I was referred to Mike by a few of my friends who has had work done by him. Everyone has been satisfied and i can't be happier. He came to give me an estimate on time which was much cheaper than the other 3 estimate i got. He told me when the work would be done by and it was done by that date. I also asked them if they can put down some poly in a few other places not related to the job which they were more than happy to do. I would defitnitely use them again and refer them to everyone who needs there floors done.

Mike came to the house and gave an estimate (spot on and reasonable), and showed up as planned. He got the work done as scheduled and met with us on the last day to go over all he'd done. He was friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend him.

Before I had access to Angie's list, I called some flooring companies. This was one of them. They came out the day after I called to give an estimate. Even though Mike was friendly, knowledgeable and had a very competitive price, I decided not to go with Universal Hardwood Flooring because a friend introduced me to Angie's list just after their estimate. We called some A-rated places and got more estimates. We found one that was on-par with Universal's price. Since they had an A-rating we decided to go with the Angie's list contractor. Everything was going smoothly. They ordered and delivered the wood. However, the day before install was suppose to start we got a call. There was a mis-communication and the workers that were suppose to help would not be available to start for 6 more days. My heart jumped into my throat. The floors would not be ready for our move-in and the moving date could not change. He apologized profusely and tried to find replacements. We paid him for the wood and started brainstorming. I called Universal back the next morning and explained our time crunch. Mike said he could start the next day. He came back to meet that night for keys, review of the job, and to see the wood purchased. Every question I asked, he answered. Any work I asked him to do, he said that he would make sure it was done right. At the end of their first day of work, I checked in on their progress. To my amazement, the entire second floor was installed. They already removed all our doors (including closets), removed baseboard, installed and patched the unfinished hardwood, and then replaced the baseboard. Could this project actually be going on track? Two days later and the job was finished with a coat of sealer, and two coats of polyurethane. So fast! Not to mention the floors were gorgeous. These were the easiest contractors I've ever dealt with. On top of it, they looked at our 1st flr hardwood floors when giving an estimate. They had just been refinished, but the people (not Angie's list recommended) didn't do a good job. He offered to put an extra coat on those floors while doing the 2nd floor. He even fixed some obvious scratches on the 1st Floor when he was working on it. They now look much better with just that extra coat. Two days after they completed the job, the floors were dry enough to walk on. We met with Mike and reviewed the job. He re-hung the doors for us with his brother and we paid him. He charged less than his original quote. He had over-estimated the actual sq ft (by 40 sq ft) to make sure he had enough supplies, and re-measured it before working on it to give us an exact price. I'm sure there are plenty of contractors out there that treat customers so well. After 3 very disappointing experiences with other contractors in a row (painting, flooring, & general handy-work), Mike and his team were a wonderful breath of fresh air. I could not be happier with the entire process, especially the end result.
