I could not have asked for a better experience. Mike was patient and extremely informative. He even gave us a book on proper home maintenance!

Mr. Mike, from J May Home Inspection, was on time and spent 5 hrs inspecting the house. He was very thorough and explained every issue patiently to us. I highly recommend him and will definitely use him again.

Mike showed up on time (even a little bit early). He was extremely thorough, taking his time, methodically going room to room, and was extremely informative along the way, pointing out several areas of concern and offering suggestions on how each problem could be resolved. He has a very calm demeanor and a nice personality. Mike spent 3 hours doing his inspection and had a full written report back to my sister at the end of the following day - just like he said he would. He also stated that if there were any further questions to just call him back - my sister did call him a couple of days later, and he returned her call promptly. My husband and I, along with my sister would definitely hire him again, and also would highly recommend him to our friends and family. He is quite knowledgeable and experienced in his trade.

Mike Atwell of J. May Home Inspections performed an inspection of the condo we are buying on Nov. 22, 2011. The inspection was very detailed, thorough, and professional. I walked around with Mike and really learned a lot about how the various systems work. He answered all my questions, provided me with an emailed copy of the results within 24 hours of the inspection, and a paper copy a few days later. He even reduced the quoted price by $ 50.00 since the inspection took less time than anticipated. All in all he did a terrific job and I would definitely hire him again.

He looked at everything and found minor repairs and major flaws. I pulled out of the sale after the information provided by him, which I had in less than 24 hrs. I am grateful that he was so diligent.

Mike Atwell performed an extremely thorough home inspection, and then thoroughly documented it in a comprehensive report.

Mike is an outstanding inspector who did a careful, thorough job examining both the outside and the inside of the house. He spent approximately five hours on the inspection and was extremely focused throughout the process. His comprehensive, detailed report serves as a ready reference when we need information and recommendations regarding upkeep of the property. We've also use it as a guide when talking with contractors about work that we'd like done. This was the second house that Mike inspected for us, and the one we ultimately bought. He evidently had good recall of the previous house, which he had inspected four months earlier, because he was able to compare some of the features of both properties, expressing more confidence in the one we ended up purchasing. The neighbors were amazed at the length of the inspection and the thoroughness of his work, and expressed regret that their own inspector hadn't come anywhere near his level of professionalism. Mike is a terrific guy and a very competent professional who excels at his work!

He was punctual, professional and pleasant. He was just good to work with. He was responsive and I was really confident when I bought the place because he did a really good job. He was very thorough and I felt a lot of confidence which was the point in hiring a home inspector.

Mr. Mike was the one who came over to our place. He came on time and did a very detailed inspection of the inside and outside of the house. I was very satisfied with the detail and the quality of his end report.

We were extremely pleased the the service Michael provided as our inspector. He is extremely professional, detail oriented, and comprehensive. Our real estate agent and that of the buyer were both surprised as the time he devoted and detail he pursued in the inspection. Michael really went the extra mile, figuring out how to get into an attic crawl space to look for leaks. He was very patient and clear in his ability to explain technical and mechanical things to us--and we have little prior experience with home renovation and repair. We also felt that Michael provided a very balanced review of the home. It was built 125 years ago and certainly has many needs--Michael was not alarmist. He was skilled at helping us to contextualize the concerns in the home and in the report, he helped to point out the priority repairs for the first year. We were able to successfully use his report in further negotiations with the sellers. Michael is extremely polite and easy to work with. His written report is clear and easy to follow. We spoke with five inspectors in determining who to hire. We found Michael's price to be the second highest of those we spoke to. The lower priced inspectors did not inspire my confidence in our phone conversations and I am very happy that we went with Michael.

I highly recommend Mike Atwell. He inspected our new home and was very thorough. He climbed up onto the roof and checked the shingles and chimney. He also identified some things which previous inspectors had not found. He spent time walking us through his observations and suggestions, provided an early report summary by e-mail which was soon followed by a mailed report. The report also ranked the findings in terms of their priority which was useful to us. He is very professional, friendly and knows what he is talking about.

Great! Mike spent over 3 hours inspecting exterior, interior, basement and roof. Very very through. Prevented me from making a BIG mistake.

We were very happy with how thorough Mike was. He crawled into every crawlspace he could find and has an eye for things that I would never have thought to look at. For example he noticed that moisture was getting under the siding due to improperly sealed installed window frame because there was a tiny discoloration of paint that I could hardly see when he showed it to me. Watching Mike work is like watching some kind of a house detective work a crime scene. After the inspection Mike answered all our questions with patience and understanding. I would recommend him for a home inspection to anyone considering a purchase.

Exterior inspection completed first. Could not access the roof or attic, however the roof was brand new and everything looked well in order. Interior inspection was next, including the basement. Everything was checked, even if it was just a loose doorknob. The report is very thorough and complete. Recommendations and suggestions were provided on the more important repairs and updates, and suggestions made on how to keep things in good shape moving forward. Very pleased with all of the solid information I received.

VERY THOROUGH, LOW KEY AND POLITE .

We needed a home inspection before signing P&S. The house was built in 1900. Because it was such an old house, we wanted a very detail house inspection. Mike was the best home inspector we've ever had. By the time we were there, he already started inspecting the exterior of the house. The whole inspection lasted about 5 hours. He was very detail and thorough. He found out there were structural problems with the house and we eventually withdrew the offer. We were very glad to have Mike so we did not walk into trouble. He was very patient and professional. The inspection report (10 pages) outlined all the issues that needed to be addressed. We learned so much from Mike. Buying a house is a big investment. House inspection is to protect buyers. There are many lousy inspectors who charge $300 but really did nothing. Mike's work worth every penny.

Mike was hands down the very best home inspector I have ever used. Would highly recommend him to anyone. He did a very thorough job, picked up on all issues related to the home, made recommendations for another specialist to review and even went the extra step to follow-up with them and I after this additional inspection work was performed by the specialist. Definitely willing to go the extra mile - came out to re-inspect after the previous homeowner had other contractors perform the fixes I required (based on Mike's report) prior to final purchase. Did this work free of charge! He even returns my calls several months after the inspection when I have questions on the home or need a recommendation for an electrician or plumber. I was very pleased with Mike's work and would not hesitate to use him again.

We had a great experience working with Mike and J. May Home Inspections. Due to a tight timeline with the seller, Mike graciously agreed to meet us on a holiday and conducted a comprehensive exterior inspection, despite two feet of fresh snow and 20 degree weather. Once inside the house, Mike was methodical and thorough, as we moved from room to room and checked all of the home?s systems. It is very important to mention that not only is Mike an extremely professional and competent inspector, but he is also great at explaining technical issues in an easy to understand fashion. We used Mike Atwell for inspection on a house we're considering purchasing. This is our second experience with Mike, and he epitomizes the term "thorough home inspection." Mike arrives at the job early, and is assessing the property prior to the appointment time. He methodically goes through each area of the house, exterior and interior, then summarizes the good/bad features in each area. Mike also takes the time to explain how various elements of a house work, or are supposed to work--like what proper roof ventilation is, or what proper furnace pressure is and why this is important. He also takes the time to explain the proper way something can be repaired. The house we are considering buying had a previous termite problem, and although we'd had a separate pest inspection, Mike uncovered additional damage that the pest guy hadn't described to us. Mike doesn't rush, he spends whatever time is needed to complete the inspection thoroughly. His final report is thorough and detailed to a granular level, and he's available for questions afterward. We trust Mike Atwell completely and recommend him without reservation.
