They guarantee that there will never be water in the basement, but it did flood after having the drainage system put in. When there was a storm, the power went out and the pump that was supposed to drain the water out of the system didn't kick in. I called them and they told me it was because I didn't purchase the battery back up system. The basement flooded a second time and they came out and acknowledged they failed to add a drain to the bulkhead. They added this. I don't feel confident that if there was another bad storm it wouldn't flood again. I lost two batches of carpet tile, which cost me $600. I can't say this was a great experience.

The estimator was very prompt and professional. They came and did the work on time. However, once they finished the interior work we had to schedule the digging outside several times. Once they had my money they were a little slow to react. Everything works great. I did get other prices and they were all twice as high as theirs. I would use them again.

This has been some of the best money we've spent on our house. There hasn't been one problem since they did the work. They were absolutely outstanding! They aren't the cheapest, but are well worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I would certainly hire them again. I have recommended them to my neighbors.

They sent me a sales guy. He wrote up the work. He kept coming back to tell me his camera was broken and he needed to take new pictures. I felt bad because he was a nice man, but I called the manager because I wasn't comfortable with this. The regional manager came out, apologized profusely and redid the prep work. He sent a crew out that was supposed to lay the drainage system. I was told it would be 3 - 4 days. On day 5 the jackhammers were still going and the men were in and out of my house. They told me they'd hit granite and there was no way through it. They started to lay a narrow drain. I wasn't comfortable with how slow the work was and how the work was being done. I called a friend who knows this work and he told them to stop what they were doing. They were actually prepared to put the pump at the highest point of my house. I called the manager and he sent a second crew out. They spent 2 - 3 days doing it right. After a few days I called and let them know they'd never sealed the drain to my outside. They sent another man out to seal the pipe. I showed him cracks in the cement foundation they had poured to cover the drain and he told me this would happen. The final crew that came out was very efficient and professional. They admitted to me that the team that had been there before didn't do it right. The foundation they put down has cracked. There is a space now. At the end of the day, half of what they did works. As far as I'm concerned, their workmanship was pretty shoddy. I know this was a big job, but for what I ended up with, it was expensive. I wouldn't hire them again.
Description of Work: They dug up the entire inside perimeter of my basement, installed beneath the foundation system and a pump. They also sealed cracks in the foundation which is where I would give them a D because I am still getting water in those cracks.

The technician left my home without completing the work. A pump was left on my basement floor and a cover to the pump's chamber was left uncovered. After I called to complain the technician returned later in the day. I am firing Basement Technologies. Even though they installed my system, I will find other companies to perform annual maintenance. Their technician made comments about system repairs that he recommended (repairs to concrete cracks) and said the company would stand behind its work and fix these items. When I attempted to follow up, my calls were not returned and e-mails went unanswered. My sense is that they are totally overwhelmed, but this is not an excuse.
Description of Work: Two years ago Basement Technologies installed a $5000 drainage system in my home. This report is on work done as part of my annual service contract.

The company Boston basement systems has the same mailing address as the company I used Boston Basement Technologies, They came out in Nov. to do a service call on my basement sump pump to make sure everything was up to par for the next coming months, what I found out is that they never really did much because when the water started coming in this spring no alarms from the pumps came on, nor did the pumps turn on. They are a 24 hour service and when I called them and told them that I had over 6 inches of water in my basement it took them over 6 hours to show up. I had damaged appliances, and even lost my dryer due to water damage because of this, they did come out and drop a sump pump in the pit, but did not attach it to anything nor cover my pit back up, and then they wanted $700-1600 for me to keep the pump that they threw in there. I did some investigating and this company has been cited by the state, and by the Dept. of Safety according to a source in the Safety Dept. They have lost a license before and are currently working under a new one. This company is ridiculous, and are unwilling to help or compromise for their terrible service.
Description of Work: This company is also known as Boston Basement Technologies, they tried to do a sump pump for me. They said it was going to be $3000 to fix it. We paid them the $3000 up front. They, 'The design engineer' spent a little time poking around the basement and claimed to have fixed the problem. When it rained the next time, I realized that it hadn't been fixed. We tried calling them back and they ignored me.

I have to admit being reluctant to use this company, seeing all the bad reviews on Angie's List. However, of the 4 basement companies that looked at my basement they were the only one that proposed a simpler solution to my issue of having very infrequent water in my basement. All the other companies wanted to install full perimeter drain systems costing from $5000-$8000, which I felt was too drastic and expensive for a problem that only happened once in four years (and which an old sump I had cleared up). Rocco didn't try to oversell me and I appreciated that he tried to solve the problem at hand. An exterior perimeter drain specialist later confirmed that the simpler solution was all I needed. The workers showed up time, were responsive to my suggestions on where to route the discharge pipe, were very courteous and thoroughly cleaned up after testing the equipment. Overall, very pleasant experience, not sure how or why this company has so many poor reviews.

I called this company because of a report in Angie's List. The first visit was from the estimator/sales representative who evaluated the problem, outlined two possible solutions and recommended one. (The least expensive one.) The job had to be re-scheduled once. The crew arrived on time and finished in a few hours. An oil line to the oil burner had to be re-routed out of their work area and this was told us right up front so we had ample time to have our furnace guys move it. When they left, their work area in the basement was left clean and orderly.
Description of Work: The company fixed a long standing problem with the chimney foundation wall. They were able to remedy the problem from inside the basement so that no digging was required.

The crew arrived and told me they could not do the job as it was submitted by the design engineer. After much debate they began jack hammering the basement floor - right into my oil line. The next day I had no heat or hot water and oil had leaked into my yard. I had the line repaired and BT paid for the work. The first rains - this week - the pump failed to turn on so I had a major flood situation. I called and was told to reconfigure the plugs so the pump would kick on. I did. When the workmen arrived they told me by reconfiguring the plug I had burned out the pump and they had to replace the whole pumping system. Once again, they never checked to see if this pump is working. When I called I was treated rudely and told they are not responsible for the damage caused by the faulty pump. Nothing but trouble from the start.

This is the absolutely worst company that I have done business with, ever. Their salesperson seemed knowledgable, I made an appointment. They called 3 days before and rescheduled 2 weeks out. I called 2 days before the appt to confirm, they said they would be there from 2-5pm. I called at 3:00 pm, they didn't have me listed and wanted to make another appt. for the next week. I am self employed and lost the days work as well as the service day. The installation was pitiful, the installer took a hammer to the plaster on my ceiling, the "no-freeze" contraption leaks, the drain is on the side of my house, it drains back into the house. They were to resolve the area around a sewer pipe with a special process, the installer chopped up my floor and now water comes through that area of the floor. I am hiring another contractor and have learned a painful lesson. All I wanted was a dry basement.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. The first time I hired them they hit my house with their truck, the team could not read the foreman's plans and when I tried to call the foreman and he was unavailable. I had to hire them again because no other company works on a system installed by Basement Technologies. The first time they were scheduled they called at 5:00 PM the night before to reschedule for two weeks later. That day I took the day off work and sat around all day to wait for them. They never showed up. I never would have known if I didn't call them at 1:00 PM to see where they were. They told me they weren't coming and needed to reschedule for a second time. On the third attempt, I again waited around for two hours and when they didn't show up I called, learning from my last mistake not to wait so long and found out they weren't coming for a third time and had been too busy that morning to give me the courtesy of a phone call. I demanded my deposit back!

Basement Technologies people have all been great to work with, although administrative issues don't seem to be their strong suit. Their sales reps get to the point and understand what needs to be done, taking time to explain what the work will entail. I would have preferred that they arrived earlier in the morning, but the quality of the work was worth the extra time in the morning. My wife even remarked, "did you clean up the basement since their work"? I delightedly replied "no" they left the basement like you see it, actually cleaner than they found it!
Description of Work: Basemenet Technologies installed their patented tile drainage system along my basement walls. The work they performed completed a previous install on a home I recently purchased, the previous owner only had 3 walls, or 75% of the basement covered. This work completed the system or 100% of the basement.

They were the most unprofessional company I have ever seen. They tore down important joists (which we had to have repaired). They made holes in the walls in which more water came in. They never finished the job according to the contract. They did an illegal tie-in to the sewer. I had to take them to court to get my money back, and I did. They are crooks who keep changing their name and phone numbers. Do not use these people!
Description of Work: In the beginning of 2005, I contracted this company to help fix our basement. They were to install a track and drill to the outside and bury a sump pump to take care of drainage. Also, to adhere waterproof panels to the walls.

Overall a very negative experience, so let me start with the short list of positives. Salesman was pleasant and accommodating to requests, work crews showed up on time. OK, on to the negatives. The foreman for the work crew was sick on the second of the two original days scheduled so the team of two worked without a foreman. In checking I found places where channels were not connected and was told "it was connected when I installed it" something that was obviously impossible. A different work crew showed up the next two days without having been prepped about the job. This happened another three times at least. The job scheduled to be complete in two days in August was not finished until the middle of October. (Picture a garage filled with things removed from the basement for 2+ months). When I called to speak to people to get things resolved I often got a run around. My credit card was charged after they felt the job was complete without checking with me first. Lousy.
