Home repairs rarely go as planned, but Perry Brothers made the projects as painless as possible. We used Perry Bros a few years back with a kitchen remodel, and were so pleased with the work that we hired Bill again for roof repair and structural work in our basement. The roof repair wasn't supposed to be a big job, until mold and water damage came into the picture. Bill and his team kept me informed the entire process- showing me pictures of the damage, referring me to a mold remediation specialist and making the roof (and joists/insulation) safe again. The damage was in our new baby's room, so needless to say we were mortified by what was found. Fortunately, Bill held our hands throughout the entire process (including insurance claims and paperwork) and not only does the room look great again, but most importantly it is safe for our daughter. The basement structural work was a larger project, including LVL beams, support walls and cement footings. This project took almost a week to complete and the same guys were there each day. Everyone was incredibly polite, kept me informed throughout the process, happy to answer my questions and incredibly courteous. The job was well done, on time and the basement was left so much cleaner and neater than when they started. I cannot recommend Perry Brothers enough. We have dealt with other contractors in the past, trying to save a few dollars, and it was NOT worth it. While Perry Bros may be a little more expensive than the other guys, they are money well spent. I truly believe that you get what you pay for and we will continue to use Perry Bros for every house project from here on out.

The initial job was for the porch to be rebuilt. Upon construction of the porch, the crew found a major safety issue with the roof deck. That added a change order to rebuild the roof deck over the porch. The crew tackled the roof, then continued with the porch. In addition some foundation work was also needed after the demo of the porch. I cant say enough about the crew that worked on the job. Scott, Tony, Mike, were on time, professional, and took great pride in their work. They really did a great job. Bill Perry was great to work with and was in constant communication with me during the project. It was nice to work with a project team that really cared about the customer and making sure we were satisfied.

Bill and Mike were excellent to work with! They came out to our home to talk through all of our current and anticipated future projects and were highly knowledgeable and professional. They were readily available and stayed in communication during and in between projects. We felt similarly about the teams that came in to complete the work, and their quality and attention to detail was superb. We plan to contact Perry Brothers Construction again for future projects that we are planning.

It went very well. Like I said the unexpected wood problem was resolved and the crew worked very hard, well and professionally to repair. I would hire and recommend Perry Brothers Construction without any doubts. I actually missed the crew when they finished job and left. It is hard to find good quality and reliable workers nowadays and we found it with Perry. Thanks again for a job well done!

Bill Perry and his team were great to work with! The main contractor on the job (Dan R) was extremely helpful and communicative. He responded quickly to messages, reached out when he had questions, and helped me coordinate with other contractors (plumber, electrician, countertops) that needed to visit the house during the day, which allowed me to stay at work and not have to run home every time somebody needed to get access to the house. Perry Brothers had contacts and contractors for any job that needed doing, and I used some of their contacts as well as sending some contractors I found independently in to work with them as well. They were very accomodating and helpful. The project started very quickly, but due to the growing list of things that needed attention during the renovation, it ended up running longer than expected and over budget. I do not blame Perry Brothers for this, as I have found just about everything associated with a house ends up costing more and taking longer than expected! Their prices seem competitive and the workmanship is very good. I have lived in the house for about 2.5 months since the work was completed, and while I can nitpick and find some (small) things that aren't 100% perfect, it is not something anyone else would notice... just my wife and I (as the owners) see every small detail. Overall the work is excellent and I would have no problem recommending Perry Brothers to anyone that needs work done!

It can be overwhelming to do a big renovation on your home. We were very concerned about choosing the right contractor for the job. A word of mouth reference from a co-worker led us to Perry Brothers Construction. From our first meeting with Bill there was a comfort level which made it very easy to make our decision. Throughout the project communication was key. His crew was very professional and their expertise helped the job to move smoothly. Any unforeseen issues where addressed immediately and resolved in a timely agreeable manner. We had a total facelift on the exterior of our home and a deck redone. We are very happy with the outcome and are enjoying the results. Several of our neighbors have commented on how nice the house looks. What more can you ask for? Any work in the future we know who to call Perry Brothers Construction. I

Perry Brothers Construction did a fantastic job with the design, demolition and remodel of our new kitchen including the removal and re-support of existing walls. Craftsmanship is superb and the professionalism of everyone involved was outstanding. We'll definitely be using Perry Brothers for all of our future remodeling needs,

Wood rot was extensive, still working on repairs and due to weather (rain) they are going to take even longer :-(

We’ve done a lot of renovations on our 95-year-old house. We’ve been happy with contractors most of the time. The project at hand was a rebuild of our back porch, for which we obtained several bids. We hired Perry Brothers, who gave one of the higher estimates We expected them to be detail-oriented and do top notch work. Our experience was mixed. In most ways, they did great work. The construction of the porch is very solid, well-built and the guys showed up as expected. They had a crew of 2 or 4 guys on any given day. They installed supporting beams to shore up the structure and they worked in the sweltering heat. The project took about a month for construction. We had permitting problems that delayed the project by 3 weeks. We had to intervene to get the permits. We were not too bothered about that, although it did seem odd -- that’s never happened to us before. Our principal disappointment with the project was with the finish work. We discussed a complete rebuild of our porch, and for $45K, we expected a complete rebuild. Unfortunately, they left the porch ceiling on the second floor unfinished. We had the whole porch wrapped with Azek trim and composite boards & railings. The ceiling was left with bare sheathing (see photo below). They recommended painting to finish it -- that we paint it ourselves. That to me is not finished work. We’ve had several people over to enjoy the new porch/deck and they consistently comment, “The ceiling isn’t finished; are they coming back to fix that?” Well, the answer we got was, “No. It’s not in the contract”. They could have discussed this part of the project mid-build so we knew what was happening. How could a contractor complete a porch and leave unfinished work? It is exposed and doesn’t fit in with rest of the porch work. A second disappointment was Perry Brothers behavior toward the end of the project. We were asked to give final payment while there was still a pile of debris in the driveway, the permit was still open, the fence looked hacked up and terrible, and the porch had bare wood exposed. We had to demand the project was finished before final payment, which they agreed to. However, this is not the kind of interaction we expected from this contractor -- we expected them to manage the details. We had to gather more estimates from a finish carpenter to get the ceiling finished. It will cost another $2K to finish it off. We were so disappointed to have pay another person to finish the job and the added cost. Our friends ask if we would recommend them in the future and sadly, the answer is “No”. What I did learn from this experience is that you really need to review the construction contract with a fine-tooth comb and probably hire the architect (even for a porch rebuild). Also, we felt pressure to give the final payment (“we need to make payroll”); but we should have held back until we were completely satisfied with the job. Our bad. The owner, Bill, contacted us after we expressed disappointment that the porch ceiling was left unfinished with bare wood. He was responsive and offered to negotiate a solution to resolve/ finish our project. He asked what we wanted and that entailed a fir bead board ceiling and finished PVC trim to cover all exposed wood. Bill gave us the money to cover the costs to finish the project. He was very pleasant to work with and in the future would recommend working with him directly. Our back porch is beautiful and we’ve enjoyed using it this summer and fall.

It was a relatively small job, but took a lot of coordinating, which went much smoother than expected. Bill was always quick to respond, and very professional. Everyone that worked at the house was great, and left the work site spotless. After everything was completed, Bill came back to inspect everything that was done and make sure I was happy with the results. Would definitely hire again.

The Perry Brothers team was professional, courteous and cared about our project and family. They had to remove a wall in the middle of the house. They contained the mess and never interfered with our household schedule. They will definitely be called to work on our next project.

Mike Ratte and his team did an excellent and professional job on our home! Some of the siding had rotted wood. We planned on replacing just one side, but it looked so great that we decided to do all the siding. Mike's team did such an excellent job that we hired them to add a shed to the back of our garage and replace the pool house roof. We hope to hire them again for future projects!

Bill was the only contractor we could find who was willing to let us do what we could to keep costs down, and then go from there. He trusted us to get the project to be where it needed to be to have them come in and do the framing, install windows, and shower pan liner (wedi system), and patch the exterior siding where it needed to be filled in. He was responsive, on time, and up front always about all costs and timelines. The plaster crew he works with was great as well and his framers are polite and do great work. We were very happy with the overall result.

Overall, we were pleased with the final results. Perry Bros completed all the work they were supposed to and were very fair with us throughout the duration of the project. Especially with an old house, and a foreclosure, there are always unexpected issues, and we did run into a number of them. But Bill and his team were very fair in working with us to still keep the project as close as we could to our budget.

The bulk of the project took about five months. The team demoed the kitchen, both bathrooms, and a lot of space in between to allow for the new beams, etc. At one point the whole house was jacked up so the team could replace the main support beam of the house. Bill's team was always respectful of us and understood this is our home, not a nameless job site. It was a long job with a few issues, which is understandable when you take walls and ceilings down to studs and take out 35 year old fixtures. The house looks great now, and one can ALMOST forget all the dirt and displacement ...

Exceeded expectations. Work is high quality, friendly and congenial crew, very clean work area. Expansion of work scope was welcomed and all work completed before they left the job. Plan to hire again in spring. Very pleased with all work performed.

Work was exceptionally well done and in a timely fashion. The contractors were very responsive during the quote phase and always replied the same day. They provided a few quotes for multiple options of work scope and discussed the options with us. They adapted well to changes to the original work scope when we found a rotted fascia board and provided 2 options for replacement, highlighting pros and cons of each. They were courteous and cleaned up after work was complete. We will definitely hire them again in the future.

Everyone at Perry Brothers was great to deal with. Even with a time constraint due to a family gathering that was already planned Perry Brothers listened and worked with us to get the job to about 85-90 % done and functional. The quality of their work is outstanding. The guys that did the work were amazing. Especially during one of the hottest weeks of the summer. I would recommend Perry Brothers to anyone. We've already scheduled a couple more small projects with them.

The job went great! Bill Perry and his team were professional and timely throughout the entire process. The processes started in February of 2016, because we were funding this project through our mortgage company. It is easy to say that work with our bank was not easy and they required A LOT of paperwork and revision after revision from Perry Brothers Construction. Bill Perry was patient and willing to do whatever they asked of him, every time they asked. Once the bank finally got everything they needed we started on the project. During the original spec of repairs Bill estimated that the entire project would take three months, and they moved quickly and efficiently and were done is just over 2 months. Based on the time that we started it was very nice to get back into the house earlier than planned, considering that one of us is a school teacher and being able to get in before school started was a huge help. Being first time home owners and never going through a project like that, Bill Perry and his team offered great advice and guidance along the entire journey of this project. Their input lead us to the beautiful home that we have now. The transformation of the home is something that you would see on HGTV, it's unbelievable, they did an AMAZING job!

We brought Perry Brothers in to repair significant internal damage to four apartments in our condo association, caused by ice dams in the winter storms of 2015. They also coordinated work on related roof repairs. We were very impressed by Perry Brothers, enjoyed working with project manager Mike and his team, and would use their services again. All the work they did – from rebuilding internal walls, through painting and carpentry – was of the same outstanding quality. Each craftsman clearly took great pride in their work (but a special shout out here for Dan’s professionalism and attention to detail). When the project was completed, finishes were perfect and immense care was taken to maintain the integrity of older features in the house, such as wood moldings. The job was by its nature a long one, but Mike and the team went to great effort to minimize disruption to the condo owners’ lives. Work areas were sealed off and an extractor fan used to minimize dust. Daily and final clean-up was impeccable. Furniture was re-positioned as they moved from room to room and at the end of the job. The internal repairs were subject to an insurance claim. Mike, the project manager, worked closely with the insurance loss adjuster to ensure that the necessary work was covered by the claim. We have no hesitation in recommending Perry Brothers to others – they do an excellent job.

We had a partially finished sunroom that we wanted completing. Bill offered some great ideas when we initially met with him and listened to our ideas too. His team were very professional and finished the work in a timely manor. Bill was always very clear with his timelines and set correct expectations. We will certainly be hiring Bill & his team again

Bill Perry and his crews been our rock over the past several years as we slowly renovate our Newburyport home. Bill answers calls promptly and all quotes and change orders are agreed to in writing prior to work done. His crews are extremely qualified, prompt, respectful, friendly and pay close attention to our requests. Bill personally checks on the job site and keeps us informed on all details of the project. His advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated as is his honesty and dependability. Perry Brothers have: renovated a bathroom for us; installed a new kitchen including cabinets, wall and ceiling installation and plastering; installed and refinished 200 year old flooring salvaged from the attic; painted interior and exterior to perfection, found and repaired exterior leaks; installed new windows, repaired exterior siding and roofing. The list goes on and on with a house this old. Their pricing is reasonable and worth every penny. We highly recommend Perry Brothers for any and all projects you may have. These are good honest, skilled professionals who care about your satisfaction and take pride in their work.

Bill Perry and his team of tradesmen are excellent. I am completely satisfied with the work done on my bathroom & kitchen. I am so grateful for the care & consideration every trade had while working in my home. I love my kitchen & bath reno, both rooms are beautiful. I chose Bill Perry to do my total house renovation and it came out amazing. I should have had the doors and windows done while he was here with his guys but I was on a tight timeline and budget. We had one winter in the new house and realized how horrible the entry doors and basement windows were. When I called Bill he was here the next day taking measurements. He had to special order the doors and windows (older home has tall narrow doors) but immediately after his guys were here doing the install. His team is always punctual and polite - Bill is my first call whenever I have a project in mind.

It took a few calls and some waiting to get started with the whole process, but I wasn't really pushing the schedule. And once we had agreed to do the work and had a contract, Mike laid out a schedule and stuck to it. Working with Mike was great. He looked over the estimate our insurance adjuster had done and explained how it needed to be raised. He then worked with the insurance company (no effort on my part) to raise the payment significantly. His crew was courteous and professional. The work quality was great. Mike also painted an extra room outside of the contracted work. I am considering redoing a bathroom. I will definitely reach out to Perry Brothers for that work.
