The only thing that I didn't like was that they could not adjust to my time frame to get an estimate and work for lighting. Otherwise, I think their work is fine and their price is fair.

I first attempted to contact them via their website (which wasn't successful); they finally returned my call after my second call and from then on all went very well. A service call was scheduled in two days and the technician (Gregg) was friendly, professional, and very informative. He serviced our system and cleaned up; everything is now working fine. We would definitely hire them again; we've actually asked them for an estimate for installing A/C in our home.
Description of Work: Keyes North Atlantic serviced our gas forced water heating system (four zones) and we signed up for their maintenance plan.

The technician from Keyes was exactly on time and spent about 90 minutes at the job. The exhaust test required drilling a hole in the exhaust line (which is now sealed with tape) which was a bit disconcerting. It makes the CO detector in the basement seem like a better idea. The original estimate was for $120 + the price of the humidifier wick. The final bill was for $160 but there was no breakdown to know why the final bill was higher ($40 seems high for a wick).
Description of Work: Seasonal preventive maintains on our gas furnace and humidifier. The job included cleaning the humidifier, replacing the furnace filters and humidifier wick, and generally inspected the furnace. The inspection included a test of the exhaust gases to check the combustion and efficiency.

He also gave me incorrect information, 1) That a crane would charge 1000 to put the heating system on the roof, and when I spoke with others they said it would only be a few hundred 2)Told me that if they performed the work by replacing only part of it, the manufacturer would not honor the warranty on the part that they would replace, which I found out later was absolutely not true. Then they never got back to me, and they were always slow in calling back.
Description of Work: No work was performed. I asked them to evaluate my heating system. They were polite and sent a technician who diagnosed my heating system. A specialist/engineer came to look at the work site. The price was almost three times higher than everybody else quoted.

Gail Collins was very nice and professional on the phone, and we set up an appointment for October 9. The Keyes rep came at the appointed hour, and I made it very clear that speed was of the essence, because the condo had to make a decision very soon. After waiting for an estimate for ten days, I finally called Gail for an explanation. She said that the estimator was swamped with work (presumably he knew that when he did the estimate), but did I still want the estimate? I said no, because it was too late at that point. Once again she was very professional and properly apologetic, but the fact remains: they failed. Incidentally, I called them on the strength of their rating with Angie's List.

The first technician to come was a little late, about 1/2 hour after the window they had given. He spent a few hours cleaning and servicing the very old boiler, and then spent a while pointing out to me why we would need a new boiler very soon. He showed us various safety issues, but said that we could take our chances through this winter. We had decided to get a full service contract through the company, but because of the state of the boiler, the company would only give us a basic contract, which we thought was reasonable, though we wished we had signed on for their extended service agreement before having the inspection! Unfortunately, when we tried to turn on the heat for the first time, it would not work. The second service person, who was sent the same afternoon that I called, told me that there was a wire jammed, which could have happened when the first person replaced the cover. He told me that there would be no charge for the visit.

I knew I had to eventually replace a tenant's boiler and called for an estimate. They provided one. I was temporarily living in CA and we played phone tag to answer some questions. Well, I did not get around to replacing the boiler and my sister had to deal with it 9 months later while he were now temporarily living in England. They provided good service and quick response. I then had some follow up questions but it was very difficult getting someone to answer them.

The representative did a very detailed estimate. He also brought up some possible issues. He was concerned with doing the job right, but it might have been overkill. The price was significantly higher than the next highest estimate I received.

Very prompt and professional. Their estimate arrived 1 week later and was roughly double that of the two other estimates I received. I waited to file this report until I saw the quality of the cheaper work, which was actually better than Keyes proposed work. Keyes said I had to stay along the outer wall or it would be even more expensive! Other company did the inner wall (the one I wanted) for half the price. Keyes' estimate was way out of line for the scope of this job (2 hours start to finish).
Description of Work: I requested an estimate for "wall fishing" a cable line from basement to third floor bedroom.

Initially there was difficulty in getting my calls returned and in getting a quote (but I'm sure it's their busiest time of the year). This belied the very high level of professionalism evidenced in planning, estimating and executing the work. The technician (Rick) who did the planning and estimate seemed very knowledgeable and trustworthy. I never got any sense of his trying to oversell me, which I did get with the two other companies we consulted. The installers (David & Madison)were exceptionally efficient, clean, informative, and courteous and their work looks to be of the highest caliber.

They were nice enough to provide a rough cost guestimate over the phone of $5000-$6000 based on the square footage of my house (single story, approx. 2200 sq. ft.) because they had recently done a similar house. This gave me a number for the sake of comparing with other bids. If they had been available this summer, I definitely would have asked them for a proposal and possibly would have chosen them.
Description of Work: I wanted them to install central airconditioning, but they are completely ''pre-sold'' for this summer. They offer a 10% discount for off-season (Jan.-Apr.) installation, which requires a $200 advance deposit.

Even though I sent the email on a Friday afternoon right before the Fourth of July holiday, they contacted me the same day and left a detailed message. The woman who called was very honest and told me they didn't have any openings until the fall, but also mentioned they have an off-season discount. I appreciated the follow up and the prompt service; if I hadn't been in such a hurry I probably would have used them.

After some difficulty with the technician being at the house at the designated time, arrangements were made for a second fellow to do the job. He (Mike) was terrific. Very thorough and very patient in explaining the systems and the appropriate considerations for replacement related to age and efficiency. An excellent experience.
Description of Work: Annual maintenance of A/C and Boiler. Since this is a new home, we also asked to be educated about the systems.

They came promptly for the estimate and the estimate came about a week later in the mail. The guy who came was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave lots of helpful suggestions. I had already chosen another electrician before the estimate came, but Keyes had the highest estimate. Now, after the work has been completed, I know that their estimate was the closest to the actual price that I ended up paying. So although I did not choose them for service, I think that they are very knowledgeable, have good service, and are a good company.
Description of Work: I got an estimate for a good amount of work from Keyes - installing 2 new recessed lights, installing a new electrical plate and switches/dimmers, installing an entryway light, 2 pendant lights.

Keyes was prompt in scheduling someone to come out with a few hours of when I called for service and arrived at the scheduled time. Carl was a pleasant guy and took the time to explain what the problem was and how he was going to fix it. He also stayed around to make sure everything was running properly after it was back up.

Keyes was the last of about six quotes I'd received. Rick showed up on time and I was relieved right away to find a down-to-earth individual that didn't waste my time with mindless babble. Very professional, took several notes and answered all of my questions. They were by far the best deal considering the furnace model they quoted was one step up from most of the other more expensive quotes. The other positive reviews I'd read about Keyes and my gut feeling were major deciding factors. I'm extremely pleased with the end result--there's nothing about the completed project that looks rushed through, yet they finished within the estimated time frame. All of the new hardware installations, including the condensate pump, CO detector, silicone seal, etc. look perfect, and not a spec of trash was left behind. As of this writing, I've had the Lennox G61 working flawlessly for over 5 months and the efficiency is unbelievable compared to the old jalopy.
Description of Work: Keyes No. Atlantic replaced my 45+ year old gas-fired furnace with a new gas-fired Lennox G61. They ran new PVC flue piping from the furnace to the exterior of the house. They connected the new furnace to the existing gas piping, electrical, and adapted it to the existing duct system.

This was worth the price of Angie's list! Appeared promptly with written estimate given within couple of days. Phoned when they were going to be late, apologized profusely. Work was done in a competent and timely manner. Would call them first if I ever need electrician. Very, very pleased with them.
Description of Work: Replaced a number of fixtures in an old 2-family house (had been previously told could not be replaced). Also removed an electrical unit from bathroom and installed one outlet inside and one on the outside of house as well as installation of additional light in basement.
