our exterior window frames and front vestibule. While the prospect of investing in substantial, unanticipated work is
frightening to any homeowner, Bill and his team managed the process with a great deal of flexibility and professionalism.
Knowing that we were on a tight budget, they provided multiple options for us to consider. Dan, who led the day-to-day work on the ground, was particularly helpful. He frequently sought our input, was available to answer questions, and was helpful in explaining their work in detail so that we understood the repair process throughout. The workmanship is top notch and we are very happy with the quality of repairs. You may find less expensive solutions, but the customer service and workmanship will not be of the same caliber.
After finishing some bigger jobs, Bill was able to schedule in my two day job, which stretched into a three day job because of a slight injury to a sub-contractor, and here's where Bill Perry proved his professionalism. I was a little disappointed that Mike (the man in whom I had so much confidence) wasn't doing the work in the first place, and that in discussing the work with the sub-contractor, it had sounded like he didn't have as good a handle on the specifics of what was to be done. I had called Bill that morning to come by and take a look at the job, and to meet him in person, since I don't feel comfortable writing checks to contractors who can't find time to come meet me. Bill was came over immediately, and it just so happened that he arrived just after the sub-contractor had his injury. When I stated my concerns to Bill -- both that the job wasn't getting started fast enough for my liking, and that Mike wasn't the one doing it -- I said that if the job couldn't get started the next day I would pay him for the materials and call a different roofer to come do the job. Bill was awesome. He took in what I was saying, told me very simply that he understood where I was coming from, and, without blinking once, and in a calm and confident tone of a contractor in control, he told me the job would get done the next day, and that he just needed to check with Mike to make sure he was a go. Bill got back to me 3 hours later to inform me that Mike would be there the next morning.
Not a single hitch after that. The job was done in a day and a half (as discussed at Mike's original visit), and the invoice came in for the exact price quoted. Mike and his co-worker Scott were pleasant and careful as well as efficient and knowledgeable, and I can't wait for the next rain storm. The clean-up service they used was great, too. Not a shred of debris left on the ground beneath the work area.
I was very pleased with the work, and would highly recommend Perry Bros. for your next roofing job, though I also highly recommend you ask specifically for Mike to do the work, if he's available. Good luck!
Make sure you understand everything that is laid out in quotes and you know what they will be doing and more importantly what will not be done. If you are on the same page your experience will be good.
Since my first interaction with Perry Brothers Construction, Bill Perry has quickly become my ?go-to? professional for all of my home repair/construction needs. He and the staff members I've met are all highly knowledgeable, professional, and have a notable work ethic: Perry Brothers has been on-time and on-budget for all of the jobs I've hired them for. Perry Brothers has offered me solid, practical solutions to otherwise serious problems.
Overall, I trust and value Bill's experience and the quality of his work. I am no longer a nervous homeowner because I know I have a capable and trustworthy professional I can rely on for my next house-related need.
I have to admit I had gotten the impression from their website and other Angie's List reviews that Perry Brothers was a higher end contractor and I was not completely surprised when the estimate I received from them was substantially higher than any other estimate I received. I ultimately ended up getting estimates from five different contractors. Perry Brothers was 20% higher than the next highest estimate and well outside of our budget so we ended up going in another direction. I would definitely consider Perry Brothers for a job where we had more flexibility in our budget as I have no doubt they complete their work to the highest degree of quality.
The offer on the house fell through so unfortunately we couldn't use Bill's services but we will definitely contact him again for our next offer.
Communication was great. Either with his company's voicemail or his cell phone he was very quick to pick up or call back.
While there we discussed all of our wishlist items and the pros / cons of adding up or back. We also discussed a kitchen remodel we wanted as well. Before leaving, Bill did some quick measurements that would allow him to provide us a high level quote of the work.
Bill responded about 2 days later with the high level quote on all the items we discussed, which was exactly when he said he would respond.
The quote we recieved was a bit higher than others. We were not really able to connect on what assumptions were made in doing the quote so I don't want to misrepresent him as being overly costly just more than others but enough so that it probably didn't make sense to get too much further in the weeds.
My only comment, not complaint, would be that I think I would have liked to work with Bill, but wasn't really sure "what to do next". We received the quote, it was in the ballpark of what we expected but I think to get the details on the quote we would have needed to committ on choosing his company, which we were not ready to do yet.
Overall, seemed like a great guy, lots of great reviews we just were not able to get past the quote part. Different processes for different companies and felt with my budget and a slight deadline issue down the road, I wanted to know all details before I moved forward.
but may have been negotiable if we discussed the actual work to be performed. I priced all the material and estimated the margin, labor costs and commissions to arrive at my expected price. Only one company (of three) came close.
Bill's entire crew were on time, clean, and worked together to get the job done. I was able to speak to each of the different trades to discuss what they were doing each day. The electrician had to do more work because of the outdated wire; I asked the plumber to replace a pipe that was rotted in the basement and repair 2 running toilets; and Ken, the carpenter, did a fantastic job on all the trim work. After the basement was finished, Bill gave me a proposal to have Ken and his assistant replace my wooden gutters. He also added the trim work underneath the gutters and bay window.
I am so happy I chose Bill Perry and his crew. We've stayed in contact because I keep adding work in other areas of the house.
I would definitely recommend Perry Brothers to all my neighbors and friends. He's well worth the money!
The painter, Shawn came the next two days working on sanding and preparing and then painting. The job was very tedious as there were 90 window panes to go around. He was extremely courteous, respectful, detail-oriented and professional,-exactly what you would want for someone doing this kind of job. This was especially important due to the fact that I was working on my office computer or on the phone n the den quite a bit of the time he was working. He was meticulous with clean-up , both on the doors themselves and the area around him. He went well-beyond expectations which did not go unnoticed.
Final result- the doors look beautiful and are fully functional. They look like they were always there as they fit in perfectly with the other woodwork in the house. Excellent experience and can't wait for them to do my next project. Highly recommend!
