Rich came to our house very promptly after we initially contacted him about getting an estimate. After looking at the room which needed work, he scheduled an electrician to come to our house to look over things to make sure we had what we needed on the electric side. After the electrician came a few days later, Rich wrote up an estimate within 24 hours. Rich's price seemed very reasonable for the work provided, so we told him we'd like to proceed. Rich was ready to start working on the project extremely quickly (we had expected to wait a few weeks, but he was ready to go only two days later! We actually had to ask him to start slightly later to wait for some company to leave before we started this project). Once the work got started, Rich realized that one part of the project would require slightly less work than expected. He told us so immediately and even said we might be able to expect the final cost to come out less than the quoted price. Sure enough: at the end of the project we wound up paying almost 10% less than the initial quote. This sort of thing rarely happens, so it felt like a real treat to come in under budget. Most of the work was done by Rich's brother Steve. He always showed up on time, did his work thoroughly, and cleaned up before leaving for the day. Steve was very flexible to accommodate our schedule, and the final product looks AWESOME. The ceiling came out perfectly smooth and well-painted, and the wall above the fireplace is outstanding. We were extremely pleased with the work that 3 G's did for us, and we'll definitely have them come out to do work on our house in the future. They treat their customers with care and respect; good people doing good work.
Description of Work: Did some initial demo so an electrician could install 8 recessed lights in our living room (including removing molding around ceiling), as well as some demo on the wall above our fire place. Installed sheet rock over our existing horse-hair plaster ceiling (which was riddled with poorly-patched cracks) and above the fireplace. Applied several layers of joint compound to all sheetrock. Primed and painted all areas. Re-installed molding.

The team worked with our creative designs and several other vendors seamlessly. Rich was always just a phone call away and dealt with our design specs and changes in a collaborative and supportive manner. Several design based project compilations arose and the 3G team helped us develop and implement solutions in a real time fashion. At all times we felt that our project and perspectives were a priority, and were comforted that all issues were dealt with quickly, efficiently, and proactively. The team was meticulous about their work, and seemed to have a sense of pride with their workmanship that you do not find easily today. The reviews we read about 3G's were fabulous, and so was the job they did. We recommend them without reservation, and would hire them again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Built a Theater Room in an unfinished basement. 3G's finished a 650 sq ft. section of our cellar, and helped us create an almost perfect theater room.

Worst experience with a contractor that I've ever had!! He gave me a verbal estimate and I told him he had the job. Then the excuses began. Wife in poor health, death in the family, architect declined the project, on and on he strung me along for a month! Then he stopped responding altogether! Now all the other contractors I could've hired are booked for months!! I recommend you assume the good reviews are fake or invalid and don't let Richard Gould waste a moment of your time! EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!

Response from 3G's Construction
I went to [member name] house and looked at what he wanted, Then I gave him a rough idea on a cost for a project like his. Then my wife went into surgery and right after that, Then we had a death in the family. I emailed [member name] and told him I couldn't take on the job, He emailed me back and asked if I would reconsider, So I told him after the wake and funeral that we would need drawings and I set up an appointment with an archetect for him to meet. I don't know what happened between him and the archetect, but I got an email from the archetect the he declined to do drawings for [member name]'s project. So I emailed [member name] that the archetect had declined the project. I emailed [member name] with no drawings I can't get a structual stamp and wouldn't be able to pull a permit. Then I got an email from [member name] that he was going to give me this review and I just wanted to give my side of the story.

Rich and his crew are very good. They spent considerable time at our house and his crew was professional and respectful. We did not have a final vision for the bathroom when we decided to hire a contractor. The construction process became iterative and Rich was very helpful to bounce ideas off of. I liked his flexibility durin g the planning process. Also, we encountered some surprises in our new house and he was able to assist with fixing them. Rich also has a wealth of contacts, so we were able to quickly find other resources we needed to address issues we encountered with our house. The benefit of Rich being a general contractor is that in addition to finishing our bathroom, either him or his contacts were levaraged to fix non standard plumbing issues, replace 2 exterior doors, replace wooden soffits with PVC, fix chimney leak, install storage baskets, install wood flooring, install marble thresholds, and replace an electrical panel. If we didn't have to wait and budget for some other projects, his crew would be here right now.
Description of Work: Richard and his crew finished a master bathroom, as well as several other key general contracting projects to a house we had recently purchased.

We had a great experience from start to finish. Throughout the entire process Rich was great at keeping us informed. Rich and his crew were very professional, polite and informative. They even completed a few extra improvements which enhanced the space at no extra charge. The crew kept the jobsite orderly and clean. Having 3 young children we really appreciated this as we never had to worry. We are very pleased with the results and will be hiring 3 Gs Construction again in the future.

This project was a beast in my old house. Always something extra wrong, but Rich was able to stick close to his original estimate and our original plans, with changes here and there- mainly due to the fact you can't tell what kind of mess you will find behind closed walls. Complete gut of our upstairs bath complete with new subfloor, walls and insulation and the expansion of the bath into our bedroom by completely removing the wall and building a new one. All new electrical and plumbing, bringing everything up to code along the way. Installed the pedestal sink, reused our old toilet, and did subway tile work on a shower I "designed". Tile work on the shower floor was challenging, and took a few tries to get right, causing our timeline to be extended. Rich was determined to get it right, bringing the guys in weekends and early and/or late when needed. Really appreciated his dedication to completing the job to our satisfaction. Since he was there a bit longer, I kept coming up with minor projects for his team to work on. A happy side effect for me, and Rich was extremely accommodating. I had him add extra outlets to our babies room, and case in the gross looking stack pipe in the babies closet. You would never even know it's there! Steve did a great job on that, and Jackson sanded and painted the areas in the babies room that needed repaired after the electrical work right away. Everything was kept as clean as possible. Mike completed the tile work in the shower and made the final product look beautiful! Super nice guys, and felt like family by the end. Some other "extras" I threw in- removing the bathroom door downstairs and replacing it with a solid wood door. No easy feat in an old house since the casing needs replaced, etc. Installation of a new pedestal sink downstairs, hanging of a mirror and installation of new light fixture above the new sink. Mike did great work on the light. It had to be installed in an odd way since there was a pipe smack dab in the middle of the wall where the electrical should have been. Mike was able to creatively work around it. Jackson came in with paint and plaster and made the whole thing look pretty. Since the guys had been around our house since September with another project, they got to know my husband and I quite well, and were even around to find out I got pregnant. They were super nice and accommodating through the whole process. Would definitely use again.
Description of Work: Complete gut job on upstairs bath, enlarged bath by relocating wall, finished inside of upstairs closet where stack is, installed additional outlets in upstairs bedroom, relocated cable run in wall, complete build of new upstairs bath with all plumbing/electric/tile, refinished upstairs wood floors, removed downstairs bath vanity and replaced with pedestal sink, removed and replaced downstairs bath door with new solid wood, installed new vanity light in downstairs bath

. Everything was great. See above.
Description of Work: Rich and his team performed all aspects of a raised-ceiling repair job; his carpenters installed a truss support system for the ceiling (in my attic) using a structural engineer's design. Then his painter/plasterer worked inside the living area to repair cracks in the raised ceiling caused by the structural design flaw the carpenters corrected, to plaster over those repairs, then prime and double-coat the ceiling with paint. Several things about 3G's stood out. First, the price was fair - and on the final day when the building inspector approved the work Rich LOWERED HIS FINAL PRICE BY 10% WITHOUT ASKING because he said the work had not taken as long as anticipated. The entire team was punctual. They were polite and a pleasure to have in my house even as they were tearing it up. They cleaned up after themselves meticulously at the end of each day. And the plasterer even fixed, patched and painted unrelated minor cracks in my walls and ceilings!!! He said he "couldn't stand to leave them there." I would give them about my highest rating possible. The job wasn't cheap but the price was right. They are good, decent, honest, friendly workmen.

Rich was very professional and responsive from the very beginning. The quote he gave us for the work was very fair. Every time there was a change to any work he would provide us with an updated list of the charges. He was very open to working with us throughout the process and making changes as necessary. He also had to work around the hard wood floor installer which he was happy to do even though we chose someone else to do that work. He had his own subcontractors, all of whom we were happy with. The electricians were very professional and were very helpful and cautious as we have three little kids living in the space we were renovating. The same went for the painters as well- they were so considerate of the fact that we were living in the space as they were working. They always cleaned up and always kept us up to date on what they were doing and what was coming next and when. After the project was finished we had some trouble with a smoke detector and Rich himself came back and replaced it for us at no charge. Rich was easy to work with and I trusted him. We will be using him again when we get to the next phase of construction- a kitchen.
Description of Work: Rich added a bedroom and two closets upstairs where there had previously been an open space.

The owner, Rich Gould, and his team are wonderful to work with. From the initial meeting to the end of the project, Rich continually communicated daily and weekly goals. This was key for us as this was a very large project with many moving parts. As with any construction project, there were delays and issues that arose. Rich and his team mitigated these problems quickly and professionally. Much of the project was completed on a "design build" basis because we did not have architectural plans. This took some work on both sides, which included drawings, pictures, etc., to communicate to Rich and his team what we wanted. Not only did they take what we wanted, but they gave professional suggestions, which resulted in a beautiful product. While we had a decent budget, we needed to use different forms of cash and credit cards for the project. Rich was extremely flexible with this and went as far as to have Home Depot and other vendors calls us for credit card payments over the phone for supplies. All labor was paid in cash. Several months after the project, we had some settling in the new half bath that made some drywall seams visible. I reached out to Rich and within days he had his team at the house again to fix this. He is committed to making sure we are happy with the project and that his team's work is perfect. We plan on using 3G's Construction for future projects. Rich and his team exceeded our expectations.
Description of Work: New plumbing, electric, kitchen, bathroom, moved a half bath, enclosed a breezeway to make a mudroom, removed/moved walls, and managed HVAC/natural gas line/window and counter top installations.

We are very happy that we found Rich for this job! Rich and his crew (family) consistently exceeded our expectations for the services they provided. I was very impressed by Rich's communication throughout every step of the project. He seemed genuinely disappointed that that price was as high as it was and tried to save money whenever possible. If we ever had questions he was always very quick to respond. This project took several days to complete and overlapped the Christmas holiday. Every day, the guys did a great job cleaning up the garage and driveway and ensuring that the garage was sealed properly to prevent further damage. Most importantly, everyone on Rich's crew was very friendly and professional. Both my wife and I felt very comfortable having Rich's guys around. During the course of their work, Rich and his crew identified other issues (improperly installed dryer vent and poorly sealed windows above garage) and corrected those problems as well without changing the price of the estimate. This was more than we expected but greatly appreciated! We have already been in contact with Rich about some other projects and we look forward to working with him again very soon.
Description of Work: We contacted Rich because we had dry rot near our garage doors. At the time, we did not know how extensive the problem was so Rich provided an estimate for how much it would cost to open the wall up to determine the scope of the problem. Unfortunately, the damage was structural in nature to the extent that the entire wall around the garage doors had to be rebuilt, including all the support beams and garage door headers.

I love how another commenter said, "There are three people you should have on speed dial on your phone: 911, your mother, and Rich Gould" - How true! We were so impressed with his skill and knowledge for our project. His team was phenomenal! Jackson, Mike and Steve all brought their A game to this job. All were so forthcoming with information - even outside the scope of the job. As new homeowners we were soaking in all the great information they would give. We wouldn't hestate to call them again for other home projects we'd like to complete (basement finishing, kitchen remodeling - to name a few) AS well as for the little things. We know they would do just about anything to help us. Rich was very good at communicating the details of the project - what needed to be bought, timeline on when things would get done and any hiccups that came along the way. We had no problems at all with knowing what was going on. I also want to 2nd the comment on feeling safe! Their workers were so courteous. I would so have them here anytime.

There are 3 numbers you call in an emergency: 911, your mother, and Rich Gould. As stupid first time home buyers- my husband and I, our realtor, and our home inspector all missed major termite damage done to our downstairs. After over a year of investigating legal action, it was decided that the cost to sue was too high, with the outcome not being guaranteed. After receiving several estimates upwards of $35,000 (and that was just for the hardwood and subfloor work), we thought we would be stuck with a dangerous situation that we could never afford to fix. Certainly, we'd take a loss if we ever sold our home. And then came Rich! We had brought him in months before to quote a different project, and had never contacted him thinking this was outside the scope of his company. We neglected to realize, there is literally NOTHING he can't fix. And if he can't fix it- he knows who to call to get it done. Not to sound dramatic, but he truly was our angel for this project. It was a total disaster area for a couple days- I mean you rip out your subfloor it is gonna be messy! But he and his team did their very best to keep us comfortable. He always answered or returned my texts and calls. He always asked me first is something unforeseen needed done. He kept me constantly in the loop, and often did not charge me for little extras that came about. He even gifted us new baseboards because he refused to use the old ones! It was a huge job that took a bit longer than the anticipated 3 weeks (about 5)- mostly because of crazy stuff you find in a 80 year old house, or because I added things on to his list. He is a perfectionist, detail oriented, professional, and above all he is fair and kind. In fact Jackson (paint & drywall expert) was sent almost immediately to my house to correct something minor on the ceiling. The final cost did exceed the original price, but not by a heck of a whole lot- and mostly due to my add ons. And even with all the unexpected repairs, Rich either found areas where we could reduce the cost, or did not charge me if it was negligible. He is I trust Rich, and all of the guys on his crew to come in my house, and do whatever they need to do. As a woman, you hope if you ever find yourself alone with a contractor, you feel safe. I feel totally safe with anyone associated with Rich in my house, with or without my husband being there. Shout outs to all the guys: Mike, Steve, and Rich Jackson, (and an unnamed plumber)- all great friendly guys willing to go above and beyond that helped with the project. There is NO ONE ELSE I will ever use to do anything around my house without either A) Calling Rich first, or B) There is no B. In fact, they are starting our bathroom reno next week! By the end of this year- Rich Could and his guys will all practically be family, and I am very okay with that!
Description of Work: Removed hardwood flooring in living area & damaged subfloor. Sistered joists in basement. Rebuilt subfloor, laid new hardwood. Refinished all hardwood in entire downstairs to match. Repaired termite damaged stairs. Ripped out termite damaged closet, rebuilt it. Installed drywall in mudroom and trim. Installed recessed lights in kitchen, repaired ceiling damage. Removed unnecessary radiator, did associated plumbing work. Removed load bearing post, and reconfigured structure to code- covered with oak. Replaced entire ceiling in dining area, and painted ceilings in nearly the entire downstairs. Installed new exhaust fan in downstairs bath, and caught a potentially hazardous crack in the existing roof pipe. Performed unforeseen electrical work in basement/kitchen/dining/garage areas. Replaced door to sunroom with brand new door. Replaced baseboards in downstairs. Moved cable outlet, and electrical outlets.

our It's a familiar story: You start a tiny home improvement project that should last one day and cost very little money. Then you get in there and find a complete horror show. We hired a "large home improvement store" to rip out the carpet in our basement and install laminate floor--easy peasy. Except 10 minutes into it they ripped up a section of carpet and discovered that floor was completely not level, in fact, it was off by inches on the sides. So they packed up and left, leaving us in the lurch with a half destroyed basement. After searching around and making calls (job was too small for some of the companies, or they didn't do that kind of work) we found Rich at 3 G's. He picked up his phone even though he was on vacation with his family, listened to my crazy ramblings, and came to check out the mess a few days later. Rather than undertake a super expensive route of pouring new concrete to even the floor, he devised a very clever system of shims to level it out. We were under the gun to try and get the basement done before we left on vacation, mostly because we needed to move our pet chinchilla down there to stay cool while we were away (I know, if you had nickel every time that happened...). Rich has a very kind heart, and he and his co-worker made it happen, working late and on weekends to finish. They also found some mold in the walls while they were taking off baseboards and took the time to put Kills on it. The job ended up being more labor intensive than he originally thought, but he honored his price quote. Not only did they move furniture and put it back at no extra charge, they cleaned up the site every day---I could have wept with joy. The end result was a stress-free vacation, a beautiful new room for us to use, no more smelly wall to wall carpet, and a happy chinchilla who spent his summer in a cool mold-free room! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Rich and his crew, and will definitely be hiring them again!

Rich and his crew were very responsive to all our needs. The roof was leaking, and he had guys up there the next day. When it came to renovating the bathroom and kitchen, they were great at pointing out details that we overlooked instead of simply bulldozing through the project. Overall, I'm definitely satisfied with their work and would (actually planning to) use them again. Their pricing was fair and in line with what everything should have cost. The added value here is that Rich was actually very easy to reach and his people showed up on time.

3G's did a great job in meeting all of our needs, from providing an affordable estimate to answering all of our questions along the way. They worked around our schedule to see the project to completion and saved us money by adjusting their estimate mid-stream when they determined some of the work they had previously quoted to be unnecessary. We would gladly recommend 3G's, for both the service and the quality of work they provide.

I called Rick Gould explaining that I needed a set of concrete steps replaced. I had already gotten a number of estimates that were much more than I could afford. Rick came right out and talked to me about the best way to deal with the steps, which were crumbling and in obvious need of repair. He said that he would send his mason out and within a day or two at the most, his mason, Danny LeBlanc from A Step Above Masonry, came by to look at the steps. That afternoon Rick called with a very reasonable estimate for the steps (including removal) - lower than all of the other estimates I had gotten from other masons. A day later Danny came by again when I was home and explained exactly what he would do, and he said he would begin the following Monday. He started exactly when he said he would, and he worked every day until the steps were done. The end result is a gorgeous set of steps. Neighbors and friends always comment on how beautiful they are! Both Rick Gould and Danny LeBlanc were incredibly professional and wonderful to deal with. I highly recommend them!

It was wonderful experience working with Rich Gould and his crew to renovate our bathrooms. Rich is one of the most responsive contractors I've met. I can reach out to him via phone calls, emails and/or text messages any time even he was on vacation. His crew did a fantastic job to put in new toilets, tubs with tiles surround, sinks and vanities, recessed lights, medicine cabinets, ceramic tile floor and painted walls. The work quality is guaranteed. For any unexpected problems, he went extra miles and tried his best to make them work. We truly appreciate his great job done and would highly recommend him to anyone!

Rich's crew came through again - professional, courteous, step-by-step approval for any deviations from original plan, full disclosure of pros and cons of approaches, patience with homeowner's preferences and research - really glad I found this contractor and his crew. Service was personalized in a way that I would not expect from a busy contractor. Seasoned experience showed in many instances. Appreciated on-site supervision of work by crew, and their competence.

Rich from 3G's did a great job organizing and running the job, and his painter, also named Rich, did a great job with the painting. We're very happy with how the house looks now, and are looking forward to enjoying it with the warm weather after this long winter!
Description of Work: Painted our house - a cape with a shed dormer in the back and two gable dormers in the front, and large deck. The painting work involved removing, painting and reinstalling PVC conduit (for our 6 Mitsubishi mini split units), and aluminum gutters. In addition to painting, 3G's also removed and replaced a bunch of rotted trim boards with PVC, and installed a front storm door.

7/22/15: I had to update my previous review from an A to a C. Unfortunately, all the walls that 3G repaired have noticeably cracked. I think that they should have been fixed in another way: rather than using mudd/joint compound or whatever it's called, I'm told that they should have inserted pieces of drywall and then patched the gaps between that and the original wall. I don't know that it can be fixed now in a way that will avoid cracking in the future...removing everything and starting over isn't really an option. Ugh. I am very happy with the work 3G did. They seem to genuinely care about doing the right thing for me, even though the job was relatively small. Rich was very responsive and friendly. It was clear he knew what he was talking about. And he didn't condescend or talk to me like a "little lady," which was a nice change of pace. One thing that stands out for me is how respectful they were of my home. Steve used floor coverings when needed and the house was neat and tidy when I got home at the end of the day. I've had quite a few contractors in and out in the past year since I bought my house and 3G was by far the most conscientious. I have absolutely no regrets hiring 3G. I plan to contact them again when I re-do my kitchen and bathroom. Thanks Rich and Steve!
Description of Work: 3G did a few miscellaneous things for me, the biggest of which was to repair walls and install trim throughout my house where I had removed baseboard heat registers.

On a cold December day I arrived home with a flat tire. Rich Gould, our contractor, had just finished his day?s work on our basement renovation project and offered to help fix the flat. Fifteen minutes later, the flat tire had been changed and Rich had done 90% of the work, while I stood around holding the lug nuts. This is just one example of the many times Rich went above-and-beyond the call of duty. He is a thoughtful and kind human being who truly values customer satisfaction over profit. During the construction of our finished basement, as the room began to take shape, I changed my mind more than once about the design. In such cases, I would always timidly ask, if it would be alright to change the agreed-to plan, and without hesitation Rich would respond ?I work for you!? Better still, Rich was never one to nickel-and-dime me for last minute changes or additions. But how?s the workmanship, you ask? I?m no expert on these things (that?s why I hired Rich). I will say only that the completed basement exceeded my expectations. The design of the space offered a great many challenges that involved building walls around vents, pipes, and poles. Rich had a team of hard-working men, but he did the most challenging carpentry himself. He is definitely a general contractor who likes to get his hands dirty. Even though the project took longer than expected, we did not pay a single penny beyond Rich?s original estimate. Working with Rich these last two months has been far-and-away the best experience I have ever had with a contractor. If you?re looking for a genuine, warm-hearted contractor, who values customer satisfaction over profit, then Rich Gould is your man.

As work progressed it became clear that nothing could be saved. Rich discussed each issue and our options as problems came up. We like to do things right and that is always what he recommended too. The ceiling was removed, a strong new beam was installed and foam insulation added. The walls were stripped to the outside wall and insulated. Electrical outlets were upgraded while the walls were open. Jackson and Steve were both proactive ? if something could be done better, they noticed it and made the change. The result is a great-looking room that feels solid and warm, even on coldest days.
Description of Work: We hired 3 Gs Construction to upgrade a cold room between a roof and a porch that an earlier homeowner had botched. Walls were cardboard and the beam supporting the roof was sagging. The beam needed replacing and the side walls needed new sheetrock.

We were very pleased with the collaborative way that Rich Gould and his team worked with us. We had many questions, and he answered all of them. From discussing options to managing what we found when we opened up our walls, he and his team worked with us to come up with a solution that worked for our project. We had a very personalized experience working with him and his team - very different than the experience of working with other contractors who made it clear our wishes were not going to be very relevant once the project started. Rich made it clear what the options would cost for each piece of the job, and was competitive in his rates. We ended up with a wonderful remodel, and with confidence that things were done the best they could have been. Throughout, Rich and his team were courteous, on time, professional, experienced, flexible, and thoughtful about costs. It was clear that he and his team were very seasoned, experienced craftsmen - and interested in maintaining a long term relationship with the homeowner. I would use this group without reservation in the future, and I am picky about who I work with.
Description of Work: remove walls in family room, insulate walls and ceiling above, replace walls in family room, paint walls and ceiling, lay down floorboards in attic above room, re-roof a section of porch roof
