Devany has delivered my heating fuel oil for five years, and performed annual maintenance on my boiler. The people at the office are always polite and helpful. Service people are clean, thorough and prompt. I have an old coal-converted boiler that they've kept running for a long time, and have never pressured me to replace it before I'm ready.

We had received estimates from this company and other competitors prior to our needing to replace the systems. James Devaney, which is our current oil delivery and service provider, had given us the best price. They recommended the Olsen furnace, which is the one we chose, as well as a more expensive top-of-the-line model. The sales person did not try to pressure us into buying the more expensive ; he told us the Olsen model would meet our needs. The service technicians did a thorough job removing the old system and installing the new. They did an excellent job of cleaning up and not leaving any old parts or debris behind. Our new furnaces work excellently!

They are very responsive, reliable and we will continue to use them.

The people they send out to service our boiler are very professional. They really do a good job talking to us about what we need to do. They refer us to other people. They don't over sell.

They performed the annual service and told us that the system needed to be replaced. They didn't think that they could get the system to work again without major repairs. They thought we should replace the system. However, we didn't want the apartment to be without heat while we explored the replacement option. They came out and managed to get the system running again, so we can explore the replacement option more thoroughly.

The serviceman from James Devaney Fuel, was pleasant and explained the process to us very well. He changed out the filters and cleaned up the units well. There were no surprises while he was here, and he left everything running efficiently. He took his time and did a nice thorough job. I recommend their services.

The serviceman who came from Hughes, which was recently acquired by Devaney, did something very wrong in servicing our oil heater because the house smelled like oil. When I said this, he told me that there was no problem and everything was fine. But it wasn't. The oil smell never went away. After a night of nausea and headaches, we had to call again the next morning and someone came back out to the house and had to complete the entire service again.

We had trouble one time with the furnace not working properly and they came in the middle of the night to fix it. They are just an awesome company. They are very reliable and very good. They answer all of your questions and they try to make their work a good experience.

Badly. The new pump and burner work well, but the workman who installed the new oil tank installed the line incorrectly so that it wasn't drawing oil from the tank itself. For 14 months, the heat would shut down every few weeks, and each time we had a new oil delivery. Our heat went out at least 17 times. We would come home at night to find the house freezing because at some point earlier in the evening, the heat had gone out. While each time we called, the person answering the phone was polite and a serviceman came out to work on the system and to get the heat going again, they never diagnosed the problem of the oil line correctly, even after I repeatedly told them that I thought the problem was in the line. Devaney kept saying that the problem was because the tank was outside, even though at least 3-4 times we lost heat and hot water in the summer. They finally took out that tank (that's when a repairman noticed the overly long lines) and replaced it with another tank repair it.

They arrived on time for the appointment and were very nice guys. The job took them the entire day and they did a wonderful job. The furnace works as good as new now and we would definitely recommend their services to others with heating issues.

We have used Devaney for our oil for 5 years. Once a year they service the furnace as part of our contract. We just had a technician at our house last week, and once again he was punctual, professional, and knowledgeable. He checked over our furnace and our oil tank for problems, replaced a few parts, and also cleaned around the furnace. He patiently answered my questions (I wanted to know which parts he was replacing, and about the efficiency and overall condition of the furnace and tank). With oil prices so high, it's hard to know if you are getting a good deal with any oil company, but at least I feel that Devaney is professional and reputable in all of my contacts with them.

We switched to this company 2 years ago, after the company we'd been with for 18 years said there was a 6 month wait for annual burner cleaning/checkups. (That meant the annual checkup was really an 18 month checkup). I told Devaney that was the reason we switched, and since then they have been meticulous about seeing that we get that appointment once every twelve months, to the extent of having a note in our file to that effect. Our burner, which is 25 years old, has worked perfectly since they started taking care of it, so I can't speak to how they respond to service calls. The serviceman spent almost two hours on it when he cleaned it last month. They deliver our oil automatically on a schedule based on our previous use.

THEY WORK ON THE HEATING SYSTEM, BUT THEY DRAW A LINE IN TERMS OF WHAT THEY WILL FIX. WHEN WE HAD HEATING PIPES (COPPER HOT WATER PIPES IN BASEBOARDS) FREEZE AND BURST, THEY SAID WE WOULD HAVE TO BRING IN A PLUMBER TO DEAL WITH IT. IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY WERE FULL-SERVICE FOR EVERYTHING DEALING WITH THE HEATING SYSTEM, BUT IT MAY BE STANDARD FOR FUEL COMPANIES TO ONLY PROVIDE CERTAIN SERVICES. HOWEVER, THEY SEEM TO BE COMPETENT AND THOUGHTFUL ON THE WORK THEY WILL DO.
