The owner David came himself for both pickup and delivery, was patient and courteous, and clearly explained my options. The work was done on time, and we were pleased with the results. We felt the price was fair. I would definitely use him again.

Description of Work: Our new dog (male) started marking on the rug, so we got pet gates to keep him out of the area with rugs, but we needed our rug cleaned that he had messed. We called Melrose Oriental Rug to find out about how much it would be to clean, and were quoted around $80. I brought the rug in and they said it would actually be less than the price quoted. It took about two weeks to have the rug cleaned and Melrose Oriental Rug contacted me both via cell phone and email to let me know my rug was ready for pick up. When I went to pick up the rug, the credit card machine wasn't working properly, so I went to the ATM to get cash for the rug. After paying, an employee loaded the rug into my SUV. Today, I received an email from Melrose Oriental Rug apologizing for the inconvenience of the credit card machine and that they are mailing me a $25 certificate as an apology. I am extremely happy with their customer service, my rug is as good as new, and I will certainly bring them the other rugs from my home when they need to be cleaned! As a side note, not long ago I went to Kusadasi, Turkey and visited a place where they demonstrated how Turkish hand-made rugs were made, along with how they make silk for the silk rugs, and in their shop, they unrolled different rugs so we could feel the difference between materials and techniques. When I first walked into Melrose Oriental Rugs, they had on display rugs in the process of being made and it reminded my of my trip to Turkey. Definitely a unique and authentic company!

We first were told they could not guarantee that our rugs would be cleaned before the holiday but then the next week, we received a call, saying we could come pick up our rugs, they are ready. Description of Work: I brought a company c hand tufted rug here after a failed attempt at self cleaning with a rented rug steam cleaner. The steam cleaner left the rug damp and smelling of ammonia. After a panicked call to Melrose oriental rug I was assured they would be able to clean and deodorize my rug back to normal. Which they did, in exactly 7 days as estimated

Description of Work: This is a gem of a company that everyone in Boston should know about. I had a not so valuable but beautiful 1960s oriental rug desperately in need of cleaning. When I looked through Angie's List I came across Melrose Oriental Rug and read one stellar report after another. I called the store, arranged for them to pick up the rug, no fuss no muss, and they returned it cleaned and deodorized--puppy mishaps removed! I trust David and his staff and will use them every time.

Description of Work: Great experience. I've been a local resident of Melrose all my life and have known about Melrose Oriental for years. When I moved in behind Dave's store I knew if I ever had any rug cleaning needs where to go. Unfortunatlely one morning my lab had an accident on my couch cushions. I immediately grabbed the cushions called Dave, and walked them over to him, within 3 days he had them clean and smelling like brand new. I was so happy with how they looked I'll be having Dave come clean the whole couch and rugs once the dog is done shedding her winter coat. Thanks for the great experience.

Description of Work: Having owned dogs for years and years, I have my own equipment to clean my rugs as it gets expensive for all of the spot cleaning that goes on. When I no longer had dogs, I decided to go back to a professional cleaning. I brought my rugs to the establishment and dropped them off. One is a nice Oriental and the other a cheap area rug. The first impression is that it is a nice family owned company with many years of experience and they take pride in their work. You can see through the floor the workers cleaning rugs down below. They took my rugs and offered to replace the fringe on the Oriental. The prices were much cheaper than a company I used to use that would come by and pick up and drop off. (I know I could have done that with this company and even if I did so, the price would have been much cheaper.) And I was very satisfied with the outcome of both the expensive and cheap rug as they were both handled with care. I also bought new rug pads from them. They are a one stop shop with excellent results!

He and his crew relaid the rug with a new pad and replaced a few other rug pads for us. David and his crew were very efficient, cheerful, and polite. Description of Work: My wife spilled a can of latex paint on our oriental rug. Melrose took awhile but the carpet looks like its new. No paint is visible at all. I had previously contacted two other companies who seemed very reluctant to take on the job, so I chose Melrose. Absolutely no regrets. Use them.

Description of Work: Melrose Rugs are the best rug cleaners! Picked up for cleaning and repair, LR, DR and 2 hall area rugs and an oriental stair runner. After cleaning, they meticulously reapplied yarn edging and color stain to one rug, de pilled another, repaired the oriental stair rug and recommended and cut mats of my choice. They were singular in offering an installation of the stair runner and in pick up and delivery service at the holiday crunch time with clear financial discussion and honest discount without reminder. Rugs were fabulous for the holidays! This is an honest and professional company. They came when they promised and carefully replaced all furniture.

Description of Work: Our 2 oriental runners had been in a damp basement for 2 years-Melrose removed the odor, cleaned the stains, and applied new fringe to the rugs. Great job, completed before the date expected, reasonable costs for work done. Highly recommended.
