Description of Work: By far the best plumber I have used. Forsythe is great and very professional. He fixed a toilet that was leaking at the base. He was very personable and explained to me what the problem was. He also explained to me in detailed how he was going to fix it. Would definitely recommend that anyone looking for plumbing services use Forsythe!

+ -1 moreThey were terrific! i got a call asking whether it was ok if they came by early, which was actually perfect for me. We had them come to install one of those fancy toilet seats (part gag gift, part serious - who doesn't want a heated seat?) While they were there, I asked them to take a look at two toilets which were having trouble flushing. They cheerfully fixed them. Not only did they spend significantly more time than they'd originally anticipated, but they repeatedly had to go up and down four flights of stairs. They also found a pipe in the basement that needs to be replaced. That, however, is another project for another day. We'll certainly use them for future projects.
Description of Work: Install a 'toto' toilet system. Repair two toilets.

Description of Work: I originally called Forsythe to get a faucet fixed. We also had been ignoring several smaller jobs (tight faucets and a line to a basement fridge that needed to be cut off and capped) for some time. Before they could arrive, a toilet began to leak. They called me back immediately, and we arranged for a time. Chris arrived in a punctual manner, put on booties, and was generally respectful and professional. In looking over our jobs, the faucets and the toilet were both over 25 years old, and the repairs (factoring in labor) would have been more expensive than the replacements. The toilet required a special order brass piece, for instance. He showed me everything and explained the problems. We decided to replace them both. Because I liked Chris, I had him take a look at our upstairs shower and tub area. The fixtures were brass and corroded. He was able to find simple replacements for the tub drain and controls that made a huge visual difference. We also decided to replace the bathroom sink (a floral job I've never liked). He accompanied me to the Plumbing Supply and we discovered (having removed and brought the sink) that NOTHING was available in that specific size. We were all surprised, including the supply folks. We returned with a new faucet, but it didn't look right if we kept the old sink. Chris patiently helped me sort through the options. We decided to return the uninstalled faucet, order a different faucet and keep the sink, which he reinstalled. The faucet I chose was a special order, which took 6 weeks. A month later, our kitchen sink faucet began to loosen and a bracket broke. (As I write this, I realize it sounds like we are plagued by plumbing poltergeists!) Chris came early on a morning in which he had a big job to assess the situation. He needed additional parts and promised to come the following afternoon when he had a break. He was good to his word, and the faucet had by now arrived, and so he was able to install it as well as fix the sink. I feel Forsythe has been prompt, courteous and professional throughout, and has been very responsive. Chris has been a pleasure to deal with and I recommend him to you without reservation.

+ 0 moreCraig was punctual for the estimate, provided a fair quote, and was ready exactly when we needed to start the work. He was upfront when he had conflicts and was unable to show up on certain dates and made sure to get all work done on time as promised, including staying late several times to finish the job. When we needed to get into our neighbors unit to tie into the drain he reshuffled his schedule to match our neighbors and put in the extra time necessary to do the work on schedule. He was also very thorough when it came to cleaning up after himself and made sure to leave no excess dirt or grime behind. A great experience overall.
Description of Work: Performed all plumbing work necessary to add an additional bathroom in the upstairs finished attic space of our unit, including running new pipe lines and tying into the existing drain stack / pushing a new vent stack through the roof.

+ -1 moreFirst Chris came by on 12/29 to assess our old leaking water heater. He arrived on time and was very professional. He wrote up a couple of alternatives, with estimates. One alternative was to go with an "on demand" water heater, also called a tankless. He was very good about explaining the new technology and the tax credit that would come along with it. I did some research, then got back to him several times to ask questions about it. Chris was great about taking my calls and helping me understand the options. In the end, we decided on the traditional tank heater. Forsythe is one of the few plumbing companies I could find that install Bradford White heaters, which are highly rated, Craig came on the scheduled day and again was very professional in his approach. He removed the old water heater, installed the new one quickly. He then tested all the faucets in the house, making sure that they all worked properly after the the installation. They were not the least expensive option, but we felt that we got good value for the product and service they provide. We are very satisfied and would gladly use Forsythe again.
Description of Work: We had an estimate done when our old water heater started leaking anf then had a 75 gallon Bradford White water heater installed.

+ -1 moreThey were very straight forward and told me everything that they would do. They didn't try too hard to over sell stuff. They gave me a list of what they would recommend. When they first showed up, they did a survey of the entire house, to suggest things that we may want to be aware of, keep an eye on or maybe look into. They gave me some tips for doing my own maintenance of the house, which I really like from a contractor. They showed up within two hours when we had an emergency. They were friendly and they did their work when I was here without me even being aware they were here.
Description of Work: Forsythe Plumbing and Heating fixed the shower that wouldn't turn off and repaired several sinks.

Description of Work: Requested that he come to the house and see about a leak in a pipe chase. He went overe and checked the chas from above. He also checked the radiators and plumbing fixtures on the second floor bathrooms and did not find any leaks. His assumption is that, since the pipes are located on the exterior walls they could possibly have developed condensation from the change in the weather.

+ 0 moreAgain, Chris arrived later than the agreed upon time and installed the water heater and fixed the leaking sink. We paid the agreed upon amount and thought we were done. Later that night we received a call from our first floor tenant that the sink was leaking. We called Forsythe Plumbing and Heat and they sent Chris back first thing in the morning the next day.
Description of Work: We noticed water leaking from our water in the basement and a leak from the first floor kitchen sink. I called Forsythe Plumbing and Heat (I believe it was on a Monday) and made arrangements for someone to come out and give us an estimate. Chris arrived about an hour after our agreed upon time and gave us an estimate for the water heater and leaking sink as well as a leak from one of the boilers.

+ -1 moreThere was no hurry with this work, but Craig came a few days after I called. It didn't take him long to do the work, and I know that sometimes it is difficult to get someone to do such a small job. Craig was in and out quickly. The ice maker is working great.
Description of Work: We recently moved into a condo and Craig did a lot of plumbing work for us of the highest quality. After he finished all the work, we bought a new refrigerator and discovered it was possible to connect it the water easily. I asked Craig to fit us in for this very small job when he could. He came by a few days later and connected the water to the ice maker.

He came when he said he would come and left the place clean when he finished. His work is excellent. As an added bonus, Craig is pleasant and easy to work with. We would recommend him highly. He really knows what he is doing.
Description of Work: New hot water tank, replaced faucets in bathroom and kitchen, installed three new toilets, installed new showerheads and replaced shower valve, installed an instant hot, new shutoffs.

Description of Work: My boiler intermittently stopped working because of a broken aquastat. Craig wasn't able to fit me into his schedule, but he referred me to a colleague who came out the next day. Craig even took the time to walk me through some possible issues on the phone -- hoping to help me fix the issue on my own. Very responsive, kind.

The hot water heater had failed, and water was pouring out of it like water from a hose. I started at the top of Angie's list and started calling plumbers in my area. The first one who answered the phone was Craig. He guided me through how to stop the water, and then cleared his schedule to come and install a new heater in the morning. He could not have been more curteous, efficient and professional, and took the time to do a quick review of the pther plumbing in the house. He is also a very nice guy. I have found my new plumber, and would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

+ -1 moreThe garbage disposal stopped working on Sat. I spent the w/e trying to 'revive' it by using tips on the Internet which involved using the Allen wrench and the reset button. On Monday morning called 2 plumbers around the Natick area and was fortunate to have my call answered by Craig. He scheduled a visit for Wednesday PM. By mid-day Monday, the sink drain was backing up and there was disgusting sediment starting to build on the sink, and the heatwave was causing it to stench. I called Craig again (and again got him -- not a vm). He was kind enough to squeeze me in for Tuesday PM. He called me when he was on his way to confirm time of arrival, and upon inspecting the garbage disposal declared it dead. His truck is fully loaded, so he was able to install a new In-sinkerator right away, and within 65 minutes I had a fully functional garbage disposal. Good bye to stinky crud! He also offered to give the plumbing in our house a once-over free of charge to identify areas of concern. For the one item he suggested we address right away, he showed me how to do it, indicating he was not trying to solicit work but wanted to help. On his way out he offered to get my a/c down from the 2nd floor -- completely out of scope work. Such a helpful guy. Two days after the installation, he gave a courtesy call to check if all was working fine and if there were any issues. I have never had a service professional check back. I will strongly recommend his services and will definitely use them for all plumbing jobs at my house.

+ -1 moreOverall we were really satisfied with his work and would use him again. He was very professional. He came and gave us a quote, walking through the house to look at the plumbing in general. He pointed things out but I didn't feel pressured at all like he wanted me to get it done then, this allowed me to really assess what work I wanted to have done and when. He was extremely professional and we felt comfortable having him in the house.
Description of Work: They did some plumbing work in our bathroom, fixing a running toilet. He also installed a new valve on the toilet and two new valves on our sink lines. We had a crushed washer in our sink line which prevented the water from flowing and using our hot water, this ended up being more expensive then we wanted to pay though. We found that one of our pipes coming in to the bathroom had been punctured with a nail and actually burst when hew was working on it. He quickly fixed it.

+ -1 moreVincent did a great job. He was the only plumber willing to come to the house to give an estimate. He was prompt and was able to come within a day. He wanted to see the situation before giving a precise quote - though he did tell me which brand of water heater he used ahead of time. I spoke with several plumbers, and discovered that each prefers and installs a different brand (e.g. AOSmith, Reem, Bradford White, etc.). I got on the internet and did a lot of research on the different brands, and decided I wanted a Bradford White which is the brand that Vincent uses (at least for residential 50 gallon water heaters). By the time Vincent came, luckily I had gotten quotes (and found out what brands they installedd) from several plumbers, so when Vincent was there and gave me his quote, I saw his price was squarely in the middle. He's very professional, articulate, attentive to service (asking me after the job if he could've done anything better), and he did an excellent job -- my hot water is vastly improved! I would recommend him to other list members. Though they are not listed as offering a coupon, while he was giving me the quote I asked if he offered a discount to AL members, and he took an additional 5% off the price.
Description of Work: Replaced a hot water heater. Removed the old tank, installed and leveled the new 50 gallon Bradford White tank (on a very uneven basement floor), flushed the rusty water from the system.

+ -1 moreThe job went wonderfully! The repairman showed up perfectly on time, made an estimate on the repair and gave me a couple options after showing me the issues. After deciding to have him complete the job, the repairman explained everything to me. He was fast and thorough. He also helped with a couple other quick fixes in the house that I might have otherwise been charged for, and gave me some advice and tips on our heating system. It was all very much appreciated. The repairman was very cordial, which was appreciated, as well. Great work!
Description of Work: A pipe in our small bathroom radiator had a slow leak. The leak was getting worse, and it was all low to the ground, so it made it difficult for my husband and I to figure out what was going on exactly.

+ -1 moreThe flex hose began leaking suddenly. I called Craig Forsythe. He was busy, but he managed to fit me in very soon. He came, sized up the situation and made the repair. At first it seemed like just the flex hose needed to be replaced, but he diagnosed the problem further and figured out that the flow mechanism in the tank needed to be replaced. It was a life-saver that he came right away because water was threatening to leak to the floor below.

He explained everything clearly, and the work came out very well. He left the work site clean. Vincent is pleasant to work with, clear, and efficient. I plan to use him for any future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: I own two properties in Cambridge. In the first property Vincent re-aligned and replaced the drain pipes under two kitchen sinks, installed two cut-off valves under one sink (before the water for the whole building had to be shut off to make repairs on the third floor), and installed a second cut-off valve for the whole building in the basement with a faucet so the system can be drained from there. In the second property he replaced all the plumbing to the bathroom tub and shower as well as the faucet in the kitchen.
