This was my first time using Forsythe Plumbing, and they will definitely be my go-to plumbers from now on. Forsythe Plumbing is a top notch company. I liked that I was called about 45 minutes in advance, so I was able get home to meet them. James and Keith arrived promptly. They were both clearly competent and knowledgeable about their craft. They were also extremely polite, pleasant, and patient, as I kept surprising them with unscheduled new requests. They were friendly and pleasant, but they did not waste time. They performed each task quickly and efficiently. Every job they did in my house was first rate. I was thoroughly satisfied.

They were courteous and professional. They removed the old toilet and installed the new one quickly and quietly. They also removed marks from the tiles (from the old base) without being asked. I had got a compettive quote and I thought that their price was reasonable.

Initially called for advice on a water heater problem (which James provided) and for a repair on a broken outdoor faucet. The faucet repair was done quickly and professionally during the visit. I liked the fact that the pricing was based on a flat-rate manual rather than as a guess--no surprises.

Craig is honest, upfront and knowledgeable. We called him for a house we recently purchased, as we needed to redo plumbing of the whole kitchen, as well as an adjoining bathroom. He also advised that we added shutoff valves to our bathroom faucet, which we agreed to. Craig delivered on his promise of quality, and also finished the job on time - needless to say, we were very impressed! The icing on the cake was about 11 months later, we thought we spotted a leak near the bathtub that only occurs after long showers. We called Craig and he immediately arranged to come down a couple of days later. He spent an hour with us, testing all the scenarios in which the leak might have occured, but was unable to replicate the leak. Eventually, he figured that it must be our non-water-resistant shower curtain that was wicking the water from splashes on the bathtub onto the ground. We were embarassed, but even more so when he refused to charge us for his time! We definitely recommend him very highly!

He came to the house and looked at the job. Later emailed, " I appreciate you giving us the opportunity to quote on your valve replacements. Unfortunately we are going to have to pass on this job." No response to question why.

Two people showed up in 20 minutes. They immediately were able to shut off the leaks. Then they went over the options clearly to get the house water supply up and running. They spent over 3 hours continuously on the project. Everything was fixed, work was done neatly and cleanly. They also did a few other things to improve the efficacy of the heater that were not required of them but helped us greatly. Overall I was greatly impressed with their responsiveness, speed of arrival in such an an emergency, and prompt fixing of the problems at hand. I know nothing about plumbing costs but sum was very reasonable especially given emergency of situation. Would not hesitate to use them for all future projects.

Excellent experience. Craig is a pleasure to work with and exceptionally professional. His crew did a great job with high attention to detail. We have a new plumber!

Forsythe came in to provide a quote and were able to do the work on the spot in just a couple of hours.

A plumber (James) and assistant (Keith) arrived during the appointed hour. James removed the old faucet and installed the faucet I had purchased (Kohler), saying it was good quality. Then, James came to get me to "look at something," which was a broken pipe connector going from the sink drain to the drain pipe, so that the drain pipe was no longer tight to the drain. He also said the sink drain was cracked and was leaking (which was installed within the last 5 years). At this point, there was nothing I could do , so I had them replace the drain and fastener, and the short (3") piece of connector pipe. This was $195.00! Both jobs together took less than an hour, including two trips to their truck to write up the cost of the services. My complaints: First, there was nothing wrong with the drain. They MADE it fail, so there would be additional work to do. The drain is a good foot away from the faucet, and they had no reason even to be looking at it! In addition, once James had me come look at it, everything was broken and thus HAD to be replaced. This is a scam that auto shops used to do, get things so torn apart that you had no choice but for them to go ahead with the repairs if you wanted to drive your car home that day. Secondly, a fixed price for each service, instead of hours & materials, is another scam. I bet if they had had to spend extra time, they would have charged me for it. So I had an hour's worth of work, essentially of one man, that cost nearly $400. This is unconscionable. And -- I specifically chose them because of their Angie's List A rating for price AND for service. I would NOT recommend them, and hope that Angie's List will pursue a complaint against them. The work I asked for should have been about $100; and the drain and connector pipe the same amount. Disgraceful business practices. If anyone does use them, they should not leave them alone to "create" additional work when no one is looking.

I wish Angie's list could let me give an A+ Craig installed a new boiler and water heater for our lodging (fraternity) house. His quote was by far the most detailed of the 5 we received and had the best price (5K lower then the next best option). Upgrading from oil to gas heat is apparently a fairly complicated process and Craig handled almost every step of it. First off, we needed a new gas line and meter from National Grid to supply enough gas for heating. Having called NG myself several times and consistently getting answering machines after being transferred from person to person, Craig called several days in a row and finally drove to their headquarters and got them to do the work. He researched rebates and got us $1000 back that I wouldn't have found on my own for upgrading to a 95% efficient boiler, and also got us a discount by buying the boiler from NG instead of through normal supply routes, after which he decreased the price listed on his quote accordingly. He looked through 10 different oil reclaiming companies to find the lowest price because our old oil supplier wouldn't take back the 'used' oil remaining in the tanks. Because of a failure of communication on my part, he underspecified us on an indirect water heater. During the installation, he upgraded us to a bigger, better one at no charge. His work crew put in long hours, around 12/ day for the week of the installation to get the job done quicker, even though we had sufficient hot water due to the temporary heater. They were very polite, willing to explain any step of the process they were doing, and helpful in figuring out how to use the new system. He left our house even cleaner than he found it. The quality of the installation was fantastic, the Brookline building inspectors were even impressed with it. After the installation we called him back to adjust the shower temperatures which were too low with the new water heater, and has been very helpful the times I have called him, even at 11pm on a saturday night when there was a problem with the boiler (which wasn't actually a real problem). One time when I had to go to work late because he was doing a check at the house before the installation he even drove me there so I didn't have to take 3 times as long on the T. I guess what I'm trying to convey here is that Craig and his employees deserve A's or better in every category. Overall, I can't recommend Forsythe enough. He went above and beyond the call of duty in every aspect of the job and far exceeded my expectations and hopes.

I have used Forsythe in the past and have always been pleased with their work and their customer service. Today I had a new sink and faucet installed. When the plumbers arrived they discovered that the faucet did not have the right drain assembly for my pedestal sink (I had bought the faucet off the shelf at Home Depot). Since I had bought all the other bathroom accessories in brushed nickel I wanted to stick with that but none of supply places he called carried the part. I wanted the work done right away and not have them special order and return at a later date. James suggested it would be easier to buy a new faucet which I agreed to. He had to call several supply places before he found one that carried what I needed. He was very honest in telling me it would cost $100 for them to go get it so I chose to go myself while they started working. I didn't get back before they ran out of things to do and in the meanwhile they changed the water filter on my kitchen sink. Forsythe is very good about letting you know the prices of everything before they start so there are no bad surprises. At first I thought the price for installing the sink and faucet sounded high but then I recalled that my last plumber was a lot more expensive and not as good. I also did not know what the job entailed (most laymen and women don't). They did end up spending a lot of time here including all of the time at the beginning of the visit helping me problem solve. Plus, they put in the water filter and a new toilet handle free of charge (the Angie's List discount helped too!). James was the plumber I dealt with most and he was exceedingly helpful, pleasant and professional, but they were both great.

A small pipe in the basement leading out to an outside spigot had burst/broken. Thankfully, I could turn off the winterizing shut-off value to contain the leak. I called these guys the next day based on Angie's List reviews. I left a message and they returned my call promptly. They had crew of two guys out to my house within an hour. These guys were AMAZING! The explained everything they would be doing and did a free walk-through of the house to point out any other potential issues and future work. I'm a bit wary of these things because I know some contractors can take advantage of people by suggesting non-needed fixes, but these guys were spot on. They pointed out things that we were aware of from a previous inspector. Only valid fix suggestions were made. They explained everything and we took them up on a few additional fixes since we had already needed to drain the house pipes for our burst pipe. Their pricing seemed a bit high, but since plumbing tends to be very expensive in general, I didn't feel I was taken advantage of. I think they were worth it for the quality service and work we got. I will absolutely use these guys again for any of our plumbing heating fixes and I recommend them highly to everyone else. VERY professional and helpful.

After 2 full bottles of Draino soaked in there for 24 hours, it was still clogged. We were forced to call a plumber! They did a great job clearing out the clog and advising us on a few steps to upgrade our old plumbing. Extremely nice, helpful and professional. Seemed sort of a high price for a clogged drain, but we're not experts with time/techniques needed to get into old plumbing in an old house, so we just went with it. We'd call them again!

I came home from a weekend away and discovered my toilet was leaking water when I flushed it. Forsythe Plumbing was very responsive and provided prompt service. They were on time, accurate to the estimate and even cleaned up after preforming the work. I would reccomend them and would use them again for other repairs or projects.

I called at around 7.15am and they arrived within half an hour. They were friendly and polite. They provided an estimate and completed the work once the cost had been approved. They did not leave any mess and encouraged me to call back if I experienced any problems with their work.

Craig was friendly and very willing to tell me about how the disposal works and what he was doing to fix it. He was extremely accommodating. I would definitely call Forsythe plumbing and heating again.

The company was easy to work with in all respects. I had left a message for them this morning; they had returned my call within about an hour and had sent a plumber within another two hours. He communicated clearly the options we had with regard to not only the drain but also a noise problem that occurs occasionally in the shower (based on his description of what would be necessary to fix it, I decided to live with the noise, a decision with which he seemed to agree), immediately calculated the charge, and then fixed the drain in less than an hour. I would absolutely use Forsythe again.

It went great! I called at 5 pm the day before, and they were at our place at 7 am the following day! He gave us 3 possible prices, from best case to worst case scenario. Fortunately, it was the best case scenario!

They quickly returned my initial call and we arranged a time for the estimate. They showed up on schedule and gave me a written estimate at the end of their visit. Their price was very good and we arranged a time to do the work a few days later. They showed up at the arranged time and quickly completed the pipe replacement. The final price was the estimated price. They were very professional and I would definitely use them again. Highly recommended!

Smooth throughput of material requirement planning, job-flow, and completion. Flawless and managed.

On the plus side, the person I spoke to was friendly and professional, even when I called to cancel a scheduled appointment because I found another contractor. On the minus side, they don't do estimates over the phone, and they charge $50 just to show up, which effectively means it costs $50 just to get an estimate. Give me a break. Also, the repair I needed was rather urgent - I called on a Wednesday and they weren't available to come until the following Monday.

He was helpful. My daughter and husband dealt with him. It was a pleasant experience. We have no complaints about him. He could come right away with sort of an emergency situation in terms of the laundry for my daughter. He did the diagnosis and was prompt in fixing it. My daughter and husband liked him a lot. What he said about the water heater was very good information. We liked his professionalism.
