Five Stars Movers

The folks at Five Star Movers were great. They arrived on time closer to the beginning of the window they provided and once I gave them a walk through of the apartment they went right to work. My wife and I had done most of the packing beforehand so they were moving basically boxes, but they also wrapped up our larger furniture in moving blankets and tape and did so in an efficient manner. Upon arrival at our new apartment, they did a fast job moving our stuff into our place and placed the furniture and boxes in the appropriate rooms. We had never used professional movers before and we will never go back to moving ourselves again!. For our move we were quoted as needing 4 hours plus one hour of travel time. The three men moved quickly and were able to do the work in about an hour less than required and saved us the extra hour of fees. None of the items were broken when we arrived, and aside from a little nick on the leg of our sofa, the item came to us scratch free. They didnt use an excessive amount of tape/supplies and there werent many additional fees tacked onto the quote aside for about $10 in tape. Overall it was a great experience and the team we had were very friendly. The Angies List discount was a nice bonus to use these guys as well. If you are looking for a good experience for an intercity move, these guys will get the job done.

We regret using Five Stars Movers. I honestly don't know how these could be the same movers who received all those great reviews here on Angie's list. But first the positives: both of the crews who came to our home (one crew to move the stuff out, and a different crew 1 week later to move everything back in) were polite, fast, and (especially the second crew) eager to please. The problem was that these guys clearly were not trained/knowledgeable in how to move or store items in order to make sure that they don't get damaged. They shrink-wrapped some of our furniture, but not everything. When we checked on how they were storing the furniture in our garage, we were very concerned with how they were stacking things one on top of the other, with no padding in between. They said they couldn't leave padding in our home for a week. I can understand that, but if we had known that in advance, we could have prepared for that. We had plenty of blankets and towels that they could have used, etc. Plus we heard some loud noises while they were moving our oven, and sure enough, the porcelain finish on our stove top was nicked in a few different places. We spoke to the manager, Tony Escobar, about our concerns, and the only thing he offered was to send in a different crew to move our things back into our home. Well the second crew tried but again they weren't properly trained. For example, watching them move our fridge back into our home was downright scary. Two of the men hurt their hands carrying it through the outside doorway (standard doorway in a newer home), and they dropped the fridge. We also watched in horror as they brought our furniture back in and we saw how much damage had been done to so many pieces of our furniture, probably from how it had been stacked/stored. Final damage tally: in addition to the stove, many of our nicest pieces of furniture were scratched or gouged. Plus they scratched the hardwood floors that were just re-finished.

This was my first time using professional movers, and I was very pleased with the entire process. I did not give all A's only due to the crew being later than promised (which happens and was just fine in the end) and due to a couple of items broken/ scratched (which also happens and is not completely unexpected). The crew of 3 movers arrived and got right down to business even with the scorching temperatures. They took great care of all my furniture and packing my things into the truck. I was dubious as to if it would all fit, but these guys obviously know what they are doing. They were so fast, I couldn't believe it. We try to have most of our things ready to go straight onto the truck, and it seemed to really help the process. I even watched them take apart some of my furniture in ways I didn't know it came apart! The best thing (besides not having to do this myself!) was that they came in under the quote...by an hour and a half! This is probably due to the fact we tried to get things ready as much as possible and they didn't have to take a lot of things apart and wrap them, but still..awesome!! And the price they gave me for 3 guys and a truck per hour on the last day of the month was the BEST! Other companies had quoted me up to 3 times the price. Overall, I would use this company again in a heartbeat. I was very happy with the whole process!

We had rented temporarily until we purchsed a home. A lot of our "stuff" was still in boxes from our FL move. They guys showed up on time, loaded up the boxes and furniture and packed a few cabinets in the kitchen.When we arrived at our new home, they guys unloaded everything and either put things in the basement or the first floor because our second floor was being rennovated.They did a great job.

We LOVED our experience using Five Star Movers. I researched hard before choosing to hire movers. I checked references, peoples experiences, read reviews, had over 4 movers come to give estimates, etc. Five Stars from the start had a great attitude, price, and everything just seemed more smooth. They sent someone to the house to quote - and sure enough, I needed 2 trucks, 5 movers.The hourly rate was reasonable for 5 men, and 2 trucks, and they were competitive with many other companys I contacted.What got me, is that they gave me a maximum price, and if they went lower than the max, I would get get charged the least amount. They also charged 1 hour travel, regardless of how long that took. We saved money by packing ourselves, breaking down our beds and huge items, buying our own boxes and mattress bags, and tape. The movers arrived on time - both days, since we had to store our stuff on the truck for 48 hours.No one smoked, nothing broke, We bought them bagels w/. cream cheese each day, and the break they took to nibble was ridiculously shortAll 5 movers were all so nice and respectfulI even made them re-move a few heavy bureaus and they were pleasant about it. They ended up being over 1000 under estimate!!!! We were sooooo happy.It helped that we did our own break down and pack - but still!!! That was awesome, and so are they,They are great, use them! They have a coupon here on Angies - that alone saved me almost $150

I first called 5 Star Movers for an estimate on moving. Ericka was efficient, professional and friendly while helping me fill out the inventory list. Her estimate was timely and she accomodated our moving schedule on relatively short notice. When Gustav and his crew showed up on moving day, they arrived exactly when they said they would. They worked incredibly fast and were very careful with our things. I was really impressed with the way they packed the truck - so tightly that nothing moved! When we arrived at the new house and they unpacked - everything was delivered to the appropriate rooms and reassembled. I have no idea how they stayed so cheerful throughout the day - they made the move much easier than I could have imagined. After everything was unloaded, Gustav asked if there was anything we'd like them to relocate, or any heavy boxes we wanted moved.They were all totally awesome! I would recommend this company without hesitation and would definitely use them again if - God forbid - I have to move.

Their representative walked through our house, gave us an estimate which they stuck with; also estimated number of boxes we would need, etc.. They offered to sell us boxes, or do the packing; we turned down both, no pressure (got our boxes from U-Haul). On moving day, they arrived right on time, dis-assembled beds, etc., re-taped/labeled boxes where needed, virtually ran back and forth to the truck, stacked everything in convenient order for unloading. As promised, they showed up at our Maryland house at 8:00 a.m., positioned all cartons as marked, reassembled beds and lamps, were done in a couple of hours. They were very polite, a pleasure to work with. At the end, we gave them a tip by check, since we are reimbursed by employer; they explained they would prefer cash, but no argument. If we have a chance to use them again, we would.

These guys provided me with the single best moving experience I ever had. First: their pre-move communication was excellent (Erika is great!). Second: their quote was SIGNIFICANTLY less than the more well-known Boston moving company; and my final cost was actually equal to the original quote!! The guys were professional and hardworking and completed the entire job in exactly 5 hours. All the furniture was reassembled and put in place and in perfect condition. Excellent service!!

I have needed to move four times in the last seven years and these guys were FAR and away the best moving company I have worked with. They were punctual, cost competitive, the movers had the BEST attitude, they handled all of our furniture with extreme care, they came in on budget. Moving always is challenging and these guys made it easy. I highly recommend them.

We sold our house and are downsizing to a townhouse in the same town. Before the move the representative discussed our move we agreed that rather than havign one truck and a crew of 3 that it would be best to have a crew of 4. This was due to the weight and size of some of the pieces and entry at the new house. I had quotes from 10 companies and while Five Star was not the lease expensive they were competitive (set the travel time cost to 1 hour) and really looked at the individual components of the move in quoting the job. I had provided a detailed list of what we were moving. The crew arrived right on time. They surveyed the move to understand what we were storing in the garage at the new house vs. using in the living areas. Everything went smoothly. There were some rubs on the wall but that were not a real problem. The total time was right about as estimated and the crew worked continuiously all day. I would use them again.

From the estimate to the guys who did the moving, everything was excellent! The guys were very efficient and had everything on/off the truck quickly. I will certainly use 5 star for future moves..Thanks!!

We had a last minute closing on our house (after waiting nearly 2 months and living in a hotel for over 3 months), and we were pretty desperate to get into our home as soon as humanly possible. I sent an email on the evening Dec. 8th to Five Star Movers and received an email response and a follow-up phone call the next morning. Not only did they send an estimate via email, but they were very flexible with our hectic schedule as well. On the day of the move we were to meet the 3 gentlemen at the storage facility in the afternoon. They called to say that their earlier scheduled move was taking a bit longer than they had planned, and offered to either re-schedule us for the next morning, or to wait an hour. We opted to wait and they arrived within the secondary time-frame. We were very impressed with the way they communicated with us, ensuring we knew what was going on rather than just making us wait and wonder. The three gentlemen showed up in near freezing tempts and even after working all day at their previously scheduled job, they went straight to work. They were amazingly fast, careful, and pleasant to deal with. They thanked us for holding the door, always asked where we would like specific boxes and items, and even took the time to help us put the felt pads on the feet of our sofa to protect the hard-wood floors. Even maneuvering a heavy and awkward sleeper-sofa through a dark back yard and down through the basement door couldn't dim their spirits or slow them down. We weren't even sure the sofa would fit through the inner doorway...but they did it without even flinching. Bonus: They were way under their estimate! I've moved a lot in my life...across town, across the country, and even across the globe, but I've yet to meet such an efficient and pleasant crew as this. I am not planning on moving within the next decade, but if I do need a mover, I will not hesitate to call Five Star Movers and I'm recommending them to anyone who is in need of professional movers.

The 3 movers arrived within the time period that was predicted. They were very professional and did a good job carefully wrapping up my furniture to protect them. They were quick at emptying my apartment of the furniture and boxes. Once at the new apartment building they did another quick job at unloading my things. The only two things that I was a little concerned about was that I witnessed a box being dropped from high on a pile (luckily it didn't contain breakables and all was ok), and a lot of the boxes were placed upside down in my apartment. But despite that I was very pleased with the overall job they performed and nothing was broken and all the furniture was in good shape. I would definitely recommend them as they gave a realistic, reasonable estimate and stuck to their estimate (actually slightly lower than estimate as it took them a little less time than they predicted).

Five Stars moved me from Quincy to Reading, including overnight storage of my furniture on their truck. They took our half-packed stuff and a big delay in delivery the next day in stride, and delivered everything for less than their estimate.

Excellent service! They picked up all my belongings from my apartment in Providence, Rhode Island, and then drove to my boyfriend's house in Cranston, Rhode Island and loaded up all his belongings. They moved us in to our new home in Somerville, Massachusetts. They disassembled and reassembled all of our furniture and did an awesome job. I can't believe how smoothly and quickly this went. They were tireless! And we paid about a thousand dollars less than the other 4 quotes I got in preparation for this process.

Five Start Movers came to the house to take stock of everything in the house to make sure they could give an accurate quote. They followed up quickly with that quote in writing. Once I accepted their quote they made sure I knew what time to expect them and also confirmed the move a couple of days beforehand. Once the four movers arrived, they took stock off everything once more and got to work. For the next 9.5 hours they busted their a****. They were very efficient, friendly, and professional. They made sure they got everything out of my old place and that they put everything where we wanted in the new place. They estimated 10 hours and it took them 9.5 hours, so they came in under budget. I would definitely use them again (although I'm hoping I won't have to anytime soon!). The only downside is that they arrived at 7:20 in the morning when they had said they'd be there at 8 am. Having been up to 3 am packing, I was fast asleep when they arrived, having set my alarm for 7:30. Better early than late though.

Service was wonderful. They were efficient, punctual and clean. They handle my furniture with care. Everything was wrapped and moved with extreme care. I was very impressed.

They arrived on time (9:05 by my watch) and did the job well in loading everything in the truck. It took them 1 Hr and 25 Min. At exactly 10:30 we started for the new place, me in my car and they in the truck. There are 3 possible routes, all truck accessible, the min was 4.8 miles and the max was 6.5 miles. I reached the new place in 12 mins. My car was loaded with lots of plants and itsy bitsy stuff. They took 40 mins !! and reached there at 11:10. Then unloaded everything in 1hr and 05 mins and was done by 12:15. As a result of the 40 mins travel time between the 2 places they exceeded the estimate by 15 mins which was absolutely not required. We had everything ready to go and it was just a matter of leading and unloading. I did not argue with them but tipped them and signed their papers. I called their office on the next business day and spoke with the agent who worked with me on the estimate. She said she would talk to the manager and get back to me. That was Aug 2nd and I am still waiting to hear from her. They did the job well and were well behaved but they should be a little more forthcoming and honest even for small job like ours, if they want repeat business and referrals.

Five stars for Five stars. Excellent experience from start to finish. I booked the job with Erica and she followed through nicely. We were able to schedule the move on the last day of July even though this is a busy season and it fell on a Saturday. We were given a call half an hour before arrival as I had requested. The team showed up and just as they were ready to load up the elevator, the electricity cut out of the entire building. There was nothing to be done except hand carry the items down and some of the pieces were exceptionally heavy or bulky. There were no complaints and they did a fantastic job. At the destination there was another walk up and again they handled it well. The guys were strong, careful and polite. Excellent experience. We will use them again.

I called a few movers on a Friday after we realized we were going to need help moving on Sunday. Five stars was within a few miles of our locations which meant there was little travel cost. And their hourly rates were the best out of all I spoke with that day. And they could schedule us. I made sure to insist that I needed only two not three men/staff (they did try to get us to use three) and that I only needed a two-hour minimum service. I had a list of all the "stuff" we were moving so they were able to gauge what size truck to have. The two movers arrived on schedule, surveyed the furniture, boxes, appliances, etc. to be moved and kicked in quickly. We were still packing stuff for our parents and they helped w/ some of that--they were very thorough--asking to be sure we had everything we wanted moved onto the truck (or into our shed) taken care of before we left. They drove very carefully (they followed us to the destination and I was impressed at how they didn't rush or power through intersections, etc.). They brought everything in and were quite aware that we still had about 30 minutes on the clock with them and they kept asking how they could help us (we were paying the minimum time no matter what but they never said that). They rearranged furniture, etc. for us. They were great and we'd use them again without question.

We were to go with them, but we had to cancel them because they were a little bit higher than another company. They were very courteous. They were very prompt and willing to rearrange the things the same day.

The movers packed about 60 or more boxes, moving items from water/mold damaged boxes to new ones in a moist dirty basement and packing boxes in a hot attic. I provided many of the new boxes and some packing materials to keep costs down. They moved some large furniture and exercise equipment, as well as delicate items to a storage facility. Needless to say, with moldy boxes in a damp basement, packing conditions were not optimal, but they did not complain. On the contrary, they were polite and friendly. The price was fair, although, like most moving companies, supplies were expensive. I was glad I made a run to the wholesale club for some of the supplies before the move! I am so happy with the move that I intend to use them for my next move of all my belonging to my new place.

When I first called, I was extremely well received by Erica who quickly and efficiently coordinated a visit by Gil to our house. We spent a little time going through the house and was given a reasonable price which was to be honored even if the move took a little longer than expected. As we got closer to the date, Erica called to coordinate the packers to come and wrap up the furniture. A whole group of very strong guys came in and expertly wrapped all of our furniture in what seemed like no time. As a result, the furniture arrived in the new house undamaged. The day of the move was like a whirlwind. They were so strong, so efficient and managed to get everything out, packed up and moved to the new house. They worked really hard but were also polite and friendly. It was nice to see how well they worked as a team. At the end of the day, some other guys mysteriously showed up to help finish the job. When we got to the new house, they made sure all of the beds and other furniture were assembled and ready. I highly recommend Five Stars for their efficiency, friendliness and reasonable price.

Five Stars Movers came in at a lower overall price than other comparable movers I found on Angie's List. Tony, my primary contact, was generally good at getting back to me on the phone and email, although as we got closer to the actual move dates, my calls weren't being returned! Needless to say, I was able to connect with someone at their offices a few days shy of the move and they assured me they would be on time and able to fulfill on their promise of moving us that week. The day of the move it rained - it was the first day of the second "50 year storm", so naturally, we were concerned about our things getting wet as they were transported to and from the house and truck. The movers were very good about wrapping all of our items making sure they didn't get soaked. Obviously, boxes got wet, but nothing was damaged or destroyed as a result. My one concern was the time it took for the three movers to disassemble some of the furniture. When you're paying by the hour, it frustrated me that the three of them had to be in the room watching as one of them actually disassembled and the other two stood waiting for him to finish. When I asked if at least one of them could continue moving other items onto the truck, the lead mover said "this is how we work - in teams". It's my time, I would have appreciated them being more conscientious of that. That said, given that it was pouring out, they did work hard and were able to finish under the estimated time (my wife and I moved a lot of the smaller items ourselves the week before to save on some of the time). Overall, I would recommend them to anyone who needed good, cheap movers.

They always answered the phone and addressed our concerns. The only problem was when they got to Columbus they were quite late because they couldn?t locate the place. They eventually found us. They were very, very good at bringing things in and unpacking. They were very careful with everything and very good to deal with.
