electrical, putting in new drywall and ceiling and painting. Also fixed damage to moulding.

This was the best experience we have had with a contractor. There was nothing but punctuality, professionalism and efficiency being performed by Marcello and his crew. My wife and I have learned from previous experience about "hack" jobs, and were determined to find that perfect contractor to fill our needs of education upon services being performed, great quality, and professionalism. As we saw Marcello's reviews and web site, we were certain that we would like a consultation with him upon performing our blue board/drywall installation and plaster. The only thing missing to complete our "dream" contractor, is actually finding out how his customer service is. We sent Marcello an email requesting an estimate, and he got back to us that same day. He asked for the room's measurements, and we gave them to him, with pictures of the room. He immediately responded with an estimate. Next communication was about when he will be available to perform the work, which was that same weekend. The one thing that my wife and I were so happy about is the fact that he asked about proper permits being pulled, (which we did). In our previous experience the people who were working in our home did not stress about permits, and continue to perform work, which we all know is a big NO NO. We set up an appointment to have the work done on Monday 5/14/12. Marcello came, exactly the time frame he gave us, and immediately he began to notice things that not even the inspector pointed out. (which by the way worries us about the inspector). Well, in all, we have definitely found our guy for our future home renovations. He was very professional, and that is what makes a good strong business. We couldn't be more happy with the results. The guys cleaned up after themselves very well and got the job done the same day.

Marcello listens to the customer and is very responsive to each & every concern. What's more, he solicited our feedback all along the way on this 2-week project. And as with any renovation, there were changes on the fly which he accommodated. He's very calm when interacting with the customer and his crew. He's well connected with other trades as required for a project too. Dust remediation could have been better is our only complaint, but they worked hard to clean-up every day, and even sent a guy back to help clean up areas outside the construction zones. He's also got a very polite, respectful, and hardworking crew, not typical of the trades. It was a pleasure to have a crew show-up when they said they would, and do what they said they were going to do. We are planning our next project!

I live in a historic district, so there is additional scrutiny by the town to make sure that any exterior work maintains the look and feel of the house. Mr. Laurindo was very courteous and accommodating of my work schedule. He provided a reasonable estimate for the work. He estimated the work would require two days, and he was as good as his word. His associates arrived promptly, worked diligently and quietly, and left the area as clean as when they had started. I had mentioned to him that I was disappointed that the original woodwork had rotted so quickly. His associates waterproofed their work, which made me happy. In the end, the finished porch looked exactly like the original porch before it was damaged. At all times, Mr. Laurindo was professional, straightforward, and easy to deal with. He appears to have a good team. I would consider him first for our next project.

Dear Customer, Thanks so much for the very positive report on Angie's List. We really appreciate it. I contacted Marcello by email based upon the Angie's List Service award that his company (deservedly) received. Marcello was very responsive, gave us options for a repair or demolition and rebuild of our bathroom shower. Work was started soon after the quote was given. After the demolition was compete, it was apparent that the shower could be extended. Marcello gave us a reasonable amended quote to extend the shower, so we decided to proceed with the updated work plan. The end result was outstanding. We found Marcello and his crew to be responsive, personable and courteous, and the work to be of very high quality.
Description of Work: Bathroom shower stall with a leaky bottom was demolished and rebuilt. Shower was extended by about 1 foot in one dimension. Work included completely new tile and a new shower door.

The exceptional aspect of the service was the timeline- Marcello was extremely fast in doing the job. I noticed water dripping from my ceiling due to a water problem from an apartment above mine on Saturday March 17, and I was frantic because I had to prepare my apartment for an open house the following weekend. On Monday March 19 I emailed Marcello, and he responded back to me on Tuesday March 20. By Wednesday at 7:30am he had two guys at my apartment. They completed the work by Friday March 21 two days ahead of my deadline. The work was good quality, and everything was cleaned and put away by the end of each day. The project manager, Joe Bartola oversaw every aspect of the work and was very professional and communicative through the entire project. I would definitely hire Marcello's renovations in the future.
Description of Work: Services performed were: -determine source of water damage in bathroom beneath drywall -removal of damaged drywall -replace drywall and bath faucet -replace grout, sealant -paint

Marcello's Renovations was highly recommended from my neighborhood last summer. We set up a meeting with Marcello to go over all of our Construction and Renovations ideas we had in mind and it was a very large list.Marcello shows up before the time in all our meetings and the date/time to start the project.Begin of the project Marcello introduced Nilson the job site supervisor and carpenter. He is a nice person and JOB QUALITY WAS TOP NOT, very clean we were able to come home everyday and our home was cleaner then we left in the morning.Marcello checked the job site every week keeping us updated and asking us to call him if we had any concerns. We used just call him in a minute he was calling us back to answer any question or concerns we had and make sure we were comfortable with the construction process.Marcello and he's supervisor use to ask us everyday if there was something that we dont like so he could make sure we were 110% happy with the entire project process.MR did a great job and made our dreams home come true from the begin untill the end of the Construction with high end quality.Unfortunately we had some problems with building inspectors shows up to several inspections, Marcello advised us before start the project and we totally undesrtood that it was out of Marcello's control.I will recommend MR for everyone that are looking for the Best to your home.No wonder why they are THE BEST BOSTON CONTRACTOR OF 2011 ON ANGIE'S LIST .If you are planning to hire Marcello's Renovations Please dont think twice and do fast as you can because i am not sure if they will be available for 2012 or 2013.

We are extremely pleased with the work of Marcello?s Renovations. We initially hired him to repair the front porch of our house--a 1890s vintage Queen Anne Victorian, which we have been restoring for a number of years. Fifteen years ago we enlarged the porch, but over the last 5 years virtually all of the wooden railings, balusters and posts had rotted to the point of crumbling and falling off. Because this was unsightly as well as being a safety issue, we decided to have it repaired and requested quotes from three highly-rated Angie's List contractors for the work. We also had a number of other repairs in mind, but wanted to keep the initial scope of work limited to the porch. We selected Marcello's Renovations (I?ll use ?MR?) based on the company's versatility, flexibility, price, and because during the extended preliminary discussions, I appreciated Marcello?s professional perspective on the work to be done and the depth of his knowledge. I wanted to work with a contractor who had the versatility to cover the full range of services we?d require, including rebuilding, painting, custom woodworking, gutter repair, structural repairs, and masonry repairs as well as the flexibility to make changes on the fly or alter the course as unforeseen problems surfaced . All three quotes were within range, but it would be hard to compare overall since we kept adding things that were not in our original scope of work. In the end, we felt that the price was very reasonable--even somewhat lower than we expected, especially considering we upgraded a number of materials. Here are some highlights of the job: After watching the wood from the previous porch remodel slowly disintegrate, I finally realized that the culprit was the type of wood that was used (note to home owners: ?kiln dried Western hemlock? is not a good choice for New England porches!). After some research, we decided to use Western Red Cedar to rebuild the porch, a much more durable and weather-appropriate material. Marcello was able to get turned balusters and columns to perfectly match the existing style that we liked. However, matching newel posts were not available anywhere, but Marcello said ?no problem? and bought blank (square) stock and had them turned to match the originals, and the resulting posts were even nicer! (He also had blocks decoratively turned to support the long railing runs, instead of using cut-off pieces of 2x4, as is usually done.) The finished porch looks fantastic (see pix). The mahogany decking was also in need of repair in places, as were the trim boards, and the sections of the skirt in contact with the ground were disintegrating. Marcello recommended Azek molding instead of wood for those areas in direct contact with the ground or that would take a beating from the weather, and despite my initial concern about it being ?fake wood?, after installation and painting it is totally indistinguishable from the real thing?but with the added benefit that I will not have to worry about these parts rotting again. In addition, after replacing several damaged deck boards with matching mahogany, he had the entire deck sanded (at no extra charge) before staining, because he felt the stain would penetrate more uniformly and prevent the new boards from looking different than the old ones. The wood gutters around the porch were a mess. I knew that replacing wood with wood would be expensive, but I was not very enthusiastic about the alternative of using aluminum, especially on the front of our period house. Marcello?s associate William suggested the possibility of using copper, which I had not even considered, but he pointed out that only relatively short lengths of gutter would be required to cover the porch. Even after adding additional copper sections and downspouts to complete the front and sides of the house, the quote for all this work was surprisingly reasonable and likely not much higher than wood. For the back of the house, we used painted aluminum where it is less noticeable. In the end, the upgrade was cost-effective?it had the benefit of enhancing the appearance of the house while being a lot lower maintenance compared to wood. We also had a problem with many of the window sills, which had also been slowly disintegrating, the worst being held together with duct tape (did I mention that we enlarged the original scope of work?!). Marcello?s carpenters cut out the rotted sections and carefully inserted new pieces into the frames, without having to do any interior work. The finished results are excellent and look completely new. Next, I discussed the possibility of replacing our ancient and ineffective storm windows, but I did not like the look or quality of the replacement storms I had seen in the big box hardware stores or in my own on-line research. Marcello pulled out his iPad and showed me a few better quality storms which I had not considered before and then e-mailed me the links for more details. We ultimately replaced all the old storms with new low-E ones at a very reasonable cost. MR also expertly repaired the wooden exterior window trim molding where needed during installation. The results were again excellent. One final example: I also asked MR about replacing our old and rotting 32-panel two-car garage door and to fix the trim that was sagging above the door. He found that out that that particular door was no longer available and that the closest replacement model would be quite expensive. As an alternative, he said he could disassemble the door, replace the broken MDO panels with marine-grade plywood panels, and then re-assemble the door, which we agreed to. After the carpentry was completed and the door re-painted, it now the ancient door looks brand new. The sagging door frame turned out to be a more serious problem: after his crew pulled off the molding and trim, Marcello showed me that a previous owner must have sawed off a load-bearing support: an ?inexpensive? method of turning a two-door garage into a single-door, two-car opening. Needless to say, this was not a good idea, structurally. MR replaced the botched door frame header with a substantial ?glu-lam? beam that now runs the full length of the front of the garage and that is properly supported at the ends. Needless to say, no more sagging (or possibility of unforeseen surprise when opening the door!). In summary, my wife and I are extremely pleased with Marcello?s Renovations. Marcello is a great contractor to work with, easy-going and responsive to all of our questions and concerns and last minute requests or changes. Although we started with a relatively simple front porch renovation, we ended up taking care of a number of old house issues that had been bothering us for a while (and a few we didn?t even know about) because we had confidence in Marcello?s judgment and workmanship. We spent more than we had originally intended, but we got extremely good value for our money. When we look at our house now we feel happy and extremely fortunate to have found Marcello?s Renovations.

Overall, it went extremely well. Marcello was timely for the initial appointment where he assessed the damage and gave his time frame for when the job could be done. This appointment was on a Friday and I had the quote by the following Monday. We were happy with his quote and decided to schedule for the following week. Marcello was prompt for his appt and it was easy to set up the work with him and his team. The job took less than a day and a half and they were extremely professional and kept the mess very well contained. They put up plastic on all the doorways to keep dust contained and cleaned thoroughly when the job was complete. I couldn't have been more pleased with the job they did. Should we ever need additional work done on our house, Marcello will definitely be on the list for quotes we would obtain.
Description of Work: We had a leaking pipe from an upstairs bathroom that left water damage to the office area below. There was a large hole in the ceiling that needed to be repaired as well as the wall below that area removed to ensure no further water damage. We had the ceiling repaired/patched as well as had the wall torn out and then replaced.

I emailed Marcello's on Sunday and the crown molding was up by Tuesday. I never though my little job would be a priority for Marcello's Renovations. I am very pleased at the workmanship and customer service. I would use them again in a heart beat. Thank you, Marcello, and his project manger Joe for making my life so much easier.

Marcello and his employees did excellent work. They went above and beyond to make sure we were completely happy with the work. They communicated clearly and addressed all of our concerns along the way. Marcello was very responsive. They were cleaner and more conscientious than any other contractor I've ever worked with. They are masterful carpenters at the peak of their trade and do incredible work. The price was very fair. The fact that they are intent on making sure you are satisfied really means you can't go wrong with Marcello. We really appreciated his awareness and conscientious actions down to small things like taking off his shoes when entering our home to discuss the project, or presenting us with a gift of Brazilian chocolates around the holidays. It is so incredibly rare to find this level of thoughtfulness with contractors that it was a real treat working with Marcello. But of course, the main point, is they do excellent work, and will make sure your satisfied, so you just can't go wrong. In fact, I would recommend, don't make a mistake and use someone else. If you have to wait for Marcello because he has a full schedule, then wait. You won't be sorry.
Description of Work: We had to rip out all of the bamboo flooring in a finished basement because it was glued down without a underlayment of any kind or poly which created a mold problem. We put down poly, then underlayment, then new bamboo floating floor. To do this right so it looked very nice required removing and subsequently replacing all baseboards (which other bidding contractors refused to do and insisted on using quarter-round). We also asked Marcello to install a dehumidifier, remove some shelving from storage rooms (which was nailed in place), and he kindly removed rubble from a previous project.

Unlike several other contractors, Marcello responded promptly to my initial email. Scheduling a time to meet and discuss the project was easy. Marcello arrived at the agreed upon time and very patiently listened as I went through the list of improvements we wanted to make. I had no idea how much these things would cost. After going through the list, he asked some questions, and took the appropriate measurements. He told me to expect an estimate shortly. The estimate arrived within days and was far more detailed than I had expected. He didn't just give us a number, for example, for the kitchen. Included in that number were separate estimates for the stove installation, the backsplash, painting the walls, redoing the floor and repainting the cabinets. The same went for all parts of the project. Some of the ceiling repairs were related to a leak in the roof for which our condo association was responsible. A separate estimate for this portion was also included. When I had questions about the estimate, Marcello was always very quick to reply. He and his crew came by a few more times before the work started to review the details. We arranged to have the work done while we were away. We have two kids under 3 and thought the better of trying to live in a work in progress. In determining how much work we did, cost was one consideration. The other one was timing. We wanted the contractors to be able to finish as much as possible while we were away. When the time arrived, we handed over the keys and got on the plane . . . While we were away we didn't here anything from the crew, which we took as a good sign. Our neighbors texted us that the crew arrived early in the morning and often stayed quite late in the evening. They also worked over the weekend, were quiet, courteous and didn't make a mess. We were nervous with excitement when we opened the front door late in the night after a long flight. Everything looked great. The ceilings no longer sagged, the cabinets looked brand new, the walls were smooth. The work was about 90% done. Things looked even better the following morning in the daylight. Clearly a great deal of attention had been paid to the details. Later that day -- it was a Sunday -- Marcello and his crew were back to finish up the job. They were extremely apologetic about not having finished before our return. Over the next day and a half, they worked long hours to get the job done. There were, of course, the last few details. Marcello kept asking if we had any other concerns, because he wanted us to be 110% satisfied. He came back to readjust the cabinet doors so they would hang just right, and to install some lighting fixtures that arrived after the work was done. All of this was very easy to coordinate. We have been extremely pleased with the work Marcello and his crew did. They did exactly what they said they would do, paid attention to the details, and came in within budget. They operate in an extremely organized, professional manner, and I would recommend them without any reservations. When we have future work to do in our apartment, there is no question who will be doing it.
Description of Work: We hired Marcello to do a number of renovations that were long overdue. These included replacing/resurfacing old ceiling in our living room, dining room and hall, repairing a number of large cracks in our plaster walls, installing multiple light fixtures, removing wallpaper and repainting the kitchen, living room, dining room, pantry and hallway, installing a new kitchen range and ventilation hood, removing and replacing the kitchen backsplash, and repainting all of our kitchen cabinets.
