+ -1 moreExcellent. From our initial communication with Bill Perry, reviewing the work that needed to be done and giving us a cost with price breakdown, it all took place quickly and professionally. When the deck could not be done until spring, we were concerned that the deck would not hold up through winter. Bill sent one of his men, Mike to build supports under the deck. He did a great job. Carpenters, Dan, Juan and Mike were professional, respectful and punctual. Their attention to detail was excellent. They worked through some very cold days and always cleaned up at the end of each day. Dan always communicated when a change was needed or extra work needed to be done. We decided to put solar lights on the deck, and after a conversation with Dan decided to go with a different idea than we had planned. We ended up ordering lights that Mike found on Amazon which ended up working out perfectly.. Very happy with work that was done and the professionalism of the crew. Would rehire Perry Construction.

+ 5 morePerry Brothers is everything you would want in a contractor- honest, knowledgeable, high quality workmanship. The plumbing in our house was originally done incorrectly and the original deck was structural unsound. They did a wonderful job fixing these problems and constructed a beautiful and safe new deck and two lovely new bathrooms. They also took care of some smaller projects we had around the house (patching, painting, etc). The foreman was great at communicating and always had a solution when he ran into issues (the former owners of our house left us with a lot of issues). We are very happy with the work and highly recommend Perry Bothers and will definitely use them again.

+ 1 moreWe had 3 other local contractors look at with we can't do it replies within our budget. Bill came in and looked at it with a team member and they agreed they could do it. Gave us a estimate very quickly, I explained to Bill we needed to work it into our budget, no issues cal when you are ready. We called this spring sent the down payment for the sliding door, he ordered it and called when it was ready. 3 weeks later his team arrived and installed the door. It was a 2 day job but the slider was installed the first day and the second they did the trim and remounted the Juliet balcony. The team was polite and professional with my wife and cleaned up each day. Bill Perry will be back here to my home. On another note Harvey makes a solid sliding door. This was all done a 3rd floor unit with staging and shrubs were not even bruised.

+ 2 moreWe presented Bill and his team with a very difficult challenge to renovate a one-hundred year old post and beam addition that lacked foundations and had partially collapsed. The room was critical to the house since it was the main entrance and had the potential to have great views of the garden. They jacked up and leveled the addition while keeping the front and side walls in place, and then did the foundations. From this work right through to the installation of windows and finish work the quality was excellent. Bill was especially responsive when we had to make adjustments and deal with the surprises that come with such an old house. He made sound recommendations and reasonable change orders that were well documented. The crew had a couple special problems that they handled well. We had pets in the house that had to go through the construction area to go out. In addition to keeping them safe, they kept the back fenced in garden secure. I was also concerned that they had to work in my neighbors immaculate garden to access one side of the house. They did the work without disturbing a thing. I often do my own carpentry and am very fussy about doing things right. The final trim work was well up to my best standards. We would certainly use Perry Construction again, and recommend them highly.

Because the floors in nearly all of the rooms, and the walls and ceiling in many rooms were opened up and repaired, we moved to a rental for 3 months. We visited every day and grew to appreciate the quality and the diligence of the work that Bill Perry, his crew, and his subcontractors were doing. Some key factors: - Project Planning and Control: After preliminary discussions, Bill Perry put together a proposal to describe the scope of work and estimated cost of each work group. This document was 12 pages long and included comprehensive detail. It described executive responsibilities for both Perry Brothers, but also for the owner's subcontractors and products. Since many of the items required opening walls to establish a final plan or because the plan changed as the project proceeded, Bill would issue detailed Change Notices that were costed out, signed and dated, and specified necessary detail and responsibility. This disciplined professional approach was critical for controlling the project and informing all parties of key issues and decisions that were needed. Another key was that Bill was always available to discuss alternatives and changes we might think were necessary. Bill was always considerate and willing to modify the project to meet our concerns. The cost of "add on's" were always reasonable. - Workmanship: Perry Bros. staff was generally excellent. Mike, the foreman on our site was remarkable. Knowledgeable in all technical aspects, he would review progress, listen to concerns, talk through options, and make sure all details were done correctly. Perry's subcontractors were likewise competent, professional, and available when needed. - Working with our Subcontractors: Bill and Mike took responsibility for oversight of subcontractors we hired. As an example, when a cooktop failed, they worked with the appliance source and the countertop supplier to get the job done correctly and quickly.
Description of Work: Below is a summary of the list of tasks for a comprehensive renovation of every room of our home. A definitive, high level of detail was included in the 12 page initial proposal. Multiple written and signed change orders were submitted by the contractor as needed - Kitchen Renovation: remove existing cabinets, counters and appliances; strip existing flooring; gut existing walls to studs; Install new subfloor; block one window, remove and replace other windows per plan; install ductwork and vents; install new appliances and new drains, vents, hot and cold water feeds; install new cabinets and counters; insulate walls; install back splash; install new hardwood floors and finish; apply new trim. - Remove kitchen bearing wall; install LVL beam, floor joists, Simpson joist hangers, and install lally columns - Kitchen electrical: supply and install under cabinet light fixtures, recessed fixtures, GFI receptacles, tie feeds into electrical panel. - Repair weather damage to home; including rot and deterioration to floor, walls, headers and floors, siding and insulation. Remove damaged wall and ceiling; remove damaged fiberglass insulation; spray cavity with mold disinfectant; and re-plaster. At least 8 areas repaired - Re-plumb shop sink; install 2 sill ***** - Remove and replace light fixtures and sconces. Repair wiring as needed. - 1st and 2nd floor hallways, living room and dining room floors, and 3 sets of stairs: remove existing floor coverings; apply Hardi Pak sublayer; install hardwood flooring on 2nd floor; sand and finish coat with 3 layers of poly. - Remove existing floor and install hardwood floors on 1st floor office, master bedroom, 2 guest bedrooms; sand and finish coat. - Bathrooms: replace hinges on vanities as needed; install granite countertops on 2 vanities; remove vanity and lower section of wall and insulate wall cavity with closed cell foam. - Remove existing fiberglass insulation in all cellar ceilings. - Stained glass window: frame opening for 8 foot half round stained glass window; construct frame and molding; patch and plaster wall; trim interior and exterior of window. - Interior painting: Address all damaged wall and ceiling areas; Sand, caulk, prep, prime, and apply two coats of finish paint on all walls; Sand, caulk, prep, prime, and apply one coat of finish paint on all door, windows, and trim; coat sunroom ceiling with 2 coats of Sikkens; paint all ceilings, (minus 3 rooms). - Two decks and lower stairs: remove existing deck and stair boards; install 2x6 PT deck joists between existing; install Simpson hangers; remove and replace deck toop rail with PT 2x6; power wash ballast and post on 2 decks and stairs; apply 2 coats of Deck and Dock on posts, rails, and ballast; remove all decking on steps and decks and replace with Trex composite decking secured with hidden fasteners. - Exterior Painting: Recoat entire house base and all trim one coat. - Miscellaneous: remove and replace skirt boards on entire rear sunroom with PVC stock; remove and replace two sections of defective vertical wood siding; replace rotted cap on privacy fence; remove AC unit, frame in and insulate wall cavity; patch and plaster interior ready for paint, side exterior to match; remove bookcase on right side of fireplace; repair loose siding on sunroom roof; clean and adjust or replace window all actuators. -Replace all recessed light fixtures with sealed LED units. -All permits and inspections performed by contractor; certificate of insurance to be issued to owner; one year guarantee on workmanship; remove all debris.

+ 0 moreAfter meeting with several contractors to work on our home in Lexington, Bill Perry and his team were the obvious choice due to price, professionalism and attitude, and over the course of six weeks, their work did not disappoint! From the first meeting until the last day, all of his professionals were willing to engage in and discuss my ideas, never making me feel like an annoyance to their work production. His sub-contractor, Ken, was absolutely brilliant in both his work and his attitude, and he managed other team members with ease. The group was timely and communicative about all aspects of the project, keeping me updated with daily emails and phone calls, as well as face to face conversations. When I made small tweaks to the project, they responded in kind, often agreeing with my new idea. On two occasions, a problem arose mid-project (toilet placement and a scratched vanity), and Bill was immediately responsive and fair in price negotiations for who should labor the cost (on both occasions, he took on the cost). He often told me different price points and collaborated with me to prioritize where to save and where to spend, never in his own self-interest. I have done work on my home on several occasions, and this was by far, the most seamless with an amazing end product. I will most certainly be calling Bill Perry and his team when I am ready for my next project.

They installed 15 new support posts and several new LVL beams as well as blocking and joist supports. It was a lot of work around plumbing, electrical, and sprinkler systems. All the guys on the crew were smart and polite. At the end of the work they cleaned up everything very well. I highly recommend them and would use them again.

They provided competitive quotes, used quality materials, and followed through with the agreed upon timeline for completion. During the work, some old house issues were found and the project foreman explained in layman's terms his recommendations for repair. I found the project foreman and all his men to be very well trained, professional and they always maintained a clean and safe work area at the end of each day. I was impressed with the company owner, Bill. He had all the required support staff readily available whenever complications arose. On more than one occasion, in a days’ notice, Bill had his electrician, painters or extra skilled laborers on the job site whenever needed to keep the project on schedule. It is hard to find qualified and trustworthy contractors like Perry Brothers. I would highly recommend them.

It took a little longer than their forecast only because we added extras and they had to make unexpected repairs to improve the main load bearing wall and two floors with LVL beams. The best part is they were knowledgeable and well equipped to handle these unexpected but necessary changes.
